7:28 Is Ticket Event Insurance Worth It?
Ticket insurance works the same way any other types of insurance work - it will help protect your purchase in case you are unable to attend the event. Whether you or a family member gets sick, you get stuck in traffic, or there's some natural disaster, you're covered! Ticket event insurance will reimburse you the cost of the tickets, along with any service charges, fees and add-ons to make sure you aren't out the event and the ticket cost as well.
However, it's not exactly a get out of jail free card for missing your event, no no no. You must meet one of the limited 'covered' reasons for missing your event. If it isn't on the exception list...you get nothing. This also includes getting sick/missing the event due to COVID. Many insurance providers do not cover reasons for missing an event due to this known issue.
How much does it cost you may ask? Well on Ticketmaster, they'll charge you $8/ticket if you purchase the insurance when buying the tickets for the event at the same time, but will charge you $20/ticket if you purchase insurance after the fact. But remember that you cannot purchase ticket insurance less than 30 days before the event takes place.
If you want to purchase ticket insurance from a secondary market, then you can do that as well, but it will generally cost you even more. Stubhub will charge a minimum of $7 or 5.75% of the ticket cost. On expensive tickets...that really adds up.
So is it even worth purchasing? Hard to say. I personally have never purchased ticket insurance before because I don't see the value. As someone who knows that you can always sell your tickets, it especially doesn't make any sense for me to buy insurance on my tickets. However, if you were travelling to an event out of state or country, I can see more value at that point just in case something goes wrong. But when the event is happening down the street...I just don't see it.

Thank you so much for this information.
Most welcome! Reach out with any questions 😁
Best of luck with your upcoming move ti the GTA. There is plenty of opportunity in your chosen field ticket broker in Toronto however as I am sure you know the competition is keen there with long term relationships are in place you will just have to learn the ropes. Leafs tickets are the kings there and start building your relationships asap. The current online structure sure makes this move much easier than trying to start fresh on the street as some of those guys can be a challenge to deal with. Look for your angle and you will do great.
As far as insurance there has been a recent push to make all ticket purchases refundable in an effort to squish the secondary market. That would surely chance the landscape.
Thanks for the words of inspiration! I have a few contacts already for Leafs and Jays tickets so I’m feeling pretty confident on making the switch over pretty smoothly, though always looking to connect with more people and just grow out the network 😃
I appreciate you so much for the time and effort you put on this video God bless you ❤you answered everything I needed to know. Also this video helps me a lot. I don’t think is necessary to buy this insurance at this point 😅thanks
Always happy to help!
Once I accidently bought ticket insurance as I was rushing to buy tickets during major sale and I was trying to get to the checkout page as quickly as possible because Ticketmaster was crashing a lot - it was for BTS concert, I will admit. I just ticked some boxes without reading too much into it. I believe it was some questions on the side of the page, it asked something like are you a resident in the UK, are you over 18 etc. Then afterwards I got a separate email with a confirmation that I purchased ticket insurance. I was really confused but it was rather easy to cancel. I emailed provided customer service email address straight away and I was refunded in couple of days.
It’s definitely a stressful time sometimes and it’s easy to click all sorts of buttons! Good to hear it’s an easy process for a refund on it at least 😊
Omg would you be so kind and send me the link to where you cancelled the insurance because I just did the same thing when buying Tomorrow by Together tickets yesterday! It was so stressful
@@Jasmine-yx2sp It was Missed Event Allianz Insurance email address. I am not sure if there are still using the same address but email was sufficient to cancel it.
@@mojanora ok thank you so much!!
So you didn’t need the insurance ?
I bought secure insurance from Frontgate for a good excuse. I work on a music tour, and i really want to go to EDCLV 2023. I have to request that weekend that its taking place. If i dont get the dates off, well i have insurance that i can get my refund. If I END up going well, at least i had a back-up if i didn't have my days off.
Thank you very much sir 🙏
Most welcome!
Thanks!

Because my mom and I were so hurry when buying the tickets, we accidentally bought the ticket insurance for an upcoming event.
I have an upcoming concert next week. My mom bought 2 tickets, one of herself and one of me. She planned to come with me to the concert, but unfortunately, she has a planned business meeting that she must attend on that day. Is this a valid reason to get my ticket refund? (I only need to refund 1 ticket) Do I need to provide some evidence for my reason? What evidence will I need to provide? Also, should I file the claim before or after the event? Thank you so much!
