Right, but if I were to guess, Regigigas’ Slow Start was probably hard coded into Legends Arceus because it already existed. If there were no abilities, it’d probably be a regular legendary Pokemon that functions properly
If abilities weren't a thing I presume Slaking would have been an extremely slow but physically strong and bulky pokemon. So like Snorlax but for physical threats.
Y'know I thought about that for a while, since Regigigas is hard coded to have Slow Start in Legends Arceus, but then I figured they probably only did that because the ability already existed. If abilities were never created in the first place, I figure they'd probably leave it alone, but who knows
A design that bugged me about Palafin’s design is that it doesn’t switch back to it’s Zero form, EVER. It feels like a good change would be it switches forms every time it has to leave the battlefield. A higher risk for a higher reward pokemon
@@Pudcup i really wish that was the case. Then some niche but potentially viable sets, like Sturdy Phasers for one, would be able to handle it. But no, as it stands all it takes is one switch, and Palafin’s in it’s strongest form for the rest of the fight. That was a part of why it was so overwhelming in the singles format
Or they could have made it so that it could only retain the form for a couple turns before needing to switch again (or going off of abilities like Emergency Exit, it is automatically forced out, which ensures it switching between normal and hero form is never seen). That way, it would be like a reverse Regigigas, doing its thing in two or so turns then having to leave afterwards.
Truant should be reworked to not allowing it to attack twice, instead of using a move twice. So like you could body slam, then you could yawn, then body slam, or do a yawn and then protect, but couldn’t body slam three times in a row
I think truant should make slaking loaf around after landing an attack. That way she could use taunt or protect or substitute and be able to use a move the turn after, and would help balance his enormous attack stat.
If Slaking didn't have Truant and were to keep its base stat total of 670, it would have to be a late game Pokemon to prevent players from having a Pokemon that essentially becomes a Legendary and evolves twice from the very start of the game. Also, Slaking is preposterously fast for a lazy sloth Pokemon, boasting base 100 speed, the same as Miltank, another Pokemon whose base 100 speed stat is preposterous for the third gym in Johto.
I'm kinda confused why Medicham wasn't just given more than double its current Attack stat and given an actual ability. I can understand it on Azumarill, since it can either hit hard or be slightly more tanky, but Medicham ONLY has Pure Power (excluding its hidden ability).
In it's joining gen, it was perfectly acceptable and sees use in modern adv ou. Medicham quiet literally got shafted in gen 4 by overall power creep and the physical / special split for its coverage got weaker and psychic physical moves are pathetic and didn't compensate.
if abilities weren't a thing, then game freak would still find a way to give regigigas slow start i mean, they literally gave regigigas slow start on legends arceus,a game that had no abilities,so yeah, regardless of if abilities were there or not, regigigas will forever be with slow start
If abilities didn’t exist, some, Pokémon probably wouldn’t even exist to begin with because the whole joke around it the slacking line is that the ability kind of sucks when abilities don’t exist. How are we to sit down and say that Pokémon, with the idea of an ability in transit to their design would exist
Havinvg Spinda skill swap truant off slaking, waiting a turn, and then skill swap it off spinda to the opponent is gen 3-7 meta breaking, in gen 8, weezing can do nothing to remove it
I feel like completely detrimental Abilities shouldn't exist, instead they should give benefits along with drawbacks. For example, instead of Slaking having enormous base stats and being stuck with Truant to balance them out, it should have normal base stats and Truant should provide a stat boost in addition to forcing the user to skip turns.
The way you make agislash be able to switch back and forth is by making it learn a steal sword move and that would switch it back and of corse I only know of 1 move that’s a steal sword… BEHEMOTH BLADE!!!!!!!
In my oppinion if Slaking used Dig and then his truant ability kicks in, he should be loafing around underground (and be untargetable like that) since he can‘t just dig back up to loaf around lmao
Just discovered the channel and I really like the content - but it's extremly exhausting to have two different narrators that are that different. One is slower and accentuates properly and the other one goes at mach 10 while sounding intense af. Just doesnt mash well.
Why does one guy sound like he's stoned while the other guy sounds like he's on cocaine? Lol you talk soooooo fast it's a bit bothering sorry. Fun video idea tho
You never even mentioned how they really screwed over Regigigas: PLA didn’t have abilities in the game yet made sure to give him his ability in a similar fashion so he STILL sucks even in that game
Wishiwashi's schooling form would probably be an evolution and they'd probably change the stats of both so that the change isn't as dramatic
So Wishiwashi's schooling form wouldn't have to be stuck with 45 base HP _and_ wouldn't have to worry about 1/4th of that HP basically not existing.
Honestly the both of them could have the same ability but the evo could be a bigger fish that turns into a even bigger fish
Bringing up Regigigas is really funny cause in Legends Arceus, the game without abilities, Regigigas still has slow start
Right, but if I were to guess, Regigigas’ Slow Start was probably hard coded into Legends Arceus because it already existed. If there were no abilities, it’d probably be a regular legendary Pokemon that functions properly

Yea if I’d never played Pokemon before and you showed me Snorlax and Slaking, I’d assume they had pretty similar stat spreads
Did legends have ability?
@@phillnyetheplaylistguy3759 Slaking isn't in that game
@@MEPlaysGames from what I rember legends didn't have abilities(I might be tired as hell rn) but they still had to bend regigigas over for no reason.
If abilities didnt exist, they would probably still give a middle finger to Regigigas by hard coding "Slow Start" on them tbh. Great video 😂
Y'know I thought about that for a while, since Regigigas is hard coded to have Slow Start in Legends Arceus, but then I figured they probably only did that because the ability already existed. If abilities were never created in the first place, I figure they'd probably leave it alone, but who knows
@@MEPlaysGamesI mean they'd probably hard code gimmicks with Pokemon like Slaking and Regigigas. I'd say Archeops and Toedscruel would benefit though
They did in legends Arceus

I thought it switched forms every switch, I'm going to be real.

I can't believe no creatures can live inside archeops's attack stat

Even in games without abilities, Regigigas has still been cursed with Slow Start. The devs _really_ hate Gigas

if abilities weren't a thing Slaking would be alot weaker because obviously they wouldn't make a Pokemon have legendary stats without a downside

"What if abilities didn't exist in Pokémon?"
Let's go Pikachu and Eevee: "Hold our abilities"

Technically that move is Iron Head
It's called Gens 1 & 2 and Legends: Arceus.

In doubles, you could bring in regigigas or slaking with a simple beam user then use simple beam on regigigas or slaking. Easy solution
Most of the mons would be bad if it wasn't for the abilities
The electric types with levitate are still ground weak, a mold breaker pokemon can hit them with a super effective earthquake.
Watch this vid on 0.75 speed, because damn does this 2nd guy talk fast.
Great channel
Regigigas would be the best normal type aside from arceus.
Shedinja could work with 5 HP (regular stat) and 255 speed.
truant or truont?
p-groudon would be competitive useless with 4x weakness to water
Some Pokémon get better, some get worse, but overall makes the game a little boring.
