There was a woman who lived in the same area as me who did this. She had a disabled boy of 5 and a baby who was 10 months. The disabled boy needed some professional help through a special hospital in town and the mom was stressed out about it and was getting multiple calls from staff about her son during sleeping hours. She went to work one morning and sometime in the afternoon she was notified by her supervisor that her husband was wondering where the daughter was because she hadn’t been dropped off at daycare. She said that in that very moment she knew what she had done. She ran out of work and found her daughter had passed inside the hot car. She was guilt ridden and heartbroken. She was not allowed to have her son back because of what had happened. These people lived in a beautiful home and from what I saw were very nice people. I think it’s possible to have it happen purely by accident and not by neglect. Every situation is different though and I don’t know the full story of the woman in this video. I pray for healing for everyone.
How sad... omg. My Mom was at the library once. She left, actually drove away, and got this nagging feeling that she'd forgotten something... Suddenly she slammed on the breaks & returned to the library, in a panic! She'd forgotten 5 year old me!!! I was still sitting where she'd left me, quietly looking at a book. I never knew she'd even left either!!! 😂. So yes, forgetting is one thing, but for hours upon hours???
@@empressannjam1Exactly, me either!! Idk how people even try to make sense of it. & you ever think about how you never hear about kids being left in the car during winter months...kids are never found frozen to death. Its cause these parents/care takers are careless. How did she remember to get the grocery bags out & contact the mom but fogot that precious baby
I think she really wasnt into taking care of Ariya. A ten month old is tons of work. They are generally very active, crawl around, climb on furniture, try to walk, fall alot, and touch everything. Personally I suspect she kept her in the car for hours as a form of control. Then as time passed she got distracted on the phone etc. And we don't know, she might have even taken a nap and that's when she forgot Ariya. She simply was irresponsible.
She likely remembered that the baby was forgotten when mom was knockingn and then calling and wanted to get to the baby first. So she hoped mom was at a different door and not the front door..
She deserves every bit of what she has coming to her! Her shaking and seeming sick after the verdict was read is 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 in comparison to what that little girls family is going through! It seems she was more focused on gossiping and talking bad about the woman she was watching the three children for, messaging the baby's mother minutes after she got there but forgot the baby in the car... she's a nasty person, it seems. @kimfauth9542 The fact that she texted the mother and video chatted with the aunt and still didn't remember the child is crazy to me! Like OP said, she was too busy gossiping instead of focusing on her job/responsibilities that day. Call me merciless because have no mercy for her!

