I guess I can definitely say I never thought I'd be worried about being put on a watch list for watching a video game review until today. Holy shit, I can't comprehend that this is made by the same guys who did Megaman Zero.
Welp, that was unexpected. Putting asides whatever morality you could apply on these games, I just never see the appeal of something with such crude, underwhelming gameplay just for the sex appeal factor. If I wanted material for that, the internet has more than enough of it, for much less effort and money too. And if it's meant to be humorous, I dunno, it feels like the joke runs thin very fast to make a whole game out of it. It sure was a surprise when I played a demo of this or a very similar game on the PS3 japanese store ages ago, I'll say that much.
I’ve heard of these games in passing but was completely unaware that they had the same developer as Mega Man Zero and Gunvolt, this is the type of anime game that Quagmire from Family Guy would have the time of his life with
Also glad you're enjoying Sakura Wars, i see that PS4 play history lol. Looking forward to a video if that's in the works, one of my favorite games and series after playing it. Such a happy time
So basically the shooter version of Senran Kagura. Neat. Although Senran Kagura is stupidly fun with its gameplay and amazing music and a good story. By comparison, with Gal Gun Ive never heard much that got me interested in it beyond a passing glance.
I'd never thought I'd see you tackle such a oddity of a series. As a person that jumped into the series starting with 2 and working my way backwards till I reached the first/Returns, I just find these games just dumb fun. I went into 2 with uncomfortably, braved into Double Peace prepared with the madness, and then trudged onto Returns with a sense of just being desensitized to it all. Haven't played VR yet though because I don't have the money for VR stuff. Though, massive respects to you having to platinum all of the games, because I don't have the strength to do that yet. I just usually have my fill with getting all endings, and that's it, even if that's still a pretty big handful. I can kinda just turn my brain off, listen to the bubbly, but still pretty good music, watch the, all things considered, pretty wacky stories, and shoot away to some basic, yet still sort of satisfying on rails shooting while scream internally during certain minigames. I guess I was a bit surprised that you didn't mentioned the Godlike Rank in Double Peace, because I always thought that was a challenge to get. Though that might just be me being dumb because I actually never use the doki-doki feature during nearly all of my times during the series unless I was forced to in story beats and stuff, and it was mostly because I just plainly forgot it exists, like you said with the charge shot that you have in Double Peace. Part of the reason why I enjoy the series is weirdly enough, the continuity and world building of the entire series. Or maybe sometimes the lack of continuity. Like with Aoi returning in Double Peace, but two other main girls in the first game are practically nowhere to be seen past the first game, other than Kaoruko since she's graduated and statues was built in her honor around the school. What happened to Kaname and Akira? We literally don't know. Maybe they just moved to a different school or something, but that would be a boring reason. Or how apparently a pair of twins in 2 are apparently from parallel world, who can bend ice and fire respectively. Like... What?? Are we just gonna skim through those descriptions they give? Some can say that maybe they're just lying but... With all the crazy stuff happening in the series, coming from a parallel world doesn't seem far fetched. I digress... It's all just silly fluff at the end of the day, but it's fluff that writers and translators have to come up with and they're having some fun with it, and I can appreciate that. And that's not even covering stuff like this series' ties to Gunvolt, because that's another whole can of worms I don't want to clutter up this comment with. All things considered... I can at least say that Double Peace is probably the best one of the series. I just think it's just more complete, and it has a better pace than 2, and yeah, those defending missions also kinda broke me. And... At least Grim Guardians looks promising!
This was my exact train of thought through the intro of this game while I was working. Seeing the thumbnail: Gal Gun? What's that? Wait isn't that that chick from Mighty Gunvolt? I have been curious about that character since I played it. Mentions inti creates and their repetoire: Oh yeah I love their games. Mentions Gal Gun is a Japan exclusive: OH is it? Odd, I wonder why. Mentions it's a rail shooter: ... wait a second why does this now seem familiar- The first two seconds of gameplay is shown: **insert SGB Elliots many panicked screams as I rush to put my phone screen down before my coworkers can see**
NGL, I wanted you to talk about romancing the angel and demon in the second game. No, i have never played it, but I was paying attention to the video during the character select screen. 32:30
He has his limits because it's very clear that Clement is one of those guys who respects women and feels uncomfortable getting into stuff like this. This side of Clement actually reminds me of an LPer RUclipsr I know.
As a certified loser; the thing that gets me with this series is that it doesn't really do EITHER job well. It's not exactly the best at riding that fine line that Ecchi Manga/Anime does, nor are they particularly good as games on their own. Nothing horrible, but nothing great, either. Just a series that exists that you'd be better off spending the time you spend on it on actual games or just actual porn. Good video, also.
Oh this, the one thing I remember from this franchise is the $90 dlc in double peace that "Adds 'Pheromone Z' item to the Academy Store. Upon purchase, the sight zoom can see through clothes instantly". Yep, senran kagura has its gross moments too, but at least the main gameplay is actually fun and challenging (in the main series games, burst and versus), you can probably skip the spin offs though.
@@cadethumann8605 it's actually a jab at people who would buy that DLC since it's literally a paid version of that one item Clement mentions you can buy with the in-game points. No I'm not kidding.

