Thank you Timothy! I really appreciate hearing what you liked about the video - helps me know how to keep getting better. Glad you will be following along.
As always, great to hear your method. Especially, in these kind of circumstances where you have to make decisions between gear. I’ve solved my low-light woes shooting with some of the Voigtlander lenses, but shooting events would’ve definitely require the zooms. So I love to hear your rationale behind your decisions.
Just bought my gh5 and I shoot as well as play in a band so this was really helpful! I like to shoot the rest of the show when I’m not on stage and I was worried about all the negative hype of the low light performance of the gh5 but everything I’ve seen here looks amazing! Thank you again!
Thanks for watching. The key is having a lens that can open really wide and let all that light in. The sigma 18-35 totally changed this camera for me. Good luck!
I’m so glad to see you still reply to all your comments on this video. I recently got a killer deal on G9 and I’m falling in love with the camera but it has a 10 minute record limit with 4K/60 which I’ve heard I can get around with the Ninja. what I can’t figure out anywhere is how long you can record on the ninja with one battery. Do you happen to have a ballpark idea of how long you could go on that battery without need to stop and swap? Thanks in advance.
Hey, thanks for the comment. The record time on the Ninja 100% depends on the battery size and quality. With a large NPF battery I'd say 60 minutes is your max record time, but probably closer to 30-45 mins in most cases with average quality batteries. The Ninja also comes with a dummy battery that plugs into the wall so you can run it non-stop. You could also look into a v-mount solution. Good luck!
I shoot live events also . I do really like your setup. And some great points you make . Thanks for the info. We are shooting Nikon DSLRs for the most part and one gh4. The gh5 with the IS is a plus for sure . We use a SteadyCam and a now a Moza Air 2 . Small light and mobile is nice too. I’ll definitely look into this setup. Thanks N Peace .
FANTASTIC VIDEO. Back in 1979, when I first started to go to gigs, WE WERE ALWAYS SEARCHED FOR RECORDING EQUIPMENT. Not every gig but at most gigs, we were frisked by security then allowed in, SONY PRO TAPE RECORDER was the best recorder at the time to have but other manufacturers were making good tape recorders and as for video tape recorders, they did exist on a professional level but for main stream public level, they did not exist but slowly, during the eighties, they could be hired from certain electrical stores but were extremely expensive to buy. ALL THEM BANDS, CONCERTS, FESTIVALS that took place back in the day that occurred but never recorded by the band, just because the band or even the manager or show promoter SAID NO. WE WILL NOT RECORD THIS EVENT TONIGHT. I did like the tape traders in the eighties though. These guys alone promoted bands just by sending tapes to other countries if the punter was willing to listen to new up and coming bands and old concerts on tapes. FANTASTIC TIMES. Now with modern technology at hand, go to a gig now, just as the band hits the stage, EVERY ONE WHACKS OUT THEIR PHONE AND RECORDS THE SHOW. GOOD THING AND BAD THING. LET OTHERS RECORD THE SHOW and you DANCE AND MOVE TO THE MUSIC. THATS WHY YOU CAME TO THE SHOW. NO ONE MOVES AND SWEATS ON THE FLOOR NO MORE. SWEAT =GREAT SHOW. COME AND ENJOY THE SHOW. LET THE BAND SEE YOU MOVING TO THEIR MUSIC AND HAVING FUN. THE BAND THEN REACTS TO YOUR ADRENALINE AND THEY NOTCH UP ANOTHER GEAR. ENJOY THE SHOW PEOPLE.
Wow, this setup is sooo small ! I love how compact you have built this ! Just for fun i checked the price for this setup if i wanted to go to panasonic.. and it's 4500$ in my place. Soo, i would have to sell a loooooot of my current gear to get this ( the a7rii, the zeiss 35 f1.4, my liver, etc ) But, it's sooo compact, once again, i really love that form factor ! Well done Scott !