Hi, Does ticket insurance only one time use after if i attended the concert? And can i still cancel the ticket insurance after attending the concert and if I don't want to buy tickets for the next event? Advanced thank you if you answer my questions
How am I able to cancel the ticket insurance ? I bought tickets yesterday but did not see what I was clicking when finalizing my purchase & I got an email that I bought the insurance but I don’t want it ! How am I able to cancel it ?! Is there a link or can I call them ?
If you have ticket insurance and can’t make it to your concert how do you prove it to Ticketmaster? Like if I get sick do I need to submit a doctors note?
For something like you’re sick, you would generally need something equivalent to a doctors note for proof. For traffic/weather delays it may be a little more abstract. On the insurance claim page they have an FAQ about what you require for most claims, or you could also speak with an agent who would lay it all out for you as to what is required to make the claim
great tips, I recently bought insurance for a concert VIP ticket because well, it felt like the right thing to do lol. If I resell it for whatever reason, the VIP package elements will be rendered invalid. So, this is not a ticket I'd be comfortable selling, it's a higher risk ticket that I intend to use. I think it's also my first ever VIP tix. I'm not even flying out tho so I think u convinced me to get that refund 😂
Aha there is value in the insurance, but I think it’s really specific to the individual buying it and their own set of circumstances. In general though, I always find it hard to say yes lol. Should be a great time though if you got some VIP seats!!
@@thumbsuprun I agree, it's a hard sell and it's prob not gonna be worth it to most people. I think I'll go ahead and just cancel it. Thanks!
In which part of the page I can ask for the redoubt of my ticket if I buy it with alliance
There should be a phone number provided from the insurance provider that you can call to make a claim, otherwise on their website as well it’ll have a link/number to call so you can fill out the form
My BFF bought tickets to EDC Las Vegas we bought with insurance from AprilTravelProtection, we unfortunately can’t make it because my bff dog getting diagnosed with cancer, we have a doctor/vet note, will we able to get our money back?
I would expect you should be able to, just submit the claim and let them process it. I’m very sorry to hear about your dog 😢
Can you help me I bought 1 ticket and 3 fast passes and it charged me for 2 tickets and 12 fast passes and their saying they can’t give me a refund
Yikes! Did you purchase on a Stubhub/resale marketplace or from Ticketmaster? Most ticket sales are final so I’m not sure what can be done…do you have your confirmation of your order showing it was just 1 ticket and 3 fast passes?
Hey when you cancel your ticket insurance are you still able to go to the concert ?
Yes! The insurance can be cancelled independently from the ticket itself. If you cancel the insurance you still keep the tickets 😁
@@thumbsuprun broooooo, I appreciate your quick reply! Gtta concert coming up next Saturday n it’s been on my mind the whole time !
Ah well enjoy the show!
Does anyone know if buying insurance allows you to resell your tickets? I bought insurance for 4 tickets but i will no longer need 1 of them and my tickets don’t have the option to sell them only transfer them
You can always resell your tickets regardless of whether you purchased insurance or not. If you’d like to resell the seat and only the transfer option is enabled but not ‘sell’, it just means that you cannot sell the ticket directly on Ticketmaster. You’ll need to list and sell the ticket on a different platform such as Stubhub as a mobile delivery ticket
I am trying to do this right now, any advice I'm still a little confused how it works, do I just add them on stubhub then transfer once bought?
Are you going to shawn mendes concert? When?
No Shawn Mendes for me 😢 now if The Beach Boys were to come to town though…
I bought my ticket with insurance, with insurance when can I get my refund for my tickets? Before or after the event? Do I need to send proof with from any of the ones they have listed in their policy to receive refund for my ticket?