Actually, Gal*Gun 2 isn't banned in Germany! The game was initially refused to be sold within Germany and I think Pqube might've fought hard to get the game released in Germany, and after around a year later, the game was able to release in Germany with an 18+ rating. Interestingly enough, the game before it, Double Peace, was able to get released without any problems in Germany under a 16+ rating. So, that whole situation was very confusing and personally pretty worrying for what games can be released in Germany. But in short, nah, people in Germany can enjoy the full Gal*Gun series as is, if they so desire. Also, I find it amazing that Inti Creates put their foot down by not releasing it on Xbox when Microsoft demanded them to change parts of the game for Gal*Gun 2 so it can release on Xbox, AND publicly stating all of that, that takes some courage. Good on Nintendo for allowing anything that the age rating boards allow and not forcing some kind of censorship on third-party developers for almost all cases. Personally, my favorite one in the series is Double Peace. The amount of dialog for sidequests, the somber and serious parts of the story, the goofy and perverted as heck parts (I personally enjoy both parts, I like the somber moments because that gives the girls more depth, and I like the latter part because I like the feeling of being weirded out xD), I like all of that. Though, uh, yeah, it totally is not a game for everyone, the games are pretty messed up. If you aren't fine with what Gal*Gun has, then you really shouldn't play those games. Even if you like the developer's other games. ^^ Though, to be honest, I was pretty disappointed at how lacking Gal*Gun 2 felt. I wish the main girls in that wouldn't have turned out to be angel and demon. They could've had more down-to-earth personalities for each of them, and it really felt like it was going that way, but then they pull that card for both of them, that's a bit disappointing. There's no real way to mess up and get a bad ending either. It was very easy to get a bad ending in Double Peace, so, not having those gives players less to think about, which I think sucks. After playing from Double Peace, I expected more from the series. That, and the fact that it's STILL just the same highschool and environments again, yeah, I wish they could have more settings than just those school environments, the street to school, a cave and a park... though, given the game doesn't seem to sell well at all, even in Japan, I kind of understand why they can't really make something on a bigger scale. And yeah, there is a pretty concerning amount of DLCs, but that's kind of tradition for commercial bishoujo games. I don't like it but other bishoujo series (e.g. Senran Kagura, Omega Labyrinth, etc.) do that too. Given that the genre is for mostly for a niche audience, that's probably how bishoujo games make their money back...
This video was enjoyable, and honestly my situation as a Galgun fan is weird. I'm into it for the relationship writing, the light hearted aesthetics, and the awesome music to the games. I'm not even attracted to girls especially high school ones. While I enjoy Galgun Double Peace the most as a game, I find myself most invested in Galgun 1/Returns. The aspects of what I like most about the game is that the game feels like it is the most sweet. It just feels like your playing a romantic visual novel game with railgun gameplay and the occasionally playful ecchi moments. I appreciate Galgun 1 because of the appreciation for the different romantic candidates, dedicating different events and having more diverse dynamics than how more down low the other installments put into the franchise. And the fact that game dedicates different OST tracks adds to the differences between the romance candidates as well. I find myself addicted to the different themes of the different routes and honestly Galgun 1/Returns feels like it is the entry that had the most baskets into the romance candidate elements of the game. While the other games kinda dedicate too much into the horny elements that the writing falls kinda flat especially with how each story is made compared to one another. It doesn't help that the scale of events is kinda trimmed in Galgun Double Peace especially. Overall, I like Galgun as a series but for the specific aspects I like about it. It should try to make another game like Galgun 1/Returns again by trying to make the different routes actually feel like different experiences even aesthetically setting wise.
Here's the thing, and don't think bad of me for saying this: the concept of this franchise... _isn't that bad??_ Like, the idea of a rail shooter where you shoot down girls who are all lusting over you with visual novel romance stories tying it together is pretty creative and could even be potentially funny. ....if it weren't for all the weird-ass shit the game makes you do. If the games didn't have the doki doki field, if the games were set in a college where the fanservice elements would _at least_ feel less awkward and more suitable for the age rating, or even if the s*xual situations were more implied than outright shown... than with some fixes to the gameplay, this series wouldn't be looked at how it is. But no. It's just another Japanese oddity.
You'd be suprised at how many people are actually into this sorta stuff, if you have played the game by Atlus, Catherine, there's one question the game asks you on if you consider yourself a pervert. I'm not kidding, this is actually one of the questions the game asks you. And if you think that's weird, you should see the poll result of the amount of people who answered the question with basically 90% of men admitting that they're a pervert and 60% of women admitting that they're a pervert. It's crazy at how many people in the world are into this sorta horniness, and it explains a lot.

