He had a drum which he used to set the beat and composed 1008 verses extempore, which is called the Shiva Tandava Stotram. Shiva was so pleased and enamoured listening to this music. As he sang, slowly, Ravana started climbing Kailash from its Southern Face. When Ravana was almost on top, and with Shiva still engrossed in this music, Parvati saw this man climbing up. There is space only for two people on top! So Parvati tried to bring Shiva out of his musical rapture. Then finally, Parvati managed to bring him out of being enthralled, and when Ravana reached the peak, Shiva just pushed him off with his feet. Ravana went sliding down the South Face of Kailash. 🇬🇧𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗟𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 With his neck consecrated by the flow of water that flows from his hair, And on his neck a snake, which is hung like a garland, And the Damaru drum that emits the sound “Damat Damat Damat Damat”, Lord Shiva did the auspicious dance of Tandava. May he give prosperity to all of us. I have a deep interest in Shiva Whose head is glorified by the rows of moving waves of the celestial Ganga river, Which stir in the deep well of his hair in tangled locks. Who has the brilliant fire burning on the surface of his forehead, And who has the crescent moon as a jewel on his head. May my mind seek happiness in Lord Shiva, In whose mind all the living beings of the glorious universe exist, Who is the companion of Parvati (daughter of the mountain king), Who controls unsurpassed adversity with his compassionate gaze, Which is all-pervading And who wears the Heavens as his raiment. May I find wonderful pleasure in Lord Shiva, who is the advocate of all life, With his creeping snake with its reddish brown hood and the shine of its gem on it Spreading variegated colors on the beautiful faces of the Goddesses of the Directions, Which is covered by a shimmering shawl made from the skin of a huge, inebriated elephant. May Lord Shiva give us prosperity, Who has the Moon as a crown, Whose hair is bound by the red snake-garland, Whose footrest is darkened by the flow of dust from flowers Which fall from the heads of all the gods - Indra, Vishnu and others. May we obtain the riches of the Siddhis from the tangled strands Shiva’s hair, Who devoured the God of Love with the sparks of the fire that burns on his forehead, Which is revered by all the heavenly leaders, Which is beautiful with a crescent moon. My interest is in Lord Shiva, who has three eyes, Who offered the powerful God of Love to fire. The terrible surface of his forehead burns with the sound “Dhagad, Dhagad …” He is the only artist expert in tracing decorative lines on the tips of the breasts of Parvati, the daughter of the mountain king. May Lord Shiva give us prosperity, The one who bears the weight of this universe, Who is enchanting with the moon, Who has the celestial river Ganga Whose neck is dark as midnight on a new moon night, covered in layers of clouds. I pray to Lord Shiva, whose neck is bound with the brightness of the temples hanging with the glory of fully bloomed blue lotus flowers, Which look like the blackness of the universe. Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura, Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice, Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants, And who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama. I pray to Lord Siva, who has bees flying all around because of the sweet Scent of honey coming from the beautiful bouquet of auspicious Kadamba flowers, Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura, Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice, Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants, And who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama. Shiva, whose dance of Tandava is in tune with the series of loud sounds of drum making the sound “Dhimid Dhimid”, Who has fire on his great forehead, the fire that is spreading out because of the breath of the snake, wandering in whirling motions in the glorious sky. When will I be able to worship Lord Sadashiva, the eternally auspicious God, With equanimous vision towards people or emperors, Towards a blade of grass and a lotus, towards friends and enemies, Towards the most precious gem and a lump of dirt, Toward a snake or a garland and towards the varied forms of the world? When I can be happy, living in a cave near the celestial river Ganga, Bringing my hands clasped on my head all the time, With my impure thoughts washed away, uttering the mantra of Shiva, Devoted to the God with a glorious forehead and with vibrant eyes. Anyone who reads, remembers and recites this stotra as stated here Is purified forever and obtains devotion in the great Guru Shiva. For this devotion, there is no other way or refuge. Just the mere thought of Shiva removes the delusion.

