Interested in your editing processes, particularly on how to properly upscale 1080p to 4K. Have been debating getting an R6 coming from an 80D. Still might make the jump in 2022, but then my question would be to either have a 4K Crop with heavier files or a crisper 1080p upscaled to 4K. Really looking forward to your thoughts on the matter and your process!
First off thanks for watching and commenting. To answer your question, I am also interested in the r6. At the moment I mostly shoot on the eos r. I think the answer comes down to 2 things. 1st Who is your content for? If it's mostly for RUclips then something like 80% of the viewers are watching on their phones so they will barely notice or not notice at all the difference between 1080 vs 4k. 2nd do you have a strong enough machine to handle the editing of said 4k footage. For the r6 you really need the new m1 Mac, most other machines will be a nightmare. For me, even if I get the a7s3 or r6 I will still shoot in 1080 especially if it's for RUclips. Hope that helps.
@@FulaanCreative Of course! And I do Wedding Videography so the content is for clients/youtube uploads pretty much, so slapping on the 4K name is good for marketing and the. 1080p upscale to 4K may be the right move considering 1080p as it is is well enough. I am looking forward to the low light capabilities on the R6 for sure tho. And I have a Macbook Pro 2.8 ghz quad-core intel core i7. Knowing I do video when I originally got the CPU years ago, I knew it could handle 1080p but not sure where it ranks on 4K capabilities compared to the M1. But from what you just mentioned, I think a nicer 1080p may be the better option and good enough upgrade for connivence and use case. Thanks! Still interested in how to properly upscale the footage. Is it as simple as just making the 1080p video larger on a 4K canvas? That seems to be the simplest method, but I'm willing to wait for the next video if you don't want to spoil the secrets here!
@@oniyoyo nah, no sweat it's easy. For the most part you just keep it on your normal timeline and when you go to export just choose 3840x2560. That's pretty much it. That's how it is in davinci resolve but I would imagine it's the same with other software as well. By the way the r6 files are a new codec, I have a suped up 2020 MacBook pro and it can't handle the r6 files really well. The only thing that can do it as far as I know is the new m1 macs or some super specced up pc.
@@FulaanCreative Ah that makes sense! I'll try the export sometime and I totally didn't even think about the new codec! Yeah it's confirmed, 1080p it is. The R6 can still do 1080p60 as H.264 right? Anything higher in specs is H.265 pretty much from what I researched but I'm sure you have a better know-how than my quick look up. Really appreciate the support and quick answers!
@@oniyoyo yes that's true, the r6 has an option for lower quality that makes it easy to edit but then the quality is almost the same as the eos r however it will still have the benefit of being 10-bit and less noise due to low light capability. For me that is still attractive but with just a little more money I could get an as73 which is also attractive but I will have to switch lenses etc. Which can be a headache. Decisions, decisions...
"5:51 Canon, can be sadistic like that!" Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! Dude, you trip me out! It's kind of like being a Chicago Cubs fan. It's a love hate relationship. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
Thank you for making this video, it has been really helpful to me in making my decision. Im looking for an upgrade in video quality from my original 7D and I think the M50 II will do exactly what I want, thanks again.
The stabilization on the M50 is quite good in my opinion. However it isn't meant for walking around or running etc. It's mostly for static handheld shots or simple camera movements. I don't own a gimbal and have never used one as of yet. I always use the normal digital IS and avoid the enhanced mode. If you are looking for a camera with gimbal like stabilization then the GH5 is the best bet although there are other trade offs. I always color grade and add a LUT or two.
I chanced upon your channel … and what a lovely balance of accuracy … humour and insight. Subscribed and one question 🙋🏻♀️ - does it have IBIS I’m figuring not then what’s the best lense to purchase for food / macro shots, and is it suitable for Food Photography especially low light as the weather here is quiet grey et dull so that is very important. Thanks in advance for your inputs. Stay safe 🦋🙌🏻
Not very many APS-C cameras have IBIS, and for sure none of the canon ones. The digital stabalization is not bad though. My favorite all around APS-C Lens is the Sigma 18-35. It doesn't have IS but I never found it to be an issue. Once you get the $36 adapter from commlite that allows you to use EF & EF-S Lenses you have literally over hundreds of lenses to choose from as opposed to the limited selection available in ef-m mount.
Great video! Can you give me your advise? My budget is $800 and I'm contemplating buying the M50 MKII. I want to use this camera to shoot stay still objects, street photography, scenery and portraits. I used to have the Nikon Coolpix p520 which was great for these purposes, the super zoom was an amazing plus. After it got damaged, I was using a normal Powershot sx170 IS, which is old and extremely noisy (hence my concern with Canon). I want something compact that I can still use 10 years down the road. I think the fact that I can interchange the lenses will help. Video recording is not my priority, but it will be good to have something that can record in 4k if I need it at some point. I love Nikon, Fujifilm is out of my range, I haven't tried a Sony camera so I'm sceptical. What are you recommendations/alternatives? Is the M50 MKII a good option? Consider the M6? Let me know.
I think the M50 is wonderful little stills camera. The M6 mark Ii is great for how compact it is and will do everything you mentioned and will do it well. There is a newer camera priced similarly to the M6 mark Ii called the Eos r 10. It has many new features over the M6 mark Ii and M50. The only trade off is that is is not as compact as the those two cameras but is a very good option as well.