Depending on the reason for claiming the insurance, you should be able to claim the refund before the event takes place so long as it is a covered reason, you’d just need to contact the insurance provider and make the claim. As for proof, I would imagine they would request it (though I haven’t made a claim before so I don’t know for certain). You can contact their support number to make the claim and they will walk you through all the required documents. In general though, if you’re making an insurance claim there will generally be some checks and balances to make sure they aren’t being defrauded
What do I have to tell them to get a refund I bought insurance but I wasn’t able to make it to the concert
You’ll need to go through the policy items that would apply to you - why did you miss the concert? Either weather, travel, illness, etc or whatever covered reasons they allow you to make a claim for will work. On the policy page of Allianz ticket insurance it should lay it out exactly what you need to make the claim
Can I get a refund if my ticket is expired? Like if I don’t use it
Only if you bought insurance and have an insurable reason can you get a refund for your ticket after the ticket expires/event has passed. Otherwise, you lose your money. You can also look to sell your ticket before the event takes place to recover money if you are unable to attend the event
If the friend I I’m going to gets summoned to jury duty can I get refunded for both tickets?
it’s a good question, but I think the answer would need to be answered by the insurance provider. my initial thought would be yes, but they may have terms or language saying it needs to apply to the original purchase holder. fire them an email or call them to see what they say
Hi bought tickets for a concert even and by accident I clicked on the ticket protection if i call them will they only cancel the insurance but not your ticket right cuz I don’t want to cancel my ticket jus that ticket insurance thing I’m confused and I don’t understand what it is ?
Correct - can simply cancel the insurance and keep your tickets if you call them. Ticket insurance is just a peace of mind protection in case you get sick, travel issues, work forces you to stay late, etc
@@thumbsuprun where do we cancel is there like a link or can we call?
Does ticket insurance cover the cost if you dont go to an outside concert due to rain but the concert wasnt cancelled?
No unfortunately. Most outdoor shows specifically state they will go on rain or shine so that normally wouldn’t be an eligible/covered reason unless the weather impacted your ability to arrive
@thumbsuprun thank you for getting back to me. Glad I didn't purchase any 🙂
I bought a ticket a month ago and now i cant go to the concert bc im going to do a surgery and i will not have any money. Will i get my ticket money nack?
Also the concert is in july
So if you purchased ticket insurance, then you should be able to get a refund for the tickets through them, you’d just need to send them your support as to why you can no longer attend. If you did not purchase insurance though then the answer is generally going to be no unfortunately. You could look to sell your tickets though instead and try to recover your funds that way. Let me know if you need assistance on that front
@@thumbsuprun iv purchased ticket insurance so all i have to do now is to email them and tell that i have a health problem and i cant go to the concert can i get a refund?
You’ll need to contact the insurance provider, not Ticketmaster to initiate the insurance claim. You should have a email from Allianz insurance with details on how to begin a claim, otherwise you can simply google Allianz ticket insurance and follow their claim submission info there
@@thumbsuprun thanks
I bought tickets to resell but they were extremely expensive. I want to somehow cover myself in case nobody buys them, what do you suggest?
There isn’t a great way of doing that unfortunately - insurance is there to cover you in case you cannot attend the event, and you need to go through their policy to confirm if you would even have a legitimate claim or not. However, if your intent is to resell the tickets, insurance really isn’t the solution in this case. Resale of tickets is a highly risky venture so being unable to sell the tickets is simply part of the risk you take on
How bout stop scalping?
I did same thing lol how u deal with it can u share it i need to take some step too asap
hi! i bought a concert tickets a couple weeks ago for march 2022 and didn’t buy insurance for it. let’s say the delta variant cancels the show (hopefully not) will i end up getting a refund? just want to be sure :)
Hello! If the event gets cancelled you’ll get a refund, no insurance required 😁 if the event gets postponed, you’ll also get an option to keep the tickets for the future date or get a refund
@@thumbsuprun okay great! thank you soooooooo much :)
anytime! Let me know if you get any other questions
There must be a level protection when purchased via visa or mastercard?
Your credit card generally won’t include ticket protection equivalent to what you’re purchasing from Ticketmaster etc, but your card will potentially have a form of travel insurance that you could use for some basic protection. However, you’d need to really understand what is and is not covered and the situations in which it would apply. If you simply cannot attend the event because of sickness, I do not know if your credit card will offer a form of relief in that situation
How do they know whether tickets are used or not?
