Thanks for the very detailed review of this cage. I am interested in this for my GH5, so I can power and control my Nucleus Nano. It's an expensive cage system, but Tilta gear is high quality and it looks like a well designed system. I presume you can attach a quick release plate to the bottom of the cage. Any issues or limitations to attaching a QR plate? Is there any wobble or play in the top handle?

You can check my unboxing video for GH5 there you can see the QR mounting parts it comes with + there is enough holes under the cage to mount anything basically. Hope this information helps. about the off/on switch, i'm pretty sure every cage has that problem. i have a smallrig cage for mine and i occasionally have issues with flipping it (and my fingers aren't fat either)
Smallrig products are also realy good. I went with Tilta becouse I bought Tilta nucleus fallow focus system. Now I can control focus with handle and Nano focus wheel. I am not sure if smallrig has smaller fallow focus system? Of course it is possible to use Nucleus Nano fallow focus system with Smallrig cage. I went with Tilta ecosystem but I am sure Smallrig is awesome as well.🤙👍

Thanks! I am glad to hear that you liked it. You can for sure use the focus motor for the zoom as well. I have also focus gear rings attached to the zoom on the lens. That would be more ideal on the autofocus cameras tho. It is hard as a one man crew to control zoom focus and camera same time. But with a autofocus camera it is a gem. I have pre-ordered the Sony A7IV and that is one of my projects stay tuned to see the final result you gonna like it:)
Hi everyone! I can't figure out one thing about follow focus. People buy Nuclear Nano motors, Tilta follow focus systems etc. Why no one makes just a knob, that can be plugged into GH5 micro usb port? So that focusing is controlled by that knob. I am talking about lenses with their own motors like popular Sigma 18-35. My Moza Aircross 2 has a knob that can control GH5's focusing. Please someone just produce that KNOB!
That’s insane....it reminds me about modding an Harley Davidson....maybe with the same amount of money spent for this rig you would afford an Ursa....anyway...very impressive job...👍💪
mmm... i dont think so. This tilta kit is 460 USD, and the Ursa alone is 6000. Plus, to use the Ursa on set you still MUST rig it (you can't use those real cameras without a rig, and the bigger ones don't even have a screen). This is a nice rig indeed.
Glad to hear that you liked it! I got the focus rings from Amazon. They are Tilta Tiltaing Seamless Focus Gear Ring. I am using (75-77) and (78-80) they fit perfect to sigma 18-35. I also added product link to video description in case if you cant find them. Let me know if you need more help.

You can also get rid of the Viltrox play with a small speedbooster holder that screws in the lower side of the speedbooster and the front of the cage. It looks like your Tilta cage also got the screw holes for that. SmallRig produces that kind of speedbooster holder, it's pretty cheap (around 10€ I think) as well.
After watching your video I bought this cage kit with the Nano Nucleus - all fine and 2 weeks later the shutter release stopped working all else is fine another shutter release I have works fine, the button obviously still works to turn the handle on and off but shutter does not work the shutter on GH5 II - It did for two weeks now not. Any ideas?
I am sorry to hear that you faced with this problem. Mine works just fine and i have been using more than a year now. You said you had another shutter trigger and it works. Thats good news so your camera is totally fine. So problem is on the handle switch or the cable. Double check if you are connecting the cable ports in correct order. If that dosent solves the issue you should contact the company for the guarantee. It looks like you might have a faulty unit. Please keep me updated looking forward for your reply.

Sorry for the late reply. You can control the TILTA focus motor wirelessly while connected to the to the the TILTA focus powered handle. There is only one drawback. You have to control it with wireless TILTA handwheel remote or TILTA focus powered handle. They dont work same time once you turn the TILTA handwheel remote it deactivates the TILTA focus powered handles focus wheel. But other functions keeps working on the handle such as record button. Also it keeps powering up the fallow focus motor. I hope i didn't confuse you let me know if this was clear enough or if you have more questions.

Hi I received my my tilta nano motor and guess what? they sent me a complete set of wireless follow focus system while I paid for motor only which I choose in their variation it happens to me in tilta products two times it's a win-win hehe but in smallrig sometime they sent u wrong item!

Thanks for the feedback!👍 You just put another thumb to my wound. That's unfortunately not possible once you take one of the battery out it cuts the power outputs of the V mount battery plate. I wish it would be possible also. But I have to mention that two fully charged Sony NP-F970 batteries last really long and often times there is no need to change battery.
Thanks for the feedback! You can find the andoer v mount adapter link in the video description that's where I plug the dummy battery. I use 7.2Volt port. If you use 3th party dummy battery make sure it is connected to 7.2V higher voltages might fry your GH5. I don't trust any 3th party dummy battery to plug it to higher voltages.