@@ScottBell The "if" is subtle in "if i want to go to panasonic" but that's always in my mind, the killer cinematic combo with the 18-35 and the atomos is reaaaally sexy for me. I'm not happy with the color range i can have for my grading with the sony a7rii. I will wait til the a7siii comes out to see the option, i have managed to makes some grate things happen in my everyday life, the video part is the cherry on the cake, but it's not that important right now, it will be soon enough when i make some room for clients work in my schedule. But yeah, your setup is really nice !
I keep getting happier with the GH5 as I learn how to better expose and grade footage. My main frustration with the camera is for photos. I really want a hybrid camera that is great at both. Sony seems like the best option for that.
Cheers George, the GH5 is a pretty amazing camera. I've had it for two years now and am very happy with my choice. I'm debating if I want to add a GH5s or Black Magic Pocket Cinema 4k to my collection.
thanks man if you do choose either camera please post a video of your thoughts about either one I would love to see it, thanks again for your experience
this was just awesome Scott, thank you so much for making time to create and share this - I've been sitting on the fence re. the decision to invest in a Sigma 18-35 + Metabones M34 but you nailed it, I'm 100% getting that - and I've also been unsure if I needed an external monitor / recorder, and I lvoed the value you showed a SmallRig cage + he Atomos Ninga V gave you - bang, two for two.. legend.. thanks mate, your'e a rock start ;-)
Thank you Dez, I'm really glad to hear you got so much value out of this. The Sigma was a game changer for me. I've been a little frustrated with the Ninja V is quieter situations lately, as the fan noise is quite loud, but still a great tool to have in the kit.
@@ScottBell - great tip re. the fan on the Ninja V, will keep that in mind.. and I'm investing in the Sigma 18-35 + M34 thanks to your amazing video. Looking forward to further updates, they are 100% worth the time, thanks for investing in our learning ;-)
Hey Kevin, not sure which settings you want, but feel free to drop me a line on IG if you want to chat it through. That said, I don't use autofocus on the GH5 as it can't be trusted. Thanks for watching!
Hey Scott, new GH5 owner and new subscriber. Thanks for the information you shared. I don't shoot concerts but I am interested in what this camera is really good at. So far, I'm just doing promo videos for businesses in Colorado, but I'm growing. Lots of great information in your video and your comments. I'm looking forward to going through it in detail and more of your videos. Well done sir.
Dig this video, I’ve been transitioning from concert photography to shooting more video instead. I also use the gh5 and lately have been using an external monitor, but having a monitor that is also a recorder like the ninja v may be a little better for my purposes as well. I really like how you can fold down your monitor. Small footprints are always welcomed.
Really useful content - thanks very much - I like your style and it's directness - good sound so not exhausting to watch. The guy who can't cope with the eye contact - please remember it's not his fault he is up that end of the spectrum! But for all us weird nuerotypicals I think your approach works fine!
Hi Scott. Great video, but why dont you consider switching to the GH5S and then throw it on a glidecam or a gimbal to get that better low light capability. I love the stabilization on the gh5, but you could win a lot for your type of work with the GH5S. /pete
Hey Peter, I'd like to pickup a GH5s as a second camera eventually. I shoot a lot of outdoor activities so the GH5 serves me best for those things. Concert and event videography is fun but a secondary function for my rig. Thanks for your thoughts and for watching.
Thank you very much :) You are so great Scott :) I look for the Rig. The backpack is to large for me. Have a good time :) I watch your videos Many greatings to you Scott Roland
Yeah! It was a lucky side effect I noticed and now rely on. Just gotta remember it doesn't backup your 4k60p 10 bit footage as that can't be recorded internally.
I have shot a lot of concerts with the GH4 and more recently, the G9, and I use a much more stripped down body than you. Two cams, black rapid, 12-35 and the 35-100. It's just so easy to get well lit footage at the sort of shows I shoot that I don't have any real need to use lenses from other formats. I shoot a lot of bigger shows though, in arenas or outdoor festivals, so I barely have to do any work, I guess.
