    hi everyone that doing this project and run out of cords, please watch our tutorial closely as I saw some of your creation and the reason you ran out of cords because you started the square knots at the bottom too close to the top so not enough cords, we just need a few rounds of square knots for the bottom so if you dont leave enough space between the top and bottom parts then you end up having too many rounds of square knots then not enough cords for sure, hope that helps

      Do we need to cut 2.5m or 5m of cord at the very beginning?

    • @staylor1244
      @staylor1244 3 года назад +7

      No, the reason anyone would run out if cord is because your measurements are wrong. Cord should be cut 16’ long, not 8’!

    • @benzeynepp
      @benzeynepp 3 года назад +4

      It is not the solution. Using 5 meter of ropes is the only solution. I make half of the pattern and less square knot but unfortunately not enough cords though. I have to untie all the chords now and I don't know what to make these 2.5 meter ones!

    After many people here had the same experience that the length specifications could not be correct: I took at least twice the length on the second attempt. So it worked: It's a little bigger and I've added two narrower rows at the bottom so that the weight is borne by the macrame and not just by the bottom cord.
    I took: Cordsize 3mm
    32 x 5m (=160m)
    4 x 4m (=16m) (for the side cords)
    2 x 6m (=12m) (for the middle cord)
    30 x 0,5m (=15m) (for the cords themselves)
    8 x 1,5m (=12m) (they are added to the lower braid)
    (total: 215m)
    (instead of: 32x2,5m + 6x1,5m + 30x0,5m + 8x1m = 112m)

    • @marisakirko820

    For this you'll need:
    32 ropes of 250cm / 2.5m / 98.43 inch / 2.73 yards.
    6 ropes of 150cm / 1.5m / 59.05 inch / 1.64 yards.

    I’m in the middle of this project and find myself out of rope in the middle of it. I used conversion from metric to US {which I’ve done before with no issues} so not sure if this was the problem but not a happy camper right now! I’m a very experienced macrame artist and found this tutorial hard to follow. If you are not able to follow along visually or not very experienced, I would not attempt! I recommend watching the tutorial to completion then decide if this project is for you before you waste rope. I actually had to Frankenstein my project with this just so I could finish it. Learned a HUGE lesson here.

      you can simply follow the instructions from 15.45 and then, instead of 5 rows, do several of them the same way. so for each abbey, one left and one right. so that you don't run out of yarn, i would simply make 4 meters (or more) by 32 at the beginning. but in my case, a 35 by 35 cm pillow also fitted in without an extension.

    at 16:42, I have two cords left over? where do they go. I am so confused. If I just think of one section of the cords with 16 cords each, I add one new cord with the box knot. Then only use the two ends of that plus two new cords from that section of the cord. So for my first box not I use 3 of the cords. 16-3 = 13. The last two cords go on to connect to the next pattern. So, I have 11 cords divided by four that leaves me with one extra cord for the two end patterns? what do they connect to?

    Are these instructions correct? I have made many cat bed/swings that used a minimum of 16’ cords so when mounted to the dowel, each string is 8’ long. This calls for 8’ (2.5 cm) cords which makes 4’ per string. There is NO WAY you can make this pattern with those measurements. When incorrect information appears at the very beginning of a video, I can’t trust the rest of it.

      @@irinawu5648 thanks for this .. although my fringe lengths even though I made longer were no where near as long as the rest..that made it tricky as I had to add on.. and wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. So the long lengths really need to be much longer than stated.

    I'm so confused. I've been following along,and have cut the lengths as specified,why is the middle cords so much shorter??? I started the tassles and after cutting all the cord,they are also too short. Anyone else have this problem?

    • @1mog3n
      @1mog3n 4 года назад +16

      I did. I've made 2 now and had to dramatically increase the lengths. I'd recommend starting with 5m lengths for the 32 cords.
      For the 6 spiralled cords as the outside threads become working cords at the bottom you need 3m each hanging at roughly 2.5 and 50cm.
      Finally for the 8 x 1m I used 1.5m and it's actually 10 cords that you need.
      I really hope this helps as it makes such a beautiful hammock once completed!

      @1mog3n 4 года назад +3

      @@shikmalagbas9721 I mean you don't hang it evenly. With the longer lengths you'll make sure they're even at the bottom. You need shorter lengths in the middle and longer on the outside for those. Good luck with it!

    Do u mean that the first ropes are a 5m rope, than while attatching with the larkshead knot become 2,5m??
