I CAN"T BELIEVE IT!!!!!! I am actually bead crocheting! I finally saw what my mistake was, I was not making sure the thread was in front of the bead! Now they are laying like a pro! I like how you went through one loop at a time. I think doing it that way you don't take a chance on making it to tight. You need good eyes for such fine thread and tiny loops. Your work is beautiful and I will subscribe so I can watch more of your videos. 😊
I use some heavy duty magnifying glasses when beading. That way I can work so much longer when everything looks nice and big. Thank you for subscribing, although I’m not sure I’ll be making many more bead crochet videos. I started out making them when I was totally new to bead crocheting, and found so many confusing terms. I just wanted to be able to try bead crocheting and wanted to feel that I was doing it right. So my videos were truly born out of frustration, hoping I could help others that might have been experiencing the same problems. I’m so grateful they are a help! Thank you for your kind words.

I have been trying to do beaded crochet for some time now with no success. This was a great tutorial, the directions were so clear and concise. I've watched so many videos on this and they were no help. Too much talking not enough doing. This however was perfect! And while I still have some practicing to do (and tension adjustment) I've finally figured out how to do this. Thanks you so much! :)
yolanda villegas Thank you for your compliment. When I was trying to teach myself how to do this, it took forever. I started, did a few rounds, stopped and tore everything out to start over. I must have done this at least a dozen times. I even had to push the beads down the thread and cut off the end that was so worn from all my starts. But just like you, I told myself that I would succeed and finally I did. I know you will too!!! When I did feel that I was doing pretty well, I still wasn’t happy with my beginning rows. I finished it anyway and then suddenly realized that those first few rows wouldn’t even be seen since they would be glued into the end cap....yay! Hang in there, you’ll get it!!! Take care.

Shanta Srivastava Hi! Thank you so very much for all your kind comments. It means a lot to me to help others enjoy doing this. Let’s see where to start. I know that in most of the 7 videos that I have here I show the Lizbeth thread that I use. I have no idea why I’ve never showed the ‘big eye’ needles that I put my thread in to pick up each bead. These ‘big eye’ needles I got through Amazon and they come in two lengths. I live in the middle of nowhere so I buy most everything online. Even the end caps I use I usually buy online from Etsy and Fire Mountain Gems. Once in awhile I find a bead shop where I can get really unusual end caps like the ones pictured here on the black and gold bracelet. As far as the patterns, after buying a few, I decided to design my own using a free download from jbead. That software is also explained in one of the 7 videos. It’s the best!!! Another of my videos shows how to buy enough beads by explaining how many beads of each size are in a gram or on a hank. I put notes under each of my videos and there you will also find the names of all the rest of my videos. Hopefully this helps you. Thanks again for reaching out! Once you try this, you’ll be hooked believe me. Enjoy!
Thank you I get confused about what bead is next ,like which one I already did or didn’t do. I do like the double better it’s easy and is more flexible. I’m determined to get the hang of it. 😁
Alice Roberts Your welcome. I’m so very glad to hear how determined you are! So I’m confident you will get the hang of it. Good luck and thanks for your comment.

Hi Ronda, thank you for this tutorial. I have managed to work with size 8/0 Toho beads but would like to know what make of beads you use? Thank you, Sue
Sue Miller Hi Sue. I’m glad my tutorial has been helpful. Truthfully, I use all types of seed beads in my projects. But here’s a list of my favorites. Oh, by the way, I don’t usually use size 8/0 seed beads except for an accent. Every pattern I found when I started doing bead crochet called for size 11/0 seed beads, so I just got used to using that size. My 1st choice: Toho 11/0 seed bead. 2nd choice: Czech 11/0 and my 3rd choice is Miyuki delicate 11/0. Sometimes I use a size 10/0 seed bead in with the 11/0 because I need that color and can’t find it in 11/0. It adds a little depth to the design and works in very well. I have 6 other videos on RUclips for bead crochet that may also be helpful. Thanks so much for your question. Enjoy bead crocheting!!!
Can u tell me where u get ur gorgeous end caps from and how do u determine what size end cap u will need; or, r u working from a written pattern that gives u that information? Ty!
