    Just did this myself and it was a success! A couple of things I'd like to mention:
    1) When removing the panel under the glovebox, I could not remove the right-most cable. I tried pulling until my fingers started bleeding but no luck. So I left that one in and fortunately it wasn't much of an issue
    2) When everything was done, my front windows started acting strange. When pushing the window switch "full down" or "full up", the automatic raising/lowering did not work. Fortunately there was an easy fix - I recalibrated the windows by holding the switch down until the window was down and then for a other 5 seconds, then repeated the same thing while raising the window.
    Edit: Also, I didn't have that fancy screwdriver so I didn't remove the bottom panel on the driver's side. This did not create any issue at all.

      Awesome work Jehan - glad to hear it was a success! And thanks so much for sharing your experience about how the install went. Your production quality in these videos is excellent, Dhruv. Your voice is so clear, and you have speeded up the video in just the right places to show exactly what is required and nothing more. I think you must be wasted in your day job :) clearly you should be involved in training for Tesla mobile techs worldwide!
    This doesn’t apply to my earlier Model 3 which already has the premium audio, but it was still interesting to see the differences - you have an improved auxiliary battery, and an OBD socket where mine does not

    • @808jspekeg6
      @808jspekeg6 Год назад +2

      Of course. The amp is built into the CPU.
      Hansshow's harness foolishly runs the 4 dormant speakers on the same single channel on the amplifier as the dash speakers, instead of it running on separate channel. Thus, putting heavy unnecessary stress on the amplifier (and CPU).
      Guess what happens when your amplifier goes 💥?

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 года назад +4

      Thanks Alex! I messaged Hansshow about this to confirm the difference and this is what they just came back with: "The 2022 AMD Ryzen DIY cable with the control box, and the new version DIY cable insert the frequency divider integrated with the harness, so it can save the cost. But the function is same." However, I've noticed on their website that the new DIY version is only compatible with the LHD version of the car. So if you have a LHD model, I would get the new one to save some money. Hope this helps 🙂

      Excellent question! The DIY (New Version) did not exist when I recorded this video but I have asked Hansshow and they have said that both function exactly the same way. The new version has an integrated control box but is only compatible with the 2022 models with the AMD Ryzen chip. If you have an older model with an Intel Atom chip, then you still need to get the original DIY version. I would get the cheaper new version if you have the AMD chip.

    Hi, I'm not a fan of highs but you mentioned that it should be suitable if you adjust it in the sound settings. Have you noticed the bass is still strong when doing this? Also, I noticed there is a "control box" that comes with the kit, you didn't use this from what I can see, what is that for? Great vid!

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 года назад +1

      Yes if you tone down the highs/treble a bit from the settings, you can get a much more balanced overall sound in my opinion. There was pretty much no underlying impact to the bass with this kit but due to brighter highs on default settings, to some it may sound like that the bass has been dampened a bit. The control box for this version of the kit just literally makes it work - there are no buttons or anything you can change on there hence I didn't really talk about it much. Hope this helps 🙂

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 года назад

      Yes it sure does! I just seems absurd that the speaker hardware is there but Tesla just decides to leave it unconnected in the base models of the 3. This is due to the difference in the partial premium interior of the RWD/SR+ vs the full premium interior of the LR/Performance variants which I talked about in my previous sound system review video (ruclips.net/video/P_zp-rNwLk4/видео.html). For Model Y, luckily even the base RWD model for the AU/NZ has the full speaker system so this is not required. Have you received a delivery date for your Model Y yet?

      Installing mods like these doesn’t exactly void the warranty on the car as that would be a violation of the law. However, if you install this kit and anything related to the audio system breaks and Tesla feels/shows that something isn't working because of this kit, they can deny warranty work on that part. The installation is easily reversible if you do need to take it into warranty for some reason.

      @@tomwootton254 I just ordered a few days ago and will complete mod soon. New version only requires one side to be taken apart. I have LHD.

      Yes it will work if you buy the AMD version as another viewer suggested 🙂 the speaker config has not changed from the 2021/2022 models

      For reference. It does work on 2023 models and the RHD new DIay version means you do still have to go through the centre console. The LHD drive new version everything is on the passenger side.

      Yep! I sure was and raised my disappointment in the sound system review video I did last year (ruclips.net/video/P_zp-rNwLk4/видео.html). Have no idea why they do this honestly... I mean take the speakers out completely if you aren't going to connect them. Or offer them as a paid upgrade if you don't want to include them in the base model 🤷‍♂️

    Don't buy it! They send me the cable after I remind them a month after I paid that they forgot to send it. When I got it: no instructions. I try to fit as in video and when arrived at pillar to plug that one there: no match. Contact them: send them pictures and they told me that is a diferent place to plug it notcas you see here, but on the other side ... They send me some pictures with instruction where the car in the pictures is a LHD. At this stage I had enough of theyrs s stupidity and just tell you: don't waste your time and money

    goodbye warranty

    • @EVKiwis
      @EVKiwis  2 года назад

    • @Y0UTUBEADMIN
      @Y0UTUBEADMIN 2 года назад

      I have asked Tesla and showed them this video and they have said this is instantly voiding warranty.

    • @liamventer
      @liamventer Год назад

      @@Y0UTUBEADMIN They can say what they like, but it does not change the laws of the country. In most countries it mods will only void the warranty if the mod you made causes an issue. So if you mod your sound system and have a failure with the sound system it will void the warranty on the sound system but the other components/operations of the car will not be effected. I believe the difficulties will be, who has the onus of proof of whether your mods effected some other component or operation of the vehicle. In instances in the past where I have seen a vendor try to deny warranty of an unrelated fault in New Zealand the vendor quickly backed down and honoured the warranty when challenged.
