To me saying that the "80's doesn't really have a sound" is like saying that pizza doesn't really have a taste, or that steampunk isn't really a look. It doesn't compute. Yeah, just like when the impressionists went a little crazy with all the new vibrant pigments and colors in their paints, the 80's went a little crazy with the synths. But sometimes you can't help but go overboard when something's new and shiny. Although it wasn't that new (the theme to Doctor Who was made with synthesizers, in 1964), but it was finally something you could buy at the store at a cost that was affordable in the 80's, verses you had to make your own machine that filled up a room and cost as much as a car.
Well buckaroo I've heard artists sample songs from the 50s 60s and 70s as well sometimes it's out of laziness sometimes it's because the artist really likes the song being sampled

80's is the best decade of music. We had it all. Disco, pop, alternative, synth, dance, rap, hip-hop, rock, glam, heavy metal and the rise of country music. Beat that!
Sorry but I beg to differ. The 80’s was full of one hit wonders, and pretenders that couldn’t have created a song without a synthesizer. Don’t misunderstand, there were many good songs, but no great bands! Unlike the 60’s and 70’s which had great bands, some still making music 50, 60 years later. The beats of the eighties are very disco, great dance music, but not so good for an NYC to LA road trip!!
@@kevinmcconnell9426 I could make the case for some 80's bands still rocking it today and some good road trip tunes as I'm sure you can for some of your preferred artists.
I love the 80s music especially the synths and the beats of New Wave. And the popularity of that type music never seems to go away, just gains new generations of fans.
Other 80’s songs you might like Amber “The Metro” by Berlin “I Melt With You” by Modern English “The Promise” by When In Rome Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS and “Blister In The Sun” by The Violent Femmes.
As someone who grew up in the 80s I learn stuff from you guys that I didn't know. I didn't know Rhianna sampled this song, for instance. So we're both connecting to eras that aren't our own.
Suggestions: Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’ Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’ Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’ Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father,’ and last but not least ... Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.’
Great list! I'd go with Kool and the Gang's Misled over Celebration. But that's just me. Oh, and I would add Billy Ocean's Loverboy (Not the video though, it's way too weird.).
Soft Cell originated from Leeds, England, where I live. They performed at 'the warehouse' (a night club) in Leeds, in the 70's. We all prayed that 'tainted love' would reach number 1 in the charts, which it did. Great reaction!!
I used to go raving at the warehouse in leeds during the 90s. Wasn't it speed queens back then? We also went to the glass house too. Both was great mixed clubs. We had some great times in Leeds back then. We'd travel from Doncaster every weekend. 👍
This is one of my all time favorite songs! And it’s a cover song. The original is by Gloria Jones from 1964. I recommend that version for a Female Friday! Side note: the original was a flop but Gloria had a great “taking you to church” vibe in her voice. She was also the girlfriend of late T-Rex singer, Marc Bolan, and the mother of his child, Rolan Bolan.
Marilyn Manson also did a cover of this song. Of course his version is a bit harder. Another great one hit wonder from the 80s that is totally 80s sound would be the song “Voices Carry”.(can’t remember who sings it but it’s a get song). To correct my statement when I was talking about one hit wonder was talking about song “Voices Carry” not Soft Cell.
The original song was sung by Gloria Jones and the Champions. Gloria Jones was better known for being Marc Bolan (of T.Rex's) girlfriend, and a T.Rex backup singer. There was also an earlier version of the Soft Cell song from the early 80s--this is a later remix.
Marc Almond is such an underated singer. Tears Run Rings. Say Hello, Wave Goodbye. Also try Bronski Beat: Smalltown Boy:Jimmy Summerville is a falsetto lovers dream come true.
Rob Squad Reactions. What a great couple you are. A perfect match. Your fun and enthusiasm for music is genuine, and shines through. Love from England UK.
“Tainted Love" is a song composed by Ed Cobb, formerly of American group the Four Preps, which was originally recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964. Just to let you know Soft Cell covered it.
For those who really love this song and can't get enough of it check out the extended dance mix if you haven't already heard it. it adds about 4 more minutes of dance beat goodness.
Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” (1981) is a cover of a much different version by Gloria Jones. Soft Cell changed the key and the tempo, and they used synthesizers. Music was changing in the early ’80s, away from album-oriented rock and toward synth pop. Groups became known not for albums, but for single hits with a fun new sound, like this one. I recommend Berlin “The Metro,” The Cure “The Upstairs Room,” Talk Talk “Talk Talk,” and Missing Persons “Destination Unknown (TopPopVideo).”
So this song is actually a cover of the 60s Motown original by Gloria Jones--"The Queen of Northern Soul." Soft Cell were from Northern England and they did a couple songs that were nods to "Northern Soul" even though that was not their time or style of music. As part of that love of Motown they did an awesome cover of The Supremes' "Where Did Our Love Go?" which this song goes right into on the album and is a great double feature. Northern Soul was a style that developed in Northern England based on Motown one hit wonders, B side songs and obscure songs that they made their own. Gloria Jones became star in Norther England. They had and still have their own awesome dance style that looks like a cross between breakdancing, voguing and mod moves. Soft Cell uses footage from some of these dance offs in their vids. Very fun scene; cool, humble and unique. Try their cover of "Tainted Love."
The original in 1964 by Gloria Jones is a representative of a movement of rare soul music from America in 1960s and 1970s that we now call Northern soul in clubs in Northern England, went underground after that but had a come back recently because of Facebook and RUclips as I know about it at 34.
And a little further down the road (about the same time as Abba) Ace of Base was very popular with The Sign, Don’t Turn Around, and All That She Wants.
Yep... ruclips.net/video/OJKe2j9Wjh4/видео.html EDIT: Actually this link about the story of the song is better... ruclips.net/video/ViWAVwY7LtU/видео.html
More famous than the Original. Many People think this is the Original. One of the best Coverversions ever 👍 I love the Voice of Marc Almond, also in many other Songs. I love the Version of Tainted Love in the extended Version with "Where did our Live go" from the Supremes 🙂
Love it. We spent a lot of time on the dance floor bopping around to this tune. But you need to listen to the long version with "Where Did Our Love Go?"
That's why those of us that were teens in the 80s look at some of younger one's like really?! We've heard this before. And this version is a remake too!
This song came out when I was in Grade 7 in Toronto. I can tell you, it was a big deal. Instant cult jam status. You ought to listen to the extended version which has a long switch to "Baby, where did our love go?" by The Supremes. So they referenced a song in the original, too. It's all part of that chain of musical gifts. Maybe listen to the extended version and The Supremes sometime? :) Their other banger is "Sex Dwarf", kind of a demented disco electro track.
One of my fave bands from the 80’s !!! They are doing a 40th anniversary tour and then Marc Almond (the singer) is doing a tour for his solo album The Stars We Are which is 30 years old …. You have to listen to his duet with Gene Pitney of Somethings Gotten Hold Of My Heart …. Stunning !
OMG, this takes me back. One of the most quintessential 80s songs, and one of the first songs you think of when you hear the term "one-hit wonder". Marc Almond had such a great voice, and whenever I hear this song I feel like I'm back in middle school again! I can't really recommend any more of their songs (because I don't remember any), but if you want some more recommendations for late 70s/early 80s synthpop, please do "Cars" by Gary Numan, "I Ran (So Far Away)" by Flock of Seagulls, and "Just Can't Get Enough" by Depeche Mode. (You need to do a Depeche Mode song at some point, but this is a great one to start with because it was their very first huge hit.)
@@melprophet1936 Yes! And I just realized I should have included The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" (the first EVER video played on MTV when it debuted in 1981!).
You have to do "Always Something There to Remind Me"...at least as big a hit as this. At the time, I was coming out of growing up on 50s/60s/70s rock - being a rock guitar player immersed in those great bands, I did NOT appreciate all the synths of the 80s...lol.
