iPhone SE (2022) Review: The Most Affordable Way to Go in on Apple

  • The iPhone SE (2022) is filled with an old-meets-new appeal. It’s a low-cost way for people to upgrade from an iPhone 8 (or older) who would like to keep a familiar design, but it’s also an iPhone for those that don’t care about Apple features like Face ID or MagSafe. The new SE is essentially a blend of an iPhone 8 body with tougher glass and the processor from the iPhone 13. Apple’s mix-and-match approach gives the iPhone SE newer features like 5G support, a longer battery life and iPhone 13-levels of performance all while retaining the home button and the classic design that many are comfortable using. The iPhone SE is an extremely capable phone that gives you a great camera and all of the Apple goodies like iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Music and access to the App Store.

It is really hard to get excited about any phone nowadays. Phones just do everything we expect them to do, and they aren't really any features left to "wow" us. I think I could use any phone on the market today, and not have a problem with it meeting all of my expectations.

I have the 11 pro and the 12 pro max . My family just purchased 3 se phones and to be honest I really like this phone . It’s small and it fits in a lot of my smaller bags . It feels like the same phone to me . Everytime I get a new I phone I always felt like it was almost the same thing just a different packaging and small differences . Now that I’m older I don’t see the need to keep getting the newest stuff for myself .

I have been so sick and tired of fitting my 6.5" phone into my back pocket (barely) for the last 3 or 4 years that I finally switched back to iOS after 10+ years simply because of this offering (and two broken 6.5" phones.) Can process more than I need, has the size that I need and overall feels like my old iPod touch I grew up with, but can call and text when I need to. There's nothing I've met better than this model, I only wish it was available sooner. Welcome back to the front pocket Apple, pleased to have you.

I'm strongly considering this because this will be my 1st Apple product ever. Never played with iOS or MAC and I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S8 that I've had for the past 4 years. I want something minimalist with little features so that it's less for me to worry about. Honestly, with how fast smart technology is growing, I can't keep up and I sound like a boomer but I'm only 24. As a retiree the SE 2022 sounds exactly what I need based upon the features you described. I would be upgrading from an iPhone 6S. I don't watch movies on my phone nor do I play games. I just use it mainly as a phone and camera. I like that the SE size is similar to what I already own, i.e. packet size. I love the touch home button because my spouse and I share the phone. We don't need face recognition or thumb print access. I love that it is 5G compatible and has a bionic chip. I love the red body color. Most of all I love the price! The SE 2022 is exactly what I've been waiting for in order to upgrade. I honestly don't care for all the latest bells and whistles. Thanks for the very informative review. .. keep in mind for $429.00 you only get 41GB of usable space, (which after a few app updates video and photos is done) and a 720p LCD panel, so while the photos and video may look good, if you use take 4k video or HD photos(1080p ) you'll probably need to share to someone with a higher display to fully appreciate as recall the screen maxes out at 720p so viewing parity on the phone is limited. The 128GB model is $479.00 but still gets you the same screen. a 720p display and 64 GB for $429.00 in 2022 is just too high a price were it $349.00 that may be palatable. If you really want an iPhone get the 11 much better value. As far as the chip a better car Analogy would be a Lamborghini engine in a Dodge Dart body yeah it'll drive smooth but try to max the engine out and the Dart will fall apart with the engine intact.

I still prefer the white face bezels like my iPhone 8 has. It is easier to see where the home button is and see the phone if it is on a table in a dim lit room while watching movies
And to anyone criticizing this home button design, I will point out to them that the iPhone 13 is basically a glorified iPhone X with the same gestures and style despite the squaring off. So whether it’s home button or just yours it doesn’t matter both designs are “old”now.
And thank you for a positive review on this device, there are only two other reviewers on RUclips that have positive reviews that I have seen, everyone else is trashing this device before they even get their hands on it! And I will never forget how they trashed the SE2 until they got it in their hands and they said the camera was the best thing since sliced bread

Hey there, are you Ms Jarrett Sanders or impersonating her? My cousin recommended her to me some months ago, He has been trading with her for sometime now but he earns just sixty five percent of whatever he invests every week which I personally think is low, I have seen traders that offer better than that. Is she better now?

Already I didn't understand the existence of the SE 2020, so the SE 2022 even less 😅.
But when Apple managed to sell more than 50 million, the other manufacturers really have to ask questions and fire all their marketing departments.
Personally I think a new SE 2020 or a refurbished 12 Mini is a better option and a Plus SE model would have been more interesting for many people.
On the other hand, no night mode on a 2022 smartphone with an A15 😳.
Today, all the misfortune that I can wish for a loved one is to have as much success as Apple with so little to offer.

Coming from 6.67 inches display. I was amazed by the dimensions of iphone 8 which has similar dimension and design of the New iPhone SE 3 (2022). It is so portable and very light. I love the idea where you just slip your phone in your jeans' pocket without having to feel bulging and heavy phone as you walk. It's just amazing. Only thing that I missed from my 6.67 is the screen size that is more than enough for watching videos like youtube and netflix.
