  • What is the best device to use when you want to buy tickets on Ticketmaster - your phone or your computer? I do a deep dive into the pros and cons of each option and in the end there is a very clear winner. Ticketmaster has been working on improving their user interface on both devices for a long time, and they have finally found a winner with the creation of the list and map views.
    Using these views, they provide a customized way of searching for tickets that appeals to different users. Some prefer being able to select the exact seats in the entire building with the click of a button, while others prefer to have options presented to them in a list, basically having their seats curated to their own unique preferences. There is no wrong way of searching for tickets as each situation is specific and unique to you. Learn all about what works for you here with this great Ticketmaster tip and explanation!

    I used the side bar on the mobile app on my phone for the first time and was able to get 4 tickets to see TWICE in the first row, first section. I always had problems trying to pick individual seats on my laptop. I'd select them and then it would tell me someone else bought them (like you mentioned). Plus, the mobile app supposedly gets you into the queue much faster - and I believe that is correct!

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +2

      I would scroll a little to see what the type of options that come up are but don’t spend too much time on it. It’ll try to do a general sorting by row so you can see some choices. If you take too long though, the list may become out of date and you may need to deselect and reselect a map section to update the list. The faster you can pick on the seats in the list to buy though, the better ☺️

    • @thumbsuprun

      I find cellular data works better, though mostly because the connection isn’t being shared like it is on WiFi (anecdotally anyway). When I have an option I always choose cellular data. Especially if you have others also trying to get tickets with you at the same time, it’s better that not everyone use the same connection type

      I’m more of a phone person as you probably can tell here, but it’s all about what you’re most comfortable with and used to. Best thing you can do is actually practice on some events that are on sale already and get familiar with it all. Can’t stress that enough 🤞🏽🎟☺️

    • @thumbsuprun

      All that button does is reset your view back to the full map view. If you zoom in on any sections, you can hit that button and it will just pull you right back out so you can see everything again. It won’t actually refresh the entire screen though. It’s more of a reset button than anything

      I mean they say it should be fine but they have all the data available to them when you sign up so it isn’t like they couldn’t use it. Also, I know they track it with the purchase process at least because they explicitly state IP addresses as something they use to determine if you’ve gone over the limit or not (along with another bunch of criteria). Maybe they won’t use it when you create accounts but I would still try to avoid making them all on the same network and around the same time too

    Thank you so much for your videos! I do have a question. I’m trying to decide if it’s better to use a laptop that is a bit old, 2014 or an iPad Pro ? Which one do you think is faster? Also, how do I search for VIP tickets?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +2

      I think the iPad might be your best bet in this situation
      As for VIP searching, you can change the filter to only display VIP tickets when you get into the ticket buying page. When you enter in your Verified Fan code, you will have a list of ticket options display for you. If you don’t see it though, you can always select the ‘type’ button, or in the filters section there should also be an option to filter only by VIP options

    From what I can tell, the list view allows you to pick the section and row, but not the seat... which can be problematic for catwalk sections based on how I’m seeing some concert seating arrangements are set.. I might use map view after all... lord pray for me.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад

      Yeah the list view isn’t perfect if you need a specific type of seating option. You could also potentially filter it by aisle seats though and that might help out! But again would need to be extra extra careful that the aisle isn’t on the wrong side 😅. If you need specific type of seating, then yes def use the map view. You can do it!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🎟

    Wat about using the TM app? Do you prefer using the app or the TM web version? Moreover, if you are on the app while waiting to get in line for pre-sale, do yo get the same screen as when you'd try getting tickets on the compute/ web version of TM? Also, if you are really in a rush wouldn't it be better to zoom in on the section and then select your seats instead of using list view?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +2

      The app and the web browser are essentially equivalent, I like the app a bit better though But it’s just a personal preference.
      Yep, it’s the same waiting room and queue process, along with the same look and feel as compared to the website on the computer.
      If you’re in a real rush, I would say picking seats would not be your best bet unless you’re selecting seats that are not the absolute best in the section you want. So if you get a section that has seats in rows 5 to 20, I’d target ones in the 12-20 range and not the first few rows since everyone else will be trying for those. More likely you can check out with seats a little bit further back than the ones everyone is competing for in the front. Make sense? 🎟