I totally agree. She has done this before as well. The baby probably wakes up if she removes her from the car so she lets her sleep and then goes and gets her. She doesnt wanna deal with her waking up. She probably forgot around 9am.
A baby left alone in a car in the summer in Florida?!? Unless this woman has lost touch with reality, she knew without question what was going to happen. Such a horrific end for an innocent little baby, it just makes me sick.
I hope she is never aloud to look after children again. Maybe if she has children for them to be taken away from her, as she is not safe to look after children.
The stupidity and lack of awareness of some people is beyond belief. In this time and age, you would think people would learn from other people's mistakes, but they don't.
I feel sorry for this lady. I feel horrible that this happened but I truly believe it was an accident. A baby is gone and as a mom and grandmother I pray that it never happens to anyone close to me. Such a sad tragedy.
You would be surprised. I was surprised and it happened to me. You can’t understand yourself how your brain shut off from it. It has nothing to do with how much you love the child etc. I forever will never understand. I didn’t do drugs didn’t drink etc. It’s a horrible horrible feeling. Thankfully the child was fine but it’s something myself and her Mother will carry for the rest of our lives.
EXACTLY. If she had genuinely forget the child, this would have reminded her to go get the baby. It was her habit to leave the baby in the car for as long as possible so she could be on her phone texting and scrolling. On this particular day, she left her in the hot car too long.
My heart breaks for the family of the baby & the woman on trial. She’s not a cold blooded killer. She made a tragic mistake. Praying for everyone involved.
What is your definition of negligence? Listen carefully to the prosecutor’s explanation of the various charges the jury must consider. An accident is when a kid wets their pants. That’s what Rhonda did after the parboiled baby was discovered. 🔥🥵😱
It’s horrible when headlines sensationalized the truth. She’s not a murderer. She did not murder that sweet little baby. Though her actions caused the death of the baby, does not make her a murderer. By definition: To 'kill' means to make someone or something die. 'Murder' refers to the crime of deliberately causing someone's death.
Everyone in YT comment sections are so bloodthirsty and get worked up calling everyone murderers, they have no critical thinking skills or ability to see nuance and it makes me feel that we are slowly devolving back into a Wild West vigilante society
I saw an insane ad on somewhere the other day where they tell you to put something important in your car so you don’t forget your child ? I would have thought the child was the most important thing 🤷♀️
@kgrimes842 10.333 year minimum and 15 year maximum for 3rd degree felony murder in florida. Not life. Which means she could be out in less than 9 years if she gets minimum sentence
She refused a drug test at the scene declined the plea deal I hope she gets the maximum. I think she fell asleep or passed out either way completely negligent
This as a young mother 40 years ago, I always put my handbag next to the car seat to remind myself - it scared me then as this of course is not the first case of leaving a child in a car.😢
You used your handbag to remind yourself that you had a baby? Wow, just wow. I never ever needed anything to remind me that I had a child, or three or grandchildren, cos you know I’m a responsible adult!
Her defense just doesn't make sense to me. You mean to tell me you forgot(within a six minute drive) that you picked up someone's child? Not to mention your job is literally to take care of that child... Even after having a conversation with the child's mothers via text message, you still did not "remember" you had the baby? It just doesn't add up. I wonder if they ever gave her a drug screen, because the only possible explanation that makes sense to me is she had to be under the influence of prescription medication, alcohol or street drugs... 🤷🏽♀️
@ I have no idea I do think it was the highest level of negligence I just don’t see what reason she would have to do that on purpose but I could definitely be wrong
I don't understand her being on bond with a guilty verdict on counts 2&3 either. Would have thought bond would have been been revoked. She could flee back to Columbia couldn't she??
This is what I don't understand. WHY would a person leave a helpless child in a hot car? If there was a motive, what would that look like? WHY would you put the child's parents through a trial? Finally, why would you refuse a drug test? And if you refuse, isn't a blood draw legally allowed in a criminal case?
I am shocked at her sentence. The loss of the child was beyond horrible but she clearly was horrified at her brain lapse. She urinated on herself. Unfortunately these things do happen. I have been present when this same exact thing happened but thankfully her child lived My friend even 20 years later could not talk about it. She was so ashamed and frustrated her brain clearly wasn’t fully functioning. I also was with them and I forgot! We weren’t used to having him with us. Both tired from tag teaming feedings and were rushing. It’s something you can’t explain to yourself let alone anyone else. I would have never forgiven myself if this turned out like this poor child. The main reason someone goes to jail is to avoid others getting hurt. This woman is not a menace to society. She is paying for her error everyday knowing she did this. I understand the parents pain but just like any other accident it was an accident. If it was a car accident she would not be serving 17 years. I pray for all involved but I also pray this family finds forgiveness in their hearts. As this will always add to the pain of the loss of their beautiful child.
It's because it is 3rd degree murder, that he let her out on bond. She'll serve her time one way or the other - so it doesn't matter if it starts today or a month or two from now.
This is something I will never ever understand! I never forget, not intentionally left any of my kids in the car. If they fell asleep in the car, I did my best to unstrap them and bring them in the house still asleep, but that didn’t always happen. I understand she wasn’t her baby….but essentially 15-20 minutes of being in the car after picking her up??? How do you forget???? I can’t comprehend.
During the verdict she continuously blinks at a rapid pace. She still is not able to process that she is guilty of murdering a baby. Her negligence is nothing but murder
The babysitter overdid it. No one should watch more than two kids under 5 yrs old. I think she purposely left the baby girl in the car, while she unloaded stuff, when it was still cool out. Then she likely got on the phone, played with the other two toddlers, played phone games, or fell asleep. She may have been in the habit of doing this. Did they check for any meds, drugs, alcohol? While I don't think she planned this, but I think she was negligent and must be held responsible for the baby's deth. I think we need more laws to prevent one lone babysitter taking on so many babies and toddlers.