I love that SmallRig mounting thingamajig (SMALLRIG Field Monitor Holder Mount with Quick Release NATO Clamp - 2100, add it to your affiliate links!). I saw that on another video and it's made my life with field recorders so much easier. It's pricey for what it is ($50). There's also a screw-on for $40 and an ARRI Standard mount for $50, but the NATO mount is the one I end up using as I can switch it out for a handle or any random thing. It works well for the heavy Shogun Inferno (which I had serious trouble supporting) and the Ninja V which I use now.
Thanks, Scott. Can you say what you have the camera's mic setting on when you use the little Rode mic? I most often use other Rode mics for the ambient sound with the camera set to -12db + gain on the external mic. I get the concert audio from the board. Of course, that is not what you were addressing in this video. But we do use the little Rode for B-Roll. Do you have the camera set for auto, since it has no settings on the mic? Do you get much camera motor noise? The next question no one has been able to answer. We are supposed to be able to shoot continuous on the GH5. However, it does spit the concert into about 3 clips during an hour long performance. How can I keep one continuous file so that it is easy to synch with the entire board audio. I am the house photographer at The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley. I often shoot alone running one main camera. on a tripod, while navigating around the venue with a monopod for B-Roll. I would love to run the main camera until intermission. I would be grateful for your response.
Hey Irene, I have my GH5 set to -12 db. There is plenty of volume put out by this tiny mic that this gives me some safety from clipping and I can always raise levels a bit in post if needed. On your second question, there is no way to avoid the file being split up. That said, it's still a continuous recording so you just need to sync the first clip with the audio and the rest can be dropped into the timeline in order following it and everything will be in sync. The only way to avoid this would be to shoot with an external recorder like the Ninja V. Best of luck!
Hey how do you feel that mic does with a lot of bass? I have the VideoMic Pro (the one that takes a 12v) and my main complaint is that I hav to turn it on. If you forget to turn it on you're fk'd. Been thinking about going down to this one since it is always on essentially. Great video. I have a g85 with a small rig cage and am looking to build something similar for when concerts return. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching. I wouldn't really rely on an my on-camera mic for much. If I'm shooting a live band and will be using the audio I would try to get a feed off the mixing board or position a higher quality microphone somewhere in the room and record everything into an external recorder. That said, this mic would probably do alright but not great at picking up bass.
Cheers, thanks for watching. I've moved on from the Ninja V myself. I don't find it adds enough to my workflow to warrant the hassle. I shoot internal to the Canon C70 now and it's great.
@@dark-california I'd go GH5 personally. The image stabilization is amazing and the 4k image quality is much higher. You also get more slow motion options if that matters to you.
Cheers, thanks. I use natural - 5 contrast, - 5 sharpness, - 2 saturation. The GH5 produces great results right out of camera as long as you properly set your white balance.
Scott Bell thanks Scott, do you set your WB in camera or do you use a color than change it in post? I own a GH5s and returned a Gh5 because it was poor in low light but now that I have a EOS R as a A Cam I will use the GH5 as B cam and sell my Gh5s , I really, really , really miss the IBIS and having that on a wedding to capture peoples emotions is crucial! I mainly use my 18-35 , canon 50mm 1.4 and Rokinon EF Cine t1.5 .
@@lenufotografiaefilmagem7539 I set WB on camera. You can only push the colors so far on post so getting it close when you shoot is important. I just upgraded to a zcam e2, gh5 will be my b cam in a lot of situations now.
Scott Bell Nice! Zcam E2 looks nice, I just sold my BMPCC4k yesterday, it was slowing my work flow with the huge file sizes! I have now a EOS R as “A Cam” when I need to fly on a gimbal, AF, Low Light and quick B-Roll, my GH5 is a my B-Cam, I sold my Gh5s because oh boy I missed the IBIS soooooo much! Specially when shooting event such weddings and trying to capture peoples emotions with the camera shaking looks like I am in a action movie 😂.
Wow! I was looking for exactly this setup! Can you please make a list of the parts you used? HDMI cable, battery, SSD drive ...? Awesome video! Instantly subscribed!
