I truly appreciate everything you’re doing for the blues music community. Much love to you brother!
Thanks brother!
3 COOL Lessons, Loved Playing Them All, Thank You Delta Lou. Fantastic.
glad it's useful to you! My pleasure!
Hi, great video! What finger pick models you use?
Hey man, thank you so much for these wonderful lessons! I am only 19 years old, but John Lee Hooker is one of favoriete artists of all time. I recently bought a Gretsch honey dipper resonator guitar. John Lee’s tunes fit perfectly with my new guitar. I think delta blues is still the base for a lot of newer music. Awesome to be able to play the tunes I love so much. Thank you!

\╭☞ \╭☞ keep the blues alive man!
Awesome
3:35 he starts teaching (YW)
hey Delta Lou! what song should I learn if I'm just starting blues?
For total beginners, I highly recommend studying my Mississippi Fred McDowell stuff and Son House stuff. Those two are easy enough to build from there.
is that the little martin lxm you are playing?
yep! hahah. it is! good catch
Okay, I'm just going to throw this out there...I know open tunings are "not" standard tuning. But, why in the hell does every video related to open tunings begin with 4 minutes of tuning the guitar? Post a video of that and refer to it. Get to the tutorial at hand.
I understand. The issue is that the artists sometimes tune their guitars at different pitches once tuned to open tuning. I am teaching the material as it is heard on the original recording. My lessons are geared towards beginners, and I know that some people get annoyed at the slowed down pace. I recommend just going straight to the tab download if you are losing patience with the vids. Thanks for tuning in!
totally disagree with Jeff, I NEED that tuning. I can't be bothered to look it up online separately. An optional timestamp for tutorial beginning is better where the tutorial starts.
I appreciate you making this tutorial, But the first seven minutes of the video was self advertising and a bit of tuning. This video could have been much shorter and to the point.
fair enough. I'll keep the intro short next time as far as tunings go I will always take my time, as I want to the learner to play it just like the original. Sometimes it needs to be explained in the open tunings. Cheers
Damn I haven’t been to this page in a while.... keep it up!
Play the song first
Thanks men...amazing job!
I really like your playing
great, this is what I was looking for. Could you demonstrate the melody of: " In the evening when the sun goes down" . In which tuning does he play that track on 1949 recordings.
Used he a capo?
Thanks for the help with the Ebook.
I actually have never heard that song before. At this time, I am not working on JLH material apart from what I released. Thanks for tuning in though!
Absolutely superb, thanks so much for your passion for this music, great lesson and tab, great happiness for me to be able to play these songs.
Thanks for the nice words! When someone like you is enjoying playing and learning this music, right there is where the music lives on. The more people playing and learning, the more my mission is realized! Stay tuned for more lessons in the future!
Jeez man just discovered your channel. Absolutely amazing!
