I upgraded from the 6 Plus to the X this past summer. I was tempted to wait until the fall when the XS was released. But in the end, I’m completely satisfied with the X.
Chris Cheung I think you could buy an X.. Probably check online because Apple has discontinued selling it. Or just update to the XS or XS Max.. Coming from the 6 Plus, it will be a worthy upgrade.

I upgraded from the 6S to the iPhone XS Max and honestly huge change but I have not one bad thing to say about the xs max. Battery life is literally incredible I can catch myself using my phone all day and not having to charge it until night - and I just love the features and Face ID is awesome as well. I am so happy I chose this phone it took a bit to get used to the size and no home button but just overall a good phone

My iPhone X burned up along with my Jeep when I flipped it so I went back to my 7 plus and all I got to say is wow apple’s quality is amazing this 7 on iOS 12 feels super smooth and fast, I jumped down but not too much only thing I can complain about is battery but it is 2 years old. I’ll probably stick with the 7 till next years iPhone or year after that cause this phone will definitely handle it

If you’re upgrading to the max from the X .. okay definitely understand but in all honesty this year wasn’t worth the upgrade. The X is still a beast all around and Apple knew that, why do u think they stopped selling the X? Because they knew if they still sold it especially at a lower price point people would buy that shit like it was ice cream. Yeah I’m not arguing the fact that the XS camera, the smart hdr enhancement is no joke, however... is it really that much better to grant an upgrade? In my opinion no, which is why I am happy with the X and honestly means more to me because of one of the facts that it’s the anniversary the first of its kind. Gimmicky I know but in all honesty the X being the anniversary edition does entice some people in terms of resell value.
Rob Navarro xs and max are for ip7 users next years will be for the ip8 and x users kinda smart if you think about it really notice galaxy models don’t have significant upgrades unless you look 2 generations back then it’s very significant

Thx for the update Aaron :) I'm certainly enjoying my first move to FaceID and gestures with the XS Max. I had the 6S Plus and this has gone to my wife who now also enjoys a larger screen having moved from my older iPhone 5 (not even the S model) lol.
I agree -- The build quality on my X felt a lot better than my XS Max... the stainless steel to glass is sharp, like you state, not as smooth as the X.. the X did feel more premium..

Upgraded from the 8 Plus to the XS Max. I think it was worth the upgrade. Better and bigger screen as well as the other specs. I do miss the Touch ID at times. 8 Plus is a great device still.
Hey Aaron, They mentioned the glass is different (better) on the XS /MAX. This could account for the different feel in the hand. Keep up the great work 👍
I recently got the xs max and it’s so beautiful and the camera is surreal. It’s a bit big and reachability can be cumbersome at times so if you have small hands you should get the xs or the xr instead. Also the Face ID is less convenient than Touch ID imo, because you have to stare basically directly at it for it to work. It works 70% of the time vs Touch ID working 90% of the time. I haven’t used it with food on my hands or sticky fingers yet so that could be where face ID inches up to 80%-85% accuracy.
My personal thought is the X had better build quality because Apple wanted to 1st gen to be flawless because everyone was annoyed at the price, do people really upgrade on an S year? I understand people wanting a bigger screen but I’m not one of them - I don’t want a big phone. As you said Aaron they are practically he same. I love my X especially now with IOS 12 works like a dream..

The XS camera is definitely better but I don’t understand why you hate the camera on the X . I love the camera on the X regardless if the XS does have a better camera.
I’m glad you pointed out that lip situation.. when I got my 6 Plus back in the stone ages, it had this issue and it would rip my hair out while I was on the phone.
I upgraded from an iPhone X to an XS Max, persuaded by the addition of gigabit LTE and Band 71. Frankly, however, my Android play phone is a V30 that still typically gets better signal capture and data speeds than the XS Max. I won’t give up the XS Max primarily because I am firmly entrenched in the ecosystem. But if you ask me, if you are happy with your iPhone X there is little reason to upgrade. :-)
I'm planning to switch back to iOS. Currently I am using a Pixel 2 XL. I have my eye on the iPhone XR as a replacement, and am looking forward to seeing the reviews!
I upgraded from a iPhone 6s to Xs and I’m very happy I waited an extra year:) phone is great and I got it 25% off for switching carriers! Great phone! And the Xs has a gold color the X does not come in which is phenomenal!

