Dropping the safe and simple numbering convention is a really strange move to me. This just makes it more confusing to know which is the newer model.

Reliable LDAC, finally got a Nothing earbud. Got the (a)... It is not as good as the sound quality of HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 or HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 (avoid 2, it has bad mics) (to give you context, I think the base quality of Sony WF-1000XM5 is misguided audio engineering). The Nothing (a) is more comfortable than the freebuds or any competitor and very very good for the price (and the base quality is very good, I cannot say the same thing for most earbuds that charge more)... Also glad to support a decent company. Also AMAZING and direct review. will SUB for sure... BTW, if comfort is your issue, make sure you get the HUAWEI FreeClip (sound quality is not amazing, but omg you don't even realize they are on you).

I've had my eyes on the Huawei lineup for a while. One of my Android Authority colleagues loves them for the sound quality. Maybe I'll get to try one soon.

Sound quality is great. But aside from the freeclip, their flagship freebuds pro are for sure too heavy. If you are not a sound quality snub, I would overall recommend nothing (a) since the sound quality is like 80% there and they are so much more comfortable.

Well, bought them anyway, even though the upgrade wasn't much. I'm a sucker for yellow. And something I have noticed in the world of earbuds, there aren't very many yellow earbuds. I've done searches just looking for yellow earbuds. I'm tired of pink and white and black. And also, the yellow pair has an hour more battery life on it than the other, which is big for me. However, I think the black pair is very grown up looking. Kind of elegant. So....I may break down and get that pair if they should ever go on sale. Very nice review. I'm impressed. I started buying earbuds thinking I'd like to review them as well. There aren't many females doing so. But I think I'm too shy. But I'm not the only person though impressed with your review. I’ve had such a difficult time finding earbuds that are comfortable AND have all the bells and whistles. I was a die hard Surface Earbuds fan for their comfort, but with no upgrade on the horizon, their age is showing and it’s time to find something new. I’ve tried the latest AirPods Pro, AirPods, Sony with the hole thingy, Fancy Sony ones, Galaxy Buds, the Samsung jelly bean-looking ones, etc. All of them left my ear irritated and raw after wearing, or they wouldn’t stay in my ears.
I heard about these on a blog that recommended them for their microphone, which is super important because I will use these primarily for remote work that requires hours of zoom calls a day.. But I was having trouble finding in-depth reviews of the product that got down to the brass tacks.
So many video reviews bury the meat of the message in long videos that are mostly opinion with little support, or are little more than reading the product description on Amazon. Despite the number of earbuds, I’ve tried myself, I would not consider myself someone who knows audio devices well, so I need someone who DOES have that expertise to explain it in layman‘s terms.
This video is far and away the best review of any earbud I’ve seen. I love how it gets straight to the substance and every reason that you recommend the earbuds is explained and compared to other devices in a way that is easy to understand. Unlike most reviews that leave me feeling no better prepared to make a purchase than I did at the start, this one absolutely helped me feel very confident in my decision to purchase the earbuds. The little soundbites from the microphone where the perfect length and were exactly what I wanted to hear to make my decision. Half the videos I found didn’t even have that much.
I haven’t received mine yet, so who knows if I’ll agree with the reviewer but nonetheless, I appreciate the format of this video and the information provided within it. Thank You for making a really great review video that was genuinely helpful.

They're very, very similar, but I would say the Ear 2 are still a better value than the Ear (a) for now (wireless charging, they're getting the new custom equalizer), unless you care about LDAC support, in which case the Ear A are better.

Thank you for the video it was very helpful, i have a question. i own a Samsung galaxy s24. and i own the ear(2) black edition. Should i disable LHDC. to gain the extra battery life? as this feature only works for phones that support it. which (phone 1, 2 and 2a) does.
but am not sure if my samsung galaxy s24. supports it. am i just wasting battery by having it enabled?
    can you maybe check it

    • @RitaElKhoury-AA
      @RitaElKhoury-AA Месяц назад +2

I would disable it. The Galaxy S24 doesn't support LHDC (you can go in Developer Options > Bluetooth audio codec and see that the ones it handles are SBC, AAC, aptX audio, LDAC, and SSC). I'm not sure if you lose battery life if the setting is enabled on the buds but they're not actively transmitting over LHDC, but why risk it? Just keep it off.

I loved Nothing until I got the Earfun Air Pro 3's! Wow, what a difference at $55 on sale.
Earfun connects fast to my Samsung S24 Ultra & other devices & you don't need ANC because they are so loud & comfortable.
60% volume on the Earfun's are like 85% to the Nothing's.
Plus all the HD, HiFi, Qualcomm APTx, Codec & the 9+ hours of listening time.
Nothing falls short on those topics but most importantly,
I've had 2 pairs of the Nothing's where the stems come apart here in Hot SE Texas & it's almost impossible to glue the stems back together.
These should be $65 to $70 buds, imo. Great info 🤟

The problem here is that Nothing's "premium" buds are actually budget buds in price. It's not the naming convention that confusing - its the fact that their 'best' buds are by definition and price, budget friendly already. By making a very slightly lower price buds in the 2a, it confuses consumers about the value prop. They have done something quite similar with their phones recently as well where it seems like the Phone 2a is better than the 2, when in fact it isn't - its this type of mixed messages that wont bode well for the brand; and lets not even go into "CMF By Nothing"!

  • @JK-dv3qe

  • @ceesparxxx

Have you not seen how bad inflation has gotten and how much more difficult it is to even get by much less buy things you want?!? Tbh, I'm extremely jealous of people who can buy what they want. It must be nice to be so privileged to be able to get stuff you "want" when a lot of us can barely even afford the stuff we actually "need."
