Shiv jayanti is the celebration of a 17th century Hindu Maratha Emperor chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj birth anniversary !!
For many Hindus and maharashtrians it's a matter of great pride and the king is regarded as a father figure in almost all households in Maharashtrian culture!!
Chanting is Victory songs- chants kind of slogans, it is actually exhilarating!!❤

No! Not for us South Indians! We are proud of him but not to the point of this! There’s a lot of historical mess also since it is quite hard to determine genuineness from rhetorical praising accompanied with every sentence as per historical writers who visited from China, Japan, Portugal etc.
Lot of what written about Muslim rulers on this land of Bharatha, is blatant lies like these ppl affording religious and ritualistic freedoms for Hindus and other existing beliefs! They were actually brutal and evil especially with Hindus! Records should be compared to geography, army size & weapons, wealth, development, caste inclusive education, transportation etc.
We South Indians take joy that Shivaji ruled over dense ‘Dhandakārunya’ forests and recognised by travelling historians of the time but we take pride in our own rulers who we feel are a blessing to Hindu beliefs.

    Big Drum = Dhol
Small snare like drum = Tasha
Hence, the group is called Dhol Tasha Pathak(pathak = Team). It's also accompanied with huge metal gongs that generally play along with the beats of the Large Dhols.

Waleska hit the nail on the head when she said it sounds like an offering to royalty, or a call to war! It’s an offering to Shivaji Raje’s Birth. He is very Significant in Indian history as he laid the foundation for the Maratha Empire which was the last Indian ruled empire of India before the British took it over. It significant as it was essentially a Hindu ie pagan renaissance against the genocidal Jihadi Islamic empires under the sultans and Mughals. Shivaji was coronated Emperor, Chhatrapati, which is very significant in the history of the world as wherever Islam and also Christianity went they ended up destroying entire cultures and civilizations in their monoculture of mind and monoculture of thinking drives. In that sense the whole world should be grateful to him for maintaining biodiversity of thinking. Interestingly Indian school history books only give him a paragraph, but in India, people have his portrait or pictures of his coronation in their houses. He is therefore still highly loved and respected and that’s an emotion rarely given to historical kings.

This instrument was played when the peoples declared him king, and this instrument was played when the king entered . Whatever words you are hearing while playing are the titles given to peoples . Those people are singing their heroic stories and this is the start of playing the instrument and the sound that comes at the beginning of playing is called lion roaring. All these people are playing lion roaring ❤

King Shivaji came to be worshiped as a god due to his good deeds. His portraits and statues are found in many homes and is spoken of with respect. Maharaj Shivaji is an example that your deeds make your name immortal.
