Before you decide to buy or are quick to judge...DO WHAT I DID: I went to the Apple store and put all three phones (XR, XS, XS Max) together and ran about 6 videos simultaneously. Brightness turned all the way up and True Tone turned off on all 3 devices. The sales associate at the apple store even helped me with this. Honestly...they all looked the same to the naked eye. Most ppl if any wouldn’t even notice the difference. I was surprised how the XR did and in some aspects I thought it did better than the XS Max on certain scenes. The XS and XS Max did look better on the home screen. If you care about build quality, no bezel, 3D Touch and want to brag about having the better phone then buy the XS or XS Max. Build quality doesn’t necessarily matter to me cause I’ll be using a case. The bezel I’ve stopped noticing was even there. To me the size of the XR is perfect. And the battery life is awesome. That’s why I chose the XR.
Lmao you must be blind... I'm not saying the difference in resolution because at a proper distance you don't see the difference but the contrast of the oled is huge
I was playing around with the XR I didn't see any differences because it has different colors and a LCD screen big deal I'll choose this over the premium iPhones been there and done that I haven't seen anything that would be a deal breaker for the iPhone XR
Tried out the Xr for a couple weeks and the battery life was absolutely fantastic, but I had to return it because it was too wide and too heavy. The display size is closer to the XS but the width of the phone is much closer to the XS Max, which made it a pain to use one handed. If anyone out there is still struggling to decide between the two, ask yourself how important a phone's size and weight is to you.
myNEONCITY I agree completely had a plus size phone couldn’t stand the size. Now I have the xs and I love the size to me it’s the perfect size. I didn’t want the xr because the fact it was a bigger phone.
I have small hands so the Xs appeals to me, I handled the xr at the store and it just seemed so heavy. My problem is deciding what color to get between the silver and space gray.

Some things he didn't mention. The 3D-touch feature has been in every iPhone after the 6s aside from the iPhone SE. This is a pressure sensitive feature that is replaced by what Apple is calling Haptic touch. Haptic touch is just a fancy word for long pressing where you would use 3D-touch but it doesn't have all of the same uses. The "zoom lense", that the iPhone XR is lacking, is the telephoto lens. A telephoto lense is used for long distance photos and portrait photos. It's true that it doesn't make much of a difference getting rid of it, but all of the new phones coming out (even rumored for the next iPhone) has 3 or at least 2 lenses.
Honestly, XS is great But i prefer XR bc of battery power i have money for both but when i study the two phone i rather take longer battery power any day bc when someone has XS and want show off XR has the last laugh when XS display show is over lol
I got the XS Max when it was launched and I would recommend people to wait for another year. It's a great phone but I guess XR would be better choice as of now because we are paying a lot of extra money for little feature upgrade.
I choose the xs because of the gold color that matches the gold stainless steel watch perfectly! The xr is a better value, but wished they made a gold color option.
For me, the 3d touch, and display are not worth the extra $250 starting. I prefer battery life over display any day. Switching from my S9 to the iPhone XR real soon 😁
Christopher Niceley it’s not just 3D Touch. You’re getting a higher resolution/ppi display. You’re getting 4gb of ram vs 3gb of ram. Dual lenses. Ip68 vs ip67. Stainless steel band vs aluminum band. Thinner bezels. Having said that, the XR is a great phone but I chose the XS Max
I consider myself as being a tech guy and I have no problem with my XR. I know android phones offer better value, however privacy means more to me than any amount of money.
How are the texts on 3rd party apps? Is it still fuzzy or blurry? Planning to buy one for myself this christmas but i saw it side by side w/ the 8plus and it looked ok. Not great. Felt llike being ripped of by apple. And what if they release a 1080p xr next year im gonna be bummed lol
Android phones don't offer better value. You pay for what you get. They cost about the same for similar quality. I have a OnePlus and it definitely feels like a budget phone compared to iPhones. The newer Oneplus phones may seem improved upon previous versions, but that is because the price keeps going up and their cameras are still crap.

I'm finally upgrading my iphone 7 plus but couldn't justify paying the price for the latest version but also had my reservations for the XR version. This video definitely cleared things up for me and my decision to go with the XR is totally worth saving the money without sacrificing too much based on my personal preference and usage of the iphone overall.

