  • Mohammad Wali Tasleem - It's Who We Are - Episode 1 - 4K
"It's Who We Are" honors the stories of it's employees that make up the fabric of Black Rifle Coffee. In this first episode we take a look at Mohammad Wali Tasleem, an Afghan commando, whose compelling journey is nothing short of amazing. From a childhood rife with conflict in his native country, to fighting alongside U.S. Special Forces, then coming to the United States because of the dangers his family faced. Ultimately, Wali found his way back to his brothers at Black Rifle Coffee. This is his story. This is Who We Are.

I worked in oil refineries when I came home from Iraq. I went to a gas station one time to cash my first check from my new job, and my bank was on the opposite side of the state from me (electronic deposit wasn't set up just yet.) The guy at the counter never heard of the company I worked for before. He was suspicious I was giving him a washed check. I told him I reloaded catalytic reactors in a paraxylene unit. I thought this was gonna be futile because who the fuck would know what I am talking about, much less this dude. He smiled at me and cashed my check, stating he knew all about the process of cracking hydrocarbons in a coker unit after the residuals were processed in the paraxylene reactor. He than began to explain in great detail the chemical procedures for the pyrophoric catalyst I was using. He explained shit I DIDNT EVEN KNOW. I asked him how did he know all of that stuff? He told me here in America, he's a cashier, in Pakistan he was a Petroleum Engineer. His degree didn't transfer to American accreditation and he wasn't gonna go back to school for 6 to 8 years to relearn the same shit he wrote some of the protocols for. He wasn't mad. He owned the store and made better money selling gasoline and cigarettes in a shitty gang / drug filled neighborhood than he did as an Engineer where he came from. Said he felt safer here too.

As a former muslim who grew up in a muslim household I can tell you many muslims that interact with non muslims tend not to reveal their more problematic sides. If you had no choice but to grow up with them, and be forced to adhere to religious beliefs, you would have a different outlook.
And as someone who grew up muslim, the unfortunate truth is that the type of islam that isis and the taliban preach *is* the purest form of islam. When most muslims say that don’t agree with isis/taliban it’s just that even they cannot handle how oppressive their religion truly is, and/or are in denial/ignorant, or in some cases just flat out lying.

Broke my heart seeing him get emotional when saying people weren’t nice to him. Can’t imagine how excited Evanand Jeff must have been to have worked closely with him for 12 years , hear he’s dead for years and then get a call thst he’s in America in a shitty situation! Moved him to Utah in one of the lowest crime rate areas in the US , got him a house and furnished it! Wow! 12 year combat Vet instrumental in many US special operations missions amd over 1,500 combat missions he’s a hero and deserved this blessing. These dedicated commandos thst did so much for and with our forces will likely be in great danger with US forces pulling out . Terror organizations will attempt to make examples of Afghan military that aided the US to deter futur aid, greatful he got out! The area he lives in now is beautiful and friendly people. And works for BRCC one of the best companies to work for anywhere and surrounded by other vets who are jsut like him and understand his world. As I write this on Thursday, 10 September 2020, feeling immensely discouraged & heavy-hearted as the larger cities in our nation continue to burn after more than 100 days of rioting...
    Hope appeared.
Out of nowhere, this video showed up as recommended.
I’m so glad I watched it!!!
    It’s life-approach-altering message!
This (as of now) 2 year old video gave me more of a sense of hope than anything I’ve seen, heard, or read since before March 2020.
Wali is an amazing man, an inspirational gentleman, an obviously loving dad, a VERY hard worker, a military veteran & brother -in-arms to many American soldiers, worthy of the real life respect given to a godsend for our American society.
Wali embodies the American Fighting Spirit
He has made me feel really hopeful & encouraged for the first time in the past 6 months.
Since I discovered BRCC, I’ve realllly wanted to get a t-shirt from the shop. Unfortunately, my budget hasn’t allowed it & honestly still doesn’t.
That doesn’t matter right now because of Wali’s hard work and all y’all BRCC folks pulling him & his family into the BRCC family, I’m gonna take a leap of faith and order a shirt from y’all.
My only request (and I’ll add a note when placing my order) is that Wali receives every possible spare penny that can be squeezed out of my purchase.
    Also, I’ve gotta tell ya...
I LOVE BRCC canned Espresso Mocha!!!
I’ve FINALLY found the perfect cold mocha coffee & have permanently switched from SBs & DDs sickeningly sweet swamp juice.
Thank you to every single one of you!!

I asked him who they were and he said he was a Captain in the Army he was a hill commander and he said they where his assigned body guards. I have never seen my father ever cry but when I asked me what happened to them he looked really sad and he chocked up and said they where probably killed after US left Vietnam. I think to this day he thinks about them and wishes he could have brought them back to US.