I was out to dinner this summer at a very nice place in Wales. We were sitting next to another couple and got chatting. He mentioned that he was in the music business playing keyboards and working in production and then told me his band was called Soft Cell! It was David Ball, the "other one" in the duo. Quite an experience to chat with them although we spoke mostly about food and restaurants as they clearly had a passion for fine dining.
The song is on the "Coneheads" soundtrack. A science-fiction comedy film starring Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin cast members of SNL. The film is based on their characters, aliens who are stranded on Earth.
@@Gothguy1961 Yes. Keep Feeling Fascination, Human, and Love is all that Matters were hits in the U.S. Practically all their singles were hits in the UK. Their album tracks off of Dare and Hysteria are good too.
Guys- it’s not the complete song- 😩. This happens EVERY time- the full title is “Tainted love/where did our love go.” Y’all missed SOOO much goodness- PLEASE re-do it with the entire song- same thing if you do “Need you tonight/MEDIATE.” By INXS- Everyone always stops... right as the drums start to kick in the beginning of “mediate.” Anyway- I love these songs so much- however sadly get upset when I see someone has done them- Cause I KNOW the requester/Patreon member didn’t explain and write the title correctly and fully when paying.. 😣 Please do the full song- you’ll love the instrumentation! 👍✌️
Agreed. Ditto. I haven't this music in a while and felt cheated out of where did our love go. Guess this is what one gets when someone does not have the album, and they choose to play the music. Might as well throw in The Supremes too.
INXS - never tear us apart. Huchence is an amazing singer. Acapela on the Jools Holland Show, he sang beautifully. Doubt robsquad will pick it but for the subs, it's worth a listen just to hear the song stripped down.
If you haven't seen it already you need to watch Adam Sandlers "The Wedding Singer" it is based in the 80's and all the songs you are talking about in this video are covered in this movie, and a special guest appearance from an 80's rock Icon.
I recommend Simple Minds "Promised You A Miracle", Joe Jackson "Stepping Out" The Clash 'Rock The Casbah" Romeo Void "Never Say Never" All from 1982, same as Tainted Love!
That was a song from skating rink days. It made me remember another song we loved roller skating to. I havnt ran aross a reaction to it yet. If you havnt reacted to "DIRTY LAUNDRY" by Don Henley you just gotta do it. Don Henley was the drummer for the Eagles until they broke up. Then he had a solo career
Never get tired of this song 😅 Yeah, I like the longer version with the "baby, baby, where did our love go..." even better. React to more Duran Duran please? Ordinary World, Come Undone, Notorious, Skin Trade, Pressure Off (with Nile Rodgers)...and they just released "Tonight United" today.
The main lyrics are 'fed up' , but for me, the way the background singing sound nauseous is hysterical.... oooohh...oaooh... hahah..... classic new-wave melodrama!
Soft cell one hit wonder!!!! Oh nooooo you got that so very wrong - bedsitter, say hello wave goodbye, torch, soul inside, down in the subway etc etc Marc went on to form the Mambas and then solo stuff and has recently issued a new soft cell album. Marc has released over 30 albums so far in his career - one hit wonder my a**
Another song from 1981 you should check our is "Don't You Want Me" is a single by British synthpop group the Human League It was released on 27 November 1981. It was extremely popular in the dance clubs. In a club where I worked the DJ dropped the volume on the dance floor and it sounded like everyone on the dance floor was singing the lyrics.
Even if this is an 80's song it was in the NEW WAVE genre. You will start to hear and even SEE the difference between Rock and New Wave. If you listen to Flock of Seagulls who sing "I Ran", The Human League who sings "Don't You Want Me", Tears For Fears who sing "Everybody Wants To Rule The World", Thompson Twins sing "Hold Me Now", and Devo who sings "Whip It"...they are so completely different from Ozzy, Motley Crue, Queen, and The Eagles. New Wave...it's a new thing and a good thing!! You guys are the Bomb Diggity!!
