This is a great trick! It seems to work for each character once to the jobs mentioned in the description. It really helps get the game started which seem to be the hardest part ( party leveling at the start of the game). GO CHEMIST!
For those having trouble with the Wizard Class (PSX only): - Scroll the list down until you can only view spells "Fire 4" to "Ice 3". - Now select "Bolt", press Circle, then hold Square and press Down. It should select "Ice 2" If you follow those exact steps, you should end up with 0000 JP. Then you just back out of the Ability List and go back in, and you'll get 9999 JP. It did take some experimenting. Some selections remove only 30 or so JP. Some remove no JP at all.
Tried here... Its work. Its easy. Just scroll down a skill, select it. When "OK" showns, hold square, and hold the down button. When cursor land a "unlearned" skill and the "OK", landed on "YES", press circle, return, return and acess the learn job skills.
Now to get my ps1 and final fantasy tactics out to try this. my favorite generic character was a summoner with a faith rod and the Math Skills secondary ability who had mastered their own class, Black mage, white mage, time mage, oracle, and Calculator (ntsc job title) // Arithmetician (i think this was the non ntsc title for the same job)
it only will work on these classes Chemist, Priest, Wizard, Time Mage, Summoner, Mediator, Oracle, Geomancer, Lancer, Samurai, Ninja, Squire (Ramza Only), Temple Knight, Holy Swordsman
Wow! This really works (sometimes). It's kind of a wierd quirk, but I am definitely going to try it in my next game to get those painfully slow to get Calculator skills.
That's the impossible job class to master since you need Ramza yell ,items with speed bonuses and the archer reaction ability on hit to obtain 1 speed attribute, since haste and haste 2 is mostly useless on calculators or in general if you don't move.
If youre still having trouble heres what worked for me. Select an ability u can learn. When the "Are you sure?" pops up and u have to choose 'yes' or 'no', hold square and press down/up (the ability list has to be long enough that u can scroll up and down the page a bit, so its not available to all jobs. Eg: Squire isnt applicable since it only has a short list of abilities). This should have your cursor over a different ability. Now select yes. Some abilities wont get activate the trick.
Thanks bud! My brother is playing this game(for the first time) and I knew this trick from a looong time ago but couldn't remember the last bit about going to the status menu!
I knew that trick, all too well, thanks to the walkthroughs. I even play the PSP version of it despite the slower spell animations but rather unique jobs, added gameplay, added characters, and FMVs. I do not regret not using the JP trick though in PSP for it does not work on it anyway due to change in programming for PSP version.
@RobotHerd Ah yeah. I've found out how to manipulate this glitch fully in a FAQ shortly after my comment. The video creator did a very sloppy job at making this video. He claims the glitch works with classes that "scroll down". Every damn class in the game can "scroll down". It's what confused me and had me wondering why not squire? He should have said "page down",which is what everyone else says, but i only found this out after in the FAQ. I appreciate that you tried to help me though. Thanks.
wow, this really works. But it's a shame it doesn't work on Wizard and other jobs that don't have a lot of abilities like for example 'Chemist'. But this helped me get my party to have teleport and all these good stuff. Thanks.
Since it's not mentioned on the video or the video description, I thought it would be worth posting it. When you hold square and scroll down, the 'finger' needs to land on an ability that's greyed out. So if for example you have too much XP and all your abilities and available to learn, it won't work. Post a video on how to duplicate swords!
Okay, it is working, I didn't realize you had to pick jobs with scrollable ability lists. However, it definitely isn't working with Wizard for some reason. In fact, it just subtracts 20 JP without giving you any abilities each time you try it on Wizard. Great trick though, all my guys are maxed on Items and Heal spells! :D
For a wizard, scroll so that you attempt to learn Ice but 'scroll down' to Ice 2 (hard to explain what I mean)... some abilities don't cause the glitch to give 9999 JP, you have to play with it a bit.
someone commented on this glitch not working with the mages. its does indeed work. you simply need to try it out in different ways. THIS IS A GLITCH! place the cursor on different spots until it works. it shouldnt take too long considering that there are only so many abilities. Also, it is much easier to do in the beginning of the game. lower lvl characters are easier
Wow sorry to keep posting in your thread, but Wizard is now working with other characters, I did it with Delita and it worked fine. Guess it just sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, one of those glitchy things.
