I just swapped my stepper motor on my Mitsubishi Outlander following this process and it actually seems worse. I'm not sure where I went wrong but I did everything as shown. When you pull the Allen key/pin out will you hear a noise from the arm attached to the stepper motor? Mine made a slapping noise of sorts.

Spent $550.00 to have this stepper motor replaced in my daughters 2012 Nissan Altima with 158,000 miles on it…Essentially flushed that $550 🦌’s down the 🚽 as the repair didnt fix her POS CVT transmission!! Intermittently comes & goes, specially when on a hill! Any body have any other ideas besides replacing the transmission ($5-$6k) ?!? 😡
It's REALLY NOT that difficult. Most important tips, keep your hands clean, keep track of all the varying size bolts and where they go, TORQUE EVERYTHING back to spec, and obviously anticipate the costs to refill with fresh fluid. Christ sake don't use guess work on tightening 50 cent bolts on a 4500.00 CVT transmission. OH and don't be the idiot who uses their DeWalt drill to install the bolts, save the DeWalt for another day 😂
I'm just amazed at how well you did this. Great job. Question 🙋... Could I change the whole valve body instead of just the step motor? I have a junk yard who has 2012 altima? Mine is 2010.
Thank you for providing this helpful video! It enabled me to successfully repair my 2008 Nissan Rogue. The tutorial's instructions on removing the bolts from the valve body were accurate. I took the extra step of labeling all the screws from the valve. I strongly advise wearing protective goggles, as it can be quite a messy job. Based on my experience, I also recommend labeling the transmission pan bolts to avoid any mix-ups, which I encountered. Additionally, I applied silicone to the pan and allowed it to cure for 24 hours before adding the CVT oil. I measured the amount of oil drained and added the same quantity. After starting the engine, I shifted between gears to ensure the CVT fluid circulated through the transmission. Initially, I noticed a bit of sluggishness in acceleration for the first few minutes, but after about five minutes, the vehicle ran smoothly without any issues. Many thanks and God bless you for sharing this invaluable video!
Hi i changed the step motor, now i have the code p0868 low pressure fluid, and the trasmission is not shifting, it goes high RPM. At 20mile per hour iam at 6000rpm. Please help
I have codes for pressure control solenoid & torque converter clutch solenoid.. this will pretty much be the same job right? Will I need to worry about the Allen wrench thing replacing those? Any tips much appreciated
Having these same issues with 2007 altima 2.5 s 277k miles, but it's not showing any codes. I've replaced both speed sensors on the transmission and the problem persists. Without the codes present, should I still try to replace the stepper motor and see if that helps or would you assume it is something else causing this issue?
i did everything step by step and all gears were drive. i got back in and realigned the little lever thing and now all gears are neutral. i got back in AGAIN and swapped to the old step motor and i still have no gears. its throwing p1777 after changing it out and it was p1778 before changing. i dont know what to do

I swapped out the stepper motor and fluid along with cooler and it seems like it’s stuck in low gear only.car will speed up but the engine will rev to the moon if you let it, not slipping just stuck in low gear
Try replacing the valve body it’s a jf011E you can find new ones on eBay. If that doesn’t work you’ll need a whole new transmission
I CHANGE THEM ALL THE TIME, SOME TIME IT MAY BE THE STEP MOTOR. BUT SOMETIME THE VALUE BODY GOES BAD TOO
I just swapped my stepper motor on my Mitsubishi Outlander following this process and it actually seems worse. I'm not sure where I went wrong but I did everything as shown. When you pull the Allen key/pin out will you hear a noise from the arm attached to the stepper motor? Mine made a slapping noise of sorts.
Best video I've seen o this cvt I was looking for input on holding that swivel fork that is held with that access hole doesn't body know if that round pin that sits inside of transmission and wraps around by that swivel fork is that piece supposed to move freely or not
Hey man thanks for this helpful description.
I have the same exact problem but I don’t have check engine light on. And I didn’t get any code!
Do you think I just should go ahead and change the step motor?
My car is 2008 maxima same transmission
One hell of a sunburn
Fantastic video. Procedure was spot on. My only issue is it stays stuck in basically 1st gear. Before it felt like it was stuck in the highest gear. Any thoughts as to what the issue is? Or what I did wrong?
Fixed it?
I noticed that the old stepper motor arm is a bit more extended than the new one. Does that matter? Thanks
Great video!
Well I I finally replaced it then I found out I couldn’t shift gears and it was really hard… I don’t know what’s wrong it even gave me another code p1777 instead of the 17778 I had before I replaced it
You know more about cvts than most mechanics!
Hey do you know if the process will be the same on a 2012 altima 2.5s
Same transmission so yes exact same process
i have the same problem and same car did you try this ? if so is working good now ?
Excellent video. Very informative with lots of small details. One of the best RUclips videos. Enjoyed watching! Bravo!
Appreciate Buddy! I have same issues on my 2012 Nissan Xtrail 2.5 auto 4wd, replace the step motor, but seems running no gears, it does have gear auto change before, i did put a long pin to that hole before put value body back, anything wrong?
🏁🔴🟠🟢🏁
Thank God I found this video!!!
Yay! Yay! Yay!
My 2009 Altima is doing the same thing but no codes. Was your car throwing codes, check engine light on?
Amazing video. You explain terrifically. Very intelligent. How did you burn your arms so bad man?
Thanks young.....gracias joven you help many people with you information....
I ended up replacing the whole valve body about a year after this video, so not a bad idea to just do the whole valve body while your down there
How do u know if the value body is good from the junkyard @@budgetdrift6403
Who would thumbs down this!? I mean I got lost after the different size bolts but I admire ur tenacity
Nissan and the dealership who will giv👎
@@mohamedsalam7895 facts 😂
Did not help my car. It helped a little bit but the transmission still slipped whenever put pressure on tranny. Ended up replacing it
Thank you for providing this helpful video!
Thanks, I guess I will be doing this next week to a 2009 2.5 Altima (Dang kids)
Good luck!
thank you. what causes the step motor malfunction. I have replaced 2 in a span of 4 months.
Great Video, saved Thousands of Dollars... Thank You
Glad I could help! :)
i did everything step by step and all gears were drive. i got back in and realigned the little lever thing and now all gears are neutral. i got back in AGAIN and swapped to the old step motor and i still have no gears. its throwing p1777 after changing it out and it was p1778 before changing. i dont know what to do
Can anybody help me pls....got the same symptoms...car wont pass first gear......but no code...do you guys recommend me change this step motor on my transmission?
So when you take the pan off, is going to leak the 11 quarts cvt fluid you put in at the end?
just making sure so i start to order the fluid.
Look like same instructions as far as internal bolt removal applies to Rouge 2008
Ordered mine off amazon did urs come with oil residue on it? Or is mine used?
I got the code p17f1 cvt judderr, but all my car has is a whining noise while idle that goes away when my car goes above 5mph.
followed the steps, easy enought. car changes gear but it will not shift at all. did i miss something or i might have a bad step motor. will need to go back down to recheck everything. any suggestions will help.
I had similar issues...being mechanically inclined I thought transmission right away...but in fact Nissan sentra 2015 have issues with the throttle body...clean your throttle body on your engine and it could be the solution...after 30k miles of this issue it went away when I cleaned mine
Wow just saw 11 qrt waaa I know this procedure works but Nissan recommended 5 to 6 is max guess it's a typo
Do you have a link on where to buy the stepper motor from? I need one ASAP and $25 is better than EBAY @ $149
GREAT Job for a young kid. Next time use a large Tarp to Save your driveway.