Marc Almond took the original Gloria Jones' Motown 'Tainted Love' and turned it into an iconic 80's sound. Gloria Jones' original was played in the underground Northern Soul scene in the 70's in the North of England and Marc, also coming from the North would've definitely heard this many times as he was and still is a huge fan of Northern soul. In fact Marc is featured in a 2014 documentary about the Northern soul scene, (Living for the Weekend) stating just that. Huge back history to the Northern Soul scene in the 70's, so briefly:- In the US before Motown became the huge label it became there were many black artists that never made the cut for the sound Motown needed for the mainstream audience so their recordings got lost or dumped into old record shops. Meanwhile back in the UK, Motown was trickling through into UK dance clubs and it went down a storm both in the South and North. The South of UK eventually progressed to Funk and Disco but the North wanted more Soul.(One DJ said that he tried to introduce Funk and Disco into the clubs in the North but they just threw bottles at him lol) Having dried up all the Motown sounds, DJ'S would fly to Detroit and scour the shops looking for that sound the North wanted. They would come back with crates of records from unknown artists that Motown had rejected and thrown out before they left Detroit for LA and these records kept the Northern Soul scene in the UK alive for many more years. Some of the unknown artists heard that their records were being played in UK and were shocked but obviously over the moon too and flew over to make guest appearances in the All-Nighters in the North. It's lovely to know that their dream of becoming a known artist came true, maybe not where they were expecting it to, but a dream come true all the same.
Marc also did a great Version of "Love to love you" Donna Summer together with Jimmy Sommerville from Bronski Beat. Vut please listen to the extended version. By the way: you must hear "Smaltown Boy" from Bronski Beat. If you want to hear a great falsetto. I think the singer with the highest voice ever in pop.
Marc Almond's voice lends itself well to the torch song genre. The House is Haunted, Melancholy Rose, Say Hello Wave Goodbye, Ruby Red, Kitchen Sink Drama, Memorabilia, Traumas, Bedsitter, Stories of Johnny, and his duet with Jimmy Sommerville, of the Communards cover of Donna Summers I Feel Love all make my short list of faves. I feel like his catalog is a large part of the soundtrack of my life. He's done some great covers over the years, and released a new album during the pandemic!
That was when the drugs kicked in, hahaha. This version of Tainted Love is a later revisit by the artist FYI, the original was a little slower with a simpler production.
Hi, I discovered your channel a couple of days ago. Great reactions guys, I love the appreciation you show for all genres and generations of music. It would be great if you could react to Queen at live aid, the full aet is 20 minutes so it may be a little long but maybe pick one of the songs from it... I'm sure you will love it and Freddie stole the show. Keep up the great work.
Soft Cell and Marc Almond are amazing. This is one of my favorites, but they can be so different. Try Say Hello, Wave Goodbye since you like stories, especially the live version with Imelda May. Or Numbers, Frustration, Where the Heart Is, or Monoculture.
Great tune that sounds just like the new wave band called Squeeze! Squeeze has several great tunes like Black Cofee In Bed, Pulling Mussels,Another Nail In My Heart,And Up The Junction.
Oh gosh, those memories light the corners of my mind hearing this song. The extended version had "Baby, Where Did Our Love Go?" as a medley with "Tainted Love" and the amount of time we spent on the dance floor because of it......
I definitely remember going to teenage discos and hearing this. I also think you should listeng to Godley and Creme - 'Under your thumb' - first time I remember a song giving me chills, and also 'Cry' which has a great video.
I've been digging this channel for a while. I'd love to see you two react to "The Warning". It's a trio of Mexican sisters. They are amazing. Dany is lead guitar at 21 years old. Pau is on drums at 19 years old. Ale is the bassist at 16 years old. They have been amazing since they were little girls and have evolved into greatness. As a matter of fact, start with the song "Evolve" and work your way backwards into their childhood. You will be shook by their vibe.
There was an extended version that had a lot of instrumental in the middle of this song by soft Cell. As with Rick Ashley a British artist from the 80s.There was an earlier version of this song by black soul singer Gloria Jones, wife of Marc Bolan from T-rex. Her version was what we call in the UK a Northern soul classic. This type of music played in the northern city in England had its own style and music and dance. People would go to all Northern Soul all nighters to dance from 12am till 7am or 8am in the morning . Sometimes there be an Northern Soul all dayer. This type eventually died out in the late 70s. However there are many people hits from that era which was unknow or rear music imported from the USA, but not so well know in the states , often B side records that became Northern Soul hits and dance music.