I’ve gotten all my top quality end caps from a little shop in Oberlin, Ohio, that sadly is no longer in business. I’m glad that I bought a lot of them before they went out of business. Sadly, I’d purchased some on line and from jewelry making catalogs before finding this shop, and not a one of them carried first rate quality jewelry findings. I’ll add you to my list of people to get in touch with whenever I find another great source. As you know, the end caps, clasps, and chains have to be of the finest quality, otherwise they ruin the whole piece over time if they discolor or the finish wears off in places. I do work from purchased patterns sometimes, but I always measure the ends of my work to match them to the right size end caps. I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes the circumference of my piece doesn’t match the size in their instructions. I use a caliper to measure the ends. Hopefully, I’ve answered your questions. Thank you so much for reaching out to me. Enjoy creating beautiful bead crochet pieces!!!
Thank you for asking. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time yesterday looking through all my books to find the one I used for the one and only bangle bracelet I’ve made. I must have loaned it to someone and they never returned it. I wouldn’t have been able to include pictures of the illustrations in that book that I went by anyway, because of copyright laws. I was hoping to at least send you the author and title of the book. Just a quick note…..I only ever made one of these bracelets because putting it on and taking it off seemed to put a ton of pressure on it and I was very concerned it would come apart. So that’s probably why I loaned out that book and wasn’t worried when I didn’t get it back. I’m so sorry to not be of much help.

I love ur videos. Such great information. I have been crocheting for awhile now. I have been trying to do a beaded rope but every time I try I have a lot of thread showing thru each bead. I have changed size of needle and thread. But I get the same result. What am I doing wrong?
Tanya Trapp-Snyder Hi Tanya! I’m so glad that my videos are helpful. The only thing I can think of is to make sure that when you make each crochet stitch, your loop is just large enough to pull the end of your crochet hook through. Not too loose and not too tight. By working with just the tip of your tiny crochet hook and not pushing your thread up the wider shaft of the hook this should cause less thread to show. Some thread will always show so make sure that your thread matches the majority of you beads. I’ve found that when I use the Lizbeth thread size 80 from Handy Hands Tatting, my thread shows a lot less. That thread is really strong as well as fine. Hopefully I’ve explained this well enough to be helpful to you. Happy bead crocheting!!! :)
Adelia boop Hi Adelina! After chaining in each of the first beads in a line, I go under the 'first' bead and into the chain stitch to start crocheting in the second round. I'd hoped this video was clear on that. Sorry if it wasn't. There is no joining with a slip stitch or a chain stitch between rounds.
Denise Hockenberry Thanks! I’m so glad my videos work for you. I did try to make a video of a black bead crochet bracelet, but no matter what light I used or how much I zoomed in, you still couldn’t see my stitches well enough. So no, there isn’t a video showing you how I did my black bracelet. That bracelet is briefly shown in progress in my video entitled, “Bead Crochet Thread and Hook Sizes. I actually have a total of 7 videos covering different things about bead crochet on RUclips. So if you just wanted to see a black bead crochet bracelet, check that video out, it’s shown somewhere in the middle of it. Thank you for asking. :)
Denise Hockenberry Working with black thread is a real challenge! I don’t need magnifying glasses, but I got myself a cheap pair of readers that really helped. All of a sudden my fine black thread and beads looked really large. Who knew? I also have an Ott light that I had setting on my sewing machine and put in on the table near my chair. And here I’d only used it when trying to get the lighting right for the video. All that extra light really, really helped. Hope these ideas help you have fun with black thread. The black thread with the black beads make such a elegant statement. Hang in there....it will be beautiful!
Rhonda thank you! Your worknis absolutely beautiful!! I do have an ott light! What kind of beads are you using? Right now I am just using cheap one! I have to play around with hook size! Thank you for helping! 😊
Denise Hockenberry Wow, thank you so very much for your compliment. I’m rather addicted to bead crochet since teaching myself how to do it. Generally, I use size 11/0 seed beads in any brand and color that I like. They are either Toho, Miyuki, or Czech by name. I live in the middle of nowhere so I have to order my beads online unless I’m traveling and find a store....then I go crazy and stock up on every color of size 11 seed beads that they have. When buying thread, be sure to buy a sturdy twisted thread so your bracelet will last. I always use Lizbeth thread size 80 or 40 that I order from Handy Hands Tatting. Again, one of my videos covers this. I strongly suggest that if you are going to use the size 11 seed beads for your finished project, you should practice with that size. I tried to go from doing it with pony beads and a large thread and really, really, struggled to go from that to the really small stuff. Just me though maybe.