You can’t check from Ticketmaster unfortunately, you’d have to get to the event and attempt to scan the seats. When they are scanned, it would basically deny access to you if they have already been scanned in. Some team accounts allow you to check if a ticket has been scanned in or not in the older interface, I haven’t seen anything to indicate if a ticket has been scanned or not with their newer updated version though
@@thumbsuprun thank you yeah because the insurance carrier said claim can be filed after event and that didn’t make sense to me lol
Ooh fair lol. Sometimes you can also request a scan report from the venue and they will issue you a document saying when and where the barcodes for the ticket were scanned at the venue. If you need that let me know and I can walk you through it, otherwise it’s overkill haha
What if you could not attend because of a friend having a training for work
Usuallly work is one of the covered reasons but you’d need to confirm the specifics with the insurance provider to know if they will accept or not since it was your friend and not you who had the work engagement
you did NOT speak about the general policies
Hi! I bought tickets for a show but two people had to drop out due to illness and not able to travel can I refund those two tickets or am I out of luck?
If you had ticket insurance you should be able to, otherwise you can try to request one but you likely will not have any luck if the event is in North America since most terms are all sales final. You could look to try and sell the tickets yourself but again no guarantee you’ll be able to recover all your funds either that way
@@thumbsuprun ahh thank you! Do you have a video guide for how to contact the insurance thingie? Cause I did pay for that gotta try at least 🙏
No video as of now, but check this Ticketmaster page out for more info!

@@thumbsuprun thank you!
I was getting a ticket and clicked this button since I was in a rush. I just wanted to ask is this a one time purchase? Like I don’t have to make any other payments right? If it’s just a one time thing then I won’t ask for a refund since the perks of it look good
Correct, one time payment. If you want you can always request a refund on the insurance, but if you want to keep it then yes nothing else to it 😁
What about work? Is that a good excuse?
I don’t recall it being on the list so I can’t say for sure. You could always call the insurance provider to confirm if it’s a covered reason though! My best guess would be no, but then again sometimes they may surprise us
Was work a covered reason for u? I'm in the same boat as well
Still undecided, should I get insurance or not with Ticketmaster? Urghhh Help meeee pleaseeee
Well my general philosophy on ticket insurance is that there’s no point if you’re looking to resell the tickets. Since you’re selling them off, it adds no protection or value to you, plain and simple.
As an event goer, it’s a bit different. If you’re traveling from out of town, it may be a consideration for you since you’d like to be protected in case you need to cancel or there are delays for whatever reason. It really comes down to what are you trying to protect yourself from. My stance is normally no insurance for tickets unless you need to fly across the country for an event, and even then, I generally find it to add minimal to no value (for me). Everyone is different though
@@thumbsuprun this help me alot im gonna cancel my insurance tho!!! Haha because the shawn mendes concert is one bus away from my house
Haha super convenient! 🤣 yeah I generally tell people to avoid insurance unless they are traveling to the event as otherwise you can always just sell the ticket pretty easily and that requires a lot fewer hoops to jump through
@@thumbsuprun yes i understand tho
Is the insurance a one time fee?
Yes, one time cost
@@thumbsuprun thank you
I never buy insurance
🙌🏽🙌🏽
2 minutes into the video and it hasn’t started yet come on man don’t just do it for the ad revenue have some dignity. (Because I like this video and was very helpful but speed it up a bit you don’t need to explain 4 times? That the video is about ticket insurance we’re not dumb )
Thanks for the feedback! Will try to keep it more succinct in the future
@@thumbsuprun The fact that you have a recap typed up, as well as a guide informing us where to jump around based off of the specific info that we're looking for is more than sufficient. Some people just need to learn how to be a bit more patient/resourceful.
Whatever you do avoid Allianz Insurance like it's the plague. You been warned.
Also not a fan of the insurance option, though there are some (limited) use cases where it could be useful
Why is that?
Insurance is good in the cases where you need to travel for the event. When flying to a city and you land the same day as the event, there’s a potential risk of your flight getting delayed or you get sick. When it’s a local event though, generally you can easily sell your ticket if you cannot attend anymore. There are quite a few restrictions with event insurance in general as well so it makes it difficult at times to claim
Dang my sibling got insurance on both tickets from Allianz, since they got better seats they no longer needs those set of tickets with the insurance, would they still be refundable?
Generally this wouldn’t be a covered reason, but you can still attempt and see what they can do, or you can try and use that insurance again another time by moving it to your new tickets (should be able to move the ticket insurance policy very easily)
Yeah ticket insurance it's bs