This is one of many early 80$ songs that were kind of techno pop synthesizer type songs that since their initial release have never ceased to be played on the radio. Many of them were one hit wonders but were huge and still are to this day.
I used to go to the Warehouse club in Leeds, Yorkshire, early 80's. Marc Almond, the Soft Cell singer, was the cloakroom attendant. The club gave him the chance to sing on stage.
I was 19 when I heard this for the 1st time. A bunch of us were sitting on the deck of my 1st ship in the navy as we pulled into Sydney Harbor, and this came on the radio. Soft Cell was big in Australia at the time, but hadn't made it in the states yet.
This song came back around again in the 90s. It kinda never goes away. This goes really well with the Naked Eyes version of "Always Something There To Remind Me".
Oh, this is the the re-recorded version Marc Almond did a while back. Still a classic song! Speaking of 80's songs, I'd like to see what you think of Erasure "A Little Respect". It was pretty big back then.
I thought it didn't sound right. There's a tinniness to the synthesizer and drum machine that the original didn't have. I couldn't tell if it was a remake or they sped up the track.
@@katya2032 yeah, I actually went to download this song just a few months ago and there was a few different versions. I guess Marc Almond went and re-recorded it on his own. It's alright but not like the original. Today's sound is really sanitized, I don't care for any remasters. Besides, it's lacking the spirit the original had (:

I was one of the lucky ones. Between 1980 and 1990 was my teenage years. From 10-20 years old. Almost every pop, rap, country, rock song after 1990 was influenced by the songs of the 80's. Even heavy metal of today was influenced by heavy metal/hair bands of the 1980's. The 1980's is the most influential decade for music. Many of the modern genres of music started in the 1980's.
@@geneholland1188 Not the original but this one that came out in the 80's had massive air play. It was unique sounding with the keyboards, a total hook.

Also this isn't The "Original" Version. The "Original" Version was done by a lady named Gloria Jones who epitomized Northern Soul which was The "Black" Section of Philadelphia, PA., Northern Soul got it's start in the 1960's but due to other musical genres like Motown, The British Invasion The California Sound, Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound not to mention The Original Girl Group Phenomenon, it was overlooked. However in The UK it has along with Motown, The Philly Soul Sould with Kenny Gamble/Leon Huff as producers and songwriters cult status. The 70s in the UK was also quite unique with Glam Rock, Punk, New Wave, Ska & Soul … I’m showing my age 🤣🤣
This was mine and the wife's first dance at our wedding 😁 The mums were not amused🤣 This whole album was a blast the lyrics belied the poppy tunes!
Bahaha! Excellent! As an aside it would actually make a great foxtrot... 😂
I would love for them to do
INXS "Never tear us apart".Such
A Beautiful Song 💞
Haha or "Sex (I'm A)" by Berlin! Although I'd be happy with "No More Words"
Missing Persons "Walking In LA" or "Words" also fitting for Female Friday.
Omg. The promise! My absolute favorite 80s song ❤️
And I’ve been requesting “Never tear us apart” by INXS for MONTHS!
Never tear us apart would tick all the boxes
Back in the day we always listened to this with the next song, Where Did Our Love Go, it was a fantastic medley.
Even now I was Iike wait, it’s not the extended version. Without the transition into “Where Did Our Love Go” it somehow feels incomplete lol
Yes! I just had to go back and find out what the heck where's the rest of the song??? Lol
As someone who grew up in the 80s I learn stuff from you guys that I didn't know. I didn't know Rhianna sampled this song, for instance. So we're both connecting to eras that aren't our own.
Rihanna sampled this song on S.O.S. Which was a massive success all over the world.
This about as iconic an 80s song possible, along Modern English’s “I Melt With You”.
Valley Girl soundtrack was a great album.
Suggestions:
Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’
Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’
Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’
Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father,’
and last but not least ...
Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.’
Great list! I'd go with Kool and the Gang's Misled over Celebration. But that's just me. Oh, and I would add Billy Ocean's Loverboy (Not the video though, it's way too weird.).
What a great list!! I loved Christopher Cross and Celebration was one of my favorite songs.
@@roberthughes2402 Thank you! I'm trying my hardest to get them to pushed up their list.
@@HeatherDeLaTorre Thank you! I'm trying my hardest to get them to pushed up their list.
Soft Cell was in the era around 1981-82. They were at the beginning of New Wave music, right up there with Devo and the B-52’s.
It was part of the NuWave Techno phase of the 80’s. Being a teen in the 80’s, IMO, this is one of the best songs to come out of that genre.
this song was played nightly in so many dance bars! the dance floor filled up when Tainted Love started!
Ha, I also remember roller-skating to this song!
Voices Carry by 'Til Tuesday would be a great one for Female Friday.
Great version
How do you define one hit wonder? Clearly not in the sense that everyone else understands it.
Soft Cell weren't one hit wonders, they had several records that charted, at least here in the UK.
Til Tuesday did Voices Carry. One of my faves.
The original song was sung by Gloria Jones and the Champions. Gloria Jones was better known for being Marc Bolan (of T.Rex's) girlfriend, and a T.Rex backup singer. There was also an earlier version of the Soft Cell song from the early 80s--this is a later remix.
Gloria Jones version: a Northern Soul staple.
Wasn't Gloria Jones Marc Bolan's wife (from T Rex)?
For those who really love this song and can't get enough of it check out the extended dance mix if you haven't already heard it. it adds about 4 more minutes of dance beat goodness.
I love the extended version too
@@TheD1rrty It's really great!
They should check out the original as well by Gloria Jones. I like all versions
Try their cover of "Tainted Love."
good music taste on the wall
The original in 1964 by Gloria Jones is a representative of a movement of rare soul music from America in 1960s and 1970s that we now call Northern soul in clubs in Northern England, went underground after that but had a come back recently because of Facebook and RUclips as I know about it at 34.
When i was 18 years of age I used to go to Northern soul all nighters
80’s = dance music. This is definitely one of those typical 80’s songs. So fun. “Don’t you want me “by the human league is another one of those
This song is from 1964 sung by Gloria Jones who changed her name to Gloria Gaynor
And a little further down the road (about the same time as Abba) Ace of Base was very popular with The Sign, Don’t Turn Around, and All That She Wants.
Some of the purest synthpop you could score back in '81. This song is a cover of a 1964 song by Gloria Jones.
Ed Cobb was the writer and Gloria was the first to record it. It's been covered over 100 times. My favorite covers are this one and Marilyn Manson's.
Yep... ruclips.net/video/OJKe2j9Wjh4/видео.html EDIT: Actually this link about the story of the song is better... ruclips.net/video/ViWAVwY7LtU/видео.html
Their other banger is "Sex Dwarf", kind of a demented disco electro track.
I thought I heard that missed it here
Y’all make this old hippie smile every day! Love to the whole family out there! ☮️🌼♥️🙏🏼😊
They had some great bands in the 80s !! Thanks for playing this one !! They were pretty cool!! 👍👍
Marc Almond had other hits with sift cell Bedsitter was a good dance track
@@richardworonowicz9076 I regret I have not heard SC's other stuff. I do remember some of Marc's solo songs, like "Tears Run Rings" and "Jacky".
Those are great songs you mentioned. -- I'm gonna add Pop Music by M
@@melprophet1936 Yes! And I just realized I should have included The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" (the first EVER video played on MTV when it debuted in 1981!).
Marc Almond HAS such a great voice. He’s still performing and releasing music. And Soft Cell were not a “one hit wonder”!
It's a cover version of a Gloria Jones song which was played in the northern soul clubs in the UK originally recorded on Motown label in 1964
👍yeah, was going to comment, you beat me to it, i love the original.
I can’t listen to this song without opening my sunroof and putting my hands up through!