Hi Rudolf, thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. Here is a bit of the gear you asked about. HDMI Cable amzn.to/2F45Z2L SSD amzn.to/2T06j6a GH5 Batteries are Panasonic and Newmowa NPF Batteries came with my Aputure lights. Smallrig cage amzn.to/2UtZ3kw Smallrig EVF nato mount amzn.to/2NX4eal
Hi Scott. Great setup and great video. I have a quick question. What GH5 cage are you using in the video. Also what mount are you using for the Ninja. I like the way you could tilt it back and forth Thanks
Hi Irene, it depends on the light colors. I just try to get skin tones to look correct based on my eye. This might mean they are blue sometimes, and purple other times, but so long as its accurate to what it actually looks like then I'm happy. It's a tough environment with lights color always changing.
@@ScottBell Yes, Scott, it is a very difficult environment and most often it depends on the lighting designer, if there is one at all. I am not a fan of dark magenta skin, that is my main concern. If I have no control over the lighting, and get purple skin, I will sometimes throw a slight sepia filter on the clip in post. But like you, I just try for the best my eye can see. Since the light is changeable, even a color meter during sound check is useless. Keeps us on our toes, right? LOL.
Hey, there is really no single best lens. It all comes down to what type of shooting you do. The Sigma 18-35 is a really solid all around lens that is good in low light due to it's wide aperture. That said, if has no image stabilization so if you need that you'd be better off investing in something else. I recommend most people have a few lens that allow them to cover everything from around 18mm-200mm as each focal length gives you a different look.
@@AfricanTheArtist The brand is Sigma. There is a link in my description for it. You'll also need a Metabones Speedbooster if you want to use it on the GH5.
Nice video. I appreciate the effort put into sharing the information. I looked at the Small Rig cages on the B&H website and there are a few options. Would you mind sharing what model you use?
Hey Bruce, thanks for watching. I use the SmallRig 2049 for the GH5 amzn.to/2JkCFWC It's overall a pretty good cage but I've found it can sometimes come loose since it's only attached to the body by a single screw. A bit of gaff tape between the body and the cage helps keep it from swiveling so it stays tight longer. Good luck!
Hey, glad you enjoyed. I shoot in Natural or Vlog depending on the situation. I can't say Vlog gives you that much more power but for some reason I think the image looks a bit better when I start pushing it around in post. That said, it's more work to expose properly so I only use it when I have the time it requires and the project really needs it.
Nice video and really informative. When you go to festivals, do you arrange in advance to come in and shoot? So many festivals say " no professional cameras" or "no cameras with removable lenses" that it makes it impossible to attend and shoot.
Thank you, very good video! Nice setup. Scott, Have you ever tried viltrox speedbooster adapter? Some people says that its not as sharp as with metabones. The Sigma is really heavy lens, do you sometimes use some lens support? Take care!
Hello. I tried the Viltrox. I can't say if it's less sharp than the Metabones, but it did notwork with a manual Rokinon lens which works fine on the Metabones. For that reason alone I decided to spend a bit extra and get the quality Metabones. The Sigma is a bit heavy but I haven't found a need for a lens support. I'm frequently switching to a m43 lens for telephoto shots so having the lens support would be annoying to take off all the time. Thanks for watching!
3 questions: 1.) If you have/wish, would you get a cage to incorporate a battery grip? 2.) Could you live with the Shinobi and record internally with the GH5 or would you recommend to skip it and invest in the Ninja V? 3.) Would you use/replace the 35-100mm f2.8 for the Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 if you could?