@ChantalMaujean she didn't leave the baby in the car because the baby was sleeping. She forgot she picked up the baby shortly after picking her up. It had nothing to do with her sleeping. She completly forgot she was there. Why does everyone keep saying that??
Sorry to parents in this horrific tragedy resulting in the loss of their beautiful daughter.
She Refused a Drug test I would've found her Guilty.
ABSOLUTELY
She refused a drug test?!?! Yep, she was on meds 💯
Yes she was on drugs I bet!!! Big problem in this country! They pass out for hours from meth! She did something hidden from this trial!
@@Lorri-dr4ftmeds???? Likely meth! Passed out for 5 hours from a hit!

She would have had more respect if she had admitted everything and taken a deal - rather than put this family through a trial, essentially reliving the whole thing all over again. She knows she was responsible, why go to trial?? All that crying noises she made and not one tear came out !!
That was my question, did they offer a deal? She should have taken it, if they did.
I think they offered her the maximum
They offered her 30 years, blame the state because that’s a ridiculous offer

I'm sick of her fake crying. She didn't forget to use her phone, but she she forgot about the innocent baby in the car.
And not just her phone but used it to talk crap about the woman who’s house you’re in. She was basically talking behind her back about her time mgmt 😒
So much for her great reputation. At the end of the day, she caused the death of a child. End of story!
Not just that, she used the phone to contact the baby's mother and aunt and still never realized she forgot their baby in the car 🤦🏾♀️
May you never be in a situation where you may be accused of fake crying.
Holy moly, the amount of people in the comment section who have never effed up anything in their entire lives is astounding!!!
Prayers to both families 💔
I feel for everyone here. There was no malice in this woman’s heart yet at the end of the day, a sweet baby died due to her negligence. I see her tears as genuine, her heartache as consuming. But for the parents, there is an eternal loss and they deserve the solace of seeing some legal accountability. What a sad, awful situation.
Well said
NO malice are you kidding. She murdered a baby. She is a horrible person.
@DieScreaming thanks for letting me know that. She murdered a baby.
She could have been on drugs! She refused a drug test! Very sus! I have zero empathy for her!
@@DieScreaming take your gibberish elsewhere. Thank you

How do you forget a child?

Yes she did I don't Believe the other lady was OK with her bringing a 10 month to her home to be babysitting. She left the baby trying to hide her that why she Texted "she's gone".and forgot the baby.
Found guilty. You’re free to go until further notice. Why aren’t they put into custody when the guilty verdict is announced?
Because she's not a threat to anyone else.
@@Mewsette1 but guilty nevertheless.
@@Mewsette1You don’t know that. Nobody thought she’d be a threat to a child either…
She was taken into custody as the judge said. Only way she would be released until sentencing was if the bond company would sign off on it which is unlikely. She didn’t just ‘walk out’ of court afterwards.
@@Genesis38Toh, thank you for clarifying.
My heart goes out to all of the individuals involved. I can't imagine the guilt the babysitter is facing for the rest of her life, as well as the grief of the babys family. Prayers for everyone!

She was a little bit
This babysitter, friend of the family, close friend, I just don’t believe she did this on purpose. I honestly believe she forgot…
I said the same thing.
Did it ever come out why she asked the mother "what door are you at?" The mother always went to the same door. Day in, day out.
She likely remembered that the baby was forgotten when mom was knockingn and then calling and wanted to get to the baby first. So she hoped mom was at a different door and not the front door..
How the heck she gets bonded out until sentencing!!
She's not a threat to society
She deserves every bit of what she has coming to her! Her shaking and seeming sick after the verdict was read is 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 in comparison to what that little girls family is going through! They will never get to hold their daughter again, witness all the growth through her years or watch her walk down the aisle to get married! Sending so much love and comfort to this family 💞 and may the guilt and heaviness of this whole crime sit with the accused for a lifetime ⚖️

