I never understood why apple decided to remove touch id in the first place. It should've been around alongside the face id so people get to choose which form of screen locking they prefer. They should've had it on the apple logo on the back, on the power button or under the display. Literally any of those options are better than not having touch id at all

TouchID is a great feature. But I think we're long overdue (as usual) to get TouchID built into the power button like the iPad.
Besides that, Apple needs to have USB-C and Mini LED on the iPhone (like the iPad again); at least on the Pro and Pro Max models.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S10E with the finger print scanner on the power button and it's nearly an instantaneous unlock along with being super reliable. Meanwhile my coworkers with older iPhones and the iPhone SE take longer to register the fingerprint, and it seems more sensitive to unlock the phone.

@@LKOO7 Well considering that Apple already does TouchID built into the power button with iPads, it's mainly why I mentioned that it should be included with (at least) the iPhone Pro/Pro Max. They have the means to do so yet it's weird how they just choose not to.

If nothing else, the battery life on these is much better than a 6S. The 6S couldn't even last a day without a top up when new, and after a few years, you need a charger by noon if you use your phone at all.

    • @sternkrieger1950
      @sternkrieger1950 2 года назад +1

@@the_wiki9408 If you use the 6S with a mophie juice pack, you can easily get up to two days worth of battery life in addition to protecting the phone very well. I only switched to the SE because the cellular reception was very poor. I would randomly get no signal, especially in large buildings. The SE fixed the cellular issues and for that reason alone it's worth an upgrade!

My whole family is with Apple and I am with Samsung. I love touch ID and one of main reasons why I stick with Android. My 73 year old mother got an iPhone a year ago and I encouraged her if she was going Iphone she needs to go with iphone 8 for the touch ID or just a button to close an app but she went with iphone 11 and I see her struggle trying to close an app or even open her phone all the time.

Here’s a non-apple reason for why fingerprint scanners are not dead. The Pixel 4 used facial recognition scanners and it was legitimately a great way of unlocking. However, the teams at Google CONSCIOUSLY decided to bring back the fingerprint scanner and (correct me if I’m wrong) ditch the facial recognition. So there is still enough of a market for fingerprint scanners that it is worth switching back

I prefer Touch ID because I use my phone to authorize logins all the time. I tried Face ID and it was asking me 10x an hour to pick it up and stare at it to authorize logins. I miss just leaving it on the desk, not even looking at it, and tapping it with my thumb. Sometimes when I'm driving I ask Siri to do something like close Google Maps (because I'm done with the navigation), and she says "you need to unlock your iPhone first" which would mean picking up the thing and staring at it while driving... which of course I don't do, and I'm stuck listening to her direct me for the next 30min how to get to my own house. I used to be able to stop at a red light and give it a quick tap in the holder.

I still have an iPhone 8+, primarily because it offers Touch ID and not Face ID. I had been considering upgrading to the new iPhone SE 3, but the screen size is so small and I am elderly and need the larger screen to better read my mail and newspapers on the phone. So I will continue to use my iPhone 8+ and continue to hope that a Touch ID iPhone with a large screen will be offered in the near future. I don't know why Apple can't accommodate me on this.

I just switched over to iPhone after years on Pixels. I got this new SE actually. On paper it's a pretty big downgrade from a Pixel 6 but it was the only iPhone that has Touch ID. I prefer the fingerprint for payments and checking the phone while sitting at my desk. I get why Face ID is secure and convenient but it's also like a false choice at this point: Apple's devices should have both. The technology is there and they should use it. Apologists will point to Apple's alleged perfectionism but that's highly subjective. iOS is far from perfect, like the notification handling on iOS is hot trash. But if that's all you know, you won't know the difference. I switched to iPhone purely to have more integration with my new Macbook Pro and so far that's been great.

Touch ID was amazing from the start. I know I could just get an iphone SE, but then I would miss out on an OLED screen, which is just amazing for its brightness. I hope apple will one day bring touch ID back in some form, but I highly doubt it.

I don’t like how much of the display is lost because of the current Touch ID design. But if Apple made it an under-screen sensor, or added it to the power button, I’d be all for it. And then they could reduce the notch to a small hole-punch.

I’m TouchID for life. I’m on iPhone SE and not on iPhone 13 precisely because I don’t trust FaceID. There might be less faces unlocking my phone than fingers that unlock it, but those faces are usually at home or at family events while fingers are evenly distributed on the planet. Besides, if two different fingerprints are requested, it’s a lot safer than FaceID.

I love the Touch ID of my iPhone 7 Plus, which I've had for just over 6 years now (I had my first iPhone, a 5S, for 6 years as well). I not only don't want to have to use FaceID, but I don't want to lose the Home button. So even if Apple were to keep TouchID by implementing it into the screen, or into the side button like on the iPad (which works well but I don't like for various reasons), I would still prefer that TouchID by through the Home button. That is why my next upgrade will be to the SE 3rd generation. I am old school in many ways (I am almost 53, afterall), but the Home button gives my finger(s) a nice familiar place that a perfectly flat and featureless screen could never do. If Apple ever stops making an iPhone with a Home button, I would actually consider just going back to a dumb phone (some of the ones I've had were by far more comfortable and satisfying to hold them the iPhone, or any smart phone, ever was).

Also, just since Apple is testing doesn’t mean it will happen; Apple has probably tested e everything just about.
Also, the argument that they don’t want to relearn things means that android will be a steeper learning curve than a gesture based iPhone. Maybe consider making more videos explaining how Face ID actually works (it’s not just like a picture), so more and more people understand.

I would like FACE ID much better if it unlocked my phone horizontally and I didn’t have to upgrade to an iPhone 12 or higher to unlock with a mask on.

i will never use Face ID.. if i had to choose a phone without touch id, i rather use pattern or use passcode to unlock.. i dun like the id the phone unlocks just by looking at it.. what if i look at the phone but i dun want it to unlock.. ? it cant be done..with Face ID.
