It is not an Ukrainian folk song. It is a Polish song composed by Maciej Kamieński (1734-1821), the creator of operas and vaudevilles, including the play "Poverty unlucky" from 1778, considered to be the first Polish opera. The song (without the refrain added later) probably comes from one of Kamieński's stage works or was written as an independent vocal piece. The author of the text is not known, but it is known that the librettos to Kamieński's works were written by such Warsaw poets as Franciszek Bohomolec, Wojciech Bogusławski, Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz and Hugo Kołłątaj. In the 19th century, a refrain referring to Ukraine was added. Ukraine was fashionable among the representatives of Polish Romanticism as a land of romantic adventures (at that time Ukraine was considered by Poles to be the "wild, Cossack east" of Poland). The song is originally in Polish, but also has a very strict translation into Ukrainian.
Well, Ukraine was the Polish dominium for more than 400 years, so they sing about the romantic Polish dominium. Shut up - you. Ukraine as an independent country exists just for 30 years. Even the name of the country was made by the Poles in 15th century (the meaning: an edge of the country).
@@alh6255 im Lithuanian so I dont know much about this but Wikipedia says the earliest mention of Ukraine was in 1187 in rus chronicles so poles couldnt have created the name Ukraine in 15th century and plus the Ukrainian lands were under Grand duchy of Lithuania.

Then the northern part of them (including Kiev) came under the rule of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which unfortunately could not cope with its maintenance. On the other hand, the southern part of Ukraine (as far as the Black Sea) was taken by the Kingdom of Poland. One of the reasons for which a large group of the Lithuanian aristocracy wanted so much to a real union with the Kingdom of Poland was the takeover of this northern part by the Poles from the military side. It was about military support for the Duchy, as well as for further support for it in the case of fights with Moscow. Poland, however, simply took over this part of Ukraine and incorporated it into the Kingdom. As for "ukraina" (not "Ukraine" word). The term "ukraina" as a common name appeared in the Middle Ages and originally meant the name of border geographic regions. Etymology, as I wrote: on the edge - away from the center. This term was used by Western Slavs (Poles, Slovaks) and Ruthenians. According to Polish records, it was especially a word willingly used on the border between Poland and Kievan Rus and is found in Polish documents from the 12th and 13th centuries. However, in the 15th century Poles used it in a new way and reached for this word to describe the whole country: former Kievan Rus, which had previously been under the Tatar occupation for 300 years and was on the outskirts, in the borderland, in “ukraina” of the "Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian center".

Chwała Ukrainie!
I’m more used to the Polish version.
It is not an "Ukrainian folk song".
@@alh6255 does it really matter?
@@KameroonEmperor It does. Fake facts are always the wrong thing. Besides, слава Украине! Держитесь, любимые украинцы!
@@KameroonEmperor ofc. Its cultural heritage. Unfair if it is labeled wrong
@@KameroonEmperor Yeah.
I think the song says меду ви нам налевайте (pour honey on us) not вина
