Hi folks! I really hope that you will enjoy this restoration video! I had a lot of good time working on it! Thank you for your support!! Cheers! Johnny
Nicely restored, interesting simple machine! As for the cans not fitting issue, you have a lathe, so it should be easy to make a sized template for the cans you have, with matching internal threads. This machine looks like one could replace the plate to match the cans, hence why it can be removed by unscrewing it.
That's why it's only a dream for me. Pity these companies don't give their products to the likes of us who do not have a channel to advertise our skills.@@eizabethroberts3991
Excellent work, Rusty; fascinating to watch too, and that laser thingy is amazing, and pretty and sparkly. I'm so sorry that the cans didn't work with the machine, that's gotta hurt some, but you can take pride in the restoration of the machine in any event, and you should. Very well done!
Thank you so much. I tried my best for now with the test (I spent 4h trying different cans), but the standards from today's tin cans are different from what was back when this machine was used. I'm happy that I could rescue it! It can serve as a decorative piece till I find the perfect can 🙂

You did a good job overall, but one thing I'd take issue with, is when you are turning on the lathe, the cutting tool seemed higher than the tailstock centre. Turned out great, well done.
I wasn't expecting those parts to be a can sealer. Great projects turned out excellent. Well done. Be interesting to see if you master getting it to function.
Hi buddy. Thanks for the video. But while testing, you ' ve made two mistakes. First, the can itself should be filled with something and the second one is that you are to use other kind of cans ( glass) and cover for such cans.
Thank you for the tips. I had never used such a device before, and I couldn't find information anywhere about how it should be correctly used. I will try again tomorrow. Once again, thanks!

I would try putting your tool lower when turning on the lathe, it looks like it's super high and rubbing more than cutting. Should help a lot with forming a chip and cutting material. A truck I use to find center height is cut the face of the stock when it's chucked up close to the chuck, starting below center and working my way up until there is no "nub" left when I face the part.
Thank you for your tips. Unfortunately, I can't lower it more than that. It is a small lathe machine, and I bought it to learn the basics; I should probably step up and buy a bigger one. Cheers!

It is faster, environmental friendly and you can clean very large parts. Big minus - it is 1 million times more expensive than a compressor and a blasting cabinet.
Hello from France the person who did this welding worked like a pig. Maybe with full cans the tests would have been conclusive, if you don't want to put foodstuffs inside try with sand
A Sandblaster uses abrasive media (sand, walnuts, glass beds etc.) that is blown by high-pressure air while a laser hits a beam of the particles on different surfaces and makes them lose the bond. The laser is much more eco-friendly and faster (can clean difficult spots) and doesn't damage the surface if well adjusted, while Sandblaster cleans quite the same or even better sometimes, but it is messy and dangerous for health and very slow. As well, you can't clean big-size items. Sandblaster is a cheap way of cleaning rust/paint, while laser isn't-pretty expensive and has high electricity consumption.
It was welded well, so it was unnecessary to do it again. Just ugly, but well done. Cast iron welding doesn't look great anyway for anybody. It is the most difficult metal to weld.
The rust isn't dangerous for the skin, but other substances that I'm using, yes. The cold bluing especially. I'm using them as well for aesthetic purpose, because I'm a hard working person and my hands aren't looking so great always.

6:34 а вот кольцо совершенно напрасно повредили. Можно было замочить, в растворе, который сжирает ржавчину, выбить штифт и спокойно снять.
That will take a lot of hours and could be a fail. Making a new one was way much faster.
Caramba, tudo isso pra abrir uma lata, fora que tem, que prender a lata na base, e ter uma chave pra apertar rsrs
