This fight alone makes the fight better than H20. Laurie is his equal here. Outsmarting, going toe to toe, and less cliche than in H20. H20 is also great don't get me wrong, I love it, but this is the better one imo.
I'm going to politely disagree. H20 was their ultimate battle, she even had a chance to escape with everyone else, but turned around and called him out. Then used multiple tactics to beat him. Also, the ending was amazing-even after everyone thought he was dead she went back in for more so they could battle it out and end it once and for all. The ending was emotional and heartbreaking. I just thought that was a really awesome battle between the two of them so I have to disagree, but I'm sure we can agree both of these endings are better than the 2nd movie's ending.
That she was able to not only disappear like that but somehow re-enter the house without being noticed and sneak up on him was incredible. She's spent her entire adult life waiting to go "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me" and she's exactly as good at it as she hoped she might be. I honestly fully expected her to just somehow be behind him when he looked back, because why *wouldn't* she.
At this moment Michael realized that Laurie had a daughter and grand daughter as the grand daughter cried for help .... it was such a badass moment ... idk if anybody else caught that or felt that when they first watched it
it's genuinely unsettling how aware michael is, he might be perceived as this stupid silent guy who just kills anything in his path because he's a psycho, but he is very aware of everything and knows what he wants
I agree. His body language is almost always so simple. Calm and collected but almost always predictable, until he ends up doing things to throw you off like calculated attacks, ambushes, etc. When you see him walking towards you in a fairly normal looking way (excluding the fact that he’s holding a knife of course), it subverts your expectations and makes you think of him as some mindless, almost stupid guy who kills anyone in his path. But in reality he’s extremely careful and calculated with the way he hunts. Once he realized Laurie had a gun, he searched the house for the perfect place that would allow him to get the jump on her and close the distance. He even set up a distraction as well Edit: If I remember correctly, he also managed to create a fake driver’s license when he escaped. For someone who’s hardly been in the outside world, he really knows a lot about it and picks up on things extremely quickly
This was probably my favorite sequence in the movie, and perhaps the best final showdown in a horror movie ever. It never felt one sided. At no point do you feel like one is completely destroying the other, or that you know the outcome. The back and forth is amazing. Michael chokes her, she shoots his hand. Laurie locks room after room to corner him, he hides in the one room with all her mannequins to throw her off. She uses a shotgun and a flashlight, he pounces at her and closes the distance. He takes away her advantage with a gun, she drives her fingers into his eyes. Laurie pulls out a knife, he grabs her arm, stabs her with the knife, and throws her off the roof. Just as that happens, Allyson arrives, and just when you think its starting to tip heavily into Michaels favor, he looks back, and Laurie is gone. Just absolutely perfect.
Yeah it’s pretty cool. You can also hear him do a much louder grunt when Laurie shoots his fingers off. I like that he’s so strong but not to the point of invincibility
