My Mom and Dad were good teammates up until they "marked" my 14 year old brother due to anger outbursts and
eradic behavior. He needed help but was ostracized instead. Nevermind the fact that he lived every day in fear of destruction (1975 bs) bc he knew he was imperfect and he couldnt control himself.
I will never forget the day they paid a visit to basically dissociate him. She told them where to go, and exactly how to get there. Go Momma, she chose her son over those cruel and careless men.

Yep, couldn’t even read the Bible on the podium because we would be addressing the congregation. 😖 As a teen, I could get over the whole ‘women can only be interviewed or script a part on stage’, or not hold a stupid microphone. But I couldn’t get behind the idea that I couldn’t perform the highest work (at Bethel) unless I was married, and my husband and I were approved together. I guess I should have been more angry at not being able to hold a microphone!

I am at the part of the married couple and Steve punching his wife. This infuriates me! I must have deleted this article from my memory years ago. I will say, I was married and I put up with domestic violence from my ex wife, yes I am a man and was beat. I would lay there and take it and I never put my hands on her. The elders told me that I was to blame for my wife's actions and what she did to me because I failed as a spiritual head; they are masters of victim blaming. Their view of headship and family is so skewed and demented, apparently I did not dominate her enough. Even to this day, I hear from people, that the witnesses I knew, blame me for her affair and violence because I was not spiritual enough. But I do agree, woman are treated bad and told to tolerate domestic violence. Any violence is a violation of your marriage vow and God does not tolerate it. I walked away from this corrupt religion last year and will never look back.
As a man and ex JW, I never agreed with their teaching and never ran my house in this way. My ex always had equal say and I never used my so called 'headship' to control and dominate her. I witnessed this for years with other married couples and most of the married women that are JW are extremely oppressed. I see it even in my own family that are still in. Thank you for this video and good job! I am still learning, found Christ, found a local Church, and your videos have helped me so much.

While men and women have equal standing before God, how do we balance men and women being equal with 1 Timothy 2:12:
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.
Clearly there are some things men can do that women shouldn’t, so how exactly should we take this? I’m not trying to be sexist or anything, the topic is genuinely difficult for me to understand.

    • @LightoverDarkMinistry
      @LightoverDarkMinistry  2 месяца назад +6

It is a good question. Because it's a tough passage. Is Paul just talking about that church? How to we reconcile other passages? Mike Winger did an 11 hour video on this, but also has it split in parts, and he makes some solid points.
      ruclips.net/video/GvLqRpGCayA/видео.html
My personal view, in the amount of studying I have done. It's not that a woman can't be a pastor, but God typically does not call women to be pastors, because he wants the men dying for the church. It's about responsibility and the gifts and callings of the sexes. Problem is we view it as "better" or "more important" but those don't exist, everyone's job is equal in the church. But I do think people make this into a much bigger deal than it is. Example, if we're on a desert Island, there are 100 men and 100 women, and only one woman is a Christian and knows the Bible, should she not preach and teach? Should she let the unbeliever lead, or the baby Christian? Should she remain silent, and let all 200 people just damned? Of course not. So I think what you have is "what is the ideal scenario that will help the church function at its best." And my personal belief, it is for a Man to be pastor, and let him die for the church. It's not that a woman can't, or is incapable, but God calls a woman to something different, not worse, or inferior, but different. In my church, woman have many roles, except pastor or elder. I will say, the church would fall apart if it wasn't for those women. The issue with the JW's, they do view women as inferior, and incapable of any position, which is really disturbing.

This videos arguments have more holes in them that a slice of swiss cheese from a Tom and Jerry Cartoon. A small selection out of the MANY errors:
    1) Around the 2 minute mark, factually incorrect. Sisters of good standing DO run microphones in the Q&A parts of meetings and even operate the sound system. Been happening for a while.
2)About 9-and-a-half minutes in: Head coverings. Video flashes a small portion of an article about head covering for Sisters. NOT the part that features the scriptural reasoning for it. (I wonder why??) Happy to provide that service seeing as you don't find it in the video:
"4 Every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head shames his head; 5 but every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered shames her head, for it is one and the same as if she were a woman with a shaved head. 6 For if a woman does not cover herself, she should have her hair cut off; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved, she should be covered...10 That is why the woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the angels." (1 Corinthians 11:4-6, 10)
Nothing about head coverings meaning you are not a prostitute.
    3) 12:50 mark. More untruths. My eldest DAUGHTER, is a third year med student. I myself was at University doing a B.A in history while an unbaptized publisher and faced ZEERO issues when I applied for baptism. A ministerial servant in my congregation at that same time was doing his masters in food technology. He's now an elder in a nearby town. Now what? Am I just a member of the world's most liberal congregation of JW's or something?
    4) Women can't be entrepreneurs/business owners. Again, not reflected in my congregation. Owns a Pharmacy, Hairdressing Business, Dog Grooming business, and so forth.
Incidentally, with regards to leadership, perhaps looking at how God structured his Organization under the old covenant might be helpful. What gender were all the Levitical priests?

I will single out this cult for its disgust of women.
Man is not "the boss" of Women.
Here is an example of unbiblical bias against women from this cult.
      "Questions From Readers
      ● Do homosexual acts on the part of a married person constitute a Scriptural ground for divorce, freeing the innocent mate to remarry?
Answer :While both homosexuality and bestiality are disgusting perversions, in the case of neither one is the marriage tie broken. It is broken only by acts that make an individual “one flesh” with a person of the opposite sex other than his or her legal marriage mate."
      w72 1/1 p. 31
So a woman cannot divorce her husband, even if he has relations with other men or indeed animals. What a disgrace.
The Governing Body are evil. Man is not the Boss of Women.