I always preferred the Wizard since Summoning magic takes a lot of MP. So I guess it depends how far into the game you are. Early on you'll like Black Magic more but as you go on, you'll want to use the Summoner.
@SuttaBro If you had to ask a question online and wait for someone to answer every time that you wanted or needed to learn anything, there are a lot of things that you'd never learn from this dependency, right? A lot of questions would not be answered until too late, and many more not at all, at least partially because it has already been answered, and all that you must do is read around. Not a particularly pleasant policy, right? I was only tryying to point this out, rather than bash, flame...
YES THE GLITCH WORKS ON THE EMULATOR I HAVE EPSXE VERSION 1.7.0 AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM BUT ONLY TO THE FOLLOWING CLASSES THAT WERE LISTED IN THE DESCRIPTION
Also, If you don't select an ability, go to the top of the list and you'll notice the list moves down. Example: If you select Fire, it moves down to Blizzard. I haven't figured it out any further though...
Any time u can access the skill learning menu. There's a whole FAQ dedicated for it in GameFAQs. Not all scroll up/down movement results in the same thing, so be careful.
No, any character can do it, with the listed jobs. Ramza's *squire* class is special, being the only character with the ability to scroll down the list with that class.
i meant that while you are a master of the job, your still considered a job lvl 1 or whatever job lvl you were before you did the glitch. so if u need to be a job lvl 4 archer or something, youll have to lvl up as an archer to get it
Yep, I got the formula for Wizard now. You have to scroll down just enough so that Ice 2 is the last visible on the list. Then go one up to Ice, and proceed with the trick.
i think vampire means it wont work on people like orlandeau or agrias but it works the same way as this one! the question is am i right? and if so what version upgrade do you have?
I have a question. How do I get my level up along with the skills that I acquire? It's really great and all that I have the skills cheat now, but how can I level up faster? Just do battles?
How do you do it on the PSP version? I've been trying to select something and when it asks if it's OK to press down and square, but if you do that it doesn't scroll the abilities down even if you can scroll them down outside of that menu. So how did you do it?
it says press circle to like go in but i think it's X and when i do, do what this says the list doesn't go to the bottom i am trying to do this with the dragoon job....
So you can do this on the normal classes like dragoon, black mage, white mage and all the ones that have scroll down? What are the conditions that you need to meet to use this on the PSP?
mine worked twice. now when i try to do it it lowers my jp by a random # and i don't even learn the selected skill that was selected to learn in the first place even if i did the trick or not
This is a trick for the wizard this only works for "death" abilities that have not been learned, for example select bolt 3, pop up ok or not appears, hold square and scroll down. this will end at ability death. this is the second trick if you have learned bolt 3, Scroll up until at the bottom you only see "ice" and "ice 2". select "ice", hold square and scroll down, this will end at ability death. after that, turn back out to the status screen and go back into abilities this trick only works if "death" is greyed out and have not been learned. Have fun
Why doesn't this work for all classes though? Just curious. I tried it with squire, but it didn't work? Could you explain for me if it isn't to much trouble. Thanks in advance!
I've done this with geomancer but it's hard because all the prices are the same and u have to have 0 balance or over a 0 balance that would make it negative which it can't do so that the End you get the 0000 to appear other wise it won't work.... It's had to balance jp that way for the geo the others u just elect any option above or below that is way higher then the points options. Also for guest doing this for there chemist's ability is fine but be very careful what u get for example algus will use your rare potions in any battle. Think makes stealing way harder so just either don't make him able to use them or just avoid using items on him at all since delita can be a healers any how and it's funny to make algus other options like archer as he does use a bow in the story sadly...and makes them more viable in some missions as u can control guests by blocking there shots but not making them totally useless after some Good steals... I had them go weaponless but they either did too much damage or just get in the way. Also delita as a healer will much more damage unarmed but less damage with a staff kinda funny but always likes to cast protection spells which can be both good and bad lol... But if you pare him with a monk it's kinda usful so you can avoid those spells if you rather him heal more...the abilities you get from Lancer etc making buys any move plus 1 a waste of points at 1st if your trying to save jp for other abilities... When u can't do this like archer class. The Lancer ability to self revive is so nice for stealing and saving some Gil and time... Early on later its less useful... So this trick is honestly not as op as you think but rather saves u a lot of time...
