Thank you SO much! Completely gave up in frustration yesterday and decided to give the internet a shot today. There just HAD to be a better way. Thanks for sharing!
I tried this, didn't really work. Seemed to half go in then the floss would snap after 5/10 minutes of trying. I found it much easier to do this. 1) Grab a bamboo/wooden kebab skewer (the disposable ones you buy, looks like a long cocktail stick) 2) Cut the sharp bit off the front. You can rub it down to make it less sharp after cutting. 3_ stick it in the gromit (put some washing up liquid on it to lube) and push it through. dont worry if the stick breaks just keep push or grab another. Took about 30 sceonds compaired to the 15 minutes with the floss, but hey try both and see what works best for you.
Totally forgot about this technique and video after watching it 5 months ago. Struggled once again through this process and in the back of my mind I was thinking..."there just must be an easier way" LOL
on the first check valve it worked bam first try but then the second one I couldn't get so I turned on this video and played the catchy music and bam I got it
I loved the "Yatzee!" comment. I just ruined one of these trying to push it through with a small punch and then googled up the winderosa tool, but this idea looks great and I'm going to give it a try while waiting for the tool and the new check valves I ordered off ebay. (what a rip-off those stupid little grommets and check valves are).
Seems like a lot of trouble for nothing. They make a tool for that. I pushed mine in at the bottom with a small screw driver. A small ball nose Allen wrench would work. Just put a little on it or grease.
Brilliant. Like putting in a window. Thanks! Saved me some frustration
Old but gold
