    I am a Christian and read from the Chumash with Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch commentary and Tanakh... along with the Septuagint and KJV with Dake annotations. My main Bible is the ESV Journal Bible for my own annotations. Having these 4 main books help in understanding God both from Judaism and Christianity views.

    Two books I highly recommend for Jews in particular. The Two Powers in Heaven by Jewish author Alan Segal and The Unseen Realm by ancient Near East biblical scholar and Semitic languages expert Dr Michael Heiser. The books are peer reviewed and absolutely FASCINATING

    I have Chumash ArtScroll and now I have bought Gutnick Chumash. I am due to receive it in mid-April. Hope I made a good purchase. It is a pity that there is very little Torah literature in Poland, especially on the Oral Torah, and I have to use English literature, but at least I am motivated to learn English. Shalom!

      @@JewishEducationatHome Thank you for your answer. There is a very good edition of Chumash Pardes Lauder translated by Rabbi Sacha Pecaric in Poland. His translation is like a Targum with numerous comments from the sages. However, in order to increase knowledge, you need to refer to English-language literature, which is quite limited and expensive. That is why I try to complete my library as much as possible. I am waiting longingly for Gutnick Chumash and when I start studying it I will share my opinion, and maybe I will have some questions, I hope you will help me. All the best.

      I already own the Chumash Gutnick Edition and I must happily admit that I am very happy with my purchase. First of all, I like the translation of the Torah text including the Oral Torah in parentheses, which allows you to better understand the text you are reading. And comments in the form of questions and answers, even discussions. Perfect for studying the Torah. And most importantly, for me, for whom English is a foreign language, it is written in a language that is quite understandable. Of course, it would be perfect if there was a Polish edition, but that's also good. Passover is approaching so I wish you and everyone Chag Pesach Sameach!

    Hi I found the video. As I am just starting out, I will probably, need to get the first book you recommended. Does it only have the book of Genius..? Do you think i should purchase all 5 books in one edition or is that to much After thinking. Thought I would edit my comment. I see why the books are separated. The books gives you commentary and translates bibical Hebrew into English. This gives me a deeper understanding. Looking forward to hear from you both. Thank you.

    curious, why the chumash with it's 5 books when you can get all 24 books with the tanakh?

    • @JewishEducationatHome
      @JewishEducationatHome  Год назад +1

      Good question! The Chumash with just the 5 books has way more commentaries and explanations than one with the whole Tanach. Also it’s good to use a Chumash if you’re focused only on learning the Parsha or the written Torah.

      The small print is the Onkelos commentary, and the large print is the actual Torah text.

    Could you explain what Chitas is? It’s my understanding that it’s Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya? Are they ever transliterated (still working on my Hebrew)? Can’t find any info by looking online. Thanks!

      Chitas is learning the daily Chumash, Tanya, and Tehillim. I know Tanya may be difficult to find because its a thing that Tanya is written like the Torah without nekudot. I will get back to you on the transliterations of Chumash and Tehillim, iyh. let me look around a bit. :)