This does not work on iOS, PSP, or VITA because those are REMAKES of the game. The JP scroll trick only works on classes with more than one screen worth of skills on a single tab, and only on the Original PSX version, or its direct port onto the PS3 via the PSN.
So this works for chemist but I can't get it to work with any of the other ones.. I am playing on the psn version on my ps3... It ways my jp but I don't even learn it..
Well I've done it and it works on any class besides wizard and oracle but the class has to have 2 screens full of skills, for instance knight and squire wont work because they have only one screen full of skills. Anyways I tried it and I feel dirty for screwing the game like that, it would save time but I'm just wondering will this corrupt your game or save in anyway?
You can play Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1 emulator, feel free to buy it since I think it's in every country by now. It doesn't work for Final Fantasy Tactics: War of The Lions which is the PSP version, only the original version which was never patched.
is it possible that this glitch has been fixed because i was unable to complete it given the fact that pressing O just sent me back and did not say "is it ok"?
Savvy, you might want to read a guide or get some suggestions. It sounds like you might not be playing this game correctly. I remember playing this back when I was a young teenager and had it beat in less than a month. This was before everyone hopped onto youtube/gamefaqs/neoseeker/etc... to find out how to beat everything. If you don't want to read guides, google "final fantasy tactics wikia". Read up on class and game mechanics. It'll help a lot! If you have any questions, just message me.
It seems like it would pretty well ruin the fun on a first playthrough, but I've played the game beginning to end half a dozen or so times and seen pretty much everything in it, and I've never done this before, and it seems like an interesting thing to try out. Sometimes using exploits can add a new flavor once you've already explored the usual ways of playing a game.
Does NOT work with a class that can NOT scroll down using square; (Squire, Knight, Archer, Theif, and so on) It also does not work with Geomancers, because all of their skills cost the same amount: 150. when you scroll down using square, you'll end up buying the skill you landed on. Darn. Also, when scrolling down, make sure you land on a GRAYED out skill, If you go to Wizard, and press Circle on Fire 1, then scroll down using Square, you'll land on Ice 1 (Which costs the same, you'll buy it!)
when you scroll down with square and learn an ability, notice your JP go down and you dont learn anything, keep doing it til your JP goes to zero and then when it does, all the abilities will be a gray, reload the screen and 9999jp
Yes, but for me being stuck constantly because my guys are not high enough lvl, and story line locking me to only one or 2 areas as an option....i need the help =/. I have been stuck by this game for 10 years. Trying to get threw the dam game.
Aperte O até aparecer yes,ai segure quadrado e coloque para baixo a tela desce, ainda segurando se o cursor descer onde fica cinza vc simplesmente confirma!!
i've found the 'formula' for oracle... scroll down till you see paralyze is at the bottom of the list.. after that.. proceed with the scroll down glitch
Does anyone know if this glitch still works with the PSN down loadable version on PS3? I tried it a couple of times and I could not get it to work but it could be just me.
@laosta99 First of all, think. You pick an ability #1 you can learn and then switch it to ability #2 which you also can learn. Second of all, it works but you need 300 JP. Pick an ability #1, use this cheat and LEARN ability #2. Then pick #1 again, use cheat to get to #2 which you just learned and that's it.
This is a great trick! It seems to work for each character once to the jobs mentioned in the description. It really helps get the game started which seem to be the hardest part ( party leveling at the start of the game). GO CHEMIST!
I love this video. I always come back to it after all these years.
Thanks again dude 👍🏻
For those having trouble with the Wizard Class (PSX only):
- Scroll the list down until you can only view spells "Fire 4" to "Ice 3".
- Now select "Bolt", press Circle, then hold Square and press Down. It should select "Ice 2"

glad you figured it out. wizard and oracle usually gave me trouble. but if you keep playing with it, youll get it
OMG never knew about this glitch holy crap! It worked perfectly on an emulator too amazing bro!! :D
Tried here... Its work.