      I think for you it’s all about where you’ll feel most comfortable making your purchase. Your connection speed in theory shouldn’t affect your spot in the queue but rather just how fast everything loads. For you, it may may more sense to basically rely on your fastest internet connection option and then whatever device that ends up being should be what you select. Your options will all still be available to you on any device so determine what is your lowest stress level device and use that 😁

      thumbsuprun Okay. Did it. So I have an iPad Pro and an iPhone 11. I tried the Justin Bieber event with both devices. On my iPad, the page kept crashing and reloading. I did not experience this once on my phone. Also, everything loads faster on my phone and both devices are connected to the same home WiFi.
      But MOST importantly, the feature (you explained it at 9:25) that allows you to filter the sidebar search on your phone by clicking your preferred sections on the map does not work on the iPad.
      If you touch the map it automatically zooms in on the section to show you the seats and the sidebar results do not change. Moreover, the map loads slower and is a bit annoying to navigate on touch screen.
      So, I will be using my iPhone. 😆
      FYI, I used the website. I don’t have the app.

    Videos are very helpful! Could you show a little more how to navigate the mobile app ticketmaster from the beginning of logging in through to checking out? I am new to ticketmaster and presale is going to go so fast! Nervous because I have not seen how to navigate all the way through the process on a mobile device and ticketmaster app. The ticket limit is 6 and I need 4 tickets. Will presale let me buy 4 tickets? Everything I have seen says only buy 2, but I have to have 4 seats together. Also, I have seen somewhere that a box will pop up asking how many tickets to buy and was told to skip that step. When do I enter the number of tickets to buy? Thank you for your videos they are great!

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  Год назад

      You can always log in early in advance so you don’t need to worry about that step, just make sure you get to the event ticket page early and be sure to join the queue when prompted. Once through the queue after being patient and waiting, it’ll bring you to the event screen. First thing that will pop up will be a presale code box. Enter your presale code and hit submit. It should then unlock seats for you. On the mobile app, you should have a drop down box which lets you decide how many tickets the search will filter for you. You can select any number between 1 and 6. After that, the map will update with options and you can select from there and then hit checkout. If the tickets are available then the checkout process begins. Take your time and make sure you get through before the timer ends. If the tickets aren’t available you’ll get a warning and then you will need to try and find different seats. Good luck!

    I kind of don’t understand the difference between list and map view. can you explain that a bit further or just clarify the benefits between the two? i have a concert sale tomorrow and i’m really nervous.

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +5

      So map view is simply where you’re going to pick your individual seats. Benefits including picking the exact spot on the map giving you full control. Downsides is that it can be difficult to select a seat if there is too much traffic or the event is in high demand - you can end up with picking seats that actually aren’t available anymore, resulting in errors. Can be frustrating but just means trying again. Can also move slow with lots of traffic on the site.
      List view is where you are simply selecting different map sections from the venue and being given a list of options available in that section. So if there was a map of sections 101 to 120 in order, you could select from the map sections 103 and 104. Once you do that, you will be presented with a list of available seats that are in those sections and you can easily select an option from there. It isn’t as exact since you won’t see every single ticket option, but you will generally have better success this way if you know the event will be very busy and popular. Downsides are you won’t be able to pick the exact seat and you can still run into errors picking seats from the list if it someone else beats you to it

      I believe what others have said about Europe shows is that the current Verified Fan signup only applies to North America shows, and nothing else. Question....
    Can you shop for multiple shows from the Ticketmaster app?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад

      You cannot! It will only let you shop for one show at a time unfortunately. If you want multiple shows at once, use an additional device 😄

    Is it best to use cellular or wifi on an iPhone? Is the app or website better? I have relatively fast wifi but i think it can get a little slow sometimes. I’m super nervous for a possible upcoming BTS tour and I kinda want floor tickets!

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  2 года назад +1

      Use cellular if you can if there is a worry with your WiFi but overall shouldn’t have a major impact.
      Use the website over the app.
      Good luck!!!!

    Could I use both a laptop and a phone though? I know Ticketmaster said you should have one device with multiple tabs open for each show you’re trying for but would I be able to use multiple devices with only one tab instead of multiple tabs on one device?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +2

      The indication I’m getting is that it’s better to use one device with multiple tabs instead of two devices for each show. Though I’m conflicted by this honestly 😫 Id personally rather use two devices instead...but if Ticketmaster is saying one device and multiple tabs I think it might be the way to go.