Wonderful tutorial Rhonda! I'm almost ready to begin these projects! For reference, what size mm are the bead caps you used for this 8 bead/row bracelet? And do you know what size the bead caps would be for a bracelet with 10 beads/row? (All with 10/0 beads) thanks again!
hiddenbeauty12 Actually, when I’m all done with a project, I measure the ends and go online to see what end caps I can find that I like and will fit. The bracelet shown in this video was made for a close friend to give to her daughter in Europe as a gift. I can’t remember the size of these end caps. I do remember that they could be slightly bent down to fit closer to the beads of the bracelet. You have pointed out to me that I should take notes on my projects so I can be more helpful. Thanks for that!!! Live and learn I guess. Also, I’ve never made a bracelet using all size 10/0 seed beads. But laying the finished ends on a ruler will tell you what size you need. As I recall, the places that I purchased end caps from, explained what size I would need to fit the measured end of my bracelet. Maybe after the holidays, I should make a video showing how to measure the ends, decide which end caps to use, and finish the bracelet. I’ll think about that. Thanks again for your questions!!! Sorry I’m not more help. I’m so excited that you’re ready to create some beautiful bead crochet projects. Trust me it”s addictive!!!
I watched part of this video and think you’d like the order for the Burberry colors bracelet I’m starting. I’d love to share with you the order I used, but unfortunately, I purchased this pattern and that designer owns the rights to it. Even though I changed their pattern slightly, I still by law would be unable to share the bead order. I can’t remember the name of the person that I bought the design from since it’s been almost 3 years ago. I am so sorry. I can suggest that you check out Pinterest. A lot of times you’ll find designs there that people share for free. There might be one there like this one. Sorry I can’t be more help. Also, if you’re referring to the bracelet that is gold and black that I show finished in the beginning, I purchased that pattern too. When I started I was unable to design on my own. I do have a total of 7 videos on RUclips that go into the software I finally found so I could design my own bracelets. Thanks for asking.
Kari Cantrell Oh wow, with everything I’ve done, I’ve never done anything with multiple pages of beads to string. But then, I only do bracelets. On those, I string all the beads in the pattern from beginning to end. I’m not much help here I guess, but I would do the same thing if I had multiple pages. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
I am struggling to get this. I have torn my rope apart probably 3 dozen times at this point. I'm not sure which part I'm not getting exactly, but my rope doesn't look neat and organized at all; it almost looks like a giant knot. I can do the first row, no problem, its everything else after that...🤦🏼♀️ Any suggestions?
Oh wow! 3 dozen times. Take a big, big, breath! I can feel your pain. When I started I did the same thing.....over and over again. So here are some tips to keep in mind and I hope they help. In this video I stress the size of the loop you keep on your crochet hook. It almost sounds like yours are a little too large...and that can make it look like a knot mess. Also, after making the first ring it is so important that you start by putting your crochet hook under the next bead without skipping any and keep the bead that is already there on that first ring to the right as you add your next bead. Sometimes I even forgot to do a slip stitch crochet and added in a single crochet and that made for a knot mess. To get the result you want you have to crochet not too loosely or too tightly. I went from one extreme to the other. I have 6 other bead crochet videos on RUclips and just maybe you’d rather try what everyone calls “double bead crochet”. It’s not actually a double crochet stitch that is used but I didn’t want to mess with their terminology. In that technique you get a more pliable finished project and you don’t have to worry about pushing the base bead on your project to the right when you add the bead on the next row. The beads on your project lay at a 45 degree angle instead of laying flat next to each other. So maybe check those other 6 videos out. Oh my gosh, good luck. Please don’t give up. Hopefully, these tips will help you. I have been where you are at and know your frustration.
@@rhondarohaly thank you! I will keep trying, mainly because I'm stubborn and really want to figure this out lol I just have to find the right tension I guess, but I will look at the other videos.

Nice to meet you ! well if possible you could teach the amount of beads to be able to make a beautiful drawing, but I would like the video you put the beads on the wire so I can know the amount and the time to repeat the restart to form a snake please help me ... thank you soul much ...
Dan RODRIGO I’m doing great, thank you! Nice to hear from you. Hopefully my other video “Bead Crochet Design” will help you. In it I explain about the software that I use. That software tells you exactly how many beads in each color you’ll need for whatever length you want your finished piece to be. It even shows the repeats needed for your design. Another video explains how many beads are in a gram to help make sure you buy enough of each color. In all I have 7 videos about bead crocheting on RUclips. Just type in my name, ‘Rhonda Rohaly’, and they will all show up. A snake sounds intriguing. All I’ve ever done are bracelets. Good luck with your design! Thanks for your question.
