It was a stealth ship. Stealth is its own form of combat. Admittedly its kinda hard to get out of visual range with a sail that big but once out of visual it was undetectable, and for a ship of that "relative" size, it is almost its own precedence.
I was going to say similarly, with it looking more like a luxury yacht than a fighter craft, its clear to me that it was never intended for combat roles. From a tactical standpoint, however, the fact its hard to track (I won't say impossible, because in reality radar would pick up that sail pretty easily) because of its lack of an engine would make it an excellent espionage tool, provided you kit it out with some high quality, long range sensors.

Not the issue it's the concept. A solar sailor would only work within the area of a star it's not an interstellar propulsion system as used in the film.

How can you have a Worst ship list without including the Resistance Bomber from TLJ. It's absolutely the stupidest concept and design in the SW universe.
The problem with the bomber is that it is incredibly slow, has relatively weak armor (virtually a glass cannon), is WAY too big of a target for a bomber, etc. It basically is a sitting duck with a huge attack profile filled to the brim with explosives. Basically a manned flying bomb. If you were using it as a light frigate, it would still be bad, as it has little in terms of ordinance aside from bombs and has incredibly weak armor. As a bomber, it is even worse, as it is too big of a target, is incredibly slow, has about as much maneuverability as a rock, and because of its bomber status, it would probably be singled out in combat because of the "threat" it poses to capital ships. There is a reason why the Resistance lost every single one of their bombers in one single battle: because it SUCKS! There is just no saving this ship. The B-wing was also a large ship that served as a bomber, but at least it was fast and maneuverable, and had guns that could actually pack a punch. The Resistance bomber tried to emulate the B-wing and failed. It is certainly one of the worst ships to ever grace the Star Wars universe. I daresay it even rivals the TIE-Wing ugly in terms of how bad it is. It fails in every category, including the role it was designed for. At least the Resistance transport still does what it was designed for. If the Resistance wanted a bomber, then they should have stuck with the B-wing. Yeah, by that time it would be pretty old, but it would still be a heck of a lot better than this waste of money and resources.
I think the resistance bomber is completely misinterpreted. I don’t think it was meant for space combat at all. Hence, the low speed and the odd delivery system for munitions. It might’ve been originally intended for planetary bombardment, either in-atmosphere or orbit. If that’s the case, it might be perfectly effective.

It makes no sense. We're comparing the space equivalent of a police car, a lorry, an experimental ship never meant to be flown and a luxury yacht to the equivalent of an A-10 warthog in space. Apples and oranges, it's a bad analysis. It's like they took one ship they really like and then filled the rest with bad examples to make it look better by comparison.

My biggest gripe with the sequels, particularly JJ Abrams film, is the utter lack of new or interesting art designs. It's all just the same thing with a new paint job, downright bland, or of course, completely hidden behind his poor lighting, and mountains of motion blur.
I mean they don't even have proper bombers (except of coarse the shitty ones in TLJ) so even in A game like Battlefront 2 you only have 2 options of fighter types in Starfighter assault which makes that era the least interesting for starfighter assault imo

Comparing the Solar Sailer and the Cloud Car to starfighters is kind of like comparing a sports car and a police motorcycle to military vehicles. IMO, there are only really three proper military vessels on this list, and of them, one is experimental, one is a transport, and one is the best on the list.
how is the K-Wing on the list while the "Resistance Bomber" is not, if the resistance had a half dozen K-Wings they would have taken down the dreadnaught without losses. The bomber which literaly had to get on top of the target to drop bombs, was absolutely the worst design I have seen in Star Wars. The K-Wing is extremely well armed, it was literaly designed to kill capital ships and get its crew back alive, and it did its designed role rather effectively in the (extended universe) Black Fleet Crisis novels.
@@Stormcastlecomics That is what they make me think of as well, but their non-aerodynamic base would cause them to move even slower if they could even fly at all. If they had more engines they would be a bit better, but even then they would be rather horrible ships. And If they were for atmospheric use then why did the resistance not have another type of bomber to do the attack, or have the Resistance bombers at all, even the Rebel Alliance mainly had space battle, so why would the Resistance have the bombers at all, much less for space use.
@@grandadmiralthrawn5120 It's possible that, since their payload was enough for basically a single one of them to destroy a capital ship, that they were meant to be launched in space and drop their payload from the upper atmosphere. With a payload like that, a fleet's worth of them could devastate ground fortifications. If there's an Extended Universe use of them showing otherwise, I apologize for my ignorance on the matter.
Flamin Faux I know of no extended universe use of them and in cannon they were used to destroy Imperial holdouts. But all I can say is that even four tie fighters could probably take out a dozen or more of them if they are used correctly.
I actually like the K-wing, and in particular, the way that it uses the wing's real estate for ordnance storage. It kind of reminds me of the A-10 warthog

