4:18 - "I'm Andy Weir, and I wrote 'The Martian.' That's pretty much the only thing I've done of note."
It's enough, dude. Seriously, it's enough. :-)
They were stacked up against a pop culture idol who became a certified scientist though.
OMG did not realise he wrote Casey and Andy that rocked.
Once an A list celeb like Matt Damon plays in a movie version of something you wrote, you're definitely pretty famous.
Hells yeah! My favorite book. :)
He also wrote and illustrated a webcomic called "Cheshire Crossing" which blew my mind. It was after "Casey and Andy", and you take Wendy, (from Peter Pan) Alice (from Alice in Wonderland) and Dorothy (from The Wizard of Oz) and sprinkle it with Mary Poppins. They can move from Wonderland to Oz....aaand I wouldn't spoil the rest.
You can see it here: www.cheshirecrossing.net/
I guess it will never be complete but it's one of my favourite comics - of all time - and I've collected (and read) comics for 30 years. It's so unique that everyone who finds "The Martian" interesting AND likes fantasy will (properly) love "Cheshire Crossing".
I hope that he makes a novel of it but I'm not getting by hopes up.
(to Andy Weir, if you read this: PLEASE make a novel! I would love to find out how it ends.)
I love watching this show, re-watching, and re-watching. Brilliant all the episodes of TableTop - please universe let Will Wheaton make more of these someday❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do you know why they stopped?
@@AltusNoumenawill she’s them for stiffing him out of money he was owed contractually. They would t allow an audit of their books to verify they gave him the proper percentage. They then refused to comment and quietly settled with will out of court. This means they almost definitely did stiff him because they gave him an undisclosed lump sum as to not have their books be audited. Super sus and if he did do something like this again it would likely be owned by him and have nothing to do with the owners of tabletop
@@Duckduckobtusegoose that's really messed up! Was it geek and sundry stiffing him or tabletop something else owned all together? I love Will's energy in this show and I hope he does do his own thing like this sometime soon!
@@AltusNoumena It was Legendary Entertainment, who bought G+S a while back
Mayim is the epitome of good sportsmanship. When Andy was doing his final turn, she was so excited.
Will too! He’s always so happy when the game is going well. And well for him doesn’t mean him winning, it means a general success and him and friends having fun with the sequence of events.
I loved Mayim in this one, she was super intelligent and an excellent competitor (soo close!), but also such a great sport, cheering on the other players, and just generally being a font of positive energy. I would love to play a game with her, but alas I will simply content myself with (hopefully) seeing her on Tabletop lots and lots.
Yes I agree her general attitude was so positive and good and although for a large part she was winning she always cheered for the rest. She surprised me in all the good ways
Illusion-XIII Too bad Bialik is a warcrimes apologist, and even enabler by doing PR funding campaigns during ethnic cleansing campaigns by Israel. She's a racist witch.
WTF are you talking about? Dude, go back to your tinfoil bunker.
I love how she helped Tim.
Can we have Mayim for every episode she was great!
^ this
Just go watch blossom.
@@maxwellschultz4784 Or Jeopardy
Around 11:41, Andy Weir references The Last Airbender "Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked." I miss that show.
"More ships than someone with a Supernatural Tumblr." xD God, I've missed this show...
I was sitting here wondering what a magical Batmobile had to do with space ships but had given it up as a reference I just simply missed. Then I wander down here and see you capitalize one word and misspelled the other and suddenly it all makes sense. And is very funny. So thank you twice. ^_^
Hahaha, a supernatural tumbler would be awesome though... xD
Carrorolen zinnias nb
I really like how Mayim was getting all excited for Will near the end "ohh he did it" lol
You know.. Wil's shirt really says something about the power of the episodes and the fandom that has sprouted up around Firefly.
Star Wars: 3 beloved movies in a serial, 3 films in a prequel serial, 1 film in a on going sequel serial, 3 spin off movies, a holiday special, 5 cartoon series, countless video games and two MMOs.
Star Trek: 6 Television series, 13 movies, several video games and spawning it's own conventions for decades.
Firefly: 14 episodes, 1 movie.
All three on a T-Shirt as equals.
