They closed the papa John's by my house to build a housing development. It was run by a married couple for 20 plus years. They took pride and made the best pizza around. After they were closed I ordered from a neighboring papas, and it was shit. Good pizza is about people who know what they're doing just as much as ingredients.

I miss being close to a Papa Johns. I used to live 20 minutes from one, now the closest one is 50 minutes away. Papa Johns will always be my favorite pizza place. Great choices, great quality, greatness all around.
I love Domino's more than Papa's, but when we were in Hawaii.....Papa John's was soooooo good. I've had a hard time enjoying it here back in the mainland duty stations when it just tastes like sugar candy sauce. It messes my stomach up and I get the Papa poops from it if I don't do easy on the sauce. Growing up in the late 90s early 00s, it was so freaking good. i had the privilege of meeting Papa John himself at a store on campus at Purdue University back in '99. Real nice guy. He bought everyone's pie that came into the store for carry out for about an hour before he left. I was there with a few aerospace engineering students shootin the shit with him while he was waiting for some work being done on his private jet. He's a big Jet Head and a smart fucking cookie as this video illustrates even if he's just talking about pizza. Knew a surprising amount of deep engineering lore.

They closed the papa John's by my house to build a housing development. It was run by a married couple for 20 plus years. They took pride and made the best pizza around. After they were closed I ordered from a neighboring papas, and it was shit. Good pizza is about people who know what they're doing just as much as ingredients.