Hi guys. I also tried to learn it but I remembered 30-40% only. But my wife can chant this without any effort.... You know they say only a few people can match the 1% of intellect that Ravan had. My wife was born on the festival of Dussehra...(the day ravan was killed by ram). May be she is his reincarnation.... Sometimes when she is angry at me I can se the demon in her eyes.
He is not devil bro he is an asura king. His mother is a asura and father is a great sage I literally forgot his name(brahmin) he learned all Vedas and manthras from his father and a great intellect too
It feels wonderful when you imagine that shiv tandav was created by Ravana himself to impress Lord SHIVA and exactly these words were chanted by Ravana to free himself.
Ravana was the most knowledgeable person and the greatest devotee of Shiva at the Ramayan's timeline, he was blindfolded by his arrogance....even when he was defeated by lord Ram and was waiting for his death, Lord Ram sent his brother Lakshmana to learn Rajdharma(duty of the ruler)
Lord Rama also wrote a devotional song .....to Praise Lord Shiv. It's Called Shiva Rudrashtakam.Hope u will enjoy it and also find the difference between the two great devotees
@@aadityavyass ok may be...I don't really know thanks. I just read on an old temple wall and memorised it as the pandits there would sing it every noon
true, RAVANA was the great devotee of Lord Shiva, that's the time he composed the stotram and danced too, his devotion made Lord Shiva willing to move to Sri Lanka where Ravana lived, but the arrogance about the achievements and the boons he received made him completely rude, after which he completely became materialistic and made fun of Lord Shiva too, but after he was killed in the Battle, Lord Ram had to pay his obeisance to the great devotee of Lord Shiva, and Lord Ram made a Shiva Linga from the sands in Rameshwaram and performed the cleansing of sins accrued by killing Ravana.
The way Uma Mohan ma'am composed this tune and voiced this stotram gave it a different feel and emotion. Firstly thanks to Lankeshwar Dashanand Ravan and to Uma Mohan ma'am as well. OM NAMAH SHIVAAYA🔱🚩🙏
This strotam is so awesome to hear it...give big relief from stress....ravana composed it being a great intellectual and a true devotee of lord shiva ...but there is a dance of lord shiva on this song its amazing .. hope you will see that ,,otherwise sweet angel yes its very hard to remember all words ,all chants...and roger in this songs and words in it depicts who the character of a person was just by listening this strotam characterises anger, fire like demons like ravana if you hear hanuman chalisa its melody totally devotional for somebody depicts hanuman's devotional as good character so this is also something that you should see😊🙏🕉😊🙏🕉🥰
maturity is when one realize "sanatan is satya hai" means hinduism or sanatan is only true ... its really true n logical.... being on mahadev path one is true human
Beautiful! The reason why this fantastic verse is attributed to Ravana, the demon emperor of Ramayana, is because one of the lyrics says it's a 'dasa vaktra geetam' - 'sung by the 10 faces'. (Ravana is supposed to have had 10 heads). Some scholars think it means it's a benedictory verse sung by many people (many faces) and not Ravana necessarily. It doesn't matter. Whoever is the author, one is grateful to them for this eternal gem. 🙏
You'll have to watch Ramanand sagar's Ramayana to fully understand each character, especially Ravana. Shiva is special because everyone, the devas and Asuras pray to Shiva and he blesses everyone who has sincere devotion to him. That is one reason he is called Bholenath.
King Ravana was a great scholar, a great warrior, and one of the greatest devotees of Lord Shiva. He was not a "bad person", only some of his deeds were "bad" (and that too is a function of our understanding). His scholarship was recognized by Lord Rama when he asked Lakshmana to ask for "pearls of wisdom" from Ravana. Also remember that many of these legends also have a meta-physical interpretation.
Ravana outlasted all the limits of being a great Shiva Devotee, Reaching powerful self, controlling all 9 planets under his feet, knowledge achieved etc On the other hand Shri Ram was so humble, zero power depiction, just he followed his responsibility with utmost care humbleness and mind was so much away from achievements and glory In the end every one knows what happened 🙂🙂
I close my eyes while listening to the chant, my Body somehow translate it for me, because my body begun to MOVE and DANCE, that the BEST translation for me ^_^
The moral behind Ravana's story is that one should always aim to learn all the knowledge available to us, but should never try to take control of the world using that knowledge.
Ravan decided to take Lord Shiva with him to his kingdom Lanka so that he can please him even more and worship him. But when Lord shiva said that Kailash was hi home and he would not leave Kailash, Ravana decided to take the whole Kailash to Lanka. So when he picked up Kailash Mountain 🏔️ lord Shiva set his foot on ground and Ravana's hands were crushed by the force, so he started crying in pain and to plead Lord Shiva for forgiveness, he started to sing this strotam.

