This is awesome, great step by step video. Super idea to explain to someone else how to get it done and record it. Maybe a good idea to get yourself an affiliate link from somewhere and then add all of the tools you are using to the description. That mirror with the lights, the magnet thing you used in one of the last videos. I'll be looking for those, you could have earned a commission, and made my search easier!

I just picked up two 1995 seadoo gtx 657s today. Both wont start. Replaced fuel and plugs. One will start and then cut out. Oil on the plugs. The other one wont start. Ordered carb kit. Great vid this will be very helpful. Hopefully that solves the issue
@@timothyette8125 I’ve found the most common thing with these is needing fuel system refresh. If you ever get one with the old grey fuel lines replace everything.

@@sagedownes784 I’ve got an Autozone near me. I just grab one of the AGM batteries. Measure size of battery tray and pay attention to which side the +/- cables are on.
Hey Josh, nice job! On the pop off pressure could you just bend the arms instead of cutting the springs?
Tim I have seen guys bend the arms some but you only have so much space in there. Not sure why I went this way straight away…..but I did 😂 I stayed close to the top end of the range, that way if the clipped side of spring collapses a little I should still be in spec range…..I hope. 😎👍

My son wants a jet ski. So I’m trying find one that needs to be fixed. We’ll see how bad he really wants one. If he wants to fix it then he can ride it.

So the one carb looks to get a gasket at the fuel pump but the other does not. Is that correct?
Only one carb has "fuel pump". The pulse line coming from the motor runs it.
Is that what you mean?
Should have had them kids remove/install the carbs too. small hands would make quick work of it vs adult hands in there, lol. thanks for the vid bud!

Also how did you prime the oil lines on the first start ?
I never undid the oil lines. They all still had oil. I used a brake bleed pump to prime the fuel lines.

I’m curious why the hose that comes from your jet pump to the inlet on the motor is missing.
There is a hose coming from Jet pump to the motor inlet. Then you also have connection valve for hose to flush motor.
@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching my 97 has a hose from the pump to the inlet side of the head and the other one is where it exits.
@@Mudslinger2011 is you flush port in the back by the jet?
@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching no it’s on the hose on the outlet side. All the videos I’ve watched that’s how it works. The pump pushes water into the motor, it circulates and exits out the side with the arrow facing out.there’s an arrow on the head where the hose that pumps water in and an arrow where it exits after it goes through the motor.

Search for “Oetiker Clamp Tool”& should help you find what you need. I bought mine as a kit that came with assorted clamps (make sure hose clamps are stainless steel) then you should be good to go.

8:54 way to much gap between lever arm and needle spring.

You skipped over the most important part… which hoses connect to the correct ports…

@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching I do, I’ve been stumped on the routing off the fuel and oil hoses. I rebuilt the carburetors and reinstalled them, but I can’t figure out which hoses go where. I’ve looked all over the internet for a diagram. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!

There you should be able to download load the service manual for your ski, which will have a good fuel system diagram which should help you. If that doesn’t work email me through my website.

Those Wera screwdrivers are nice and like you pointed out rated for electrical work. They have laser etched tips too for added grip. Love em.
@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching Nice lol I've been following your videos and I'm a big fan ! Currently I'm in the process of rebuilding a 1996 787cc Rotax from top to bottom ! It's getting pricey fast lol I also own a 1994 seadoo Gts with a 587 Rotax that's been bullet proof since we bought it 15 years ago. Just basic maintenance with these old seadoos and they last forever !

@@Nine_Finger_Wrenching Just sent my crankshaft to be rebuilt by a wsm shop. All the bearings are toast and the crank seals leaked as well. I'm seriously glad I disassembled the bottom end because it was in really bad shape. While the engine is out I degreesed the bilge and started working on detailing and reviving some of the old sun faded plastics. Im hopeful my 1996 Challenger will be done before summer hits !
