Lemme explain budget to you (I belong to middle class ) My sister got married last year In total we had 5 ceremonies and then reception Total budget was around 35 lakhs In dollars , it'd be 42 k dollars Love from delhi india to both of you❤
For most common people in India, weddings are pretty much a once in a lifetime affair (yes because a lot of people, even if they do get divorce, won't have another big wedding) which is why we celebrate it like a big 3-5 day party. Parents use a huge chunk of their savings on their kid's weddings and the bride/groom use a lot of their savings too (we spend a lot), it's an extravagant affair and superrrrr fun!! Like a festival with live orchestra and dance performances and unlimited food and stuff 💖
In India people spend on weddings well beyond their means. Even a middle class wedding will look as fabulous as a rich one just with a smaller venue. And "The Sangeet Function" basically becomes a talent show.
I'm indian n the chainsmokers one kinda blew my mind as well like wth? Ps. In south india , atleast my state, the weddings r a bit more low key so ig that's why lol

Indian traditional wedding is an emotion, you can’t feel it on internet. You must come and be part of it and then you won’t go broke or die rather you’ll live with that emotional experience forever. And I promise you that you’ll dance 🕺🏻even though you ain’t know a shit about dancing, purely because of the vibe. One more thing, only bride’s costumes costs from $5000 to $ 1M, didn’t count jewelry.
Indian Weddings have been a expensive affair since long. Parents save up money their entire lives to take care of the marriage expenses of their kids. But the singing and dancing was common in North Indian Weddings, but it has become common in South Indian Weddings as well since the advent of Social Media. Now a days, we also have small music videos of the bride and groom that is shared later for people who couldn't visit for the ceremonies. USD 1000-2000 on just videography expenses is very common. Please note that converted to Indian currency that is a huge amount.
Basically, in India, divorce culture is not that prominent, so indians get married only once.....thats why we spend a lot on weddings..........i mean at the end its better to have a grand wedding of 5 days with one person rather than having a cold wedding 5 times with different person....🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Well in urban areas it consist three days but you go deep down into more rural areas it goes for months sometimes so many rituals and custom urban indian marriage can't even do 10% of it as compare to rural more village weddings specially in hindus you see😊
There are hundreds of rituals other than this done with family and in laws but of course, all siblings favourite is jhoota chuppai ritual. Grooms team vs brides team. It is the best fun to have in life.
On this note, next film to watch is Band baja baraat. Ranveer and Anushka. While story is around indian weddings, as they start a wedding planning business.
There are dances in close to every function in mostly Hindu and Muslim (barring exceptions) weddings in India. There's quite a few ceremonies and they change a bit based on what region you're in but the basic ones are the Mehendi (bridge and groom put henna on their hands, there are dances here too), the Haldi (turmeric is applied to the bridge and groom by friends and family, there's normally dances or just drums), Sangeet (literally translates to "music", and is a function where the groom and bride's friends and families have sort of a dance face-off), the Baraat (this is the groom's procession on the way to the wedding where the groom's side dances all the way from his room/house to the wedding venue to dholaks and drums, you'll often see this hold up traffic in India) and then there is the actualy Shaadi or Nikah (the actual wedding where no one really dances but there's a sufi or live musicians present to sing in the background) and then there is the final Reception (Where you call all the people who are acquaintances and weren't invited to the wedding or other ceremonies and it's where the bridge and groom meet everyone for the first time as a married couple). Keep in mind there's always "DJ Nights" or "Afterparties" between and after these ceremonies so there's a lot more dancing. Indian weddings are insane, I haven't even covered half of it and I'm sure I've said wrong stuff so forgive me!
I didn't see anybody explaining but sangeet literally means music in hindi. There's a whole ceremony dedicated to music in Indian weddings. And a lot of the time the groom and the bride sides of the families will make it into a friendly dancing/singing competition, its so much fun!!