Its easy.
Just scroll down a skill, select it. When "OK" showns, hold square, and hold the down button. When cursor land a "unlearned" skill and the "OK", landed on "YES", press circle, return, return and acess the learn job skills.

Holy hell lol I wasnt so sure this was gonna work buhh I gave it a shot and it sure as hell did ^-^ Great vid!
Wow! This really works (sometimes). It's kind of a wierd quirk, but I am definitely going to try it in my next game to get those painfully slow to get Calculator skills.

Wow! How cool! I always used Gameshark, the JP Never Goes Down code, and it always still took a long time. Thanks a bunch!
If youre still having trouble heres what worked for me. Select an ability u can learn. yeah, change the title. It should say "Master SOME jobs quickly" Only works on original PS1 version.
+lekobemcgrad y That's not true it works on PS3 also.
It's still the original PS1 version made digital, dood.
the jobs lvl, is in lvl 1 no unlock new jobs tho learn.
Sucks to be you.
I knew that trick, all too well, thanks to the walkthroughs. I even play the PSP version of it despite the slower spell animations but rather unique jobs, added gameplay, added characters, and FMVs. LOL, that was quick, I spent months leveling up my characters the usual way.

no problem glad it worked. sometimes the right starting point is on a ability that you have already learned; if thats the case, it may not work.

I love this glitch! All my little brothers are mad at me because I won't tell them how to do it. They're to lazy to look it up themselves.
YES THE GLITCH WORKS ON THE EMULATOR I HAVE EPSXE VERSION 1.7.0 AND IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM BUT ONLY TO THE FOLLOWING CLASSES THAT WERE LISTED IN THE DESCRIPTION
What is this so called Emulator? I play mine on an emulator as well, I play on android
go to formation menu and press triangle on any character and it shows the commands items, change jobs, and learn ability.

i agree...i jst tried now...really damn excited...but what u also said happened..to me..too...does this trick work for WAR OF THE LIONS??
@Iflifewasimportant its the final fantasy theme song from ff12 opening menu
No, any character can do it, with the listed jobs.
Ramza's *squire* class is special, being the only character with the ability to scroll down the list with that class.
@TheAdmiralsOwl No they fixed some 'bugs' and added some with the ipod version
i meant that while you are a master of the job, your still considered a job lvl 1 or whatever job lvl you were before you did the glitch.

it does work for the wizard and oracle. Try using a different starting point.
Why doesn't this work for all classes though? Just curious.
I tried it with squire, but it didn't work?
Could you explain for me if it isn't to much trouble. Thanks in advance!
I've run into a problem with White Mage. It just keeps giving me 60 exp, instead of turning the list gray, any advice?
Hey thank you for the glitch, it save a lot of build up time : )
we wish it was, but they removed the glitch, dont knw how they found out,. its on the description
I've done this with geomancer but it's hard because all the prices are the same and u have to have 0 balance or over a 0 balance that would make it negative which it can't do so that the End you get the 0000 to appear other wise it won't work.... good then maybe you can help me out ^_^ i cant get the damn glitch to work.. you can do it to Ramza's skills too right?
I tested it and it doesn't. You can't scroll the page with Square + down once the selection pops up anymore. Looks like SE fixed it.
This glitch only works for the PSX Final Fantasy Tactics. SquareEnix removed it from Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for PSP.
Anyways I tried it and I feel dirty for screwing the game like that, it would save time but I'm just wondering will this corrupt your game or save in anyway?
it works on any class that allows you to scroll through the abilities...unfortunately geomancer, knight, archer and a few others are excluded...
You can play Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1 emulator, feel free to buy it since I think it's in every country by now. It doesn't work for Final Fantasy Tactics: War of The Lions which is the PSP version, only the original version which was never patched.
Question here, if it says 9999 job points, and you get all the skills, will you get the reqs. for the rest of the jobs if you don't have them?
is it possible that this glitch has been fixed because i was unable to complete it given the fact that pressing O just sent me back and did not say "is it ok"?
@CAZPERsayz what other system can u play this on if not psp?
@RexGladius
Hi. I want to play this game again on PS1. Tell me this trick es true?
