tip for picking a roommate !! ask ur potential roommate about their “lifestyle” for ex. what time they go to sleep, do they wake up early, do they workout, etc. it’ll help u decide whether or not you’d mesh well!
Kate Lee lol none taken, i feel like some ppl forget when ur talking to a bunch of different people. and if ur vibin sometimes u forget to ask before asking
this was insanely informative and probably the best college advice vid i’ve seen!! i’m also a rising sophomore in college, and i feel like these tips could apply to people even beyond freshman year, so thank you! i hope you have a great fall semester :))
I don't think there's a particular website. I would just use the Google search engine and type in "free pdf" followed by the title, author, and edition.
I know you from the 73 questions of an MIT students. And then I started to follow your channel.I love all your videos and your lifestyle.I don’t know why you always give me an expression of surprising composure. Haha
Yeah, if you go to MIT it's easy to change your major. Unfortunately, it's not that easy elsewhere, and often you really do need to decide in high school - especially engineering majors.
i don’t think this is necessarily true for many colleges, but in terms of admission it can benefit you to have an idea of your major; that way you can do courses and extracurriculars that demonstrate interest on your application. once you’re in though, it’s relatively easy at most schools to change programs! i’ve heard that impacted majors like engineering or nursing can be difficult though, as you said. really just depends on the school and major!
@@briang1310 Nice. I would love to go to Cambridge University because that was where Stephen Hawking went and I want to be a physicist when I grow up. I’m in 7th grade.
Nina can you do a video on your experience as an asian american in the United States? Do Asians like the black community or are they indifferent towards us?
hey nina! your videos help me so much but i’d like to know if being on a sports team or playing a sport in general i’m high school really matters. i’m definitely not athletic and i’m wondering if not doing a sport will affect my chances. i know that everyone has their pathway and no path is a definite ticket to college, but it seems like most accepted students play a sport really well. i’m a high school freshman so this is probably the wrong video to ask lol
Hello! So you're a sophomore now right? I'm a junior! I do volleyball and bowling! (thinking about joining another sport) for me personally, sports are a good way for scholarships. But they are not necessary!!!!!! You can get good scholarship and into good schools without sports! You can join clubs as well if you want! Or you can choose to just focus on school! I always recommend people join clubs to make friends and socialize but its not a necessity. If you want to join a sport later on go ahead! If you don't want to thats fine too! Colleges don't really care about sports(thats not %100 accurate, some colleges do favor those in sports that they can recruit) many look for your academics. Good GPA? Good SAT or ACT score? You'll likely find a college who will want you to go with them. Sports or no sports!
The ap credit transferred depends on the school. I took the ap tests for spanish, biology, chemistry, and physics m. My school didn’t give credit for Spanish but I got credit for everything else. I think it was totally worth it because all of the college classes will be difficult so it’s good to skip where you can. Cause the faster you get through general requirements, the faster you get to the more interesting classes.
Hey nina, gotta be honest I believe that you need to gradually start to change your channel content theme because "college content" is limited and it will bottleneck your growth.
Hey! Nina I am following you in LinkedIn and looking for a reasearch internship. Can you help me out of this. And I am high school student and have a great passion in biology.
Hello to anyone that knows the admission process for Stanford. I need your help. I'm a 13-year-old freshman and I would like any and all strategies that are going to increase my chances at Stanford. A brief summary of who I am: I was raised in an upper-middle-class family; however, my parents spoke little English and I grew up learning Vietnamese (my native tongue). I was born in Vietnam and moved to France at 5 years old. When I turned 9 my brother and I moved to California. I was put into remedial English (English Language Learners) for most of my elementary and middle school career; however, since then I have gained a decent enough grasp of English that I'm now in English Honors. I have a passion for learning and wish to become a neurologist. Classes: Pre Calc Honors English 1 Honors AP Chem ( I took bio and chem over the summer) French 3 Honors Intro to Computer Science Intro to business Christan Ethics Pe - Course 1 Extracurriculars: recently started science national honors society and neuromed at my school ( I'm the president of both) Vice President of UNICEF club and Key club (I got the positions because my brother is the president for both causing most of the members to be well associated with me already) Class of 2024 Student Body President I'm thinking of joining Tennis and Golf Test Scores: I took the psat 8/9 last year and got a 1440 which I believed is in the 99 percentile I don't remember any others on the spot but just know I'm usually good with tests.
A little bit late to your comment, but I think I may be able to help. Not going to an “technically” Ivy League but I have friends who are/have and I’m going to a top 10 engineering school. 1.)GPA/Rank- a lot of people will tell u different, but being in the top 1-2% which it sounds like you probably are will tremendously help w getting your foot in the door into most schools whether private or public. So choose your classes wisely. If your GPA is weighted, it may not be worth it to take that AP class where the teacher is known to constantly give out B’s to students. In this case, make friends with upperclassmen as much as possible. It may seem hard, but since it looks like your about 1-2 years ahead of your peers it will be easier. They are the key to selecting good clases to take and follow their advice. It especially helps if they are very studious as well. 2.) If you can really take one or both of the clubs that you run to the next level and achieve something important in either one that would be extremely helpful towards your goal. However, as a leader make sure that you elevate your members of the club to really show leadership. With this, you can write almost any Essay college prompt back to your club experience and how u achieved something of value for yourself and others. This demonstrates how great u are to the college. 3.) Do not get into the habit of constantly copying/cheating on assignments. I’m not saying you are but I promise that it will catch up to you. Whether you’re caught, or you get a bad grade, cheating never does you any good. Every once in a while is ok, stuff happens in life at home and you can’t do the HW, but make sure you understand what the concept is. Similar to this, don’t be everyone’s HW friend. You sound smart from what you listed as your credentials, other people will realize this as well and may (unfortunately) try and take advantage of it. For your homies who help u as well, it’s ok. But those randoms who only hit u up for HW/answers it’s not ok. 4.) Maybe not school related but pls have a life outside of school. Don’t be so caught up that life passes u by. You can be a valedictorian( #1 rank) /salutatorian (#2 rank) and still have a life. I know this Because I am sal. And the Val. At my school does things outside of school as well. It’s way too often that kids lose themselves while trying to get ahead. 5.) Always start applications for college early, pretty self explanatory but you don’t wanna have the stress of applications along with senior/junior year on you. If you have any questions j lmk and I gotchu. Hope this helps
