Oh Yes As im watching the lesson,Im drooling over the guitar. Absolutely gorgeous. Next guitar for me is a 335. Going to b in Nashville end of July and def will b back to my favorite place. The Garage and will b playing a few of those
Well, i've been playing for 20+ years and never learned how to solo. But that's why im here i want to learn. I always figured i needed to know how to read music and know music theory. Which i don't but at least with lessons like this i can learn the patterns and maybe a few scales.
Marty- I just wanted to share my appreciation to your RUclips channel. I have been playing guitar for about a year now - I took lessons which didnt help me much. But after a year of watching your videos I can honestly say that I can play over 80 songs now and have made leaps and bounds in my abilities. Thanks man - I look forward to continuing to follow you and learn
Marty Schwartz, you're the reason why I didn't quit guitar 10 years ago. My favorite video still is the one where you teach smells like teen spirit with a duck face and you start doing the duck sound. That cracked me up but left a lasting impression on me. I'm so happy to see you're still creating new generations of guitarists. Thanks for all the work you do.
Honestly, this made such a difference. Learnt the 5 positions on pentatonic and a couple different modes but I didn't quite know how to use them! Was stuck in such a rut with it, I have a lot of fun still and get lost in playing alot but couldn't get anything to consistently sound great. Great lesson, great tips! Now I can break that next wall and make what I've learnt more useful.
Marty, you taught me to the play the guitar over 10 years ago.. .....guitar is such a huge part of my life now....though I don't watch your videos much these day, I'm forever grateful to you. Thank you.
Whenever I want to learn how to play a song or am having trouble with something, I look up Marty. I watch and go…Oh yea. Now I get it. He explains things in such a simple yet thorough way. He just has that knack. Super grateful for all the help. Thanks Marty! All the best.
This is the most helpful and encouraging video I have seen concerning learning how to solo. I can't tell you how long I have struggled making scales make any sense to me on a soloing level and you literally made it clear and attainable in the first 3 minutes. Wow. Thank you!
marty you are the first one who give me the feeling i check what you say !i come from germany but german teachers teach so difficult i dont know!thanks
You are simply an amazing teacher. Not only you are an excellent player but know exactly how to teach. I have seen a million tutorials over the internet and while there are superb guitarists out there they are not able to convey their knowledge so effectively as you do. Thumbs up.
Easily the most helpful video I have found pertaining to soloing. For awhile I was stuck, just combining my vocabulary with no real direction. These exercises add another element that really light up my playing. Thanks, man!!
Marty, you are an Awesome guitar instructor !! You are so much better than so many who don't take the time and detail or go slow enough that you do to progress a student through ! Others may go too fast or don't take the time to show specific notes and progressions the way you do . You simplify it well and lay it out so you're easy to follow ! I have played awhile and had lessons, which helps, but your instruction sheds new light for me on how to have fun continuing to learn ! Thank you for your excellent guidance, Marty !
Marty, just so you know… your channel motivated me to get back to my music roots. I am 51 and keen to rekindle my passion for playing the guitar as I use to between 7 to 19 years old. Rock on! ❤😊
Well done ,once again Marty. You always produce quality videos, you have excellent pace, detailed instruction and quality content , delivered with great humour. Always a pleasure and never a pain learning with you at the helm Captin... BIG THANKS
This lesson gave me a direction to practice. I've been learning the scales with no idea how to use them. This really opened things up for me. Thanks, man!
Marty ya know how many thousands of Ax teachers are on youtube but but you have helped me the most so thank you buddy...it takes huge patience unusual talent including insight to be able to cherri pick thru all the BS and give us the most helpful usable reference points...
Playin my acoustic guitars for about ten years, last 12 months following Marty, going to buy a used strat and an amp, can't wait to play an electric for the first time ever...thanks for the tutorials...you have surely helped many people thru this pandemic, playing two hours a day for almost a year, I can see progress...👍🎸thanks for all the awesome videos..
