Your tips are really effective. I struggle with being happy with the front of the card and not wanting to cover part of it up with a sentiment that distracts from the overall effect or suddenly becomes the focus . As a result, I sometimes choose to put the sentiment inside the card. When I see card makers doing fabulous techniques and layering, it is always a shame to see that so much of it will get covered up. Guess everyone is different!

I thought the whole point of a greeting card was the sentiment. 😅

This was really helpful. Especially seeing the cards you improved. It’s funny, I know the basics of colour theory and the rule of thirds. Although sometimes I put a card together and love it, I equally have other time when I have several nice elements that all work together but the layout stumps me.

Thank you Lou, really interesting. I often die cut my sentiments from either the card blank colour or matt layer colour on a shape.

I’ve had difficulty die cutting words mounted on foam like your second example “thanks”. Any tips on getting clean cuts? BTW, your Textures word label designer is terrific for making custom sentiments!

I don't agree 100%. Sometimes, I like to make the image the show and let the sentiment be more "quiet". But I understand your point!❤

    • @lucyc

Agreed. I do the same ssometimes, too. I think maybe it comes down to how successful we are in having it look like we were intentional in having a more subdued sentiment or if it looks like we didn't know what we were doing. 😂 All jokes aside, if I'm being honest, there have definitely been times when I TRIED to make it look intentional, but when I looked at it later, it was a swing and a miss. Not that it ends up AWFUL, but it's disappointing when it's not as good as you hoped. But...there's always the next one!!! 😊

I like something with a nice picture that looks pretty on my shelf with a smaller sentiment. Also I like sentiments related to the event. Not " Hey" Having said that I'm an oldie so probably out of date. 😊