Firefly is the Tiny Epic Galaxy of fandom
_Edited as I forgot to include the Disney star wars movies, The Clone Wars, The traditionally animated Clone Wars and, Rebels_
Rob Elliott Wait *two* MMOs
***** Star Wars Galaxies and The Old Republic. Unless there are others I don't know of.
slimek20 The Old Republic and Galaxies.
i think its more of a comment on the speed of the ships as both firefly and StarTrek used a theoretical propulsion system and the falcon used mumbo jumbo to advance the story or it just looked good in that order :D
here's that shirt i think

I just want to say that Mayim Bialik is one of my personal heros and getting to see her on my fav gaming show was a real treat for me. Thanks!
She’s a jerk. I once paid her to paint my chicken coop and she never did.
I really like it when the guests aren't "personalities" in the publicity sense. Feels more like friends at the table ignoring the cameras but aware of the fans. Makes me lean-in.
But then again, there's the "Cards Against Humanity" episode. Which is how CAH games really tend to go. Personality flying into orbit.
TableTop: Creating terrific mixtures of games and people for four seasons. Long may it reign!
"...lean-in." Must...not...hurl. Otherwise you're sure are right.
If only tabletop could have reigned forever. Tableflip is also gone :( RIP boardgame shows
Probably the most amazing line up of guests.
A truly star cast!
TableTop is the reason I got back into playing more games, and I am excited to finally see them play a game I have already played, rather than the other way around :)
Lucas B I agree with all of that!
Certainly is a lot cheaper when it is a game you already own too ;) Damn this is some expensive youtubing.
"Wow that games looks awesome...I gotta buy it!" XD
Lucas B same here. It rekindled my love of board games as a kid and led to a weekly game night and massive collection of new games.
I absolutely love Mayim, she's so excited and supportive of OTHERS doing well and winning. She is the perfect sport. Mayim, would you come play some board games with our playgroup?
I like the moral of this game: "the more you follow others the less culture you have"
I wanted to like this comment but it had 69 likes and i couldn't ruin that
right... hilarious
Nice... unfortunately others did lol
one more for 169!
...unless you follow culture to gain more culture ;)
Bruh, the work that went into editing this, I can't even imagine. The sound effects and the timing of it all. Creds!
Wil is the main reason why I subscribed to this channel. Anybody else?
tabletop's the only thing I watch here anymore
this and critical role
I rather enjoy spellslingers as well as critical role.
This is a funny joke. I laughed very hard.
same
I was not aware that Mayim is such a delightful being, it's so much fun watching her get excited
I see you're promoting Mayim, but my heart will always be with Tim Schafer
If you backed the "Beyond the Black" kickstarter, you got Tim Schafer and Andy Weir as potential pilots.
Thank you tabletop for showing fun games! It was this show that really introduced me to modern board gaming. I now have a couple of shelves of games, several of which I first learned of from Tabletop. Games like Ticket to Ride, Small World, etc are so much fun to play with friends. So far this is the stand out game for me this season. It may find it's way into my little collection as it looks challenging and fun. Thanks!
Mayim is awesome, I love how excited she was for other people's turns.
"I have more ships than a Supernatural Tumblr." I laughed out loud at that point :D
That one took me a second cuz it was so unexpected! LOL. Literally. I literally laughed out loud, then had to cover my mouth. I was at home, thankfully.
I love Andy's comeback, "Now stand in the corner and think about what you just did"
Mayim is hilarious. She is like no you can't flip the card I have to.
She seems like she's got a bit of the OCD going on.
She is awesome.
"I'm Andy Weir, and I wrote The Martian. That's pretty much the only thing I've done of note."
That is blatantly false. I actually remember Andy Weir more for his short story "The Egg", which completely changed the way I think about people and human existence.
Kurgesagt made it into a video
He wrote that? Amazing.
11:39 "Every thing changed when the fire nation attacked"
Wait is that the one with the world being this one entity?
Thanks for the recommendation! Just read it and I really like the idea he put forth, but then my horrified mind also realized this gives a new meaning to "go f&*% yourself", and mofo. I want to discuss it more, but also don't want to spoil anyone in this chat so I'm recommending it to friends.
Mayim seems like she would be so much fun to play games with. She's excited for others accomplishing what they're trying to do. :)
What an epic lineup! The game looks really cool too, very intricate.
Love Mayim wearing a Star Wars necklace sitting next to a Star Trekker, thinking "Suck it" in return for it happening in reverse on Big Bang Theory
I love how Mayim went Full on mom mode as soon as the game starts
^ need her back
"Our version of Rock and Roll is just throwing boulders down hills." -Wil
Slayed me. hahaha.
