i remember finding your channel a few years back for software engineering advice. And as black computer science student, i can genuinely say you've helped me a lot. As one of my favorite black creators on RUclips, I just want to say I appreciate you using your platform to voice your support for our community, the black community!
@@JessieJ93 Dude, of course not. It's just nice for a black person to see another black person being able to be talk on a platform. They never said Jarvis was worse ot better because of his race like jesus. Black people face a lot of racism and it's nice to see some of them not afraid to just casually talk on the internet and teach people since that's not very common tbh. I don't have many black teachers at all and it's nice to see some.
@@JessieJ93 it says a lot that you got upset when a black man was complimented as a creator. "whY doES rAcE maTTeR!?" It doesn't. So many comments talking about him being black, and the only one where you say this is when he's complimented as a black creator. Stay pressed and stay away.

Good for you for speaking the fuck out about police brutality. As a white woman who grew up in the 90’s in a mostly white state (Maine) we were all told “RACISM IS A THING OF THE PAST! Let’s stop learning after we teach you about Selma!” It is a bullshit line that I am ashamed to admit that into my 20’s I still sort of believed. I have been followed in a store maybe twice. I can’t imagine just that every time I go out, let alone being terrified of dying at the hands of a police force that is supposed to protect us all, not just white people. Fuck racism. EDIT: Also, may I add, I cannot believe that it’s been 9 months since George Floyd’s murder.
When I found Jarvis' channel on my homepage I was confused but instantly was so happy seeing how he plays a role in being funny and "dumb" but also keeps focus on current events. it's great to see you take charge in not a super aggressive way.
He was one of the few RUclipsrs who are Black that I followed. Now that list of Black people I subbed to and like watching grew quite large, and Jarvis's name is still proudly standing on that list. :)
"If hearing Black Lives Matter bruises your ego, then I encourage you to learn more about why people are saying that" WELL PUT. This is a sentiment that needs to be said way more. Jarvis is trying his best indeed.
@@Ade-ing I will say, I am sorry for your father abusing you. Myself, I am more center right, but not fully conservative. I will say, BLM has not donated a single penny to the black community. And not many people of the black community are speaking out about this. The ones that are, are being called racists (with pin their own black race) and traitors. And yes there is police brutality, but it is toward all races. There are black cops that kill black people as well. There is a lot of black on black crime. There are black cops that kill white people. Police brutality in other countries is much more harsh than in the Canada and USA. Example, Belarus back in 2020 shown real police brutality. And it was because the citizens of Belarus protested the government. Another example, in Russia, the people who are protesting war, are being beaten, shamed, and arrested right in the spot by police. There is no racism in police force. It is only police killing people for safety or accidentally. (Also, George Floyd died by a drug overdose, he yelled “I can’t breathe” when he was only in the police car, before the policeman put his leg on his chest, yes chest not neck)
Same. We are numb and dissociated by seeing our people die by the hands of police and the systemic racism/discrimination in this country. And, that is depressing. Too depressing.
I think this is so sad I'm a huge supporter of the black lives matter movement and hearing peoples stories of how racism has effected their lives is so disheartening I could never understand how some people hate people or are biased against people just for what they look like it's crazy to me
Honestly, that devastated me... and I can't imagine anyone being mean to Jarvis because he's such an amazing ray of sunshine and skin tone shouldn't make a single lick of difference in that. It crushed me.
My favorite thing about Jarvis's videos is how inconsistent he is with censoring his swears He'll censor like 4 random swears in the video and leave the rest of them in, it's great
Jarvis has no scandals, speaks out about racism, acknowledges his own privilege, supports the lgbtq+ community, doesn't bully people online. He's gotta be the zodiac killer in his free time or something, he's too unproblematic
Bruhh, after seeing him mumble and wheeze his way through those tik toks, I am 105% convinced that Papa John likes to Papa xanax or two, or seven. Dudes high off his ass on something.
The "I'm black by the way" fucking killed me. In all seriousness I'm glad to hear you talk about the problems you have experienced, for those who haven't seen it first hand it's hard to contextualise how widespread the problem is without people speaking out. Admittedly I am white but the homophobia I have experienced has really helped me to be more understanding when it comes to systematic oppression. It's not the same by any means but it's lead my down a path to help others when they need it and to educate myself on other forms of oppression.
Same! I am pretty privileged overall, but when I came out as gay, and then had to fear (regardless of how often it happened) discrimination and hate because of that, it made me realize how Im privileged in other areas and really helped me understand
As a white man I was Followed in a store by this person that was obviously a Secret shopper and I felt hurt and I don’t know if is happens everyone else but it makes you feel like you’re not human my theory is that because I live in the inner city and I was in a hoodie
im proud of you for being brave enough to finally come out as black. we will all still love and support you no matter what Power Ranger you choose to be
uuhhhh, you acting like black is a sexuality. also, how could you not tell he was black? either way, doesn’t change anything, because no matter what he is, he’s Jarvis, and Jarvis is great.
i really appreciate the interjections. trying to remain 'apolitical' is incredibly damaging to the marginalized people in your audience. it was really interesting listening to your experience with racism, i feel like sometimes people are too afraid to speak out, which, honestly, also says lots about racism in america. i also never thought id find out i was 40 papa johns pizza boxes tall but thats okay
Kyle Forrest, I think if creators make completely apolitical content, especially right now, it gives racist people a safe place on the internet they don’t deserve.
@police-and-military-are-welfare-whores you sound upset. But on a serious note, the marginalized should feel comfortable to speak about their experiences right now
no offense for this: While courtship displays take place in flight, eagles DO NOT mate in the air. Rather, copulation occurs on a branch or in the nest with the male mounting the female. During copulation, the cloaca of the male and female touch and sperm is transferred from the male to the female in what is known as the cloacal kiss he took that from lore about dragons. i recognized it right away because i was OBSESSED with dragons. Eagles dont do that,,,, so i mean.... hes just wrong about a lot of things aint he?
thank you for this information, for i always heard that eagles mate in the air an thought it was badass. still badass that they seemingly fall while courting though, it could even be that they're just fighting an it would still be badass.