The troop transport was probably intended as a drop ship and was unlikely to see direct combat. The cloud cars were essentially cop cruisers. The TIE-thing, uh, yeah, that. Dooku’s ship was reflective of his personality and favoured form. It was meant to be an artesian vessel. The First Order, yeah, they were a bit lost without Seinar. . . .
I think that this list pulls each ship out of context. The Solar Sailer was made to get Count Dooku places without getting detected, the TIE X-1 was made as an EXPERIMENT to put a turbo laser on a snub fighter, the cloud car was a civilian ship which was NOT MEANT FOR BATTLE, and the Resistance Transport was a refit B-wing which was made to show how much of a rag-tag group the Resistance truly was.

That K-wing used a lot of weapons other ships didn't like cluster and homing missiles, plasma torpedo's and a literal minigun.
If that fleet is so dangerous would you not want a smaller, more compact design with less exposed weaponry and a more durable body which may end up resulting in you sacrificing some weaponry?

I always liked it generally. Even when it was smaller, as the author who invented it first described it. Being that size mean't the lack of hyperdrive made a bit more sense.
I adore the solar sailor for the flavor it adds to Dooku’s character. He’s sophisticated, well-read, and progressively minded leader with a taste for the finer things in life. He strengthened diplomatic relations with Poggle the Lesser by buying the sail and ship, thereby expressing his interest in Geonosian history and tech.
Dude, k-wing is the best, and looks badass. Can't complain, the biggest "complaint" you guys made is "like it had too many weapons". It's a Star Wars version of an A-10 THUNDERBOLT, more weapon than wing is tha point.

Which is pretty badass for a single starfighter to do. If anything I would put the K-Wing as one of the best starships for a single pilot in the galaxy.
Imagine TLJ with k-wings instead of sitting ducks, using those turrets to keep the interceptors away or disable point defense - and sparing us the droping bombs weirdness, just have a torpedo run. Well, thats if you can't get your hands on Skipray Blastboats, those should one up the k-wing.
Tie Fighters were analogous to the Japanese Zero: Cheap to produce en masse, and surprisingly not bad. In fact, just like in the beginning year of WW II in which the Zero was massively out-performing the F4F Wildcat, the Tie Fighters did a pretty decent job as scout and subspace interceptor. Unfortunately, they simply are not capable of going toe to toe with something like an X-Wing or B-Wing or Y-Wing or especially the A-Wing... much like how the F6F Hellcat turned the tables on the Zero. Of course, for the price of a single X-Wing, you could make a couple dozen Tie Fighters, so you could still argue economics of scale. Shoot down an X-Wing for every six Tie Fighters shot down, and you're still trading a 2:1 economic advantage. And the Empire had massively more resources than the resource-starved Rebels. The Tie Experimental was designed for a completely different purpose, and there's kind of a logic behind it. Think about it from their perspective: What sort of ship would give a fleet of Star Destroyers fits? Answer: Something as maneuverable and hard to hit as a Tie Fighter but packing a Turbolaser. One cheap enough to be built in bulk. Think about the idea of hundreds of turbolasers being focused on a single target in a strafing run. That was the idea behind it. Granted, it didn't work because other people like to build things other than Star Destroyers, but that was at least the theory behind its inception, and assuming it was properly escorted by Tie Advanced, it could probably fill that role quite well. The Solar Sailor and the Cloud Car are not combat vehicles, they are strictly civilian in nature. Why are you even including these vessels? The Solar Sailor is an economic and stealthy in-system transport to get you to where you need to be to hit hyperdrive. It's like trying to claim that a Ford Mustang is lousy in a combat scenario... OF COURSE IT IS! The K-Wing is capable of taking out a Star Destroyer by itself if it got into optimal range. No other ship was really able to say that. I have no idea why it is even on this list. The transport ship is cobbled together out of scrap parts, by a group of people who had no access to the resources necessary to build a better ship. It's a testament to how on the ropes the Rebels are at this point in the timeline. In short, it's supposed to be a crappy ship, because it is all the rebels could afford. And that stealth field would have gone a LONG way to counteracting its deficiencies if PLOT hadn't come along and made it useless.
Actually, since the Tie Fighter is fairly fast and can maneuver on a dime, it's better suited to attack a B-Wing or Y-Wing. Both are slow and fly like slugs.
The tie experimental M1 "Bizzaro" was also supposed to be remotely controlled. There is no pilot putting his life on the line, and they were cheap to make. So the idea would be to send massive waves of the things at capital ships and who cares if they get destroyed? Send in the next wave of drones! Also, there were a whole line of different types of remote experimental tie fighters that all fit different roles, including a kamikaze tie fighter! So the M1 wouldn't operate on it's own, it would be accompanied by other types that could cover it's weaknesses. Still looks weird AF tho lol

