I don't think I was even (consciously) aware of the Gloria Jones version, it's great. Totally different spin off the other two... or, rather, the other two had a much darker take. Cheers for reminding us all!

I like all 3 versions. I favor the Soft Cell version more because that is what I grew up listening to. All 3 have different feel so there is room for all of them. I love the fact you reacted to all the versions. I hope you continue to do that. It is fun to hear many interpretations on one song.
Gloria's original was a northern soul smash in the early seventies first played by d.j Richard Searling who found it lying on a warehouse floor in the states and brought it back here.He played it first at a club in Bolton called va van and later the legendary Wigan Casino.Marc Almond heard it a few years later and covered it as soft cell. The song would never have seen the light of day were it not for the northern soul scene. The covers mean very little to me. Thanks for doing the reaction.