Lord Shiva did the auspicious dance of Tandava. May he give prosperity to all of us.
I have a deep interest in Shiva
Whose head is glorified by the rows of moving waves of the celestial Ganga river,
Which stir in the deep well of his hair in tangled locks.
Who has the brilliant fire burning on the surface of his forehead,
And who has the crescent moon as a jewel on his head.
May my mind seek happiness in Lord Shiva,
In whose mind all the living beings of the glorious universe exist,
Who is the companion of Parvati (daughter of the mountain king),
Who controls unsurpassed adversity with his compassionate gaze, Which is all-pervading
And who wears the Heavens as his raiment.
May I find wonderful pleasure in Lord Shiva, who is the advocate of all life,
With his creeping snake with its reddish brown hood and the shine of its gem on it
Spreading variegated colors on the beautiful faces of the Goddesses of the Directions,
Which is covered by a shimmering shawl made from the skin of a huge, inebriated elephant.
May Lord Shiva give us prosperity,
Who has the Moon as a crown,
Whose hair is bound by the red snake-garland,
Whose footrest is darkened by the flow of dust from flowers
Which fall from the heads of all the gods - Indra, Vishnu and others.
May we obtain the riches of the Siddhis from the tangled strands Shiva’s hair,
Who devoured the God of Love with the sparks of the fire that burns on his forehead,
Which is revered by all the heavenly leaders,
Which is beautiful with a crescent moon.
My interest is in Lord Shiva, who has three eyes,
Who offered the powerful God of Love to fire.
The terrible surface of his forehead burns with the sound “Dhagad, Dhagad …”
He is the only artist expert in tracing decorative lines
on the tips of the breasts of Parvati, the daughter of the mountain king.
May Lord Shiva give us prosperity,
The one who bears the weight of this universe,
Who is enchanting with the moon,
Who has the celestial river Ganga
Whose neck is dark as midnight on a new moon night, covered in layers of clouds.
I pray to Lord Shiva, whose neck is bound with the brightness of the temples
hanging with the glory of fully bloomed blue lotus flowers,
Which look like the blackness of the universe.
Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura,
Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice,
Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants,
And who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama.
I pray to Lord Siva, who has bees flying all around because of the sweet
Scent of honey coming from the beautiful bouquet of auspicious Kadamba flowers,
Who is the slayer of Manmatha, who destroyed the Tripura,
Who destroyed the bonds of worldly life, who destroyed the sacrifice,
Who destroyed the demon Andhaka, who is the destroyer of the elephants,
And who has overwhelmed the God of death, Yama.
Shiva, whose dance of Tandava is in tune with the series of loud
sounds of drum making the sound “Dhimid Dhimid”,
Who has fire on his great forehead, the fire that is spreading out because of the
breath of the snake, wandering in whirling motions in the glorious sky.
When will I be able to worship Lord Sadashiva, the eternally auspicious God,
With equanimous vision towards people or emperors,
Towards a blade of grass and a lotus, towards friends and enemies,
Towards the most precious gem and a lump of dirt,
Toward a snake or a garland and towards the varied forms of the world?
When I can be happy, living in a cave near the celestial river Ganga,
Bringing my hands clasped on my head all the time,
With my impure thoughts washed away, uttering the mantra of Shiva,
Devoted to the God with a glorious forehead and with vibrant eyes.
Anyone who reads, remembers and recites this stotra as stated here
Is purified forever and obtains devotion in the great Guru Shiva.
For this devotion, there is no other way or refuge.
Just the mere thought of Shiva removes the delusion.

The fact that RAVAANA (THE KING OF ALL DEMONS) WROTE THIS FOR LORD SHIVA IS INSANE.
Even though many say's he is demon but lord Rama himself said ravaana is a great ruler because his nation has no poverty are hunger
May lord Shiva bless you both.🙏✨

The most powerful song in the world 🔥🙏🕉
The powers that Ravan had was because of what he received as a boon from being a devotee of lord Shiv.
That's the thing, you can have all the power in the world but character decides everything.
Lord Shiva does not smoke. He has many devotees like God, Yaksha, Gandharva, Human, Rakshasa, Demon, Eunuch, Kinnar, Vampire, Ghost, Betal, all of them offer their favorite things to Mahadev as per their capacity.
The cosmic dance of Shiva gives goosebumps ❤️❤️❤️ it's written in Sanskrit - it is a language that is very difficult to capture the true emotions and perspective that is portrayed in the shlokas or songs, in English language- English language is too limited there are no words that fit exactly into the words of Sanskrit- thanks for your wonderful reaction 🥰🥰💐💐
Har Har Mahadev 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Please listen male version .... It gives you Goosebumps .. love from India ❤️
Sometimes when she is angry at me I can se the demon in her eyes.
bhai bach ke😉
ॐ नमः शिवाय!🙏🏼
*Shri shiv tandav stotram* was written by *Ravana* .
He was a devil but a great devotee of lord Shiva
*om namah shivaya* 🔱🔱🔱
Not devil. There’s only one of those. And he is a fallen angel. Ravana was a Brahmin man. Just not a nice one.
He is not devil bro he is an asura king. His mother is a asura and father is a great sage I literally forgot his name(brahmin) he learned all Vedas and manthras from his father and a great intellect too
Rawana king is the greatest emperor in Thambapanni 🔥
Om namah Shivay 🙏🚩🙏❤️🙏