I really appreciate how he he said don’t worry about me because he recognizes the privilege he had but doesn’t under play his experience with racism. It’s important to know your experiences are valid even though there are people in worse situations.
Unless you're white, no really. A vast amount of people feel its totally ok and justified to treat "white" people like shit just for being white. It shouldn't be ok in any context, but for some reason its always overlooked. "Fuck whitey" eh?
@@DarkOmicron I agree I’m black and I think all of this reverse racism quote on quote. Is racism and it’s horrible when people believe just because you are a white male you are privileged it’s racism and just unfair. We should not be judging people by their race, gender, sexual orientation, we are all humans and should treat ourselves like that. Which is why I don’t like movements like BLM which is supposed to be about equal rights for black people but then oppress one whole group of people and actually pushes what they are against.
@@cressmoon340 It's not that white people automatically live a, "privileged," life. It's that white people don't have to live with the burden of institutionalized racism, while black people do. That means that white people have access to things that black people don't have. No one is saying that your life is perfect if you are white, and that you don't suffer, they are just pointing out the inequalities that exist in our country. . To me, the really fucked up thing is that these privileges are actually basic human rights. Trusting the police to keep you safe shouldn't be a privilege. Having access to good education shouldn't be a privilege. Trusting medical professionals to give you adequate care shouldn't be a privilege. I actually wish we didn't even call them privileges in the first place, because it implies that they are extra and unnecessary, when they are actually basic human rights. It's just appalling that the bare minimum has instead become a privilege Anyways, I hope this comment helped explain why BLM isn't divisive or negative towards white people.
@@cressmoon340 but it IS true that if you are white specifically a cis white hetero male that you have it better than most... Men are already seen as the “best” and with the racism of the past AND now being white is a blessing. It is not racism. It is recognising the privilege that they have. Take my grandpas. One of them was white and the other was black. Both from Jamaica. Both grew up in same community. Both had the same accent. But when my black grandpa came to the us to visit us people looked at him weird and we’re talking about how weird his accent was... then when my WHITE grandpa came to visit us as well he was treated as “cool” for knowing patwa. Does that not show bias? I think it does. And my grandpa (white) was born and raised in Jamaica and would arguably have a thicker accent so much so that I had to translate for him sometimes. And you’re really trying to appeal to the white man with that one... did they pick you yet?
As a black audience member (and someone who knew you were a brother from the beginning), thank you so much for using your platform to help bring light to our community's issues! I think that the people of color who are incredibly racist/sexist/homophobic comes from a place of self hatred engraved into them by society that they were never guided with how to handle it. whether it's black people being incredibly racist against white people or other black people, I believe it comes from a place of a lot of hurt and anger that they don't know how to deal with. and it's not cute.
I am a white man. A few years ago, I was dating a black girl and we went to a store together. I personally knew the plain clothes asset protection people, and I pointed out to her that they were following us. I have never been followed in a store on my own. And again, I knew them. I interacted with them. We used to work together when I was a vendor in the store. She got upset when I told her that we were being followed and I didn't understand why. That was one of the biggest examples of privilege that I ever experienced.
@@omi6687 most people know that , it doesn't really help much. Sometimes it might hurt. I've felt like i'm a wortheless beings that doesn't deserve anything multiple times in my life and people tleling me i am so lucky for being white hasn't helped me much with that . Yes white people are privileged to an extent . There are some things that won't happen to a white guy for no reason . I mean the subject is complex , there are other factors that ad on to this . Depending on how you look or where you live or how you talk you might either be considered privileged or quite the opposite . Sadly being black is seen as a negative and that is truly sad . Depending on where you live being white is seen as a negative as well . Often minorities are treated poorly , minorities do include some white people. Here the idea that white people are lucky and black people aren't starts to crumble ,because while being black does make things ususally worse , life and the way you are treated differs from location to location . There are mutliple cultures and multiple countries and their behaviour towards you differs . Honestly everyone can be attacked and treated as inferior , we have seen black people be racist towards white people in the past . I agree ,living in america as a white man you are privileged, but that again differs, white minorities have been opressed and insulted for centuries . I just don't think saying being white makes you lucky applies to everything everywhere, and it's pointless . saying that i should know i have it better then most people makes it seem like my problems are not as important since i apparently don't have any problems. people are complex. I've seen people ( mostly white old men ) beings stopped in the streets and harrased for going out with their grandchildren because in the eyes of the culture i am in old people are pedophiles . Double standards and problems exists on both sides , sadly one is currently treated millions of times worse in america right now , and that's the take away, not that white people are universally lucky