Do you think the creator kit with the M50 Mark II is worth it? Mostly asking if the mic is good quality as well. I’ll have to use a different setup than just a tripod (top down over a table, I do nail tutorials). Having the Bluetooth remote would also be helpful which is why I’m considering the kit rather buying it separately. Since I would be brand new to using a camera, Is the 15-45mm lens it comes with fine for 2-3 feet distances? As I said I do nail tutorials so with the camera hanging over my table a few short feet, I need only my wrist up showing.
@@FulaanCreative thank you! I have a lightbar & a lightbox on both sides of the filming space. With my iPhone 12, the lighting is good but I do still color correct a bit while editing. How much is the microphone that you would recommend? Typically I do voiceovers but I’m looking to talk through the video to save time editing. I do edit on my phone at the moment, so the voiceovers has a small amount of humming/static/and background noise which I’m looking to eliminate as well.
Hey Fulaan, I very much enjoy watching your videos. :) It would be interesting to know what you think about M6Mkii and R7. Can’t find any video on that although they are an interesting comparison. Also considering RP vs R7. :) I am happy with my M50 and thinking about what to get for a second camera so the M50 can be my B can.
Thank for your videos!! really great!! I do a lot of Night time lapse photography and time lases of sunsets going from very bright to star light. Would the R2 Mar II be better? I heard that the M50 MII cuts out after 30minutes. Doe shte R6 MII do that too? Would that affect long time lapses? Thansk!
Thanks David! The time lapses can be done on the m50 with an intervolomter. That way it would use jpgs and the quality would be much higher than doing a time lapse video. It also would not be subject to the 30 minute limit.
I believe the M6 Mark II has a built in intervolometer so much better than the m50 for time lapses. Just double check that it has on built in before buying as I think it does but don't remember.
@@FulaanCreative oh . Maybe . I thought I saw another review in the 50 mark2 n sony both had that . Probably miss heard lol . Cause they were also talking about the new nikon
Love the content question In the market for a new camera for my outdoor company we film our hunts we have 4k video cameras but also want to add a camera to our line up, The m50 mark ii have caught my eye. My question would be will kit lens produce good enough quality images when I'm out capturing the hunt or do I need to upgrade the lens. Thanks for the heads up
Thanks Brent! The main weakness of the kit lens is that the aperture is only 3.5 so if it starts to get dark out you may run into some difficulty. If you could get an f1.8 lens that would do better. The 22mm f2 isnt bad for the price. If price isn't an issue then the 32mm f1.4 is probobly the best m-mount lens I know of. Also note that the m50 lacks auto-focus in 4k so if manual focus isn't an issue then you should be fine.
Thanks Xavier! I basically just take a photo with a nice lens and then edit it in canva.com , it's easy to use and free. I appreciate the kind words and the sub! Peace
Buddy, I want you to know that it’s because of how well you did on this video that I am subscribing. I would like for you to see massive growth in your near future. I have already bought the M50 II but you confirmed that I made the right decision. I made my decision with the M50 because of the streaming services it offers. I would like to know what you are using to edit. I recently cancelled my subscription with Adobe and I’m looking at Final Cut for my MacBook Pro.
Thanks for the encouragement Graham! I appreciate it. I am using davinci resolve for all my editing. It has some strengths over final cut but final cut most definitely has some strengths over davinci as well.
@@FulaanCreative hey, I have an ATEM mini pro & I would like a clean HDMI camera. The M50 doesn't have clean HDMI. Was looking at the Sony ZV E10 but they're getting harder to find. Is the M6 good for that? What do you recommend? Great channel by the way!!!
also, a dummy battery and a power bank for the m50 really improve the battery problem. I just use a phone vice mount and attach it right onto my camera cage.
If only the m6 mark II had a fully articulated screen the choice wouldn't be so hard. I have a Eos m100 and I mainly photograph my dog. The main thing I hate about my camera is not being able to take standing up low level pictures without laying on the ground. The specs of the m6 mark II are clearly better for what I intend to use it for except for the flip up screen
For sure the M6 Mark II. However Canon recently released the EOS R10 which is pretty much the same price as the M6 mark II and is better at both photos and videos.
The 4k uncropped and auto focus would be nice to have but man.....the fact I can't put a Shotgun Mic on top of the m6 hotshoe withe the screen in in way is a bummer. I'm so used to using the m50 with a Shotgun vloghing with the sigma 16mm. 1.4 and a senhnhizer or Rode Mic. It'd a killer combo and extremely portable and versatile. I would love the m6 4k capabilities but the cripple hammer for vlogging on the m6 is killing me lol
Man I feel you. Canon gotta chill with the cripple hammer because Sony is picking up the slack...I love Canon but to Canon every feature looks like a nail!
That's what the video was about but one thing that will me it easier for you to choose is the fact that the zve10 is out of stock everywhere due to a chip shortage. Thanks for watching and commenting.
As a RUclipsr who uses my iPhone to record, looking to upgrade to a camera.. this video was helpful! It was easy for me to understand not knowing all the camera lingo 🤣
Cant even find a new m6. Well i tried on Best buy but it got delayed. So im guessing they aint got shit. Having to go with refurbished from canon themselves. Its wild how they just dropped this. I have an m50 but i dont want to buy a whole new set of lenses. Its a hobby for me not a profession. At least not yet...
Hey What's up Niko? Thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't forget about you, I am planning to put out a video on editing etc. sometime soon. Stay tuned.
Everything you done so far is super valuable to me. Love how you're on the budget friendly option. Not many like that. Most offer for higher end banks lol. I'm not that rich. Just built my decent studio. I'm building and learning. 😁
A few years after purchased my M6 1, it's incredible how today's canon with RP is still downgrading cameras, just because they can, even my M6 has better video features. After 2 years of M6 1, i abandoned canon and went for sony A6600.