I love the X-1 though, because it's the Empire taking the Rebellion's idea of using fighters against capital ships to the logical extreme. A few squadrons of X-1s have almost as much firepower as an ISD.
Sir Christopher Lee was a classy man and was THE boss. He was one of the first members of the SAS and helped fuck the AfrikaCorps in ww2. Was involved in pretty much every major film franchise except for marvel and Harry Potter, and did a metal album in his 80s. #likeaboss
The K wing is by far one of the most valuable starships in the New Republic's arsenal, simply because of its role and the Imperial space warfare doctrine. The Imperial Fleet put a very heavy emphasis on capital ships, so much so that the ships often had too little anti-starfighter weapons. A wing of heavy bombers like the K-wing could utterly devastate an Imperial fleet within minutes if allowed to operate unmolested. Really the only criticism of the ship is that it's highly specialized, which means there are some potential logistics issues in maintaining a ship when considering the New Republic's situation.
Wasn't the Solar Sailer one of Count Dooku's luxury vehicles and not a combat vehicle? I mean I could be wrong but it would be silly to fit weapons onto it. Just asking for clarifications on it's armaments, thanks
A laser cannon could be installed according to the books, but I never saw or read about this being implemented. It would replace the cockpit, and navigation would be rerouted to the back. Still, it was a personal VIP micro-yacht, not designed for frontline combat.

