Just found you. I've been gone for some time. However my daughter still clings to this crap and now my SIL has gone back. I'm so disgusted. I they are so blinded and so twisted by fear.
With those changes being made by the JWs, it's just creating a lot of confusion for its followers. They may try asking the GB, but they would be like, "Don't ask us! We just got those revelations from Jehovah!" It's not sinful to ask leaders questions. Even leaders asked questions.

Why is it that JW’s will teach that one of the main things that shows the Bible is inspired is that the reader can see the good things and the bad things about the characters mentioned therein but yet when you want to point out a bad thing about their governing body they get defensive? I mean, if 9 guys in upstate New York are responsible for my salvation and I need to listen to them then shouldn’t I be able to critique their actions to see if I agree with them? Otherwise, wouldn’t following 9 guys who aren’t inspired nor infallible just be blind obedience?

@@a.ihistory5879 in COl 1:16-17, the first BY is from the Greek word - EN (instrumentality ) and the second BY is from the Greek word DIA, and DIA means a channel of an act. Look at the difference with GOD, it says FROM/OUT OF - EK, that is NOT used for Jesus on the creation. so GOD used Jesus as an INSTRUMENT/CHANNEL in the act of creation

According to this quote - ALL the beliefs listed by the JW masters - about God, about Christ, and so on - come after and under the admission of a person will never arrive at JW beliefs by reading the Bible, no matter how much Bible reading they do. Those things are examples of the first sentence.
So - According to this _admission_ by the JW masters - *A person will never arrive at JW beliefs about God, about Christ, and so on by reading the Bible no matter how much Bible reading you do.*
Therefore - Since you will never arrive at JW beliefs by reading the Scriptures, no matter how much you read them, that means...
a) That JW beliefs are not biblical. JW beliefs come from another source.
b) That any and every time a JW tries to prove JW beliefs by using the Bible, he/she is trying to do something that the JW masters have openly stated _cannot_ be done.

*FOR JWS - Regarding "New Light":* Let's say you have been told all of your life that Doctrine A is true, and that it is supported by scriptures and you're given a list of those verses.
We'll assume that you have read those scriptures and that you agree that those scriptures do indeed support Doctrine A.
Now - Suppose you are told two months from now that there is “new light”, and that Doctrine A is no longer true, but that Doctrine B has taken its place. And a whole new set of scripture references are given that supposedly support Doctrine B.
This would mean that the scriptures that you once really thought supported doctrine A are no longer true.
Question: What would you do at that point? Would you just accept this new Doctrine B? I mean - You've read the verses for Doctrine A, and you agreed that they do indeed support Doctrine A.
So what would you _do?_
Another question: What if sometime in the future you are told that because of _even more_ “new light” that doctrine B is no longer true, but that Doctrine A was true after all?

Preliminary information necessary to understand points 2 and 3:
For the second and third points, you need to know about the Septuagint.
The Septuagint was written roughly 200 years before Jesus was born.
It’s a translation of the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament) into Greek. And throughout the Septuagint the Jewish scholars who translated it would NEVER write the Name of God - they ALWAYS replaced the name of ‘Jehovah’ with the Greek word ‘KYRIOS.’
Wherever the Hebrew Scriptures have the name ‘Jehovah,’ in the Septuagint they ALWAYS changed that to ‘KYRIOS.’
For example: for religious Jews, probably the single most famous verse in the whole of the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament is:

This is just one example. But throughout the whole of the Septuagint it ALWAYS replaces the name of ‘Jehovah’ with the Greek word ‘KYRIOS.’
As time went on, the Septuagint was increasingly used by religious Jews, so that by the time of Jesus it was commonly and widely used and relied upon, so much so that throughout the New Testament the apostles and Jesus Himself quoted mostly from the Septuagint.
It’s obvious that’s what they’re quoting from because the Septuagint translates things in an identifiable way, and that’s the exact way that Jesus and the apostles quote them.
The authors Archer and Chirichigno list 340 places where the New Testament quotes the Septuagint compared with only 33 places where it quotes from the Masoretic Text rather than the Septuagint (G. Archer and G. C. Chirichigno, Old Testament Quotations in the New Testament: A Complete Survey, 25-32).
Consider this:
The New Testament has 27 books.
It quotes the Septuagint 340 times.
And we believe that God and His Holy Spirit is the author of the New Testament - so God decided to do that.
Also the early church used and relied upon the Septuagint so much that Orthodox Jews who had been normatively and widely using it for 200 years actually stopped using it in order to distance themselves from Christians and Christianity. This is how closely the early church was identified with the Septuagint. There is no question or doubt among historians that the Septuagint was ‘the Bible’ of the early church.
The practice of using the word ‘KYRIOS’ instead of using God’s Name had long since become standard practice by the time of Jesus and the apostles.
That’s why in the New Testament in the original Greek it never says God’s Name, ‘Jehovah’ - it always says ‘KYRIOS’ instead - exactly as it does in the Septuagint.
Having explained about the Septuagint, now we can start to explain point 2 and then point 3.