Amazing video, I really liked the fast pace !, thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! No nonsense, straight to the info - thanks!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for making this video, it has been really helpful to me in making my decision. Im looking for an upgrade in video quality from my original 7D and I think the M50 II will do exactly what I want, thanks again.
My pleasure!
Great great video mate! Thanks
Thanks man!
Do both of these cameras work well when live-streaming?
No. For that you would get the M50 but specifically the M50 mark II.
Thank you!! Would the M50 Mark II also be good for my talking head videos? That’s all I do. 😊
Much respect bro I learned hella info from this. Thanks def subscribed!
Thanks Jamie! Welcome to the channel.
For professional microstocker, I will take M6 Mark II for sure. The flip screen is useful for me since I often take low angle shots.
Yes, some people love the fully articulating screen and many prefer the vari-angle screen instead.
Stabilization on m50 mark II sucks. Is a gimbal a must?
Also, do you color grade all your videos or just use settings directly out of camera?
The stabilization on the M50 is quite good in my opinion. However it isn't meant for walking around or running etc. It's mostly for static handheld shots or simple camera movements. I don't own a gimbal and have never used one as of yet. I always use the normal digital IS and avoid the enhanced mode. If you are looking for a camera with gimbal like stabilization then the GH5 is the best bet although there are other trade offs. I always color grade and add a LUT or two.
Hey man in this 2 cameras which camera should i buy in 2024??
Pls reply 🙏
In this price range I likes the Canon R50, R10 & Sony ZV-E10 II. A bit higher price I like the Lumix S5II
@@FulaanCreative Please tell me which used camera should i buy??
192 $ eos m100
368 $ eos m6 mark 2
I need a camera for vlog and photography, think I will go with the M6
It's a great camera. You may also want to check out the Canon R50. It's newer and cheaper than the M6 Mark II.
@@FulaanCreative thank you I will do that .
@@FulaanCreative Hello do you think the eos r50 is worth upgrading from my t7i ?
@@kimamazen I that would be a significant jump in video and photo capabilities.
Thank you I appreciate it ❤
I chanced upon your channel … and what a lovely balance of accuracy … humour and insight.
This really helps me a lot! So many thanks🥰
You are welcome Edith! Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@FulaanCreative I will check the R10 out. Thank you so much!
@@VickyGR96 your are welcome.
Yes the kit lens would be great as long as there is good lighting. Regarding the mic that comes with that kit, I'm not sure as i have never used it.