Here's a terrible ship for you: the nose cone of the Millennium Falcon from Solo. In the X-Wing miniatures game, you can use that escape craft as a ship on its own. The only reason it's any good in that game is the mechanics allow you to basically use it as a super-cheap command ship, which was certainly not the intended outcome.
Thematically, I enjoyed how literally they were world war 2 bombers, because the whole point of Star Wars dogfighting was world war II in space. However, from any kind of logical perspective, yes, they were many times worse than just dusting off some old Y-Wings and going to town.
Ok. Why are you talking about Dooku's solar sailer in terms of vulnerability like lasers....when it's not a combat ship? It doesn't go into battle. As for space debris...SW has shields for that. Honestly don't know why a purely civilian design is doing on a list of fighters, patrol vessels and military transports.
I think they should've had real writers instead of Kennedy in The Last Jedi. They also should've had decent choreographers and a halfway coherent plot and character arc instead of a "Rebellion but Worse" and a MaREY sue. Hell with it, instead of doing episode 9 they should just scrap the whole Disney canon except for Clone Wars and maybe Rebels, fire literally every writer, choreographer and actor involved, and just redo the entire post Yavin saga from scratch. Listen to Hamill and the fan base, incorporate the best stories from Legends and introduce new, dynamic characters that aren't defined by their gender race or species. Maybe do a few movies about the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin, for starters.
The K-wing reminds me of the A-10 Warthog ground jet. It is not as sleek as other jets and seems over armed but it is exactly the type of military vehicle needed when trying to punch through an obstacle in battle.
I'd say the worst First Order star fighter would be the standard issue Tie/fo Fighter. It proves they clearly learned nothing from the empire. Instead of mass producing the Tie Interceptor or even the Tie Defender, they just decided to repaint the most disposable ship a different color. They even have a Tie Fighter (sf) with 2 seats, a shield, and a hyper drive, yet for some reason, it hasn't completely replaced the standard one.
The F/O tie has shields and some have hyper drives. The one in TFA has a rear gunner due to it being a special forces fighter. So they learned something.
Solar sailor: why do you field this? K-wing: more dakka dakka dakka. Tie bizzaro: good thing it's a prototype. Cloud car: this isn't a military vehicle. Resistance transport: c'mon man. First order: why u no use anything right.
I think the k wing looks awesomely badass! And I think the main issue with the 1st order was their lack of resources. They poured all their credits, resources and time into recreating the empires massive scale that they didn't have the capability of fully fleshing out their armada. That and they suffered from a drastic lack of sound leadership, which of course was your point all along.
Well, we could just say 'worst designed' instead. You can be an amazing pilot and have plenty of planning and foresight, but not having to fight with the very way the ship is made is usually considered a big advantage.
I find this a tad ironic coming from the man who designed the TIE Defender as a keystone to his overall strategy. (Then again, I suppose you’re not really arguing against the value of quality starfighters, but rather how a good enough commander will make do with his resources)
CWDTrixie The reason the Resistance bombers were used was because of there massive amount of firepower, just one destroyed a resistance dreadnaught, Poe' s attack was critized as being wasteful, so of course the reistance bombers suffered such huge casualties, they didn't take evasive maneuvers, and their escorts didn't protect them from TIE fighters that well
I always thought the K-Wing was the most badass thing the rebels came up with. It has coverage on air and ground, with two viewports for a pilot and copilot, and TONS of weaponry. Dissing the K-Wing is like dissing the Apache AH-64. Not a good idea.

How these got destroyed and what it took. Death Star I: Rebels got lost ucky that Galen Erso made the flaw. Executor SSD: Rebels took down deflector shields and luckily the empire had over exposed bridges. Death Star II: Luckily the Rebels got there while DS2 was still in construction. Starkiller base: Rey and friends somehow didn’t die while setting the charges against dozens of stormtroopers and Poe luckily found a opening just big enough for a x-wing to go through with its s foils down and in and sideways. FO Dreadnaught(Last Jedi): Luckily the turrets and whatnot on the hull are nearly blind and can’t take out one fighter and luckily there’s one spot the for some reason is super weak and can be destroyed by one bomber. Supremacy: Actual ingenuity. Though an unnecessary sacrifice. These are all my interpretations please don’t hate me for stating these.

To be fair to the Confederacy, the Solar Sailer was Dooku's personal ship; it wasn't mass produced, and it wasn't intended for war. It was meant to take him places secretly, like how he (as the Head of State of the enemy) was able to slip onto Coruscant at the end of AOTC to meet with Palpatine.
I think the TIE X-1 makes sense, assuming it has the range of capital ship Turbolasers, you can just get a massive swarm (which the empire seems to love) and just bombard and overwhelm the en,y at a distance with small, relatively maneuverable ships, forcing the rebels to attack without having an interdictor.
Hell it makes sense for really any job the tie bomber would be sent to do, it was only in the prototype stage so it would be improved still, you could have 2 of these in the same space as a tie bomber, and they don't need to get above a target to deal heavy damage with there gun
Is the K Wing in the current canon or was it made for the EU? And the bombers were at the base they were evacuating. If the K Wing exists they could have been elsewhere. This was a retreat

The only CIS vessel they brought up was a civilian vessel that just happened to made by the Geonosians. I guess the Clone Wars era ships were simply better.
The venator hands down has to be the worst ship in the republic. It has a giant hole in the top of it along with minimal weapons and poor shielding. We saw them consistently getting destroyed in the cartoon Version of the clone wars as well it has an exposed bridge along with no defenses on its engines. There is so much wrong with it.
MisterHan2000; the LAAT had the side turrets retractable and sliding armored doors to protect troops. And although they looked dumb LAAT had like very few blind spots. Also u gotta admit that was an awesome design. In my opinion the worst republic ship were those unarmed cargo ships you see get destroyed from the clone wars show.