As an educated Jew and former Pharisee, Paul was an expert in the Hebrew Scriptures as well as in the Greek Septuagint: he quoted the Septuagint very frequently in his letters, and he was more than aware that the Greek word which was always used instead of ‘Jehovah’ was ‘KYRIOS.’
Knowing that, Paul chose to use that Greek word **4** **times** in Romans 10:9-16 and he chose to write in verse 9 and say point blank categorically:
“Jesus is KYRIOS.”
Paul deliberately gives that title to Jesus - and even more than that: he says it’s a statement which your salvation depends on.

PAUL IS QUOTING A SPECIFIC PASSAGE FROM THE OLD TESTAMENT ABOUT **JEHOVAH** AND DELIBERATELY AND PURPOSEFULLY APPLYING IT TO **JESUS** .
In the original Greek text of Paul’s Romans 10 there is not the English ‘Lord’ or ‘Jehovah’ - Paul only consistently uses the same Greek word for both Jesus and Jehovah: ‘KYRIOS.’
The distinction between “Lord” and “Jehovah” in the JW’s **NWT** version of Romans 10:9-16 is artificial - it isn’t there in the original Greek text - in Paul’s original Greek text he doesn’t write ‘Lord’ twice and later write a different word, ‘Jehovah,’ twice - no, ALL four times Paul uses the exact **SAME** word in all 4 places: ‘KYRIOS.’ Paul uses the exact same word for Jesus and Jehovah: ‘KYRIOS.’
The thread of his thought about KYRIOS continues unbroken throughout all of these verses.
Of course, ‘KYRIOS’ can sometimes mean the equivalent of ‘sir/lord’ (as is sometimes used for humans). But we can know that isn’t the case here because Paul makes it very clear which type of ‘KYRIOS’ he means:
In verse 9 Paul uses the Greek word ‘KYRIOS’ for Jesus - and then he immediately makes it explicitly clear which type of KYRIOS he means by deliberately quoting a specific passage from Joel, where ‘KYRIOS’ undeniably means ‘JEHOVAH.’
THAT MEANS JESUS IS JEHOVAH.
Combining points 1, 2 and 3:
Paul was an educated Jew who was fully conscious of and very aware (as it was widely and commonly known even among uneducated Jews) that the Septuagint always used the Greek word ‘KYRIOS’ instead of ‘Jehovah’ - and, knowing that, Paul used that word **3** **times** in the space of 5 verses (Romans 10:9-13), stating not only categorically that “Jesus is KYRIOS” , but that one MUST speak “Jesus is KYRIOS” in order to “BE SAVED,” and then Paul qualifies that by deliberately and specifically quoting the Septuagint where it says people MUST speak the name of Jehovah/KYRIOS to “BE SAVED.”
PAUL IS VERY OBVIOUSLY, DELIBERATELY AND PURPOSEFULLY APPLYING A SPECIFIC VERSE ABOUT **JEHOVAH** to **JESUS** .

Check the Greek of verse 9 - it doesn’t say:

The Greek word ‘KYRIOS’ appears **FIRST** in the sentence - which means it has obvious, natural, self-evident **EMPHASIS** .
That emphasis on KYRIOS coming first is yet another confirmation that Paul is not writing about any mere generic random human ‘sir/lord’ but about the already known and self-identifying ‘KYRIOS’ : **THE** *KYRIOS* : JEHOVAH.