I upgraded from my 8Plus ... no regrets. Not a huge speed difference but.. it's noticeably smoother, camera is awesome, battery life is improved by at least an hour or two screen on time.. The screen is a major improvement over the 8Plus. I haven't dropped the phone (yet) but it seems to be more durable. If its from an iPhone X probably not worth it, but from anything older/lower down I definitely recommend it.
I’m in the same boat... I loved my 8+ but having the Max is a significant upgrade with the screen res, size, camera and new UI gestures. I dont regret. Only thing is I hope they bring back split pane landscape modes for more of the apps. I feel like there isn’t a lot of apps optimized for the Max just yet
completely agree with you on that one.. Also a little bothered by the #beautygate going on with the camera. Makes my iPhone feel like I purchased a Samsung with the beauty filter always on. My snaps are looking really whack with the front facing camera.
I upgraded from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone X and was completely happy with it. I’m on the iPhone Forever program with Verizon and see no drawbacks of upgrading. I’m not impressed by the iPhone XR all but the ability to get a BETTER iPhone X? Yes sir. And honestly, the size of the XS Max is awesome.
Great Comparison. I had tried out the XS Max for about a week and was not overly impressed with it. I returned and kept my X. Definitely not worth the upgrade from a X.
zollotech not true at all lol,the X battery would only get you about 3-4 hours on screen time. I still have mine and I had to charge it like 3x a day,I use alot of facetime and watch videos. With the Max,I just charge it once and sometimes twice

Ahmed Sherif the I’ve had the x, xr and xs. Besides the battery on the xr I think the Xs is a better choice if you’re looking to keep your phone for the next couple of years as it has an extra gig of ram than the x and xr.
Every speed test I’ve seen I’ve watched a few and the 10 is just as fast even faster in some cases I’ve had no problems with Face ID it’s just as fast as fingerprint as far as I’m concerned

The physical difference between the X and the Xs is on the bottom speaker openings. The iPhone X has symmetric openings on both sides of the lightning port !!
Aaron, You made a mistake . The middle one is iphone X , and the left one is the new iphone XS , because there is a new lock/unlock button in display&brightness with the new devices .
For someone who is a brand loyalist and has the moolah to go along with it, the entire exercise of the thought of upgrading from an earlier generation phone to a new one becomes a moot point, he would in any case do it. And specially in case of Apple, someone who buys an iPhone once, becomes so attached with the thought of the status symbolism an iPhone carries as well as with its close to perfect hardware and dedicated after sales service that inevitably he ends up upgrading, even more so by selling the previous generation model in case the pricing seems too high to him/her, the only people I feel who won't do so or don't do so are those who somehow dislike a certain generation phone or find something terribly amiss about their particular piece. That's only my viewpoint though and in no way an implication that the video is uncalled for!! But as usual, a wonderful collection of wallpapers to go along with the informative video!!
I am very satisfied with my X. I plan to stay put for some time to come. As far as the quality of sound goes, since I usually use my AirPods or my IEM, sound quality is a non-issue.
It’s simple, for a normal person with normal usage don’t upgrade from the X to the XS or XS max, if you have big hands and like big phones go from the X to the XS max and if you’re a tech fan that goes all out for Apple stuff and that has the extra cash go ahead: get the greatest and newest (like me XD)

The XS is everything the X should have been just as many apple S Editions before it. One thing that really makes this a reasonable upgrade is the significant video stability improvement. I am let down to spend a grand on a phone that wobbles the footage for any step!!!! One of the main sale points of the X is the camera. Because if this the XS is a sensible upgrade along with the IP68 rating.
I think regardless to speed. All of those phones will still be faster than my 6s. I will say my 6s is extremely fast with iOS 12. It’s the best software update in my opinion
I did it. I ordered an exchange iPhone XS and I’m sending back the Max. The main reason is I work on the go and while it’s beautiful when I’m home on my couch, it’s too big and cumbersome out and about. Somehow I make more typos on it. If I could do it over again I’d have kept my x another year and never upgraded. (Tried the XR first, btw) so I’ve had every new iPhone this year. The 5.8” is the perfect size and I’m planning on keeping the XS 2 years this time no matter what 2019-20 brings.
I went from an X to an XS Max. I’ve yet to find a difference in performance. Day to day use it’s exactly the same. The only and worthy reason to upgrade is that huge display 🥰
I know this is two years later but I have both phones and used both phones for a year and I’m making the switch back to the iPhone X. Tired of holding this heavy phone.