Mayim is such a great sport. Love this episode. :)
Seriously, what a great group of players. Wish this show still existed.
"Come over here Bernard, so I can punch you?" Day of the Tentacle, frackin' awesome game!
Loved this episode. Not only do I love the game (and all of the Tiny Epic series of games), but the banter and Trek references were awesome. Love, love, love Mayim and totally identified with her when she went about centering and straightening the cards.
I am glad i backed the new expansion of this game on Kickstarter. It looked very fun and it will be a nice addition to my board game collection.
Angel Banchev Same here. We love this game in my house.:)
I love Mayim, one of my favourite celebrities.
Let's get back Spellslingers!
Adnann I agree
I second that notion
Yes.
I think sean is busy with other stuff right now. But I am not sure. I do know he's focusing a lot more on streaming atm.
Several months ago Felicia Day bade us spam Wizards' Twitter and tell them we wanted another season because Spellslingers was their show.
Recently all the episodes were added to Alpha. I took that as a sign that maybe we were getting another season.
I have no actual evidence that we are, but it seemed odd that they randomly added it.
Fingers crossed.
love this game so much. I Loved Mayims vibe - she is such a fun, supportive competitor
Tim Schafer has the MOST hilarious sense of humor :'D
The Something Show Korea I want more Tim
Tim Schafer can't manage a video game kickstarter, company, or a space empire.
I just love Andy's intervention at 23:25 ! It tied in with sci-fi, science, it felt so appropriate for the mood of the game and of the table, just great! :D
Love TableTop Wil. Keep up the awesomeness. Watching TableTop is what led me to G&S to discover Critical Role. Thank you for that & I hope to see Wil playing some D&D with those guys again in the future.
died laughing when i saw the fine print of "ability if a swallow to carry up to or exceed a one pound coconut " (excellent Holy Grail reference!)
Thank you for inviting Tim Schafer, the LucasArts games were some of my favourite games growing up.
I was thinking of buying Tiny Epic Kingdoms recently as I enjoy the fantasy setting, this also looks compelling. Anyone got any personal experience they are willing to share to guide me on which to get first?
Thank you for the input. I think I may take up your suggestion. A space based game may be a nice change of pace, as my fantasy bias may have already reached saturation point. Much appreciated.
colin young TEK is fun, I would still say this one is #1. The only one I think is skippable is Defenders... it gets too repetitive for my liking.
have to agree with the comments here: one of the best/most funny episodes in all my years watching; excellent guests and a great spirit around the table!
You could really see how much fun they had in this one.
Three great guests and a great game.
Andy's win was a "on the last role", "edge-of-your-sit" sort of stuff.
Well done all involved.
Look forward to the next exciting episode of TableTop.
Thanks Wil.
Cheers!
I miss TableTop.
brilliant not only a chat about the prime directive but the very next dice roll is the federation flag.
Why isn't MOTHERFUCKIN' Tim Schafer in the title? The man is a legend! A Brutal Legend!
well sadly him and his company are in a broken age right now
bigp132 because he's a con man who can't manage money and has become a joke today
Yeah, a legend of releasing unfinished crap
Broken Age was kickstarted as an old school adventure game. What we got was an adventure-lite game designed for 5 year old kids that lasts no more than 2 hours, more fitting for tablets than PC. All due to Schafer incompetence and running out of money half-way through development. They even had to release the game in parts.
They later created a game called Spacebase DF-9 that was abandoned in alpha state, without any decent explanation.
I would love to be a joke who helped design games that became classics.
I'm actually really appreciating Mayim being so obsessive about describing what she's doing.
Being OCD about the cards, on the other hand, is just funny.
Tim Schafer doesn't get a call out on the video title. Tim-fucking-Schafer. The guy that is beloved by games for making amazing experiences. For shame!
G&S took a cue from him and didn't finish the title
lmao, years of reading youtube comments, I knew it would be worth it someday
@bew1977 SAVAAAAGE
and accurate
I really miss the TableTop series. Bring it back!! :)
Quote of the day: "More ships than a Supernatural tumblr."--Wil Wheaton
I love Mayim a little bit more for every second of this video that I watch XD she's great!
Andy Weir also wrote "The Egg", a short story that changed my life.
May I ask why is it so life-changing?