In verse 9, in context ‘KYRIOS’ can’t mean merely ‘sir’ - it would *NOT* make sense:

That doesn’t work. Many humans are ‘sir’ and declaring that or believing that doesn’t save you.
It would also contradict and make a mockery of Joel 2:32 - it would be saying Joel 2:32 is wrong and irrelevant and you don’t need to call on Jehovah.
If Paul had wanted/intended to mean ‘you have to speak the Name of Jesus and say he is ‘sir/lord’’ then it makes absolutely no sense why he then quotes Joel 2:32 - which says you have to speak the Name of Jehovah to be saved.
It makes no sense until you realise: oh, Paul actually wrote the **SAME** word ‘KYRIOS’ in both sentences, and is talking about the **SAME** person:
In verse 9 he wrote that you must speak the Name of Jesus and say He is KYRIOS in order to be saved - and then in verse 13 Paul said: ‘For/because’ and then quoted Joel 2:32 where it says you have to speak the Name of KYRIOS/Jehovah to be saved.
The passage makes no sense (and contradicts itself) unless you read ‘KYRIOS’ in all four places, and unless ‘KYRIOS’ has the SAME meaning in all 4 places.

Paul gives further crucial clarification in verse 12:

Only Jehovah is God Almighty. Jesus is his son, and he's not God like you people seem to believe. Jesus was sent by Jehovah to teach the good news of the kingdom and how we were to conduct ourselves righteously to get into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Scott - Here are two MAJOR problems (among _numerous_ problems) with JW belief and teaching: JWs have a false, unbiblical Christ and a false, unbiblical way of salvation and multiple other falsehoods.
a) JWs believe and teach that Christ is _really_ Michael the angel/archangel. This belief is falsehood. Here's why that's true:
NO angel would ever make the declaration that Christ makes for Himself in John 12:45
NO angel would ever tell people to believe in it the same as they do in God. But Christ does just that in John 14:1.
NO angel would ever make the declaration Christ makes for Himself in John 14:7-9. Michael would DEFINITELY NOT ever make these declarations. His name means "Who Is Like God?" Obvious answer: NO ONE. If Michael had made those declarations, he would be going against the meaning of his own name and committing blasphemy.
NO angel would ever receive for itself the declaration of Thomas in John 20:28.
NO angel has the same nature as God, as Paul states Christ does in Philippians 2:6.
In NO angel does all the fullness of God reside, as Paul states in Colossians 2:9.
b) In terms of the false, unbiblical way of salvation JWs have, consider the following: The JW "leaders" have claimed for themselves without ANY biblical support whatsoever the following: They are the only, ONLY ones who...
- were appointed and anointed by God and have His approval and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY communicators of God's truth and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY ones who can interpret the Bible correctly and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY ones who have the genuine message of salvation and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
And they have also declared that a person absolutely MUST become a JW in order to have the possibility of maybe gaining salvation one day.

Zechariah 12:8, Galatians 4:14, Daniel 3:24-28, and Hebrews 1:9 Zechariah 12:8 is the most obvious that tells us that Jesus was the Angel of the LORD. Who else in the line of David was most of God???? From David all the way to Jesus who was is the most like God??? Jesus is. And Jesus is being talked about all throughout Zechariah at 3, 6 12:8-10 yeah he's most definitely the Angel of the LORD. And yes there is one that's most like God. Jesus pal.

a) JWs believe and teach that Christ is _really_ Michael the angel/archangel. This belief is falsehood. Here's why that's true:
NO angel would ever make the declaration that Christ makes for Himself in John 12:45
NO angel would ever tell people to believe in it the same as they do in God. But Christ does just that in John 14:1.
NO angel would ever make the declaration Christ makes for Himself in John 14:7-9. Michael would DEFINITELY NOT ever make these declarations. His name means "Who Is Like God?" Obvious answer: NO ONE. If Michael had made those declarations, he would be going against the meaning of his own name and committing blasphemy.
NO angel would ever receive for itself the declaration of Thomas in John 20:28.
NO angel has the same nature as God, as Paul states Christ does in Philippians 2:6.
In NO angel does all the fullness of God reside, as Paul states in Colossians 2:9.
b) In terms of the false, unbiblical way of salvation JWs have, consider the following: The JW "leaders" have claimed for themselves without ANY biblical support whatsoever the following: They are the only, ONLY ones who...
- were appointed and anointed by God and have His approval and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY communicators of God's truth and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY ones who can interpret the Bible correctly and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
- are the only, ONLY ones who have the genuine message of salvation and ALL others are false, wrong, apostate, of Satan and so on.
And they have also declared that a person absolutely MUST become a JW in order to have the possibility of maybe gaining salvation one day.
Now - The above listing are core beliefs of JWs. And to be a JW means that a person is absolutely 100% REQUIRED to believe the listing above - without question - for the possibility of MAYBE gaining salvation one day..
The problem is - NONE of these core JW beliefs or requirements listed above are biblical.
