@@byanymeansnecessary398i dont think at the age of this guy he’s out there skate boarding. My statement is for his age. Since he’s been accused of having a boring style
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on this channel before, but I just want to say that I look up to you when it comes to classic wear because you’re definitely one of the best dressed men I know on this platform! So thank you for all the invaluable advice you gave and continue to give us 🫡
Your style is exquisite. It’s actually hard and expensive too to dress as nicely and it also requires to “wear the clothes” well which is sort of an x-factor. I have a ton of appreciation of you and those who dress as nicely - it’s inspiring
I'm the same way. I've worked with people who follow trends. Guess what they have to replace their whole wardrobe because trends come and go. Classics are timeless.
As I live outside of Central cities, relative peace is considered boring and my aunt trying to persuade me about this bustle and hustle of life in Kuala Lumpur. But it does not speak for me, any clothing from that wretched city except fine tailors; will never resonate with my identity as a well-mannered kid. I somehow see myself as an insecure peasant when I was peer pressured to try H&M clothing. Since then, I have only worn my casual clothing with a polo or a linen shirt and a jacket, especially a field jacket to be noticeable in a modernist and casual city.
I have the very same aesthetic. And when I do get a creative feeling, I keep what I call “fun socks” and pocket squares; they are striped and plaid and garish and absurd- sometimes just what the occasion requires.
Stumbled upon your channel and love it. My issue is, I’m 6’8 and have limited choices and prefer not to get the men’s warehouse treatment. I’ve just got NO CLUE where to find a good menswear store or tailor in my area.

A brown rather than a navy blazer isn't boring. In fact, it's a great idea: navy is too close to indigo, so at least you can wear that jacket with your favorite jeans. Also, you spend most the video without a tie which is where I think lies the problem: plain jackets and simple or even solid shirts do look boring on their own. Traditionally, you would wear a tie -- and the colors in there would make the outfit come alive. The same would happen if you wore jeans: the color is always slightly uneven (more so when a dark wash pair fades from wear) and there's texture in that weave. Still, since so many people skip neckwear these days, many outfits that normally work are a little too uniform. And I don't know how well green works for you, but hunter green and dark olive green are great for sport coats... It adds variety without leaving the earthy tones and they also are versatile.
I'd upgrade it by wearing a british drape cut suit, but that's me, your attires are far better than most of the ugly clothes people wear nowadays, so kudos to you. Stay classy.
Most of my life if I owned a suit, it was just one and always a simple navy blue. I also tend to switch in grey slacks a lot of the time. Colour comes from the tie and or pocket square which could be anything from silver to purple. I have always wanted to have more suits and to wear them more often even though I'm retired.
@@hespokestyle Roll the tape back twenty years. What do you find? Jon Gosselin in an Ed Hardy t-shirt, distressed jeans with tacky stitching on the back pockets, and squared-toed shoes. Roll the tape back sixty years, and you find JFK playing touch football in simple khaki shorts, a gray t-shirt, and simple black sunglasses. Guess which one stands the test of time?
When you start paying attention to what others say about your style, it may indicate a lack of confidence. The sartorial journey can be a solitary one. We need to break free from societal expectations and explore new places that most people may never venture into or understand. To truly have fun and develop your personal style, you must learn not to be influenced by others' opinions.
@hespokestyle I'm wouldn't call anyone boring, as I am of the opinion that anyone should wear what they like. I have an issue with how much "timeless" is thrown around in this community. We are talking about a 100 years of WESTERN menswear at most. Pretty negligible in prospective of thousands of years of fashion history across many cultures and hopefully thousands of years of fashion future across multiple cultures. Japanese Kimonos and Yukatas for example are a lot more timeless... Same reason why "classic" is a not an appropiate word. It comes from a eurocentric (or westerncentric) and short term point of view. This comes from someone that mostly dresses like this, but doesn't appreciate the sense of superiority when people compare this way of dressing to other styles. I like the focus on craftmanship and a cut down on consumerism.
@@Leilei633I think the “classic” comes from the V taper for men to accentuate their chest to waist ratio, which is attempted in most cultures as a sign of strength and vitality. Or the neutrality of colors as universally easy to work with, or the literal piece of fabric that points to the mans gong as the end goal of almost every man when it comes to where they want their mate to be focused on. 😂😂😂
Although it's true that it doesn't define a person, we must remember that dressing is a way of expressing yourself, so in the end it does tell a lot about you.
I think what is boring is mixing and matching. If you keep the suits uniform, it’s exciting the more simple the more exciting believe it or not. Plain white shirt is far better than patterned the more you go up the scale and formality the more exciting.. When you get to the point where you look like you just stepped out of a black-and-white movie, you will be turning all heads and getting special grants
Boring!!! I love a classic style. I was previously accused of being stiff for how I dress. An ex partner always mocked me for wearing a smart shirt with a merino wool jumper with chinos or smart jeans. What's wrong with a smart sports jacket and pocket square? It's better than a hoodie