At least they want to be there… the characters are just blowing off steam. It doesn’t change his point. None of the girls and gaga are doing what they’re doing because they want to.
@@AnInkStick The characters are still underage. Doesn't matter whether they "consent" or not.

Love this video-essay type of content! I think you do it very well. Been a fan for almost ten years now, so happy to see you're still making stuff! ^^
I guess I can definitely say I never thought I'd be worried about being put on a watch list for watching a video game review until today.
Holy shit, I can't comprehend that this is made by the same guys who did Megaman Zero.
4:29 I played Gal*Gun 2 to death to get everything, and that devil girl saying HELL in all caps all the time hot HELLA annyoing really HELLING fast!
This game puts a smile on my face 😁
Man, even I noped out at the Pacifier
Even i reached a Limit i guess
@@DasKame that pacifier reminded me of a sidequest in a yakuza game
Such a happy time
The funni Azure Striker Gunvolt prequel series
Well, this is the last type of game I thought I would see in this channel, but I'm all for it.
Mentions it's a rail shooter: ... wait a second why does this now seem familiar-
The first two seconds of gameplay is shown: **insert SGB Elliots many panicked screams as I rush to put my phone screen down before my coworkers can see**
This was the last thing I expected from Clement but this is absolute gold, like the entire goldmine
27:45 "I don't consider myself a prude" Spends the entire video complaining because the game caters to a fetish he doesn't enjoy.
Seriously, I could hear the pearls he was clutching so hard start to shatter as the vid went on
This game's plot is eerily similar to Huniepop's plot
I was thinking the same thing
What is huniepop about
Also I'm sad you didn't even go over some of the wild special editions for these games and the "cleaning cloth" one of them comes with haha
Last time I was in a introverted fanbase that was bewildered by such an oddity, that was Transformers and Kiss Players.
Why did you have to invoke it's name and bring forth memories that should've stayed forgotten?
I just don't understand why people don't have this level of disdain for violence in media when it's even more non-consensual.
Because they dont actually hate this the way they claim, they just see it as an opportunity to virtue signal about it.
Christian raised prudes, gotta make a stir about hot girls or else hes gonna go to hell
Oh this, the one thing I remember from this franchise is the $90 dlc in double peace that
"Adds 'Pheromone Z' item to the Academy Store. Upon purchase, the sight zoom can see through clothes instantly".
Yep, senran kagura has its gross moments too, but at least the main gameplay is actually fun and challenging (in the main series games, burst and versus), you can probably skip the spin offs though.
90 dollars for a nude mode?! That is pretty scummy practice in so many ways.
@@cadethumann8605 it's actually a jab at people who would buy that DLC since it's literally a paid version of that one item Clement mentions you can buy with the in-game points. No I'm not kidding.
Hey don't knock the tentacle monsters there.
That's the reason why I LOVE games like this.

No way, they turned the weird chick from Mighty Gunvolt Burst into a franchise!

I love the Gal Gun series; I think double piece was the best out of the 3. Yeah it is perverted, but there is fun in the stories.
Sometimes I ask myself how games like these were created? How does one come up with something this ridiculous?
At least we got Korona from this franchise haha

Though, to be honest, I was pretty disappointed at how lacking Gal*Gun 2 felt.
Ah Gal Gun, Inti Creates' most cultured game franchise.
This franchise feels like a weeb's fever dream...
Man, even the Weebs have Limits
Inti Creates's reputation is stained forever now. All you have to do to see it is shine a blacklight on their hand!
Don't wanna like this video in fear of RUclips algorithm recommendations so here's a comment instead, cheers
Welp, looks like Clement's getting demonitized, LOL
Oh damn this game, I really gotta play this
Here's the thing, and don't think bad of me for saying this: the concept of this franchise... _isn't that bad??_
Like, the idea of a rail shooter where you shoot down girls who are all lusting over you with visual novel romance stories tying it together is pretty creative and could even be potentially funny.
....if it weren't for all the weird-ass shit the game makes you do.
Many of these games could be easily solved if they were either toned the hell down and given a T rating to match, or set in college, to be honest.
