Just finished a engine swap on a 08 2.5 Altima. I watched this before hand & the leg work looked like torture. I pulled both axles & lifted out the engine/trans as one unit with the complete wiring harness attached. The wiper cowl, wiper arms & sway bar bracket must me removed to get room to clear the engine. Once it was out all the leg work can be done outside the car. The engine was swapped & everything bolted up & dropped in as one unit. Remove the crankshaft bolt & oil filter to clear the side. Cover the oil filter housing threads with black electrical tape so it doesn’t get damaged.
Thanks for that suggestion. I have an '08 w/2.5 that needs pulled. Contemplating installing a 3.5L for more power. I need to replace exhaust anyway, including cat near manifold. Did you do a straight swap, 2.5 with new 2.5 or did you go with bigger motor? Thanks!
Thanks a bunch for your video, boss kept saying it was an easy engine pull leaving the transmission in, your video opened his eyes, even though I am having a stroke now, I am about to put everything back and pulling it out as a complete assembly, you rock man
I always dropped the engine and trans out the bottom of those cars...use the hoist to lower them gently on a piece of plywood, then use the hoist to lift the front of the car over them
I just did that to a 2002 Sentra Spec V and took out the engine and trans as a unit. Luckily I had a forklift to lift the whole car up. Worked smooth as silk
I got an 2003 nissan altima but I wanna swap a new engine I found a 2014 but idk if that swap has been done would everything hook up the same if I got a 2008 2.5L swap it into my 03 altima?
Maybe someone will respond, my daughter's Nissan altima broke a serpentine pulley.. Both bolts snapped off in the block. Its next to impossible to drill out and retap do to space. I would Weld the damn thing but motor is aluminum. Without cutting a monster gash in inner Fender, would I be better to lower motor from bottom by lifting the car up or is raising the engine? I'm simply trying to get more room to drill and tap 2 bolts for pulley. They have broken twice now.
I don't know Maybe I mean I've seen people do crazier things as long as you're willing to modify like crazy if you do it send me a video link man I'd like to see how you did it
I'll be honest you would have to see what changes because the transmission might be different from motor to transmission from year to year so I wouldn't know what to do of I have a job myself like that l'd be able to see what changes give you a answer sorry
All Nissan Altima's are great swapping Subaru WRX engines as options. On the other hand, try using a Honda Accord engine for that Nissan Altima, that is what I do.
I have a 3.5se v6 but it has 228,000 miles, it runs great never get a light, no leaks nothing like that but I’m ready to change the engine. Is there anything else I should do with changing the engine, like should I redo the seals and all of that ??
If your getting a new/ rebuilt engine then no but if your get a used one then yes changing the seals and gaskets is a good idea before you put it in i did the same thing with my civic's engine I did a full rebuild and changed all the seals and gaskets that I could change you do a little more work but its worth it
You'd be better off buying the car with that motor in it already the amount you're going to have to do to it is enormous you have to make sure the motor fits you have to swap out your entire electrical harness along with the computer so you're better off buying the car with the V6 already in it not to mention that you might have to swap out a few other things I don't know why but it's like that sometimes when I do work
This works also on the rogue and murano also and versa, it is better for me to remove it like this instead of trying remove the subframe and both motor and transmission together
Very difficult if you have ever seen seen mighty car mods or honagans on RUclips you'd have seen what they do to modify old vehicles with modern Motors basically same work for what you're thinking it'll be a complete overhaul it's not impossible just time consuming I think of you look it up on RUclips someone's already done it I think they take you step-by-step on what they had to do to do it
If you ever get to do that engine swap and make a video of it I definitely will check it out I'd like to see what you had to do just put that in I think I saw someone put a Skyline motor into that car not sure
I know it looks impossible like if you have to take it off but I thought I would have to take it off too but with what I did to the transmission it gives you plenty of room
I just did it today I work on commision as a mechanic I removed mount it barley slid back so I could get it in wish I could seen this video so I wouldve saved time haha
@@heavyfoot8679 quick question, I have an 08 someone asked me to swap an engine for. What effect would grinding off that oil filter guard. It looks like grinding it down would provide a solid inch of wiggle, and I personally would think that it would not affect performance. I'm' just curious what your thoughts are about that idea?

Torque converter started glcoming out with the engine , thanks for the vid 🔥

Doing a 2.5 swap atm cause a thrust bearing was in the oil pan. Thanks for the tips

It’s easier to take off with the transmission, put together outside and then install all together?

Can I put a Civic type r engine and transmission in the 2.5 CVT? Cuz I said it as a joke at first but now I'm super tempted

Cut off the oil filter guard with a grinder avoid that headache of moving trans

when installing the low mile engine will it start of do I have to program the compute or the key for it to start?
As long as it the same engine it will run low miles or high miles
The only time you have to program key or computer is of your swapping there one of those two thing