Dancing in Weddings is simply a celebration of new bride and groom, also friends, cousins, siblings from both sides perform and also sometimes have competitions, sometimes bride and groom perform for each other. weddings in India is a big celebration almost like a movie.
fyi the family your talking about is a very famous family here in india , this family has many famous actors and 2 of them were even dancing. and the shah rukh khan was also present in that video
In India wedding is one crazy event, I am sure for everyone it is but we have no of rituals to perform, so it takes lot of days.. The events you mentioned are thr major ones but we have many other events in between and yes they are grand.. Not to the level of grandeuer of bollywoid for every wedding but depending on the financial capabilities, weddings are hold as grand as they could be on their own level as parents tend to save for children wedding right from the start and spend a major chunk of savings on their wedding even for a middle class normal person.. Dance and mysic is in dna of indian weddings.. We have a sangeet function which consists of all those dance performance, its basically a family concert and then wedding procession (baraat) whivh tkaes around 2-3 hours and all we do is dance crazily for that much time on random streets with blasting music and songs.. 😂Thats the most fun part..
Bro and sis this is only half the picture every indian state have their own wedding style u guys mostly seen hindi people wedding there are so many weddings styles and they are different from each other rajasthani people weddings, punjabi wedding, tamil people wedding, kannada wedding, telugu weddings, maharashtra weddings etc... some states will have similar rituals and some will have different rituals but one thing is common that is Indian wedding is a festival because for us it will only come for once in life
You should attend Indian weddings , It is not just one day program. It takes about 15 days or more. Families relatives, friends and neighbours take part With an average 300 people. Dance and music continue till final day of weddings ceremony.
The 3 - 5 days wedding bash is commonly seen in the Northern part of India. In southern India its a vedic marriage and reception ceremony. Bollywood has by the way spoilt the sanctity of Indian vedic marriage ceremonies especially in the north (specific regions). But i am really happy southern India has maintained the sanctity and the spiritual process.
Parents start saving for the wedding the day they get pregnant, even more so if its a girl. The whole reason an Indian goes to work is to send the children to the best college in the world and then go broke on their wedding. An average Indian wedding costs about $50,000 for the middle class. But everyone spends more than they can afford on a wedding. Also, all the weddings you watched are North Indian and of the upper middle class. South Indian weddings don't have all this choreograped dances. They are a much more religious affair. Not that it makes the wedding any less expensive. Instead of spending money on grand locations and designer clothes, they spend it on gold. Literally, kilos of gold are involved in South Indian weddings (especially in Andhra). And yes, do see Band Baaja Baraat, for the next movie. It shows both middle class and upper class weddings and how those beautiful "sets" are created.
Every wedding in India is festival Dipawali is our biggest festival all around the india which come just ones in year but the wedding is ones in lifetime so we spend lot of money in we work to reduce the money for environment but still lot of money we like grend celebrations
Wedding is not just a ceremony in india its like a proper gathering of family and relatives enjoy every rasm (ceremony) mehendi is henna ceremony, haldi is turmeric uptan ceremony, sangeet is totally dedicated to singing and dancing night, wedding day is for main event. Dancing is our part of culture thats why its normal here in India.
Okay, here is the low down on Indian Weddings. When people have weddings they have those 3 events as mentioned in the video. The sangeet is like the party before all the traditional stuff happens like the haldi and the actual wedding itself. The sangeet is where all this happens. Throughout the whole wedding, the Bride's side family and friends are competing with the groom's side. It's mainly very minute stuff like the bride's friends/family hiding groom's shoes for money. But then you have the sangeet which is basically like a friendly dance competition between both sides. In the end, it is all fun and games and is just a way to get everyone to participate and make the whole thing as special as it can be. And yes it does cost a lot of money, but parents usually start saving up for their children's weddings when they are little. That, splitting the cost with the other parents, and possibly a loan makes this stuff possible. Or in Ambani's case, you're just loaded. Hope this helps :)
Apart from that Uncle, most of these weddings are of top 0.1 percentile people. But i agree most people spend big portion of their life savings on weddings 😅
Even here you wanna do north south 😑 We indians only No north or south! Even in North of india each state has its own wedding culture. So stop your inferiority complex here always doing north south tattus
Dance anywhere 😂😂bro if you attend middle class indian wedding, we actually go dancing from groom's place to wedding venu on DJ and then never leave rhe dancefloor empty its always full, until 12am when police stops us and we always say- f*** man we just started having fun ,why so soon . I haven't dance on my fav.song yet 🤣🤣🤣🤣we don't care if we are out of alcohol or main dinner but starters and dance must last long
Well even in villages in India , wedding have loud music , playful ceremonies and huge dance breakouts where the whole village participates. Not necessarily Bollywood music , it can just be some percussion instruments. Might not look so fancy but still a perfect celebration. South Indian wedding are very different . It’s more traditional and sober.