    • @canonme1
      @canonme1 4 года назад +1

      thumbsuprun I’m conflicted too, my WiFi is fast but can be unreliable at times so I thought using data and WiFi would be my best option. Do you think I would get kicked off the queue or something like that if I used two devices or is it just a recommendation?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад

      I don’t believe you’d get kicked out honestly if you used two devices. But what I would say is make sure whatever device you trust the most to be the one you enter the waiting room first. That way if there are issues, it’ll hopefully only affect the second device and not the first. Make sense?

  • @mjuaz73

    Quick question and obviously Im not tech savvy but TM stated that different tabs can be opened for multiple cities using the 1 code.
    Question: how do u open multiple tabs with the 1 link sent via text?? Help!
    Is link necessary or can i just go to app? Or is link specific for phone browser?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад

      If you’re going to use your phone then it won’t be possible unfortunately without risk of having one or more tabs getting shut down. Your best bet will be to use a computer and then have multiple internet browser tabs open that way. Click the link in your computer twice, get two tabs, Golden!

    • @thumbsuprun

      If you want VIP seats, you can turn on the filter to only select VIP seating and the map will then only highlight the available sections where VIP seats exist. You can then play around with the sections and filters that way to only search through VIP 😄🎟

    there’s been new ‘rules’ put into place, such as only one network with one IP address, what if i go to let’s say a Starbuck’s and someone else is also buying tickets on another account with the same WIFI, will we both be kicked out?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +1

      Ticketmaster has tweeted saying public WiFi networks should be fine, so I don’t imagine you’ll be kicked out from the waiting room. However, if you have another option, I’d avoid the public WiFi situation just to not have to worry about it

  • @christinegrayson6184

    If it says error and not getting tickets do you hit a back button to get back to seats or does it take you back by itself?

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +2

      There will be an ‘ok’ button which will take you back to the seat selection page on its own. If you’re on your computer the pop up box will just disappear and return you back to the map. No need to hit back or refresh 😄🎟

    I have a problem, I practiced getting tickets on my phone but the “Switcj Map” button didn’t appear and I couldn’t change to it. But when I exit the app (not close just exit) the map view comes back?

      thumbsuprun Well i practiced on Justin bribers Rogers centre and multiple Blue Jays games at the Rogers Centre but it does have a Switch to Map button it’s just you have to wait a minute or two and I’m scared for when I’m going to get my BTS tickets as there will be a time limit as to how long you can be on the ticket page

    Hi !! This is the video that I really wanted to c !! So here are the things bugging me ,
    Am planning to use my phone, Indian internet speed the highest I get is 27mbps.. Once I get into the ticket selecting process, after choosing the tickets in case it shows some or tickets being sold out.. what should I do ?!
    Should I use the back button to come back n start the process again or should I refresh ?? I was trying this for a random event either ways it showed me couldn’t load the page or even if it took me back to the ticket selecting page it jus kept loading and loading !! What should I do ?! Pls enlighten me !!

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +1

      Hello!
      If your connection is slow, best case will be NOT to pick seats from the map individually. It will take too much processing time and will be a problem for you.
      If your event ends up being sold out...then unfortunately there’s not a lot you can do. Since many events go on sale at the same time and each have their own queue, by leaving one queue you still need to get back in line for the next queue/event you join.
      Best case is you get through early on your main event you want. If you get through and it is sold out though, you may have to consider looking at an event that is in a different city that is going on sale at the next hour. For example, if you wanted the show in NJ but it sold out, you could try again for Chicago in the next hour when that one goes on sale. Or could try for one of the California shows later when those go on sale

      thumbsuprun heyyyy thanks so much for the detailed reply !! I get it !! No am asking about the seats tht U tried to secure got sold out or showing an error , u went back to the page to try other seats right .. even I chose the listing didn’t try the map actually !! But when I went back to the ticket choosing page again it jus kept on loading and didn’t load the tickets actually, so I refreshed “the ticket choosing page” it was like completely stuck !! So u refresh the page or jus go ahead with choosing the section again and select the seats .. !? This page refreshing and map refreshing is al so confusing 🤯

    • @thumbsuprun
      @thumbsuprun  4 года назад +1

      Basically if you find that if your page just isn’t loading after a few minutes, then try to refresh everything.
      I just want to stress that you need to be patient because it will be slow and it’ll take time. Don’t feel like you need to rush ☺️

      You should be fine. Just think like how a fan would act. Sometimes we will get so excited and sign up a couple of times, or try something or click things we shouldn’t because we are too excited. It’s only really a risk when you start going overboard. You shouldn’t have anything to worry about 😄🤞🏽🎟
