I really love this song and was very happy when I discovered John performed a version without LRB. I intentionally did not select the LRB version because I was against how they treated John. It was a 'powerful and emotive' performance not only by John, but also by his backing singers and band. John's vocals never cease to amaze me, the range he imparts in this song is unbelievable. I think because he personally relates to the song, he's given it even more 'oomph' than he usually does. The result being, he totally blows you away. Lets not forget to mention the harmonies, so professional and on point. Also Brett Garsed ('Rambo') on the guitar solo was fire, he totally ripped it up! *Back story:* The song was written by Graeham Goble and first released in 1982. It was performed by Little River Band (LRB) with John on lead vocals. When John left LRB and went solo, Ross Fraser re released the song in 1990 (please correct me if that is not the case). The inspiration for the song came about from John's own experiences. He said "it tells the story of a man who leaves his family behind and travels to the United States, hoping to find success and a better life. It is a story of hope, sacrifice and the pursuit of dreams". I believe the song is saying there are opportunities to be had if you are willing to take risks in life. Great song and reaction VK .Although LRB had some great songs with Farnsey he felt very restricted with them as the front man .