The problem with the bomber is that it is incredibly slow, has relatively weak armor (virtually a glass cannon), is WAY too big of a target for a bomber, etc. It basically is a sitting duck with a huge attack profile filled to the brim with explosives. Basically a manned flying bomb. If you were using it as a light frigate, it would still be bad, as it has little in terms of ordinance aside from bombs and has incredibly weak armor. As a bomber, it is even worse, as it is too big of a target, is incredibly slow, has about as much maneuverability as a rock, and because of its bomber status, it would probably be singled out in combat because of the "threat" it poses to capital ships. There is a reason why the Resistance lost every single one of their bombers in one single battle: because it SUCKS! There is just no saving this ship. The B-wing was also a large ship that served as a bomber, but at least it was fast and maneuverable, and had guns that could actually pack a punch. The Resistance bomber tried to emulate the B-wing and failed. It is certainly one of the worst ships to ever grace the Star Wars universe. I daresay it even rivals the TIE-Wing ugly in terms of how bad it is. It fails in every category, including the role it was designed for. At least the Resistance transport still does what it was designed for. If the Resistance wanted a bomber, then they should have stuck with the B-wing. Yeah, by that time it would be pretty old, but it would still be a heck of a lot better than this waste of money and resources.

I think the resistance bomber is completely misinterpreted. I don’t think it was meant for space combat at all. Hence, the low speed and the odd delivery system for munitions. It might’ve been originally intended for planetary bombardment, either in-atmosphere or orbit. If that’s the case, it might be perfectly effective.

My biggest gripe with the sequels, particularly JJ Abrams film, is the utter lack of new or interesting art designs.
It's all just the same thing with a new paint job, downright bland, or of course, completely hidden behind his poor lighting, and mountains of motion blur.
For me despite the flaws of the sequels I still think they are still a fun ride

Comparing the Solar Sailer and the Cloud Car to starfighters is kind of like comparing a sports car and a police motorcycle to military vehicles. IMO, there are only really three proper military vessels on this list, and of them, one is experimental, one is a transport, and one is the best on the list.

how is the K-Wing on the list while the "Resistance Bomber" is not, if the resistance had a half dozen K-Wings they would have taken down the dreadnaught without losses.
The bomber which literaly had to get on top of the target to drop bombs, was absolutely the worst design I have seen in Star Wars.
The K-Wing is extremely well armed, it was literaly designed to kill capital ships and get its crew back alive, and it did its designed role rather effectively in the (extended universe) Black Fleet Crisis novels.
Most likely those bombers are intended to be use in an atmosphere for best optimum use and not for attacking the way there were used.

If they had more engines they would be a bit better, but even then they would be rather horrible ships. And If they were for atmospheric use then why did the resistance not have another type of bomber to do the attack, or have the Resistance bombers at all, even the Rebel Alliance mainly had space battle, so why would the Resistance have the bombers at all, much less for space use.

With a payload like that, a fleet's worth of them could devastate ground fortifications.

Flamin Faux I know of no extended universe use of them and in cannon they were used to destroy Imperial holdouts. But all I can say is that even four tie fighters could probably take out a dozen or more of them if they are used correctly.
I actually like the K-wing, and in particular, the way that it uses the wing's real estate for ordnance storage. It kind of reminds me of the A-10 warthog

The Solar Sailer was made to get Count Dooku places without getting detected, the TIE X-1 was made as an EXPERIMENT to put a turbo laser on a snub fighter, the cloud car was a civilian ship which was NOT MEANT FOR BATTLE, and the Resistance Transport was a refit B-wing which was made to show how much of a rag-tag group the Resistance truly was.

I adore the solar sailor for the flavor it adds to Dooku’s character. He’s sophisticated, well-read, and progressively minded leader with a taste for the finer things in life. He strengthened diplomatic relations with Poggle the Lesser by buying the sail and ship, thereby expressing his interest in Geonosian history and tech.