Rafael Mota the story expanded my compassion and empathy for all people
I see... Thanks for the reply. ;)
@sniff sniff claiming anything is 'for the weak' as to mean that this somehow makes it bad is the only thing genuinely for the weak, weak of character in that case.
I'm SO glad to see new Tabletop episodes posted on RUclips!!!
uh nice shirt wil
serenity, millenium falcon and the enterprise flying a race :D
nerdgasm!
Foxi! And the serenity from fire fly
F
here's that shirt i think
teechip.com/ultimatespacerace
Thanks thenextjobs!!!
Not much of a race though, I mean it i between two cargo vessels and a warship. The Enterprise should win hands down.
Mayim Bialik is awesome. great to see her joining in on a TableTop episode.
Love this show! This is how we choose most of our board games!
Thank you for posting this! I've been waiting (im)patiently ever since we saw the pic of Wil holding the TEG box when we backed the expansion Kickstarter. Extra special to see Mayim on an episode, as well!
Even with only two adult players at our house this is a favorite game here. I highly recommend it! can't wait for the expansion.
I own and love this game. Recommend it. Good show guys.
Bring back Tabletop!!! We NEED it in covid quarantine !!! Pleaaaaase
You should try to get Felicia Day and Mayim Bialik on the same episode. Is there a game that involves having a large unruly pile of cards in the middle of the table? :)
J. W. Green Ha! Ha! Ha! And either Jim Parsons or a total lunatic like Shatner or Jack Black!
Love it, they're all trying to stop Mayim from winning, but she's just happy when anything good happens to anyone xD.
"1993 for me"
Wil, weren't you briefly in Star Trek Nemesis (2002) in the wedding scene? Wasn't that on the Enterprise in space?
on earth not in space.
That was also a deleted scene. The decided not to let him cameo because of how his character was written off. Made it difficult to include him in any future reunion efforts because they basically had him magicked away to Space Hogwarts.
A couple of things:
1) I've only ever seen the film the one time (in theatre) and found it boring. I couldn't remember if it was on the Enterprise or a planet. I thought the former. Since it was on Earth, point withdrawn
2) He only has a SPEAKING role in the deleted scene. However, he is still visible in the wedding scene in the theatrical release (I do remember that much), so had it not been for point 1 I'd stand by it.
He's also been in Dark Matter in space.
Wait, I thought he flunked out of Starfleet acadamy.
Joined a local game group tonight, and someone whipped this out. Have never played it, but watched this video when it came out. Was able to snag the victory thanks to it!
"...Fern Gully."
God bless Tim Schafer.
Mayim started getting HELLA into it!! Hahaha This is a great channel!!
Mayim's OCD moment of centering the cards just made me love her more
This was a fun one to watch as they all are. I had no idea what was going on but loved the group interaction. And developed a crush on Mayim B. along the way.
I just noticed that Will's shirt is Serenity, Millennium Falcon, and the Enterprise. That's awesome.
keeping thematic, they should have played as the Federation, the Alliance, the Verse and the Empire
here's that shirt i think: teechip.com/ultimatespacerace
Team VLCN I didn't realize that till you pointed it out, thought they were pencils/pens.
Melan Thor That's what I thought to, when I first saw them. I didn't notice until the close ups.
This definitely made my day. The sun was out, the work day was short, and a new Tabletop is on!!
Who else is watching this again in 2020?
Jeska Actually I’m watching this in 2020 for the first time.
Alasdair Watson Same!!!
I am watching this for the first time, having followed the wonderful, beautiful, intelligent Mayim Bialik.
I will watch it again for her, too!
😁😆🤣
LSV of Limited Resources sent me here.
This is how I'm entertaining myself during social distancing. Lmao #Covid19
The level of nerdyness on this episode was priceless 👌
"Sudden desire to domesticate Owlbears" :-D
3 of my favorite people are in this episode.... Wil Wheaton, Tim Schafer (DOUBLEFINE IS MY ALL TIME FAVE), and Mayim Bialik... Im 52 seconds in and I'm already in love with this episode... (Misspent Youth is really hard to be beat though, tied for first?)
Holy crap, I always thought Mayim was like early 30s, but after what Wil said I went and looked and she's almost 42 and a mother of 2... dayumn
loving Wil's shirt.
