This is the best tutorial for hand hops. This guy does em right. Most of the other tutorials show how to do them by only kicking your legs, but this one teaches you how to pulse your hips, which is the really important thing. When you learn it this way, you can easily branch out and learn any hand hop variant, whereas those other guys can't.
Hi ! I'm a Bboy and Breaking Teacher from Argentina. I've studied many dances and gymnastics besides Break and my way of teaching is somewhat related to yours. I've seen your others tutorials but this one seems like the most effective to me and I'll try it since I don't do Handhops yet. It looks really nice, if I'm not wrong, first three steps are mostly to gain Strength and proper Form of the body, while the forth step is to start learning the hop motion while still gaining Form technique and in the fifth step you start gaining one hand Balance, now with correct Form, so on the next steps you are already able to start practicing one hand hops. Great tutorial, time seems really appropiate, tough I'm a bit concerned about that many repetitions. I'll post the results later on.
Worthless and useless "tutorial", seeing a boy hoping around and talking shit like "do it like I do". You teach the same way? Holy shit... How are you're students able to learn something??
for those who just discovered these tutorials and having trouble focusing I focus on 3 or 4 moves at a time so instead of doing 600 per day id lower it to 50 a day so 10 sets of 5 or 10x5.
Great vid, extremely helpful and thorough! I really appreciate what you guys are doing for the community. One thing I think that would be really helpful is that if for these "tricks" tutorials you could point out which muscle groups we should be focus on using for them. For example "you should be feeling sore in your lat muscle group" etc. That way we would know if we were engaging the wrong muscles by mistake. Thanks again and let me know if you have any plans to incorporate my above suggestion.
This would be a great addition. My friend actually needed to get surgery on both his shoulders because he was training the wrong muscle groups for 4 or so years. It'd be great to hear from SOLPM, the people who already have those moves, what muscles they use and feel during these exercises.
Thank you for this great feedback. The SOLPM will start to open up to these explanations of right/wrong muscles quite soon. If you have more ideas please feel free to share them. The SOLPM appreciates it.
I can already do decent sized sets of double hand hops around 60+ .will t ill take 3 n half months for e do decent amount of single hand hops..or it may ake lesser time.??
Are you super double jointed in your elbows? Or are your arms twisted around in that picture of you that you keep showing as the background when you display the instructions for each step?
Ti Rates It's been sooo long since I stopped bboying haha. But, just think about kicking with your heels. Tuck your knees into your Chest, and kick with your feet (heel) while on dorsiflexion ;)
please advice on the kicking part of the hand hops... thats the main issue... i just started practicing hand hopa n i find this the most difficult part... plz help!
The Science of Learning Power Move i am now able to hop 2 times with both hands on the floor. but i always keep going in one direction. backwards. how do i maintain position? thanku so much for replying.
+Gokul Panakkal are you kicking correctly? If you are following the method of kicking in the video (tuck knees in, push legs up), then you should not be moving backwards. I was having the same issue because I wasn't kicking correctly.
no offence to this video but if you do all that 3000 times a week it should not take you more than a few weeks to get it. I'm not an amazing break dancer but I didn't do this stuff 3000 times a week cause I have a job and stuff to do and it took me just over a month to get a decent amount.
this steps is just exercises for you learn the move, if you think you don't need, you can jump some step. you will see if need all the steps again on the left hand. good luck man!
Hey man awesome tutorial!!! Quick question, how long should the breaks be? I'm trying to do about a minute or less but every time I finish a set of 20 I have a pounding head each and want to throw up! Is this normal and just something I should deal with or am I not taking long enough breaks or what? Also I want to learn flares as well but this one also, could I learn both at the same time? Thanks bro!
omglolbacon Starting from the beginning is always better in a sense that you will develop all types of muscle memory and coordination. But, you may also consider for yourself if step 1,2 are really necessary for you.
Mac Meho Do less. Watch the video "SOLPM methodology alternative way" It shows alternatives of training for people like you who don't have much time =)
Hey I'd just like to say I've finished week 1, except with less reps. Honestly 600 per day is ridiculous. While training I'm consistently having to say "Push yourself." and "How bad do you want it". But even still 600 is a really large number, no matter how you put it. I actually spend 1-2hrs on this daily and manage to get
Dear Curisco, The SOLPM understands your point and we think that If 200 is a good number for you keep this average then. With time you can increase the amount. Just to inform, there are people who achieve this average of 600 per day though. If you think in terms of sets of 20. You will try 20 handstand in a row by holding 2 seconds or so. That means that in 1 minute you can get 20. Then + a small break of 2 minutes or you go again and 20...+ 20 this would mean that in less than 2 hours you can get 600. Maybe if you are a beginner you can start with a smaller amount anyway but 600 is totally doable by knowing how to set up your mind to achieve this. Maybe you can try to have smaller breaks or start to increase the number by 10 or 20 everyday. Think always in how to be efficient and probably 600 will not be a big issue in the future and you will have optimized your training to learn those tricks for real.
Week 2 Summary: Alright sick. Week 2 is done :) One day late though cause I breaked all day for the last 3 days and missed one day of reps. Difficulties: Bringing knees in. I've realised I lack flexibility in shoulders and so I can't bring my knees to chest as far in as bboy byeel. I'm stretching shoulders every day to gain gain flexibility. Note to people reading is that if you don't already know you need enough shoulder flexibility to have a nice vertical line for your handstand moves. If not you will skewer and use unneeded chest muscle (Still completely possible just not 'perfect' form). Notes: It's really fulfilling watching your own progress. The movements get ever so slightly easier through time and repetition. Every time I proceed to the next step it's like going up a level. Really makes the process in my mind think it's like playing a game. And breaking is the best game. The Science of Learning Power Move Question: For step 3 just to be clear every 10 reps you hold the position for 10 seconds? So in one set of 20, you would've done two reps holding for 10 seconds. One at the 10th, and the second at the 20th?
bros seriously, 600 one day? you would have to give up every other move and area you focus on just to have energy and strength available for this, this is appropriate for someone who just wants to be a handhop bboy, but otherwise this is crazy much
Yes both you and the uploader are correct unfortunately. I had to stop focusing on every other move I noticed in the free time I had I couldn't space them out and practice everything. I wasn't progressing fast enough, I only focus on hand hops now ;T
Sunjay Malhotra haha yeah man pity aite cuz that facebook page attract some insanely annoying eboys -_- yeah i have respect for this page to go into such detail but they seriously need extra info to provide because this over time could injure dudes with that repetition!
bboyfocused Yeah I left that bboy.org facebook page a while ago. And I'm probably going to use the exercises described in this tutorial and just cut down the numbers a lot.
bboyfocused but the bboy guinho train 10 hours per day. the brazillians is fucking ridiculously in his powermoves and powertricks, nobody can't do this moves on both sides like they.
This video just prove one thing, consistency is key