Thank you for using your platform to speak out, Jarvis. As a young woman in a same-sex relationship, I have dealt with a decent amount of flack from society as a whole, but have never had to see people like me beaten and abused by police the way black people still do today. Had I been born just a handful of decades ago, that would not have been the case. I am lucky to have been born AFTER our right to exist without the threat of police brutality was fought for and mostly won. And I owe that privilege in large part to the brave people who participated in the riots at Stonewall. Riots that formed a movement that was spearheaded primarily by trans women of color. Riots that we celebrate globally every year with a Pride parade. Our own history of oppression and systemic violence is inextricably linked with the BLM movement and if we can't come together and stand with the protesters in solidarity at this moment, then we have no right to participate in Pride.
DID SHE STUTTER??? NO. on a serious note, i feel you. i’m a bisexual woman and i’m not currently in a relationship at all, but i have been in relationships with both men and women. i have dealt with erasure of my sexuality, being told that if i date a girl i’m gay or if i date a guy i’m straight. being told to pick a side, pick a sexuality, etc. none of this erasure or denial of who i am as a person, however, has led to brutality towards me in any form. i am SO privileged to be able to say openly that i am a bisexual woman, and all of it is owed to those who protested, rioted, and fought for our rights at stonewall. if we don’t recognize our history, our reason for pride, and in turn stand up and fight for our black brothers and sisters as they are oppressed, beaten, and killed just as we were at one point in time, we are part of the problem. keep fighting, it’s the only way we can make a change. ♥️
How was justice delayed? All officers involved were fired (which is a prelude to prosecution for cops and happens when policy/procedure is violated) the day after it happened and the main officer was arrested 2 days after the incident? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_George_Floyd www.cbsnews.com/news/derek-chauvin-arrested-george-floyd-death-third-degree-murder-manslaughter/
Michael after two weeks? That seems pretty delayed to me, the justice system usually gets a warrant for an arrest after three days so for it to take two weeks seems very delayed jackass
Michael no he wasn’t, he was placed in custody but he was released from custody after barely an hour of being there, he was actually only arrested and charged about a week ago, when George Floyd died three weeks ago, so do the math and you’ll see that it took two weeks for him to be charged and arrested also it took two weeks for the other officers to be charged and arrested, the cops are the ones tear gassing peaceful protesters and killing pregnant women and veterans at peaceful protests

Alright, that eagle clock is extremely cool, but the way he talks about it shows that he clearly sees himself as a man of elite culture, and it also seems like he thinks it isn't tacky. He talks like a super villain explaining the lair decor to the protagonist's party in the first act.
He isn't even right about "the way eagles mate." He's just making it all up. I'm a zoologist, I've seen eagles mating, and listening to Papa John's rant about them was exhausting.