Hey Chris, Thanks for stopping by. Here are my thoughts on your questions. I hope they are helpful. 1) I debated the battery grip when deciding on a cage and decided to go with something slim. Much of my work is outdoor filmmaking so I'm in the backcountry and want as small of a rig as possible. Adding the battery grip, while nice for continuous shooting, isn't worth the extra bulk for me. I'd rather carry extra batteries and swap them out. Also, I've invested in the Power Junkie that will allow me to run my camera on NP-F batteries if I'm looking for longer runtime. I haven't figured out how this will fit on my rig yet as I'm still waiting for it to arrive. 2) I've looked at a few videos of the Shinobi and it looks nice. That said, it's not THAT much more expensive to get the Ninja V that gives you some options to grow into. In the end it depends on what you need. Recording internal at 400 Mbit is definitely 100% acceptable in terms of great quality footage. You'll just need to transcode the footage to reduce the CPU load during editing. 3) I haven't looked into the Sigma 50-100 at all. On a quick review, it looks big and heavy. As with the battery grip, I'm always balancing rig size with capabilities. I find the Panasonic 35-100 f2.8 suitable for 90% of my situations where I need a telephoto lens in that focal range. If I were to invest in anything at this point it would be a longer lens rather than something with a larger aperture.
@@ScottBell Thanks for your feedback! 1) Your probably right. I've always viewed the battery grip as a benefit to make the camera look 'more pro' and to give more battery life for timelaps. However, looks can be just that of my own perspective of what I think they might be thinking and that should not matter. And if I wanted to do long exposures, adding one battery still has its limits. I should look more into the Power Junkie as a better more versatile solution as well. 2) Your right, the differences on the unit itself is not that much. But once you got it your going to want to record to it so I look at the cost of SSD as well as extra batteries to compensate the power needs. Do you find the weight to be any sort of an issue for all day shooting? Have you ever found yourself wishing it was lighter even at the expense of not be able to record? 3) I have the Oly 40-150 f2.8. Its a great lens, but I'm at the point of wishing it were smaller for how often I use it. As neat as the Sig 50-150 looks on paper, I don't see myself using it as often to justify the expense. Maybe I should look into Pany 35-100 f2.8 as well... ... My lens set up that I like: Pany 12-60 f2.8-4 Outdoors with an VND, I find myself shooting at f4 anyways. Sig 18-35 For the same reasons everyone else loves it. Sig 16 f.4 Cause I want a fast lens I can carry with me when I don't plan to use the Sig 18-35. Its too heavy. Oly 40-150 For those long shots Laowa 7.5 for my wide stuff. The point I'm getting at is I feel on m43, f2.8 is too slow for indoors, and f4 insures I get things in focus for run and gun outdoors. I don't use AF.
The weight of the Ninja V is a bit more than using other small field recorders. It's noticeable for sure. I also have a Feelworld M5a which has a nice display but lacks a touchscreen. If it's a gig where I don't want to risk damaging the Ninja V or I don't need SSD recording I'll use the Feelworld, as it's lighter and cheaper. In terms of f2.8 not being enough to let light in, I guess it depends on what ISO you are comfortable with. I sometimes will use Neat Video in post to clean up really noisy footage. If I stay with Panasonic I will probably eventually get a GH5s as a low light/B Cam and sell my G85.
Thanks for the feedback! I will probably end up with the Ninja V to 'future proof' my set up. You've pushed my perspective with the Rig to something smaller. I do like your set up in your video, its compact yet very capable. Cheers!
@@chrisklugh Cheers Chris, happy to give you my perspective. It's always evolving but I feel like my gear acquisition has slowed lately which is nice :)
Thanks for watching. Glad it was helpful. I use manual focus 99.9% of the time that I'm shooting with the GH5. The autofocus is unfortunately too unreliable. Good luck with your shoot!
Hi Scott, great rig ! How do you manage the latency of the Atomos Ninja V ? I'm looking for a external monitor / external recorder but after all my research it seems to be a lag with the GH5 whichever monitor/record you use. I've read that the latency of GH5 + Ninja V is 300 ms all combined. I didn't find a proper video test which shows what it looks like and how it affects your accuracy. I want to able to focus precisely on moving subjects whith that shallow depth of field. Is it/was it an issue for you ? If so, how did you got around it ? I'm guessing that the latency is even worse with a Feelworld MA5 ? Thank you !
Awesome! This is the difference between a tutorial which tells you information you will actually use, and someone reading the specs sheet. Also 10:09.. don't we all.
