The 70's were a peak moment in the U.S. There were certainly problems, but they paled in comparison to what we have to deal with now. Kids could roam wide and far in total safety, and there was a genuine sense of belonging and togetherness, a true national unity, but also very strong regional differences that made going to different states a real experience. I was born in 1969, but have very strong, lasting memories of the mid to late 70's. We didn't have much money, but neither did anyone else, and it didn't matter to us. The 70's was a great time to be a kid, and even better to be an adult. There was a warmth and vibrance to even everyday life that is long gone.

Watching this brings back fond memories of being a teenager in the 70's. But it also makes me sad the once great City of Los Angeles is now in shambles.
Got my Schwinn Corvette at 13 from Valley Cyclery on VN Blvd. near Erwin and Calvert streets. (the original location) My dad worked at Rancho Chev on Reseda Blvd. We live on Vanowen and Lindly. Casa De Cadillac, saw my first Caddy factory custom station wagon there while delivering parts. Wife is a CSUN alumnus. The Downs was originally race track for horses hence the "Downs" moniker. The "Bowl" season tickets. Also the most efficient traffic control I ever seen coming and going to. The one way parking lots are a great feature.

So true its not just old people looking back . There was an air of something special back then. Nobody stayed inside esp on weekends. Used to drive from SFV to Zuma 5 days a week early to hit the waves before my day started...69 SS Camaro was my daily. We all had em. Fri night couldnt get there soon enough, the excitement of what the night may bring.

Looks an absolute fantastic time .

Qudos to you guys who lived through these awesome times and places .
What a country !!!!!
If ever a time machine was invented, the 70's gotta be your first port of call.
After that, the 60's.
It was awesome, to the owner of this channel just wanted to say thank you so much and I do think you understand how much it means, just hit 60 myself, lived in Chatsworth Northwest corner of the San Fernando Vally.
I joined the Marines in 1981 and my first duty stations was SoCal/Camp Pendleton. I was 17 at the time, so yes I grew up there. Bought my first motorcycle and car there. A 1977 Honda 550 Four - 1977 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta. Then took off for Japan in 1983 for a couple of years.
I lived it! Born n raised in the SFV. I remember listening to KMET and cruisin Van Nuys Blvd. in HS in the 70’s!

No question we had damn good music in the 70s still. 1950s-1970s the best catalogue of music ever produced in world history! FACT! We still had some cool cars in the 70s too. 50s-70s produced some cool ass classic cars too.
I'm 69 now and remember all these places. It's hard to believe many of these people are grandparents now. Ooh. That's scary.
We grew up in anything is possible with the BEST music ever! thanks again...❤️

1979 car guy buddies and I drove our cars from Santa Barbara down to Van Nuys Blvd. We had some pretty fast cars at least in Santa Barbara but we saw some pro street cars on the Blvd. Some serious drag cars with license plates. Guys that worked for Ed Pink and Hank the Crank. Employees of the Super Shops and Service Center. I will never forget that night. Good old days. Carburetors and Moroso octane booster. Little bit of heaven KMET📡
Yes! St racing scene 4 nights a week even in the 80s in the valley
Really laid back crowd noone hassled us unless someone got out of hand. Dev devision cops of course knew the spots...after an hour they would ask us to move on....next spot an hour later same thing no biggie

I remember when "One of these Nights" came out.....wasn't the 60's but 1975. Jaws was playing.....remember going to watch John Wayne at the drive inns....Dad never missed John Wayne but Jaws was on the other screen.