Really the only reason to upgrade from x to xs is to get the max or work related such as dual sim.

I don't recommend anyone to upgrade from X to Xs/Max. Wait for 11 or any next generation.

Yes, the XS Max will get you more battery life. However, compared to iPhones prior to the X, it has much better battery life.

Every speed test I’ve seen I’ve watched a few and the 10 is just as fast even faster in some cases I’ve had no problems with Face ID it’s just as fast as fingerprint as far as I’m concerned

The X line has its advantages. I wouldn’t recommend upgrading x to xs but I would recommend upgrading from the x to xs max.

The physical difference between the X and the Xs is on the bottom speaker openings. The iPhone X has symmetric openings on both sides of the lightning port !!

For someone who is a brand loyalist and has the moolah to go along with it, the entire exercise of the thought of upgrading from an earlier generation phone to a new one becomes a moot point, he would in any case do it. And specially in case of Apple, someone who buys an iPhone once, becomes so attached with the thought of the status symbolism an iPhone carries as well as with its close to perfect hardware and dedicated after sales service that inevitably he ends up upgrading, even more so by selling the previous generation model in case the pricing seems too high to him/her, the only people I feel who won't do so or don't do so are those who somehow dislike a certain generation phone or find something terribly amiss about their particular piece. That's only my viewpoint though and in no way an implication that the video is uncalled for!!

I am very satisfied with my X. I plan to stay put for some time to come. As far as the quality of sound goes, since I usually use my AirPods or my IEM, sound quality is a non-issue.

Nice comparison, I’ll stick with my X, there’s absolutely no reason for me to upgrade.
It’s simple, for a normal person with normal usage don’t upgrade from the X to the XS or XS max, if you have big hands and like big phones go from the X to the XS max and if you’re a tech fan that goes all out for Apple stuff and that has the extra cash go ahead: get the greatest and newest (like me XD)

Hey Aaron, Just wondering what wireless setup are you currently using? For my home I love using the Ubiquiti UniFi wireless setup - USG Pro 4, UniFi Gigabit PoE+ Switch, Cloud Key Gen2, and a mix of UAP-AC-Pros and UAP-AC-HD units.
I use eero normally. While I have managed ubiquity setups in the past I prefer the simple set it and forget it management for the home.

This is more like a Screen review. 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😴🤥
The XS is everything the X should have been just as many apple S Editions before it. One thing that really makes this a reasonable upgrade is the significant video stability improvement. I am let down to spend a grand on a phone that wobbles the footage for any step!!!! One of the main sale points of the X is the camera. Because if this the XS is a sensible upgrade along with the IP68 rating.
I think regardless to speed. All of those phones will still be faster than my 6s. I will say my 6s is extremely fast with iOS 12. It’s the best software update in my opinion

I did it. I ordered an exchange iPhone XS and I’m sending back the Max. The main reason is I work on the go and while it’s beautiful when I’m home on my couch, it’s too big and cumbersome out and about. Somehow I make more typos on it. If I could do it over again I’d have kept my x another year and never upgraded. (Tried the XR first, btw) so I’ve had every new iPhone this year. The 5.8” is the perfect size and I’m planning on keeping the XS 2 years this time no matter what 2019-20 brings.

I went from an X to an XS Max. I’ve yet to find a difference in performance. Day to day use it’s exactly the same. The only and worthy reason to upgrade is that huge display 🥰
I know this is two years later but I have both phones and used both phones for a year and I’m making the switch back to the iPhone X. Tired of holding this heavy phone.