Lakshmi Ramachandra Hi! I made a video, “Bead Crochet Designs” that will answer your question. It is one of the 7 that I’ve put on RUclips. Although I don’t make necklaces, only bracelets, that video should help you to figure how many beads you will need for your project. The video explains the free software I use for designing my bracelets. It will figure how many beads you will need for your design. I hope this helps you. :) Have fun with bead crocheting!!!
Akrina Hi, I just made a new video today that I hope will help you. It's entitled "How many beads per gram". If you have any more questions, just let me know. Anything I can do to help you have fun bead crocheting, I'll gladly do!
Akrina Hi Akrina! When making my bead crochet bracelets, I generally use size 11/0 seed beads. Sometimes I use size 10/0 though. I can't always find the color I want in the size 11/0 so I'll use size 10/0. For an occasional accent, I'll add in some size 8/0 seed beads. The size 8/0 really stand out above the smaller 11/0 beads. You'll need to watch your thread tension when adding in a larger bead. You want the larger bead to stand out, but you also want the smaller beads around it to lay down correctly. I use 3 different types of seed beads in my bracelets. My 1st choice is Toho 11/0, 2nd choice is Czech 11/0, and 3rd choice is Miyuki Delicate 11/0. Hopefully this helps you. If you need any further assistance, just ask. I'm here to help you. I love bead crochet and want others to love it too! Happy bead crocheting!!!
Claire bacchi Hi Claire! In answer to your question I would direct you to my “Bead Crochet Designs” video. I have a total of 7 videos on RUclips covering bead crochet. They cover everything from how many beads there are in a gram to the actual design software that I use. The design software tells you how many beads you will need for the size of your project as well as what order to string them for your design. Let me know after watching them if you have any more questions. Happy bead crocheting!!!
I’m sorry as well, Ruth. The seed beads I use are very small. Unfortunately, I only have the camera on my iPad to use to make my videos. It’s truly challenging to try to work while only seeing what I’m doing through its screen. I was hoping that people watching it would be able to zoom in somehow on whatever they were watching it on. I guess that’s impossible. I know I can’t do it on my iPad unless I pause the video and take a screen shot. Then I can make the image larger in my photos. That’s not a solution though. I wish I could be of more help to you.

Hi Rhonda! I didn't get to see...did you close the ring into the first bead or you kept the ring tight and then started to crochet?? Thank you!
I love your videos, do you have any videos using black thread?
Rhonda thank you so much! I am having a trying time with black thread!
Can you show in what order you used to string the beads on the string i want to make this pattern
I have some patterns that have multiple pages. How do I string my beads?. Thank you
Kari Cantrell Oh wow, with everything I’ve done, I’ve never done anything with multiple pages of beads to string.
Hello Rhonda, how are you? Nice to meet you !
well if possible you could teach the amount of beads to be able to make a beautiful drawing,
but I would like the video you put the beads on the wire so I can know the amount and the time to repeat the restart to form a snake please help me ...
thank you soul much ...
Also I would like to know how many beads do I need to make a necklace for 11 size bead?
Lakshmi Ramachandra Hi! I made a video, “Bead Crochet Designs” that will answer your question. It is one of the 7 that I’ve put on RUclips. Although I don’t make necklaces, only bracelets, that video should help you to figure how many beads you will need for your project. The video explains the free software I use for designing my bracelets. It will figure how many beads you will need for your design. I hope this helps you. :) Have fun with bead crocheting!!!
Amazing!
Hi, i just started learning bead crochet on your videos ... i want to ask how many grams of bead is needed to make a nice bracelet?
Akrina Hi, I just made a new video today that I hope will help you. It's entitled "How many beads per gram". If you have any more questions, just let me know. Anything I can do to help you have fun bead crocheting, I'll gladly do!
hi Rhonda, may i ask if what type of seed bead is best for bead crochet?
Thank you again Rhonda ... im inlove with bead crochet, seeing those finish products really amaze me and i really want to learn and do it 😊
Bellisimos🌞
superb.
How do you know how many beads to string? What is the formula? Thanks, Claire
Sorry but the beads were way too small for me to see what you were doing.😢
I’m sorry as well, Ruth. The seed beads I use are very small. Unfortunately, I only have the camera on my iPad to use to make my videos. It’s truly challenging to try to work while only seeing what I’m doing through its screen. I was hoping that people watching it would be able to zoom in somehow on whatever they were watching it on. I guess that’s impossible. I know I can’t do it on my iPad unless I pause the video and take a screen shot. Then I can make the image larger in my photos. That’s not a solution though. I wish I could be of more help to you.