Actually this lives on my tripod these days. To use it on shoulder there has to be attached shoulder pad. Then it is possible for sure. And on front I disconnect it from bottom plate than it is less heavy for B rolls. Hope this information helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.🤙

I got it from aliexpress so I can't recommend it. There is always a risk with dummy battery. You have to make sure it has protections builtin. If you check video carefully you will see I have taped the extra outputs in andoer v mount battery module. You wouldn't like to plug the dummy battery to 15V it can fry your camera and damage it badly if dummy battery doesn't have protection. That's why I don't want to recommend the one that I use which is third party product. It works for me but I don't trust it to recommend someone. Panasonic has its own dummy battery which is more expensive but that I can recommend for sure. Sorry I know this wasn't so big help but I hope you will understand. Let me know if you need more help.
looks pretty cool , but It defeats the point of a GH5, a compact and powerful camera. All my videos are shot in a GH5 and I never needed any crazy rig to capture the shots I needed.
For sure it is not a must. GH5 and lens is enough for the job. But this rig pretty much stays in my studio and i disconnect the main cage if i am taking it outside. So its easier to zip it. I have another video coming up this week. I will be explaining those setups in that video.
@@SonerBaysal I think there is no right set up.... there is only the right setup for you. As longes and you are happy with it, is the most important thing.
I've gotten the previous version of that Tilta cage with the wooden handle. The problem I have is that every time I shoot 4K @ 60p 10 bit to the Ninja V.... when I press stop from the wooden handle, it won't stop recording and sometimes it doesn't start (I don't have that problem with 24fps 10bit) Do you also have that problem?
GH5 is not capable to record 4K 60p 10 bit internally it can only output that format to hdmi output. You can use external recorder to record that footage yes. GH5 itself is not also starting record when i click record in this mode. So its not about to Tilta handle it acts same how GH5 does in this mode. Rest of the modes i had 0 issues record function of the handle. It works in rest of the modes 8 bit and 10 bit only 60p 10 bit dosent works becouse of the GH5 capability. I hope i was ableto understand your question correctly. Let me know if its clear or if you have any other questions. Cheers.
I have been thinking about it already for a long time but it is really hard to decide witch one😂 I have been going in between Tilta and Polarpro. Do you have any experience with any of these?
I am using Lowepro Protactic 450AW. I love this bag. Its rugged and big enough for my needs. This rig goes to peaces fast so if i want i am able to fit more gear in it. Of course Tripod is attached outside. Soon i will make "Whats in my camera bag video" so stay tuned for more detail. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers.
@@SonerBaysal anyway i think using gh5, bm or something like that with "CINEMATIC RIG" si funny and gaming to filmmaker. if alone videographer using sony will be better solution. ( autofocus, profiles, videoquality) if u really DOP in big project use arri alexa mini or with team. gaffer puller etc..
I lost the will to live watching him rig up the GH5... What a waste of time. This is like buying a sports car then attaching a caravan to it... Buy a BMPCC or a box/cube camera if you want to rig it up like a maniac.

Unfortunately the metabones speed booster has that weird play to it as well
I solved that problem couple of days ago. Bought tilta adapter holder piece for 30$. Now there is 0 play. I can recommend if you own a Tilta cage.

I am using Lowepro Protactic 450AW. I love this bag. Its rugged and big enough for my needs. This rig goes to peaces fast so if i want i am able to fit more gear in it. Of course Tripod is attached outside. Soon i will make "Whats in my camera bag video" so stay tuned for more detail. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers.

I have an issue with this hdmi holder when try to connect type-c cable.
Follow focus motor need to be used with PL but not with any consumer mount .. or use metabones adapter with mount to rig

@@SonerBaysal anyway i think using gh5, bm or something like that with "CINEMATIC RIG" si funny and gaming to filmmaker. if alone videographer using sony will be better solution. ( autofocus, profiles, videoquality) if u really DOP in big project use arri alexa mini or with team. gaffer puller etc..

just try any of the latest sony cam. fx3 a7c, a7m4, a7s3. a6600/6400 try autofocus and u willl never want to. back anything else...

I lost the will to live watching him rig up the GH5... What a waste of time. This is like buying a sports car then attaching a caravan to it... Buy a BMPCC or a box/cube camera if you want to rig it up like a maniac.