Papa John is one of those people who insists that they aren’t racist, then immediately shouts racial slurs at some random black person for bumping into them.
I don’t mean to say this In a negative light towards your comment but I think the term people of color shouldn’t be used often as it’s so similar to saying colored people and I think that black is better because it’s just a color just like white
I don't think I've ever mentioned this in my comments, and while you can guess from my name not many do lol. But I'm native, Oglala Lakhota specifically, and I'm a huge fan. Hey Jarvis, I know this is unrelated to the video and I'm sure this will get buried in other comments, but I just wanna let you know how much I appreciate your interjection at the beginning. As a white person, especially in a small, mostly-white town, I'm very privileged to be isolated from racial prejudice and violence (though even in my suburb, we've had our fair share of racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, and white nationalism recently). The way I was raised wrongfully imbued in me the notion that equality had really been achieved. With conservative parents, I hung off of every dubious, and at some-times down-right racist comment they said to me. Time and time again I believed them when they told me it was the fault of people like Trayvon Martin for not being more careful; it's a lot more obvious to me now that they meant it was his fault for being black. Right now it is so important for absolutely everyone, *especially* non-black people raised much like I was, in privileged areas remote from the plague of both racist people and the racist system (though, honestly, it's impossible to really be remote from it at all. Racism is so immensely pervasive in this world, particularly America) to wake up, listen, and uplift the voices of black people like yourself. The amount of times people of colour (and most certainly black people) have been subjugated and silenced is embarrassing. We like to think of America as the "Land of the Free" when the reality is so much to the contrary. Thank you for your comment at the beginning. Your sentiments have been said a thousand times, by many black folks, and they've been ignored equally as many times. It is so important that it continues to be said how much Black Lives Matter. Even on videos like this one where it seems so unrelated; as you said, it ties together. Racism needs to be stomped out completely before we can ever even think that something has nothing to do with race. You're an absolute king, Jarvis. ✊🏿
I totally agree, but I'd like to point out just one thing. You don't have to agree with me, but you technically can't be racist against a white person. No, I'm not saying you can't make an offensive joke against them, as you very much can, but the definition of racism is basically systemic prejudice. As black people have had systemic prejudice such as police brutality and slavery, but white people have not had to deal with it. So while people may have been rude to you based on your race, it technically isn't racism. I am in no way trying to be rude, I'm just trying to help clear things up, as some people might get offended (unrightfully so), and I wouldn't want you to get yelled at by racist white people for a simple misunderstanding.
@@RatchelRach I don't agree with that definition of racism. I think it makes people less accountable for their actions. I can't wait until the definition changes again because I don't think it's doing us any favors to teach people it's not possible for them to be racist, depending on their own race, and to whom it's targeted. That's a nope from me.
@@veghead05 I see your point, I just think its dumb when white people are so offended by the smallest things. That makes sense though, thank you for sharing your opinion without getting offended
@@RatchelRach yeah white people dont get murdered by police, although i live in new zealand and yes it's still very bad because people think all Maori with tattoos are criminals or part of a gang or something which is really bad but im half maori half pakeha and i have been a target for people saying i'm a pakeha and should die because my ancestors stole their land, i'm not pale but im not that dark so i get more of the pakeha side of the racism because nobody assumes i'm half maori they just think im white. like i feel like there is a difference between racism towards white and poc. like black people get attacked on the street and called horrible things while white people just get called names and vocal threats not physical threats which is why i have mixed feelings because i believe racism can be "reversed" although its worse for poc if that makes sense - sorry for the rant lol edit: i didnt mention the racism towards asian culture aswell. especially "chinese" in new zealand which is quite bad aswell but its not physical its just people shit talking them and yelling things at them on the street but i dont see much physical violence for them but that just might be because the news doesnt cover it.

It's just appalling that the bare minimum has instead become a privilege
Anyways, I hope this comment helped explain why BLM isn't divisive or negative towards white people.

But it’s still good that you understand the term privilege and how lucky you are to have them.
@@omi6687 but knowing we are " lucky " or privileged isn't gonna help anyone
Dragon Bullets No it’s the fact that you understand your privileges and realize how lucky you are.

Our own history of oppression and systemic violence is inextricably linked with the BLM movement and if we can't come together and stand with the protesters in solidarity at this moment, then we have no right to participate in Pride.
hell yeah up top
PERIOD. Black lives matter and it is OUR responsibility to protect them or we don’t deserve the rights they earned for us.
As a black lesbian woman it makes me very happy to see people supporting both causes, from both causes
"Justice delayed is justice denied" -Martin Luther King Jr
How was justice delayed? All officers involved were fired (which is a prelude to prosecution for cops and happens when policy/procedure is violated) the day after it happened and the main officer was arrested 2 days after the incident?

www.cbsnews.com/news/derek-chauvin-arrested-george-floyd-death-third-degree-murder-manslaughter/

@@RatchelRach same. I like to compare ideas when people can be mature about it. These are very weird times tho. Sigh
@@RatchelRach yeah white people dont get murdered by police, although i live in new zealand and yes it's still very bad because people think all Maori with tattoos are criminals or part of a gang or something which is really bad but im half maori half pakeha and i have been a target for people saying i'm a pakeha and should die because my ancestors stole their land, i'm not pale but im not that dark so i get more of the pakeha side of the racism because nobody assumes i'm half maori they just think im white. like i feel like there is a difference between racism towards white and poc. like black people get attacked on the street and called horrible things while white people just get called names and vocal threats not physical threats which is why i have mixed feelings because i believe racism can be "reversed" although its worse for poc if that makes sense - sorry for the rant lol
edit: i didnt mention the racism towards asian culture aswell. especially "chinese" in new zealand which is quite bad aswell but its not physical its just people shit talking them and yelling things at them on the street but i dont see much physical violence for them but that just might be because the news doesnt cover it.