What about Cloud in this game? It´s true or it´s a joke?
Greetings
Wow. nice Glitch! you must have breezed through this game when you did that.
Fantastic. Glad to hear it man.
You're Shackleford approved! :D
i belive this glitch has been taken out on psp version.
the item duplication glitch has also been taken out.
@TheDarknessOfSouls yes
it lvls normally
does it work for ramza as a squire?
the description says .. but i don't know how?
and how to be a dark knight?
i just started playing via emulator XDD
What is a Dragoner? I notice that is the first job in your Class and i havent seen one.
so it doesnt work for FF tactics war of the lions? anymore? or does it still work?
Savvy, you might want to read a guide or get some suggestions.
It sounds like you might not be playing this game correctly.
I remember playing this back when I was a young teenager and had it beat in less than a month.
This was before everyone hopped onto youtube/gamefaqs/neoseeker/etc... to find out how to beat everything.
If you don't want to read guides, google "final fantasy tactics wikia". Read up on class and game mechanics. It'll help a lot!
If you have any questions, just message me.
@IXRecon289XI save before you do it, and just screw with it a little, like try it on different abilities and different spots. You'll get it
badass photo shop tax for the fun help
hey it realy works i learned all sumoner abilities!
im not sure for war of the lions but the original tactics yes. i downloaded tactics from ps store and its untouched meaning they didnt fix the glitch
actually i found out you can do it for geomancer you have to do the glitch by switching to a skill u already have
It seems like it would pretty well ruin the fun on a first playthrough, but I've played the game beginning to end half a dozen or so times and seen pretty much everything in it, and I've never done this before, and it seems like an interesting thing to try out. Sometimes using exploits can add a new flavor once you've already explored the usual ways of playing a game.
This glitch was fixed on the psp version if that's what you are trying..
@CAZPERsayz this actually does work i just did it in the original ps1 classic version, not sure about the war of the lions remake though
@dnmd82100 Sure, play the PSOne classic version instead of the War of The Lions port.
Does NOT work with a class that can NOT scroll down using square; (Squire, Knight, Archer, Theif, and so on)
It also does not work with Geomancers, because all of their skills cost the same amount: 150. when you scroll down using square, you'll end up buying the skill you landed on. Darn.
Also, when scrolling down, make sure you land on a GRAYED out skill, If you go to Wizard, and press Circle on Fire 1, then scroll down using Square, you'll land on Ice 1 (Which costs the same, you'll buy it!)
thiss only works on the psp virsion? cause i have tatics on the ps3
I can see this making onion knight more playable
The newest one, whatever version the star wars PSP bundle white PSP is. I think 3.7 something.
doesnt work for me :S my arrow only switches on yes or no not the back..
when you scroll down with square and learn an ability, notice your JP go down and you dont learn anything, keep doing it til your JP goes to zero and then when it does, all the abilities will be a gray, reload the screen and 9999jp
It only works on job classes that have enough abilities to scroll. Doesn't work with every job class
It's not working on my wizards it just keeps taking away 20 jp why?
Yes, but for me being stuck constantly because my guys are not high enough lvl, and story line locking me to only one or 2 areas as an option....i need the help =/.
I have been stuck by this game for 10 years. Trying to get threw the dam game.
Aperte O até aparecer yes,ai segure quadrado e coloque para baixo a tela desce, ainda segurando se o cursor descer onde fica cinza vc simplesmente confirma!!
i think theres something different you do for geomancers, but it is possible to do...
i've found the 'formula' for oracle... scroll down till you see paralyze is at the bottom of the list.. after that.. proceed with the scroll down glitch
Does anyone know if this glitch still works with the PSN down loadable version on PS3? I tried it a couple of times and I could not get it to work but it could be just me.
just keeping trying it in different spots. like choose a different ability to scroll from, it will work
I wonder if this glitch works in the PSP version?
Wich is better summoner or balck mage?
@laosta99 First of all, think. You pick an ability #1 you can learn and then switch it to ability #2 which you also can learn.
Second of all, it works but you need 300 JP.
Pick an ability #1, use this cheat and LEARN ability #2. Then pick #1 again, use cheat to get to #2 which you just learned and that's it.