Tie Fighters were analogous to the Japanese Zero: Cheap to produce en masse, and surprisingly not bad. In fact, just like in the beginning year of WW II in which the Zero was massively out-performing the F4F Wildcat, the Tie Fighters did a pretty decent job as scout and subspace interceptor. Unfortunately, they simply are not capable of going toe to toe with something like an X-Wing or B-Wing or Y-Wing or especially the A-Wing... much like how the F6F Hellcat turned the tables on the Zero. Of course, for the price of a single X-Wing, you could make a couple dozen Tie Fighters, so you could still argue economics of scale. Shoot down an X-Wing for every six Tie Fighters shot down, and you're still trading a 2:1 economic advantage. And the Empire had massively more resources than the resource-starved Rebels.
The Tie Experimental was designed for a completely different purpose, and there's kind of a logic behind it. Think about it from their perspective: What sort of ship would give a fleet of Star Destroyers fits? Answer: Something as maneuverable and hard to hit as a Tie Fighter but packing a Turbolaser. One cheap enough to be built in bulk. Think about the idea of hundreds of turbolasers being focused on a single target in a strafing run. That was the idea behind it. Granted, it didn't work because other people like to build things other than Star Destroyers, but that was at least the theory behind its inception, and assuming it was properly escorted by Tie Advanced, it could probably fill that role quite well.
The Solar Sailor and the Cloud Car are not combat vehicles, they are strictly civilian in nature. Why are you even including these vessels? The Solar Sailor is an economic and stealthy in-system transport to get you to where you need to be to hit hyperdrive. It's like trying to claim that a Ford Mustang is lousy in a combat scenario... OF COURSE IT IS!
The K-Wing is capable of taking out a Star Destroyer by itself if it got into optimal range. No other ship was really able to say that. I have no idea why it is even on this list.
The transport ship is cobbled together out of scrap parts, by a group of people who had no access to the resources necessary to build a better ship. It's a testament to how on the ropes the Rebels are at this point in the timeline. In short, it's supposed to be a crappy ship, because it is all the rebels could afford. And that stealth field would have gone a LONG way to counteracting its deficiencies if PLOT hadn't come along and made it useless.
Actually, since the Tie Fighter is fairly fast and can maneuver on a dime, it's better suited to attack a B-Wing or Y-Wing. Both are slow and fly like slugs.

TIEs are actually ~2-3 per X wing if I remember correctly, but still an economic advantage in theory.

The tie experimental M1 "Bizzaro" was also supposed to be remotely controlled. There is no pilot putting his life on the line, and they were cheap to make. So the idea would be to send massive waves of the things at capital ships and who cares if they get destroyed? Send in the next wave of drones!
Also, there were a whole line of different types of remote experimental tie fighters that all fit different roles, including a kamikaze tie fighter! So the M1 wouldn't operate on it's own, it would be accompanied by other types that could cover it's weaknesses. Still looks weird AF tho lol

The K wing is by far one of the most valuable starships in the New Republic's arsenal, simply because of its role and the Imperial space warfare doctrine. The Imperial Fleet put a very heavy emphasis on capital ships, so much so that the ships often had too little anti-starfighter weapons. A wing of heavy bombers like the K-wing could utterly devastate an Imperial fleet within minutes if allowed to operate unmolested.
Really the only criticism of the ship is that it's highly specialized, which means there are some potential logistics issues in maintaining a ship when considering the New Republic's situation.

In the X-Wing miniatures game, you can use that escape craft as a ship on its own. The only reason it's any good in that game is the mechanics allow you to basically use it as a super-cheap command ship, which was certainly not the intended outcome.

Thematically, I enjoyed how literally they were world war 2 bombers, because the whole point of Star Wars dogfighting was world war II in space. However, from any kind of logical perspective, yes, they were many times worse than just dusting off some old Y-Wings and going to town.
I thought the bombers were a bit too vulnerable, though heavy hitting. I also think it's weird not to see more A-wings and B-wings.

I think they should've had real writers instead of Kennedy in The Last Jedi. They also should've had decent choreographers and a halfway coherent plot and character arc instead of a "Rebellion but Worse" and a MaREY sue.
Hell with it, instead of doing episode 9 they should just scrap the whole Disney canon except for Clone Wars and maybe Rebels, fire literally every writer, choreographer and actor involved, and just redo the entire post Yavin saga from scratch. Listen to Hamill and the fan base, incorporate the best stories from Legends and introduce new, dynamic characters that aren't defined by their gender race or species. Maybe do a few movies about the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin, for starters.