This video is useless crap and helps me nothing (seeing a guy hoping around and speaking "do it like I do"). Worthless.

+Austin .Bailey some times i even do 110-120 in one set!! What's wrong?? :v
Legit tutorial, gave me some exercises to help clean up my form!
Are you super double jointed in your elbows? Or are your arms twisted around in that picture of you that you keep showing as the background when you display the instructions for each step?
Can you teach me how to use my waist or hip to do handhops??
Try to kick with your heels
b boy can u explain with more detail please

please send a video here with your mistake! We can help better if we see you doing it!
hey.. ive finished nearly 2 weeks of reps.. and now im gettin a mild backpain and pain in my right shoulder.. is it anything to worry about..!!?
Gokul Panakkal Just take a break of some days. When you feel better you come back to it. Take a longer break will not affect your progress.
The Science of Learning Power Move i am now able to hop 2 times with both hands on the floor. but i always keep going in one direction. backwards. how do i maintain position? thanku so much for replying.

Chop Suey by System of a Down , but the one they used in the video is kinda remixed :D
Hello guys, if i wanna do both amrs handhops ( with right and left hand ) , should i do those steps again
?
this steps is just exercises for you learn the move, if you think you don't need, you can jump some step. you will see if need all the steps again on the left hand.
good luck man!
is it necessary to fix one arm handstand to do this trick ?
it is not necessary
Of course it is! How it should be done without able to do handstand/one arm handstand?? Its impossible.
It's not. U will be catching balance while jumping, therefore it will be even easier than a static one arm handstand
What if i can not bend my legs close to the chest?? I have but really poor flexibility. :(
Keep bending your legs as close as you can to your chest. After some 2 months it come come closer.
I was having the same issue. It's really impressive how this guy can fully knees to chest. When I try, it's very hard on my middle back muscles
Step one is hard for me would it be okay if i start useing a Wall?
Or how should i start to Help me do it better.
using a wall will help. =)
would i be able to get hand hops faster if I had the basics down already ?
+joey hawj Yes! You can surely skip some steps and go just to the relevant ones.
Thanks
I have pain on my back. do you have it also ?
Take a break and stretch more! You should avoid pain as much as you can!
i have already do 2 month and i got 5 hops almost every time, sometimes 8 or more however i got to work on the form
need to*
cara obrigado agora eu to consigindo fazer o handhop muito obrigado, your are amazing dude! !!!

Is it nesesary to master de handstand???? D:
Luis Ang31 Pedraza not exactly
Of course it is! How it should work hopping on your hands if you are not able to hold your self on your arms/hands?!?
@@蟉 😂😂😂 Hand hopping in a over-head position and not necessary to hold your self on your arms/hands? You are a funny one...
Do i need handstand for this?
Yes.
Or you will learn it pretty much along the way... Just focus on being exactly like bboy byeel
Well if you cant even get up and hold your body in a handstand forget about hopping in it.
Thank you, both of you :)
Yes sadly... because of this I can't hoping.
I'm gonna learn this