It feels wonderful when you imagine that shiv tandav was created by Ravana himself to impress Lord SHIVA and exactly these words were chanted by Ravana to free himself.
Ravana was the most knowledgeable person and the greatest devotee of Shiva at the Ramayan's timeline, he was blindfolded by his arrogance....even when he was defeated by lord Ram and was waiting for his death, Lord Ram sent his brother Lakshmana to learn Rajdharma(duty of the ruler)
*Ravana was greatest devotee of lord shiva and most knowledgeable person on earth during his era*
Lovely... Om Namah Shivay 🙏🙏🙏
Lord Rama also wrote a devotional song .....to Praise Lord Shiv. It's Called Shiva Rudrashtakam.Hope u will enjoy it and also find the difference between the two great devotees
Namami shamishan nirvana Rupam... Yeah I love that one too👍🏻
Rudrashtaka was written by goswami tulsi das.
@@aadityavyass ok may be...I don't really know thanks. I just read on an old temple wall and memorised it as the pandits there would sing it every noon
I have memorized many hymns like Shiva Tandava, Rudrashtak, Lingashtak, Manas Puja, and many more.

Beauty of Hinduism depicts even the goodness of Ravana and appreciate it,accept that side of Ravana' s dedication towards GOD SHIVA.
true, RAVANA was the great devotee of Lord Shiva, that's the time he composed the stotram and danced too, his devotion made Lord Shiva willing to move to Sri Lanka where Ravana lived, but the arrogance about the achievements and the boons he received made him completely rude, after which he completely became materialistic and made fun of Lord Shiva too, but after he was killed in the Battle, Lord Ram had to pay his obeisance to the great devotee of Lord Shiva, and Lord Ram made a Shiva Linga from the sands in Rameshwaram and performed the cleansing of sins accrued by killing Ravana.
The way Uma Mohan ma'am composed this tune and voiced this stotram gave it a different feel and emotion.
Firstly thanks to Lankeshwar Dashanand Ravan and to Uma Mohan ma'am as well.

This strotam is so awesome to hear it...give big relief from stress....ravana composed it being a great intellectual and a true devotee of lord shiva ...but there is a dance of lord shiva on this song its amazing .. hope you will see that ,,otherwise sweet angel yes its very hard to remember all words ,all chants...and roger in this songs and words in it depicts who the character of a person was just by listening this strotam characterises anger, fire like demons like ravana if you hear hanuman chalisa its melody totally devotional for somebody depicts hanuman's devotional as good character so this is also something that you should see😊🙏🕉😊🙏🕉🥰
Thank you dear foreigners for promoting our ancient old culture... Om Namah Shivay /\ Har Har Mahadev....

Wow! That is fantastic!! You're
one of the rare ones here that can recite it! OmNamahShivaya
maturity is when one realize "sanatan is satya hai" means hinduism or sanatan is only true ... its really true n logical.... being on mahadev path one is true human

Om namah shivaya 🕉️🕉️🕉️
Har har mahadev, om namah shivay
You'll have to watch Ramanand sagar's Ramayana to fully understand each character, especially Ravana. Shiva is special because everyone, the devas and Asuras pray to Shiva and he blesses everyone who has sincere devotion to him. That is one reason he is called Bholenath.
Namaste 🙏 from India 🙏 🇮🇳 ♥️. Aum Namaha Shivaya 🕉
You know it is powerful mantra when you are listening it you will get positive vibes 🔱Om Namah shivaya 🔱
mahadev is destructor and also creator of universe he's light and he's dark too , he's the start and end too........ HAR HAR MAHADEV
Om Namanshivaay. Thank both of you.. May Lord Shiva lead you in your journey.
this strotra(song) can have a great impact while listening & doing meditation with full devotion. love from India
thanks for releasing shiv tandav strotra video

ओम् नमः शिवाय❤
I think lord shiva accept you that's why he introduced himself to you..that is the love of SHIVA
Sanskrit 💥 language has power in it ,It is highly scientific and perfect language...🚩😍
Ravana outlasted all the limits of being a great Shiva Devotee, Reaching powerful self, controlling all 9 planets under his feet, knowledge achieved etc
On the other hand Shri Ram was so humble, zero power depiction, just he followed his responsibility with utmost care humbleness and mind was so much away from achievements and glory
In the end every one knows what happened 🙂🙂
All that knowledge overpowered by ego...
Both Rama and Rawana were extremely Shiva devotees but there was a huge difference between Rawana and Rama in their behaviors and righteousness.

Love this Tandava..this was dedicated to Shiva
Yes, it is an amazing song! May Shiva always bless you dearest Sanstar
