I was going to say. I agree. I am a born Marathi but never lived in Maharashtra until now. I "heard" rather felt the Dhol at close quarters when my cab passed by a group of people playing the instrument. I really shakes up your innards :)
Things you need to know about him:
1. He “is” not just an emperor or king but lord to us
2. Given birth by a brave mother who taught him brave stories since childhood
3. Captured his very first fort at the age of 16 with handful of men and laid the foundation to a whole new empire
4. He was the “only” I believe king in the past and coming 1000 years who was pure, bravest and sensible ruler who knew his people
5. Respected women and even protected other religions too, was true to justice.
6. Smartest ruler and warrior
7. His people in his times would sacrifice themselves just for his words
8. Etc,etc,etc you can go through many brave stories of him and know why he means god to us.

King Shivaji is founder ruler of Maharashtra state & was a fierce warrior king. He is an emotion for Maharashtra and. Dhol Tasha is the names of Drums & snares used during these celebration. This is regularly seen in india specially in Maharashtra & it’s villagers

Shivaji Maharaj is our pride! I remember growing up listening to his Gujarati halradu (to help baby fall asleep)! He had a major influence on me as a child growing up in Gujarat!
Shivaji Maharaj was made of what I wonder ... he lived only for others. His every action was an epitome of patriotism.. thinking of him makes my eyes roll tears of joy and emotions at the same time. The kindest, courageous, respectful and etc etc... soul I can ever think of.