This looks familiar, and is a great exercise!! I've been playing a long time and always get something from watching these! You never stop learning! Thanks Marty!! --gary
This guy's videos got me since I began to play the guitar 5-6yrs ago, very comfy and pleasing to watch and follow for any kind of player, either ure a begginer, interm or advanced. Good job! Thanks again Marty! Keep up this great work! :)
Thank you Marty! Your videos are continuing to open my brain on music theory without learning music theory. I finally understand keys and major/minor scales
Marty, you're an awesome dude. I really appreciate your "stoke factor" which is always super positive, fun, and up-lifting. Your guitar skills and teaching ability are an obvious gift but I think one of your greatest attributes is that you have such positive energy; which is pretty hard to find in the world today. Keep it up and thank you for all you do!
Hi marty!!hows you goin bro?since 2012 when some of my friend, recomended me your RUclips channel,i learned how to play solo specially blues rock licks and pentatonic scale,,you help me a lot,,im from Philippines bro, thank you and wish you all nothing but the best master!!!!
Another excellent lesson by Mr. Marty.! This lesson is teaching scale patterns in segments of four is really helping me with circular or fluent guitar vocabulary. Thanks Marty.
Hey Marty im from Malaysia and ive been watching your videos all the time and it really helps me to understand the guitar such as scale and etc keep it up Marty!!!
Wow, Marty! I can not begin to articulate the appropriate words of appreciation for your lessons, as thank you seems to fall so short! I have played guitar for over 43 years, always wanting to play lead, but never advancing beyond playing rhythm. Learning from your videos has been an awesome experience for me! 👍🎸👏
well my friend i learnt from you to play ..light my fire...rocket man .... and now you given hope for the electric lol.well done you. God bless you for all the help and fun you bringing to us all.
This is a HUGE help. I remember a time before the internet came along and you could Ask Jeeves anything about guitar chords. Trying to learn chords from a book or little pieces of songs that friends had learned from someone else. I've learned so much in the past 5 years from Marty and other RUclips sources. Thanks Marty!
Marty, from the bottom of my heart and at the upmost honesty, you are the reason why I still even play guitar. First song I ever learned, which is weird, was master of puppets. And to any beginners reading rhis comment, start with a hard song. It sounds weird, but trust me, it will improve you greatly, and I started with alot of these more intermediate or advanced songs, and learnt the easier songs later down my road, my point is if you want to be good, learn hard songs off the get-go, as you will be amazing, first few years of playing guitar started in 2019, I was 11, and was really into metallica, so naturally, I learnt my favorite bands songs, map, was my favorite, so I learnt it, every 5th fret of each string, is the open note of the next string higher, (example, low e 5th fret is the same note as open a note.) Which I used to my advantage. I didn't start map on 7th fret a string, i started on 12 fret low e, went down to 2nd fret. That's called music theory, and it's crucial, and it's the first important thing I did, and learned and still use. But I also used a string for more compact shapes, as playing 5 frets ahead for a complex shape to alternate is counter-productive, so use it when necessary, but I really couldn't learn half the brain I have without this man. He changed me and shaped me into the guitarist I am today, and tomorrow since it's night for me, I'm going to learn solo stuff as it's been on my bucket list for a while. So, love yall, love ya Marty, anyone who's playing guitar, never give in, and keep going, and same with you Marty, keep rocking, anyways, I'm off, peace everybody.
Marty just wanted to let you know you got me into learning the guitar and you’re videos have really helped me out

Staying in the minor pentatonics something that helped me at the beginning was learn the root arpeggios for each position in each shape.
Soloing I firmly believe is why we all keep coming back to guitar. It's the ultimate way to just show and express. Great work man!
It’s really the only reason I picked it up. I’m not even really interested in rhythm guitar
Well, i've been playing for 20+ years and never learned how to solo. But that's why im here i want to learn. I always figured i needed to know how to read music and know music theory. Which i don't but at least with lessons like this i can learn the patterns and maybe a few scales.
Just the opposite for me. When I was a kid it was fast chugging. Now at 50 I’m finally trying more licks.