Thanks! The R7 is is way above both of those cameras. The R10 is as well. The R7 is great but I don' like the IBIS that's why I went for the R10.
Just subsribed. Absolutely cracking review. About the 6th I've watched and yours hands down was the best.

So for nature photography, m50 is enough??
Sure, why not?
Maybe I missed it in your video . But does the m6 mark two autofocus have the product focus feature? Like the 50 mark 2 ?
Strange, I'm not sure the m50 Mark ii even has that. If I'm not mistaken it's in Sony Cameras not Canon but I could be wrong.
I love the video !! How do make thumbnails they are amazing !! I liked and subbed

@@theScienceLabLive Thanks! The M50 mark ii has a clean HDMI. I am not sure about the M6 mark ii though.

Both exactly the same. Digital stable.

You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!
also, a dummy battery and a power bank for the m50 really improve the battery problem. I just use a phone vice mount and attach it right onto my camera cage.
Yeah that's true. You could probably get at least 3 full days of usage with a power bank. Thanks for the tip!
@@FulaanCreative on one charge exactly 3 days
Can you charged the r6 and shoot at the same time?
yup, you just need to buy this adapter amzn.to/3H3h6pn
If only the m6 mark II had a fully articulated screen the choice wouldn't be so hard.
I have a Eos m100 and I mainly photograph my dog. The main thing I hate about my camera is not being able to take standing up low level pictures without laying on the ground.
The specs of the m6 mark II are clearly better for what I intend to use it for except for the flip up screen
Yes i agree, flippy screen beats the tilty ones.
btw, are you switching to Canon M6 Mark II?
No, I am still working with the m50 and Eos R. I Don't plan on changing anytime soon.
what is the better camera for video recording?
For sure the M6 Mark II. However Canon recently released the EOS R10 which is pretty much the same price as the M6 mark II and is better at both photos and videos.
@@FulaanCreative if i have more money to spend is it wirth to buy R7 instead of R10?
Which one better choose for macro?
Macro depends more on the lens but I'f go for the M6II or the newer R50

The 4k uncropped and auto focus would be nice to have but man.....the fact I can't put a Shotgun Mic on top of the m6 hotshoe withe the screen in in way is a bummer. I'm so used to using the m50 with a Shotgun vloghing with the sigma 16mm. 1.4 and a senhnhizer or Rode Mic. It'd a killer combo and extremely portable and versatile. I would love the m6 4k capabilities but the cripple hammer for vlogging on the m6 is killing me lol

A few years after purchased my M6 1, it's incredible how today's canon with RP is still downgrading cameras, just because they can, even my M6 has better video features. After 2 years of M6 1, i abandoned canon and went for sony A6600.
Many people also went that way. Canon isn't the most savvy when it comes to customer relations.
