What you get when you combine Freddie Mercury and George Michael and add a little tan? SURESH! :) A mustache, an earring yaaass guurl, it's a look! And of course Ken doll is the star of this collection.
I do like these dolls ..wish the fashionista dolls were also made to move..love the body now but had to get used to it..My only complaint is I wish the dolls had different bust sizes..they all tend to look slightly a bit older teens... but love the fashion especially the turtleneck dress..love it! 😁✌
Thank you again for your generosity in making and sharing your videos. 🙏 I really enjoy them. I got the man bun Ken as soon as I found out that he existed in the world.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have been eyeing these dolls, and before you posted this video I broke down and ordered two of them. I didn't order any of the ones you were sent, these three are actually my least favorite of the collection. I had to have the green-haired Ken and the girl with the braids though. I am going to get the Pazette faced doll with the clear vinyl jacket at some point too, she's very cute as well. This is a really neat concept, and this has enticed me to purchase a new Mattel Barbie doll for the first time in a long time, so yay! :)
Siansonea Orande nice! Glad you’re enjoying them. I was curious to hear your thoughts. And I love that you’re not a doll snob and that you’re always up for trying what’s new 😘😘
@@SureshNYC Oh yeah, I'm definitely not a doll snob. For years and years, I was considered an oddball by the larger doll collecting community because I loved 70s and 80s Barbie dolls just as much as Vintage and Mod. Twenty or so years ago, 'serious' Barbie collectors considered SuperStar era dolls to be cheap garbage, but now they're enjoying a renaissance. But I never cared how cool those dolls were or were not. I've always collected what appealed to me, and as often as not, the so-called low-end dolls have been just as appealing as the extravagant and expensive dolls. And now I'm even revisiting the much-maligned 90s playline dolls, and finding them charming. In a lot of ways, this BMR1959 is reminding me of the early 90s United Colors of Benetton dolls, a line I recently rediscovered and fell in love with, even though I was underwhelmed by them back in the day when they first came out. Sure wish I'd had the presence of mind to track down the Teresa doll from that series back then...
I like the man bun doll better than green hair Ken, however, I am still going to buy him because he's part of the collection AND he's made to move. I grew up with the straight leg Barbie (showing my age 🙂) and have waited 55 years for a made to move Barbie line. I was trilled when Living Barbie came out but my mother couldn't buy her (I eventually bought a 'new' one a few years back) so I had to enjoy the Barbie's that were available over the years. Then Mattel made the Made to move line and I was in heaven. Then FINALLY they created a Ken who is made to move. I hope they make more Ken dolls with the made to move bodies.
If they come out with these with a bit more of a classic fashion I'll be ALL over them. I mean...I've been buying these too because I love the posability factor and that each is unique, but I often redress them.
I'm so so glad they sent you these dolls. The boys are the first to have M2M articulations. Whoohoo, hopefully, this will be a new trend for ken dolls. One can only hope. hugs hugs hugs debs from Texas
I bought two of the dolls. I received the male doll Mattel sent you and the curvy doll still has to arrive. I love the made to move dolls and I'm trying to get all of them. I'm still missing the Puma dolls but that's only because of the expense. The BMR1959 dolls are more reasonable. I was thrilled that Mattel FINALLY gave Ken a made to move body. I've waited for this since I was a little girl. 🙂 I love fully possible dolls, especially male dolls. I always wanted Ken to be fully possible but G J Joe had to take his place until now.
I'm not a big fan of the articulated bodies either but, I do like the Ken. Love the man bun. Very nice face. I'd buy him. Thanks for the review. I'm very happy to see Mattel acknowledging you.You definitely deserve that.
I really appreciate this in-depth review that you gave us. I was lucky to find most of these dolls on sale last month. I wonder if more dolls will be added to this series. Anything that Carlyle Nuera designs is sure to be a hit!
I love these dolls so much. I see now why Mattel is focusing on the fashionista line becuase their high level collector dolls are not selling enough.. I meanj have you seen the recent released silkstone? It's a very plain black dress like she's ready to attend a funeral or something.. Not to throw shade here, just being honest
You are rocking that mustache, so fa-bu-lous! Thank you for your honest review, I tend to collect 90's collectible Barbie and play and pose with fashionistas. I was looking into them for some time, and after your review I ordered 2 of them. So looking forward for the Ken to arrive :) xox
Nice seeing these up close. I only got the two Kens, but I haven't unboxed this one yet. You are selling me on the curly haired Barbie though. The fashions aren't really my style for the most part, but I appreciate the pieces that are well made.
These are super cute! I'm a 90s child too and definitely remember some of the oversized and bright primary colored fashions. You're tempting me to get a couple. I like the dark skin diva and the cutie with the braids. The knee joints are very off-putting lol, but I can let them pass for this collection. Great review love!💖
Nice review! I’ve only purchased man-bun Ken so far... he was the most intriguing for me, and the 1st Ken I’ve added to my collection in many years... sadly, I may have to exchange him for a new one, as mine has small marks on the bridge of his nose ☹️ I’m more or less in agreement with you on the fashions and construction... will wait to see if the rest of the line is discounted later, though the price point isn’t bad now. I’m a fan of the M2M body, especially for Ken, so this is a BIG plus for me! 😍😍😍
Hey there! I hope you're well and safe. I recently saw your review for King of the Crystal Cave Ken Doll and I thought he was gorgeous. I do appreciate the articulation, however, I do not like the black painted arms. So I thought maybe I could do a body swap with this Ken doll from the BMR1959 Collection. Can you tell me if they have a matching skintone? Thank you =)
Not sure if you have done this already, but if you haven't, I have an answer. I did a body swap. The body swap is almost the same color as King of the Crystal Cave. I will note that the skintone of the head is literally white. So it's not an exact match to the pale BMR body, but it's close enough to where it'll be fine. Unless you are a stickler for detail, it's something that can be ignored. Not only did I do that for the Crystal King, I did it for my Twilight boys as well*. *Note: not a big fan of the franchise, but I wasn't going to say no to adding more male dolls to my collection lol. I should also point out that the dark skin BMR doll (the green hair one) is almost the same skin tone as the Jacob doll. The head is slightly darker, but like the other one, it's not a huge difference so it can be ignored.
I want to talk about these dolls that you reviewed but Im just really sad now that Robert Best is leaving mattel and BFMC is to release its last collection next year.. To think that silkstone is the only thing i like about mattel now is really heartbreaking... I love mattel and and its just so aching that we are left with these types of barbie dolls... carlile nuera is a great designer but he hasnt design anything yet that i went gaga with.
Belnardo Castelo well they’re not for everyone but clearly Barbie’s high fashion niche wasn’t resonating with their audience. And it seems like this direction is doing well since streetwear inspired fashion is pretty much no.1 everywhere.
Renee Hansen A few other people have said that and I’m trying to figure out if that’s a compliment or an insult because FM was kind of creepy looking lol. Either way, thanks 💖
The made to move bodies are fantastic. Especially, FINALLY a made to move KEN. Also REAL hair and not molded hair. Maybe it is me, but there is too much logo on all the clothes. By the way, I love your mustache. I like nice neat facial hair.

Suresh as always your reviews are spot on, enjoyable and complete. Thank you for taking the time to do such a great job but as far as these dolls they are a major pass. IMO they scream playline and to me not at all appealing.