1) parents keep money aside all their life for their children's wedding 2) people spend a LOT on weddings here, many even taking out loans 3) there's a LOT of guests invited, everyone you know comes and sometimes they bring along people they know too 4) the groom's procession (called baarat) is when the groom & his extended family and friends come to the bride's house/wedding hall for the wedding, no matter how far it is, they come dancing and singing, you'll often see hoards of people on roads dancing and singing while slowly reaching the wedding hall (you guys should watch some baraat videos) 5) both the guy's and the girl's side prepare performances and often try outdoing each other 6) people hire professionals wedding videographers, editors & photographers to capture everything 7) the main events are - mehendi (where people make henna designs on the bride & groom and whoever wants to get it), haldi (where they apply tumeric on the bride & groom and others because tumeric is supposed to be good for your skin), sangeet (for singing and dancing although all events incorporate that in some amount, this is where the majority of it happens), and then the wedding ceremony (there's also several other fun rituals like putting the bride and groom's rings in milk and they both look for it by plunging their hands in the bowl and whoever finds it first is said to be the boss in the relationship, and one where the sisters of the bride steal the groom's shoes till he bribes them with money to give them back and many more). hopefully someday y'all can do videos learning more about Indian weddings because they're a BIG part of the culture and very fun to explore!
Not all Indian weddings are the same. I've attended big (1700 guests) as well as small ones a few hundred people and they are all fun, irrespective of whether they have singing and dancing. The food is spectacular, the clothes are amazing and the cultural traditions are of utmost importance.

We spending millions on wedding dresses 😅 and jwellery in some cultures is pure gold or diamond 😊 I had a traditional wedding and our wedding lasted for 7 days including reception and all the other rituals. We got married within 6 months of getting engaged so we had to prepare for all those 6 months. Starting from booking a banquet hall, caterers, decorators, cinematographers, makeup artists to buying clothes, jwellery (both original and imitation), sandals, shoes, to accessories while also arranging for all the rituals, priests, inviting thousands of ppl to looking after their every need. Its a hell lot of work, money and your time. ❤ But the main thing is we enjoy each and every moment to the fullest. ❤ Approx 1400 ppl came to my traditional wedding at my hometown 😅 couldn't imagine the numbers if I had gotten married in a metrocity (where more ppl coulf have come). 😊
In india wedding is a once in a lifetime thing for an individual and parents spend as much as they can in the wedding and invite most of the people they know. Also your family amd friends perform for you on the wedding it's a very normal thing. We even prepare performances for our family's weddings. Also indian culture includes some very important ceremony that's why it takes atleast 3-4 days in a wedding as in tilak, mehndi, sangeet, haldi and the main wedding day. Each function has its own story. Also everyone dress their best in the wedding. Sparkles and jewelry are very normal in india in weddings
Earlier it was just a family affair. We Indians sing and dance on every occasion so friends and family would do just that. Now of course it has become more choreographed
That last song Sakhi Ri Mangal Gao Ri is sung by Kailash Kher, this song and RAMCHARIT MANAS''s Chaupai are played in every single Indian wedding ceremony. RAMCHARIT MANAS is the holy book on Lord Ram's whole life.