The K-wing reminds me of the A-10 Warthog, they look a little similar, and both have a large amount of firepower.
The K-wing reminds me of the A-10 Warthog ground jet. It is not as sleek as other jets and seems over armed but it is exactly the type of military vehicle needed when trying to punch through an obstacle in battle.
I'd say the worst First Order star fighter would be the standard issue Tie/fo Fighter. It proves they clearly learned nothing from the empire. Instead of mass producing the Tie Interceptor or even the Tie Defender, they just decided to repaint the most disposable ship a different color. They even have a Tie Fighter (sf) with 2 seats, a shield, and a hyper drive, yet for some reason, it hasn't completely replaced the standard one.

The F/O tie has shields and some have hyper drives. The one in TFA has a rear gunner due to it being a special forces fighter. So they learned something.

I think the k wing looks awesomely badass! And I think the main issue with the 1st order was their lack of resources. They poured all their credits, resources and time into recreating the empires massive scale that they didn't have the capability of fully fleshing out their armada. That and they suffered from a drastic lack of sound leadership, which of course was your point all along.

I really don’t think there is a “worst” ship (if we aren’t counting the Y-Tie). With a good plan any ship can defeat any other.
Well, we could just say 'worst designed' instead. You can be an amazing pilot and have plenty of planning and foresight, but not having to fight with the very way the ship is made is usually considered a big advantage.
I find this a tad ironic coming from the man who designed the TIE Defender as a keystone to his overall strategy. (Then again, I suppose you’re not really arguing against the value of quality starfighters, but rather how a good enough commander will make do with his resources)

CWDTrixie The reason the Resistance bombers were used was because of there massive amount of firepower, just one destroyed a resistance dreadnaught, Poe' s attack was critized as being wasteful, so of course the reistance bombers suffered such huge casualties, they didn't take evasive maneuvers, and their escorts didn't protect them from TIE fighters that well

I always thought the K-Wing was the most badass thing the rebels came up with. It has coverage on air and ground, with two viewports for a pilot and copilot, and TONS of weaponry. Dissing the K-Wing is like dissing the Apache AH-64. Not a good idea.
Imagine if the rebels had used those instead of X-Wings and Y-Wings on the Death Star... or, if they had just flown in closer to the exhaust port...

Starkiller base: Rey and friends somehow didn’t die while setting the charges against dozens of stormtroopers and Poe luckily found a opening just big enough for a x-wing to go through with its s foils down and in and sideways.
FO Dreadnaught(Last Jedi): Luckily the turrets and whatnot on the hull are nearly blind and can’t take out one fighter and luckily there’s one spot the for some reason is super weak and can be destroyed by one bomber.

To be fair to the Confederacy, the Solar Sailer was Dooku's personal ship; it wasn't mass produced, and it wasn't intended for war. It was meant to take him places secretly, like how he (as the Head of State of the enemy) was able to slip onto Coruscant at the end of AOTC to meet with Palpatine.

I think the TIE X-1 makes sense, assuming it has the range of capital ship Turbolasers, you can just get a massive swarm (which the empire seems to love) and just bombard and overwhelm the en,y at a distance with small, relatively maneuverable ships, forcing the rebels to attack without having an interdictor.
Hell it makes sense for really any job the tie bomber would be sent to do, it was only in the prototype stage so it would be improved still, you could have 2 of these in the same space as a tie bomber, and they don't need to get above a target to deal heavy damage with there gun

The TLJ bombers were just an excuse to 1)Sell new toys and 2)To be able to simple reduce the amount of Resistance members.
Is the K Wing in the current canon or was it made for the EU? And the bombers were at the base they were evacuating. If the K Wing exists they could have been elsewhere. This was a retreat

The venator hands down has to be the worst ship in the republic. It has a giant hole in the top of it along with minimal weapons and poor shielding. We saw them consistently getting destroyed in the cartoon Version of the clone wars as well it has an exposed bridge along with no defenses on its engines. There is so much wrong with it.
MisterHan2000; the LAAT had the side turrets retractable and sliding armored doors to protect troops. And although they looked dumb LAAT had like very few blind spots. Also u gotta admit that was an awesome design. In my opinion the worst republic ship were those unarmed cargo ships you see get destroyed from the clone wars show.
