    What fond memories. The one that stands out above all, is when me and 3 of my high school friends won tickets on KMET 94.7 to see KISS perform in concert next to Colossus back in 1978 at Magic Mountain. They were filming a TV movie for NBC titled: “ KISS meets the Phantom of the park”. It was a rather corny movie, but none the less at that time KISS was probably the hottest band on the planet. Fun times!

    I moved to canyon country in 79 and it was the only thing to do then in that area. I went to high school there and lived my teenage years there. I came across my magic mountain pass from 1981! I 'am 45 now, a lot of memories for me there....thank you

    My uncle picked the site for Magic Mountain, named it, and was the President there. He gave me hard-hat tours while it was under construction. I was there the first day that it opened to the public.
    You are to be commended for the wonderful pictures that you have put together here, and for the great music as well!!!!
    Thank you for this!!!

      @@lauragideon3392 I don't specifically recall those characters, but what I do know, is that the Warner Bros. characters, (Bugs Bunny in particular) were licensed to Magic Mountain in the 1971 (first year.) I have a pic of my uncle superimposed standing next to the skytower alongside Bugs Bunny. I also believe that in one of the newspapers, on opening day, there is someone in a Bugs Bunny costume cutting the ribbon to initiate the opening of Magic Mountain, amongst a crowd of people. My uncle is in that picture as well. My hat icon has the original logo of Magic Mountain, that my cousin designed, and was used in 1971, and 72. The hardhat is my uncle's hardhat that he wore during the construction of Magic Mountain. He was known as "Doc" Lemmon (phoenitically pronounced LaMahn.) I have much documentation, and about Disneyland as well, since this same uncle was the 5th employee of Disneyland, hired in 1954, before construction even began on Disneyland. Can document via pictures, and articles, including a copy of a letter specifically addressed to my uncle from Walt Disney, dated January 17, 1961.

    Saw Little Richard play there in '74. There were maybe 6 of us in the audience, as he was considered a "has been" by then. He rocked it.

    This brings back some fond memories of growing in LA in the 1970s. I was just tall enough to get on the Revolution when it opened in 1976, and I remember my best friend going out the chicken exit at the last moment. After the ride, my dad and I (reluctantly) joined my friend and his dad on Gold Rusher. I still tease my childhood buddy about it :)

      Was entrance free and did you pay for rides. Or was it always like the Theme Parks today.

    • @pinball541
      @pinball541 3 года назад +2

      @@ItsIdaho- Magic Mountain was always a pay to enter park, & rides were included in the main gate admission. This is why Disneyland & Knott's Berry Farm cancelled their ticket books shortly after Magic Mountain opened. You also had to pay for parking also.👍

    Went there when it first opened. HOT HOT HOT!!! and NO SHADE because the trees were all newly planted. NO WATER FOUNTAINS, and soft drinks were $1.50 a pop and all you got was a small paper cup primarily ice! Everyone in the park were huddled under whatever small amount of shade they could find. Never forget it.

    Some of my fondest childhood memories were at Magic Mountain. Some of the other rides I I feel nostalgic for were Sarajevo bobsled, Enterprise, and I remember a strange one called Swiss twist in which plastered to the side of a bobsled while it went around in circles and the person you were riding with smashed you. I also remember a funicular like red car ride it went up a steep hill for a short distance but strangely there was always a long wait for it. the last time I was there I remember one of the Eagles flight stations was still there and also some of the monorail track as well. And I could have sworn there was a water ski show there at some point in time. It was fun walking up the stairs faster than the dragon would climb the slope.
    I'm glad the park is still there but it seems Six Flags doesn't have much respect for theme in theme park other than just a big collection of rides .

    Loved this place in the early and mid 70’s, so colorful and clean. I remember water shows and fireworks that they would shoot off and would explode directly overhead! Times have changed but the memories remain, thanks for posting. Does anyone remember the short kid movie they filmed there in the early 70’s about a kid being pursued by the Wizard or the Troll only because he left his hat on a ride? Have always thought about that show and have never seen it again.

Just a foundation, wood construction, wiring, lights and a door. Plus stole shitloads of materials I paid for and told them not to remove.
