    When I only had dye inks but wanted embossed colour, I would ink with my fast drying coloured dye ink, then restamp overtop with clear embossing ink and clear emboss. Sometimes I'd just ink from the versaclear then immediately pounce into the dye colour, stamp and emboss. Worked great!
    I am an overheater though... and hand cream victim. 😂 thanks for the tips/reminders!

    Also, if the cardstock has some sort of coating on it, not all powders will work the same. I went from a terrible image to a perfectly crispy clear one on the same piece of cardstock jut by swapping out the embossing powder to a different one.

    I've definitely under heated in my early days and got frustrated.
    What I'd like to see, Lou, is how to heat emboss with chunkier glittery embossing powders. I bought a couple and can never seem to get a decent result 😞
    It's really frustrating because they're lovely colours and the sparkle is lovely

    I do love your accent. I would only add that I would encourage everyone to use a stamp positioner tool of some sort. It can make all the difference in heat embossing. You can stamp several times in the same position and make sure you cover all the stamp area. Also, just to help with the dimpling effect we often get with heat embossing, you can place your card stock back in the positioner and do it again for better embossing image. Thanks for all your hard work teaching us. May God bless your company, too.

    I am having trouble embossing thick slick card stock. It’s the same card stock as business cards. I chose it because it’s slick but, my embossing powder did not stick. Any suggestions of what you recommend? Should I just choose something thinner?

  • @sandrabroad5448

    When I heat emboss directly onto the card base it often warps. I’ve tried weighting the finished card down overnight but after a while it returns to the warped state. I’ve tried heating both sides, making sure I haven’t overdone it and all sorts. Now I only emboss onto mats which I can glue down well. Thanks for all your helpful videos, every one of them has taught me something new or reminded me how to do something better.

    hi lou! any tips on cleaning stamps after using versamark? I usually just rinse with warm water and fairy but sometimes it's still a bit tacky, what would be the absolute no-no's for different types of materials, I'm sure staz-on stampcleaner would take it right off, but I feel it might ruin clearstamps..? I just don't want my stamps to melt! (I tried handsanitiser on a clearstamp that I can live without, and it worked great, but I don't think it's recomended. the stamp survived... so far😂😂) stamp cleaning in general feels very trial & error

    • @lorraine8037
      @lorraine8037 11 месяцев назад +4

      I have always heard to use Versamark to condition new stamps for better stamping. Hence, I just stamp off and keep it on the stamp. Never lost a stamp yet.

      I've found using a fine embossing powder works best for me for detailed stamps etc and that's all I buy now as I can use it on most projects. I also love UTEE. 🙂 I have a big tub of clear fine powder and make coloured powders from there 😊

    • @craftylea79
      @craftylea79 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@c.r.mcleod8959 Thank you so much for your tip, do you have any preference of what Fine detail embossing powder brand works best.

      @@craftylea79 I meant Super Fine embossing powder sorry. My big tub of clear super fine powder is WOW, my smaller tubs are Ranger super fine embossing powder. They've always worked well for me. The only colours I buy is Black, white, silver, gold & copper all my other colours are made with the clear powder and my Mica powders.
      I would strongly recommend you get one of the anti static embossing pouches they're a life saver and I always make sure my heat gun is nice and hot before bringing it to the paper especially if I'm working with UTEE.
      Just a tip, it can take a little bit of playing, experimenting, trail and error in the beginning so don't be hard on yourself if you don't get top results immediately, just put some time aside to practice and play with the powders and embossing different little things to get the feel of things etc.
      I also find my Stamp Press is a life saver to make sure I get good stamping results all round. 🙂🌻

    Textured paper can be ‘flattened’ by running it through a die cutting machine without a die.