Hey, I really like your video and especially the part with the ninja V, because I also got one and it drastically changed my video quality + improved the auto fucus a lot! Now I consider buying sigma 18-35 (the same you have) or sigma 30mm 1.4 with the metabones 0.64. my question to you is about the auto fucus: can I really on it with this lens + this booster?
@@ScottBell it does help the auto fucus for sure. I'm making a video right now, to show people that gh5 can bring Sony auto fucus. Write me If you're interested in the setup and settings
I feel your pain when it comes to having the gimble the whole time. I’m thinking of changing that part of my set up. I was surprised that you don’t have an LED light as part of that set up tho. Do you find the good lenses reduce the need for one?
Thanks for watching. Yeah the gimbal is tough to run for a full night and I don't think it allows me to get as many shots since you are always fussing with it if you are switching lenses. I'm mostly shooting the band so a light isn't going to do much for me. I've never found it too much of a problem if you have a Speedbooster on with a lens wide open.
@@ScottBell Thanks for the reply. I really don't have any experience with speed boosters yet. I currently run a GH5 with a G Vario 12-60 lens. Do you think that that's mu issue with low light as the f-stop just isn't low enough? Even with an LED light, I just can't get the ISO low enough at low lit events. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
This is dope man - thanks for the rundown! Just ordered the Laowa 7.5mm f2. 0 - super wide but I'm hoping for improved lowlight without shelling out for the speedbooster / Sigma combo - guess we'll see! Sub'd

Totally agree, I love dancing and happy to let a photographer or videographer do their thing to capture the event when I'm not working 😁
Very informative with good detail.

Great video, Scott
Thanks, glad it was helpful.
Wow, this setup is sooo small !
I love how compact you have built this !
Just for fun i checked the price for this setup if i wanted to go to panasonic.. and it's 4500$ in my place.
Soo, i would have to sell a loooooot of my current gear to get this ( the a7rii, the zeiss 35 f1.4, my liver, etc )
But, it's sooo compact, once again, i really love that form factor !
Well done Scott !
Thanks Lucas, first time I read this I thought you said you WERE selling your setup to get this :P Glad you like the video and the rig.
Sony seems like the best option for that.

this was just awesome Scott, thank you so much for making time to create and share this - I've been sitting on the fence re. the decision to invest in a Sigma 18-35 + Metabones M34 but you nailed it, I'm 100% getting that - and I've also been unsure if I needed an external monitor / recorder, and I lvoed the value you showed a SmallRig cage + he Atomos Ninga V gave you - bang, two for two.. legend.. thanks mate, your'e a rock start ;-)

That's great. I love the flat monitor, makes it easier to capture low angle shots.

That is right. Love the GH5 for outdoor filmmaking and run and gun shooting.
Not shooting any concerts soon, but got some good info, thanks!

that gh5 is popular. wedding shooters love em.... if i go 4k its either that or the a7riii
Yup, it's a solid camera. Best of luck with whatever you purchase!
Dang! I didn’t even think about the “backup” that the SD card could provide when you have a Ninja V...
Yeah! It was a lucky side effect I noticed and now rely on. Just gotta remember it doesn't backup your 4k60p 10 bit footage as that can't be recorded internally.
@@ScottBellThats a great point, thanks!
Yeah, it's instrumental to me for weddings and guarantees that I always have a copy.
Did that change with the firmware upgrade? My G9 can do ten bit 422 internally.
Great content and rig!
Cheers Henrique, thanks for watching
I have shot a lot of concerts with the GH4 and more recently, the G9, and I use a much more stripped down body than you. Two cams, black rapid, 12-35 and the 35-100. It's just so easy to get well lit footage at the sort of shows I shoot that I don't have any real need to use lenses from other formats. I shoot a lot of bigger shows though, in arenas or outdoor festivals, so I barely have to do any work, I guess.
Nice, sounds like a good setup for your needs.
Yeah that mount is awesome. Some SmallRig things seem like such a deal, then little components like that are so pricey. Totally worth it though!
