The song "Journey From Mariabronn" appeared on the first, self-titled Kansas album in 1974. It is based on the novel "Narcissus and Goldmund" by Hermann Hesse, who included many autobiographic references to his early life in Maulbronn Abbey, aptly renamed as "Mariabronn" in his novel.
Love Kansas. One of the best prog bands, great musicians. Terrific cover guys!

good goin boys. This was the first album I ever bought with my own money when I was 13 yrs. old {1978). I was so happy to see you all continuing the tradition of one of the greatest BANDS that ever existed. I saw them about 5 years ago out here in Vegas, where I live: and I'd say you"re as tight as they ever could be. If you keep going and you decided to start touring you'll have a huge following and great success. Thanks for understanding the meaning of the words and the power of the music. Goes to show you it"s timeless.

Neal...you guys did a helluva job on this one! Good luck with SFA, I will be looking forward to hearing it. I am a member of EMP (EMPProject here on youtube) and we have plans to do SFA as well as sort of a 4th of July celebration thingie. We have been really good at doing things for Christmas and so we're going to try for something in the mid-year range this year...LOL. Keep Rawkin, Bro...I LOVE your Rick!

Thanks, miki. I don't think it's heavy metal, nor is it a ballad. But you are right, Kansas has been a main inspiration for Dream Theater.

Once again it was awesome.. being a musician I normally speak my mind , in a constructive way.. but the fact that a bunch of young players are paying tribute to the great Kansas band , and doing a tremendous job , I have nothing bad to say at all .. some of you look young enough to be a grandson of a Kansas member.. I would love a chance to add a part with you guys.. if there's ever an opening, please let us know.. I must add , how did y'all get Jon Andersen to sing this one.. lol

No I am not aware. Sorry for my ignorants. I think the gentleman who is singing has a great voice. He has a very bright sound. It is just personal taste of wanting it darkier at the moment . I may want my coffee with cream tomorrow instead of black . He dos hit the lower notes very well to. His vioce reminds me of the lead singer of YES. Can`t wait to here the second cover. Thanks for the info. And I did not have hold the H key so long . That was rude.

Wow vocal would be great yes Singer drummer should have stayed home playing Kansas an endeavor should only be attempted by dedicated few who truly understand there arangments

Thnx again Jeff. While this was our 1st attempt and a difficult one at that, we wanted to jump into this with both feet. Again you can see that the (C.R.O.P.) Chris Rickert Opinion Police was again trying to save the world by putting in his 2 cents worth. Everyone's main complaint has been the vocals...I wonder how many realize, English is a 2nd language for him, he was singing Steve Walsh.... a challenge not many would attempt. The video was an experiment. We did what we could with what we had. We learned a lot. But Chris Rickert telling everyone their opinion is wrong because he says so...that bothers me the most.

Oh boy…... I can't tell you how disappointed I was to find out that there are more than one of these "virtual " Kansas covers. The vocals are so bad, it's almost on listenable. The max is also really really bad; who in the world mastered this? It's really a shame, because these guys are pretty good musicians. Like I said in my comment on Icarus, these guys are all good musicians doing a very, very bad thing. What a shame! And a complete waste of time…
This was our first try.... I was not part of the group then... but the guys were giving it they best they had... No it's not perfect... but is anyone perfect?