10 to 15 lakh is our low budget wedding 😂 that means its no limit for this happiness i am going to married in just 2 yrs ❤ with my bf 😊we are saving a lot for this and in Bengali gold is the main in wedding from both sides groom and bride gold is important 😅
no actually there is a lot of singing not just in sangeet but almost all ceremonies.. there r those specific songs that aunties sing with dholak.. now a days in sangeet we just dance.. but singing is a must in all ceremonies
I think dancing is more common than singing because there are certain steps that everybody knows (through bollywood indoctrination) and can easily follow. Everyone in India dances in varying degrees of good but most people can't sing that well.
some of them are not millioners but they really prepared and spent a lot of money for that event. some only takes 3 days of celebration when they have "enough" money for it. including the hotels stay of their guests more or less than 50 to 100 people if you have an average family members. 😁 and the dance choreos mostly months of preparation to 2 weeks at least. 😅 they also need more than 5 dress for the bride and groom on that event.
That's the reason of low divorce rate in india , we spend so much that we can't afford second marriage 😂

Indian weddings are amazing and fun ❤
Lemme explain budget to you (I belong to middle class )
My sister got married last year
In total we had 5 ceremonies and then reception
Total budget was around 35 lakhs
In dollars , it'd be 42 k dollars
Love from delhi india to both of you❤
People go bankrupt for the wedding. I'm not even lying
😂
U are indeed lying. No one goes bankrupt doing weding here.
no1 goes bankrupt. people spend their black money on weddings which they cannot invest otherwise.
Oh God the best reaction ever 😅😅😂😂they are so blown away by all this and this is normal for indians to witness ofcourse ultra-rich weddings are not very common..bt still indians spend a lot more than they can afford on their weddings🤣🤣but efra and Waleska reactions are highlight of the video for me😂😂
Whole savings is the money 🤣
You can't judge a book by it's cover for Indians specially Indian Aunties and Uncles , they can dance better than most of us 😅😅😂😂❤❤
Wedding is the day when we ourselves realise how rich we are!!😂
Basically, in India, divorce culture is not that prominent, so indians get married only once.....thats why we spend a lot on weddings..........i mean at the end its better to have a grand wedding of 5 days with one person rather than having a cold wedding 5 times with different person....🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Most of the single guys and girls dance to show off their personality, cuz they are next in line to the altar. 😂
In the usa parents save for college. In India parents save for their kids weddings.
It's no less than an annual function at school. Every relative prepare performance. And there is also Bride's side v. Groom's side dance off
Indians are already rich
Its just that they spend wisely, where they seem correct and wedding is once in a lifetime thing
That was pureee.. my brother & Sister... So cute... & genuine.... Thanks for reacting....
4:12 this song is a must in majority of North Indian weddings nd if u ll see translation of this song ,u ll realise it is actually a sad song.
Real Hindu community weddings with beautiful rituals also looks good
Specially in south indian states
Every wedding in India is festival
Dipawali is our biggest festival all around the india which come just ones in year but the wedding is ones in lifetime so we spend lot of money in we work to reduce the money for environment but still lot of money we like grend celebrations
My Mom has been saving up for my wedding even before i was born 😭😭😭
😂😂,.. It's really hard to make them understand these things.
Apart from that Uncle, most of these weddings are of top 0.1 percentile people.
But i agree most people spend big portion of their life savings on weddings 😅
Indian wedding>>>❌
North Indian wedding>>>✅
This is part of North India wedding. each and every state have different rituals and style
Even here you wanna do north south 😑
We indians only No north or south!