A great band of this era is Talking Heads. Check out Psycho Killer, Life During Wartime, Burning Down the House and Uh-oh, Love Comes To Town.
Pretty much anything from "Stop Making Sense"
@@kenqb5450 Yes, I think they would really dig both the music and the visuals from the Stop Making Sense concert film.

Human League "DONT YOU WANT ME"
Modern English "I MELT WITH YOU"
Kajagoogoo "TOO SHY"
Human League had more than 1 hit, I believe ;)
I literally just emailed Amber to do Kajagoogoo - Too Shy!
Solid request Human League "DONT YOU WANT ME" too. Love this song.

Good, I wasn't the only one expected that too :P
Yes..every time! lol Same with Squeeze - "Black Coffee In Bed" ..the first link is an MTV video that fades out half way through the song.
Agreed. Ditto. I haven't this music in a while and felt cheated out of where did our love go. Guess this is what one gets when someone does not have the album, and they choose to play the music. Might as well throw in The Supremes too.
endorsed.
Is this a re-recorded version ? The lead vocals seem different than I remember. Just slightly…
INXS - never tear us apart. Huchence is an amazing singer. Acapela on the Jools Holland Show, he sang beautifully. Doubt robsquad will pick it but for the subs, it's worth a listen just to hear the song stripped down.
The just reviewed it, didn't they?
Inxs is awesome 😎
Classic from my teenage years. Thank you. Love how just into it Amber is from the get go.
If you haven't seen it already you need to watch Adam Sandlers "The Wedding Singer" it is based in the 80's and all the songs you are talking about in this video are covered in this movie, and a special guest appearance from an 80's rock Icon.
Was that 80s rock icon dancing with himself in the film?
I recommend Simple Minds "Promised You A Miracle", Joe Jackson "Stepping Out" The Clash 'Rock The Casbah" Romeo Void "Never Say Never" All from 1982, same as Tainted Love!
That was a song from skating rink days. It made me remember another song we loved roller skating to. I havnt ran aross a reaction to it yet. If you havnt reacted to "DIRTY LAUNDRY" by Don Henley you just gotta do it. Don Henley was the drummer for the Eagles until they broke up. Then he had a solo career
Never get tired of this song 😅
Yeah, I like the longer version with the "baby, baby, where did our love go..." even better.
I love this song!! ❤🎵
80's One Hit Wonder!!
One Hit Wonder from the 80's rock!
One hit wonder ONLY in the U.S.A.
Kept Boy.
and
Sex Dwarf
That was when the drugs kicked in, hahaha.
This version of Tainted Love is a later revisit by the artist FYI, the original was a little slower with a simpler production.

This was originally sung by a woman named Gloria Jones in 1964 and the covered again by Marilyn Manson in the 90's. All 3 are excellent songs.
Oh gosh, those memories light the corners of my mind hearing this song. The extended version had "Baby, Where Did Our Love Go?" as a medley with "Tainted Love" and the amount of time we spent on the dance floor because of it......
Seconded heartily.
Ok, you guys have to listen to Pet Shop Boys West End Girls ... You will love the horns in the song.
I discovered _The Warning_ a few years ago when I was watching a load of _Muse: Hysteria_ covers - they blew me away. Ale is an amazing bassist.
Ohh the extended version, yes sir., cheers from Uruguay.
This is one of many early 80$ songs that were kind of techno pop synthesizer type songs that since their initial release have never ceased to be played on the radio. Many of them were one hit wonders but were huge and still are to this day.
This one of my wife's favorite songs. She smiled when she saw that you were reacting to it. Peace!
I'm an 80s kid, grew up watching mtv and vh1.. but I can't recall ever seeing this video. Its super cool!
I used to go to the Warehouse club in Leeds, Yorkshire, early 80's. Marc Almond, the Soft Cell singer, was the cloakroom attendant. The club gave him the chance to sing on stage.
80's was all over...Michael Jackson, flock of sea gulls, Duran Duran, Bon jovi, Styx, foreigner, cars....good mix of styles

Love that song.