@@ScottBell Thank you so much for the clarification, Scott! The clearest answer I have gotten. Good to know about the consistent -12db!
I use the GH5S and a bad ass mic. I’m divided on whether I want a Ninja monitor or not. My live concert footage is pretty dope already.
Cheers, thanks for watching. I've moved on from the Ninja V myself. I don't find it adds enough to my workflow to warrant the hassle. I shoot internal to the Canon C70 now and it's great.
Enjoyed watching it .. . .. 👌

@@ScottBell Nice. Thinking to get either a GH4 or GH5. What do you suggest ?

Nice vid Scott! Stunning images! What is your favorite Picture Profile? Especially for weddings and kids events (great skin tones) ! Thanks!
It's awesome, it's this Smallrig Monitor Mount with Nato Clamp amzn.to/2TEc92o. Works so well!
@@ScottBell I just ordered one, thanks!!
What is your white balance method for stage lighting, Scott?
LOL.
@@IreneYoungFoto Yup, just have to do the best you can in that situation. Good luck!
What's the best lens to invest in that will give me best quality finish whether day or night
@@ScottBell Thank you 🙏🏾
What brand is the sigma I'm looking into it as I have the same GH5 as you ?
@@AfricanTheArtist The brand is Sigma. There is a link in my description for it. You'll also need a Metabones Speedbooster if you want to use it on the GH5.
@@ScottBell very intriguing thanks again ✌🏾
Dope man. Nice one.
Cheers, thanks for watching.
Good luck!
@@ScottBell Thanks for the info. I just watched at your Show Reel. You live in some beautiful country.
@@ovp2go Sure is! New reel coming reallllll soon. Working on sound design now.
Nice Informative video! What profile do you shoot? Have you tried VLog? Is it worth the upgrade? Thanks
Glad you liked it. When I shoot festivals or shows it's prearranged. Either payed (preferred) or in exchange for entry.
I checked out the speedbooster in the description. It states "Special Fit for OMD". How does this differ from other Metabones adapters?
I think that just means it is also compatible with Olympus m43 cameras. Any 0.71 Speedboaster, Canon EF to m43 will do you fine.
@@ScottBell Awesome! You said the aperture opens to a 1.3, right?
Yup, 1.3 equivalent!
maan! you're cool i really love everything about the video for sure i'm a new life time subscriber
Thanks! Glad to have you along for the journey.
I agree man!
Awesome mate. Cheers #iSpike 👍🏻

3 questions:
1.) If you have/wish, would you get a cage to incorporate a battery grip?
Maybe I should look into Pany 35-100 f2.8 as well...
... My lens set up that I like:
Pany 12-60 f2.8-4 Outdoors with an VND, I find myself shooting at f4 anyways.
Sig 18-35 For the same reasons everyone else loves it.
Sig 16 f.4 Cause I want a fast lens I can carry with me when I don't plan to use the Sig 18-35. Its too heavy.
Oly 40-150 For those long shots
Laowa 7.5 for my wide stuff.

Thank you !
Hey, thanks for the note. Honestly, the latency has not been noticeable enough to matter to me.
@@ScottBell thank you for your answer ! Would you say the same for the MA5 ?
@@Atefvinc Yes, about the same. I know a lot of people say the latency is an issue but I've never had a problem with it on any monitors I've used.
Awesome! This is the difference between a tutorial which tells you information you will actually use, and someone reading the specs sheet.
Also 10:09.. don't we all.
Thanks for watching Matt, glad you enjoyed the video. Best of luck in your concert filming endeavors!
Glad the video was helpful. The ninja v doesn't change how autofocus behaves. I would also not count on autofocus through the metabones.
@@ScottBell it does help the auto fucus for sure. I'm making a video right now, to show people that gh5 can bring Sony auto fucus. Write me If you're interested in the setup and settings
I don't see how it's possible since the ninja is only a recorder but would be interested to hear what you've done.
Sub'd
The Laowa 7.5 f2 is a beast for live shows. And also I use ZhongYi Optics 25mm f0.95 for close up shot.