Desi weddings are similiar to eachother, alot of fun, dancing, colours, a million parties =D
7:30 WHAT ARE YOU DOING MAN! 😭😭😭 What Pandaaaya 😭😂
🤣
10:45 that silence tho🤣🤣🤣🤣
1) parents keep money aside all their life for their children's wedding
2) people spend a LOT on weddings here, many even taking out loans
3) there's a LOT of guests invited, everyone you know comes and sometimes they bring along people they know too
4) the groom's procession (called baarat) is when the groom & his extended family and friends come to the bride's house/wedding hall for the wedding, no matter how far it is, they come dancing and singing, you'll often see hoards of people on roads dancing and singing while slowly reaching the wedding hall (you guys should watch some baraat videos)
5) both the guy's and the girl's side prepare performances and often try outdoing each other
6) people hire professionals wedding videographers, editors & photographers to capture everything
7) the main events are - mehendi (where people make henna designs on the bride & groom and whoever wants to get it), haldi (where they apply tumeric on the bride & groom and others because tumeric is supposed to be good for your skin), sangeet (for singing and dancing although all events incorporate that in some amount, this is where the majority of it happens), and then the wedding ceremony (there's also several other fun rituals like putting the bride and groom's rings in milk and they both look for it by plunging their hands in the bowl and whoever finds it first is said to be the boss in the relationship, and one where the sisters of the bride steal the groom's shoes till he bribes them with money to give them back and many more).
hopefully someday y'all can do videos learning more about Indian weddings because they're a BIG part of the culture and very fun to explore!
Not all Indian weddings are the same. I've attended big (1700 guests) as well as small ones a few hundred people and they are all fun, irrespective of whether they have singing and dancing. The food is spectacular, the clothes are amazing and the cultural traditions are of utmost importance.
Small= a few hundred people. You do realize in western weddings having a 100 guest is considered HUGE!!!. In India, 100 guest is a miniscule wedding.
@@shubhra183 I live in Australia, so, yes, I know what a Western wedding looks like. Which is why my comment was specific to Indian weddings, no room for any confusion.
Amazing that you haven't seen any of the rare but brilliant music yet!!, eg:
1) 'Dhadke Jiya' from Xulfi (from an older, sweet, romcom with Aamna/ Aftab),
2) Xulfi / The Call (his band) performing Live - Dhadke Jiya'..
3) Mustafa Zahid / Roxen the band - 'Toh Phir Aao' (Levis Live, Pak) - they did the ending song in Aashiqui 2 too,
4) 'Jee Le Zara' - Vishal Dadlani (Aamir Khan film),
5) The Call - 'Jilawatan' (pepsi battle of the bands, Pak) - spellbinding!!,
6) EP/ Fawad Khan - 'Hamesha' (live at Pepsi battle of the bands),
7) 'Toh Phir Aao' (Jal the Band, live at Pepsi Pak) - epic!
Guys feature some normal weddings in your show. You will amaze by dance and singing talent. You know normally every indian can dance.
Only punjabis can dance happily to a sad song and make it a happy song.
Earlier it was just a family affair. We Indians sing and dance on every occasion so friends and family would do just that. Now of course it has become more choreographed
Indian weddings are just amazing.
my parents started saving money for my wedding even before i was born 💀...
Yesterday was my uncle's silver jubilee anniversary. Me and my cousin hosted the event and did 2 dance performances 😂 and that just us.
The dance during the sangeet and mehendi of indian weddings is SERIOUS. It is the guy’s side vs the girl’s
No doubt that Indian weddings are the most luxurious and expensive weddings in the world ❤

no actually there is a lot of singing not just in sangeet but almost all ceremonies.. there r those specific songs that aunties sing with dholak.. now a days in sangeet we just dance.. but singing is a must in all ceremonies
Nita Ambani necklace in weeding is Pakistan GDP can you imagine that 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂
I think dancing is more common than singing because there are certain steps that everybody knows (through bollywood indoctrination) and can easily follow. Everyone in India dances in varying degrees of good but most people can't sing that well.
some of them are not millioners but they really prepared and spent a lot of money for that event. some only takes 3 days of celebration when they have "enough" money for it. including the hotels stay of their guests more or less than 50 to 100 people if you have an average family members. 😁
and the dance choreos mostly months of preparation to 2 weeks at least. 😅 they also need more than 5 dress for the bride and groom on that event.
I so deseperately hope that you attend an Indian wedding😂❤
It would be so much fun🎉
you've seen a ton on non-cliche movies too, Tamasha, Barfi, Rockstar - all without weddings dances :D