Also IN FLORIDA ⁉️⁉️⁉️
And nothing compared to the pain and suffering of the little girl left to die in a hot car - unimaginable.😢
It's wasn't malice......
What if this murder escapes while not taken in?
It seems she was more focused on gossiping and talking bad about the woman she was watching the three children for, messaging the baby's mother minutes after she got there but forgot the baby in the car... she's a nasty person, it seems. Her fake crying and breathing was ridiculous on the stand. I'm sure it was unintentional but I hope she gets a hefty sentence. My heart breaks for the sweet baby's family.
Yes, I agree. Why was she bad mouthing her, I didn't really understand the text. Surprising, what was that meant to mean?
The fact that she texted with the mother should show you she forgot. Otherwise she would have said something about the baby is sleeping or whatever. This wasn’t her normal day to have her. Show her some mercy - she made a horrible mistake.
@@kimfauth9542she wouldn’t want the mom to know she left her sleeping in the car. No one would admit to that if they were being paid to watch a child.
@kimfauti h9542
@kimfauth9542 The fact that she texted the mother and video chatted with the aunt and still didn't remember the child is crazy to me! Like OP said, she was too busy gossiping instead of focusing on her job/responsibilities that day.

Unforgivable neglect.
My heart goes out to the parents not only for the loss of their very beautiful baby but the fact they were made to go through this extreme heartbreak all over again. 💔🙏🏼
I believe she left her in the car because she was asleep and then forgot about her. She could talk to the mom minutes later and not think of her because she knew she was in the car, total neglect
I totally agree with you !
I totally agree. She has done this before as well. The baby probably wakes up if she removes her from the car so she lets her sleep and then goes and gets her. She doesnt wanna deal with her waking up. She probably forgot around 9am.
agree with this 100% I think that's really when she forgot about her, not when she arrived at the house, like she wants everyone to believe.
A baby left alone in a car in the summer in Florida?!? Unless this woman has lost touch with reality, she knew without question what was going to happen. Such a horrific end for an innocent little baby, it just makes me sick.
My kids fell asleep many times in the car and were still asleep when we got home, I never once left them in the car , that’s no ok!!

Terribly sad! I’m in agreement how could she not remember the child after the first text?! Prayers for all families.
EXACTLY. If she had genuinely forget the child, this would have reminded her to go get the baby. It was her habit to leave the baby in the car for as long as possible so she could be on her phone texting and scrolling. On this particular day, she left her in the hot car too long.
So very sad for all involved, prayers to both families. I feel and fear she will end up taking her own life. ❤

What is your definition of negligence? Listen carefully to the prosecutor’s explanation of the various charges the jury must consider.
An accident is when a kid wets their pants. That’s what Rhonda did after the parboiled baby was discovered. 🔥🥵😱
I’ve never understood and maybe never will but how do you forget about a child in a car
This is just so sad for everyone...
It’s horrible when headlines sensationalized the truth. She’s not a murderer. She did not murder that sweet little baby. Though her actions caused the death of the baby, does not make her a murderer.
By definition:
To 'kill' means to make someone or something die.
As a parent I would check on my babies every 5 min and especially if everything is very quiet !
I saw an insane ad on somewhere the other day where they tell you to put something important in your car so you don’t forget your child ? I would have thought the child was the most important thing 🤷♀️
What a terrible tragedy and loss for the parents. Such a precious little child.
Why does she get to remain out on bond??
I'm wondering the same thing. She faces life in prison and is a convicted murderer! It makes me think she's not going to get much time at all
The minimum sentence is 10.333 years and maximum is 15 years for 3rd degree murder in Florida. You're mistaken.
@kgrimes842 10.333 year minimum and 15 year maximum for 3rd degree felony murder in florida. Not life. Which means she could be out in less than 9 years if she gets minimum sentence
Because she was not a threat to society or flight risk.
I dont see her shaking like the title suggests
I don’t think she meant to hurt the baby but prayers for everyone involved and may that baby rest in peace :(
I think she did. How do you forget a child in the car?

I looked it up. She must serve a minimum of 10 yrs. and maximum of 15 for 3rd degree felony murder, which is what she was found guilty of.
Child .
It's so heartbreaking
No excuse for that babysitter
Verdict would be manslaughter here in UK. We don't have third degree murder at present. Poor baby girl. Pray for her parents
What is the sentence for third-degree murder
up to 15 yrs
And she’ll only do the minimum 5 years, cuz she has no criminal record smh she deserves at least 20

@@donmoore7785why should she get to spend holidays with her family? The baby doesnt get to
This is something I will never ever understand!