I have the feeling that some future civilization would find our lore and be like Data and Troi trying to figure out "Darmok and Jalad, at Tanagra"
"Tiny Epic Stabby Hobos" huh? I Wanna see that game on tabletop Season 5.
I laughed at how Andy had to remind Wil about the prime directive lol
Tim Schafer, i'm still waiting for Brutal Legend 2!!!
Finally, I'm not the only person on Earth who's played Brutal Legend. Now that would make a great board game with miniatures.
Mayim is channeling Sheldon, she needs to have the cards a particular way on the table! XD
Awesome show, thanks so much for all the hard work
The best cast on a video EVER. How could i miss this pearl??
Tim! make Brutal Legend 2 please! love you man
Great episode, Mayim Bialik is my favorite guest that has been on this show and there has been some great guests.
Wil Weaton: Last time you pretended to be in space. 1993 for me.
Uh.. Wil.. What about Dark Matter?
Episode was recorded before that, I suppose? It may only be showing on youtube now, but wasn't this available in that subscription service (alpha, I think?) since last year, which means they likely started recording earlier still?
Nah, he was in Dark Matter before that whole Alpha shebang started with TableTop. Furthermore, he was also in Eureka, where his character was in a simulation in space -- He was pretending to be someone pretending to be in space.
Either way - not to say his perception is objective, but he may not have treated Eureka or Dark Matter with importance - thereby forgetting the "small" shows.
#WilWheatonDoesntCareAboutDarkMatterPeople
"I'm gonna move, anybody want to follow me!?" Classic Wheaton.
Mayim Bialik! I love her!
Now THAT was fun hilarious entertainment. We will have to watch it a couple of times to really catch on to the game... but the interaction between players. Was fun to watch and listen to. Great job to all at Geek & Sundry.
I love that Mayim needed to have the cards centered. It would have bugged me too.
Actually really liked the crew for this, wasn't massively sold on the game, but some great laughs. Mayim is adorable and is it me or is Andy Weir rocking some major biceps?! Great work all!
Millenium Falcon necklace... ;)
i am alittle terrified, wait no im not Andy deserves that stuff anyday. respect and love to you all! and Ty!
"I have more ships then a Supernatural Tumblr." - Wil Wheaton. LMFAO Best thing ever. XD
Fun episode. I would love to see Mayim return. She was a lot of fun. Smart with a wicked sense oh humor!
Out of all the episodes, how many times has Wil won? Also, shouldn't one of the cushions on the couch say "Reserved for Wil Wheaton"....
I believe his reservation was on the old 'porn couch'.
Also, I can remember him winning once solo off-hand but let's see.
Co-op wins:
Mice & Mystics
Legendary
Concept
Castle Panic
Elder Sign
Solo wins:
Betrayal At House On The HIll
Sushi Go / Roll for It
Love Letter / Coup (Tied with Benny Fine)
Libertalia
Five Tribes
Pairs (Tied with Boyan Radakovich and Nick Carmichael)
Lords of Vegas
Fortune and Glory
Shadows Over Camelot
Gloom (Tied with Amber Benson and Meghan Camarena)
Star Fluxx
Huh. Looking at it like this dimnishes the Wheaton curse somewhat.
I just did a quick count of the episodes. Ignoring cooperative team wins/losses and story-based games like Dread and Fiasco (which you can't really "win" in my opinion), Wil has a wins to games played ratio of 11/42 -- or just a tiny bit better than 1 in 4, which is completely average considering there's almost always 4 players.
So, while I have seen the Wheaton dice curse in action on Critical Role, I don't think his "I always lose on TableTop" thing represents an objective truth, even if it might feel that way to Wil.
Boesvig he likely does it as a running joke, mostly unrelated to actual fact
Carcassone also
He has turned it into a running joke, sure. However, it's no secret that Wil suffers from generalized anxiety disorder and chronic depression. I'm pretty sure it feels to him like he is losing more often than he should statistically.
Wil Wheaton, Mayim Bialik, Seth Green and Will Friedle OMG!!! Hello, 90's!!! Where 90's T.V stars go to do die. It's comforting to know they are still nerding out and keeping on.
19:15 -Economic progress goes 'boink.'
Just a hint, Edge your cardboard for presentation purposes. Use a dry erase marker to just go around the edges and wipe the extra marks (if any) from the inked parts of the card. it reduces the white reflections from the corners and looks considerably better on camera.