I am watching this with my XS on September 2021 after iPhone 13 released. I don’t regret buying iPhone XS 3 years ago. I can still use this phone for another 2 years.
I have the Xs and love it! Personally I see nothing wrong with the Xr tho. I really like the water resistance with the Xs because it’s quite rainy where I live and I’ve already lost a phone because of the rain causing water damage.
Coming from an XR and trading my mom for her XS which she bought brand new and didn’t like the size I noticed that the battery is significantly better on the XR than the XS but the camera and screen are miles ahead on the XS. XS is hands down more slippery than the XR as well.

I bought the XR and love it. Battery life is f’n awesome! Lasts me at least a day and a half before having to charge again. I like the size of the XR too, I really don’t have any complaints about the display either: I think it looks great. Thought I’d miss the 3D Touch but I really don’t, I like the haptic touch
I have had my iPhone XR for a little over a month. It was an upgrade from an iPhone 6. Generally, the phone is very good, much quicker than the 6 and definitely has a better camera. The 2 downsides, or at least disappointments to me are the size, and the battery life.The size is just too large. I really wanted the XS size, but not it's price. The second is battery life. I was expecting tremendous battery life, but at this point, it won't last as long as my iPhone 6. My 6 had a battery replacement back in January and I was able to use it for 3 days before having to charge it at around 25%. The XR, using the phone exactly the same way, only lasts 2 days before I need to charge. Actually, I find the screen on the XR quite pleasing. Overall, I think it's a pretty good phone.
I tried the XR for a couple weeks and I had amazing battery life. It would routinely last me 3 days. When I checked the battery stats I was at 21% and had a combined total of 7.5 hours of SOT over that 3 day period, and I didn't charge it at all. If you aren't getting SOT like this I would suggest you return it for another one. My 6 and 7 NEVER lasted this long. They would barely last a day. Having said that I couldn't deal with how wide and heavy the phone was so I returned it for the XS.
HALWG51 your 6 lasted 3 days of battery life?? I had the 6s, I had gotten a new battery and within 4 minutes I was loosing 60% in 30 min. I upgraded to the XR and I used 2% in an hour
If battery life was exactly the same as iPhone XR I probably would’ve choose the XS max if I knew that battery information before. but the XR hands-down has the best battery right now. I’m glad I made the right choice for me anyway. And I still have $300 extra in my pocket.

The screen is what you look at so it should make you decide on what to buy. 1080p should be the basic bottom line for a display not 720p. Plus no 3D Touch you might as well go back to iPhone X or 8. Why would you upgrade to go backwards. And yes I have the iPhone X’s max. Upgraded from the 7.
Basically if you want to spend MORE money on a phone that has unnecessary features go with the Xs lol. More battery life is what sold it for me. #Xr gang.
I recently upgrade to XR from 6s. believe me, the display is not a big deal. the pictures are sharp and the A12 chip is fast. For regular use the battery runs for almost 2 days.
Shane Monaghan not really lol 😂 the screen is miles ahead on the Xs I’ve had the XR for 8 months before I gave it to my mom and I’ve noticed almost immediately that the screen is more vibrant and the phone is a lot more snappier all around.

I went from a iPhone 7 to XS. I was hesitant because of the price but the XS seems to be a better phone than XR (in my opinion). There has been mix reviews about the XR, the display is not as sharp and it doesn't have an OLED . If you have an iPhone 8Plus at the moment, stick with it and don't upgrade yet !
Switched from S8 to XR white 256gb, love the buttery smoothness and better optimised apps~ a bit draw back from the screen but the screen is actually quite good on XR and less strain on my eyes compared to S8
So I have been to an Apple Store today and spent quite a while comparing the xr and the xs, especially the displays. Of course you notice a difference when you directly compare the two devices, but honestly, in my opinion that difference is not worth the extra money the xs costs (not to mention the insanely expensive xs max). The screen of the xr is very, bright, colours are very accurate (of course black is not as black as at the xs but still good) and it's quite sharp. Can't understand why so many people are hating the display only based on the specs. I will buy the xr and I'm very excited for it! Also, very good video 👍🏽
I have an XS, and have for three years now. My brother has an XR. Honestly, in 2022, both phones work pretty much the same. The only thing that I have noticed that is different is the battery life, which it is actually better on my XS but that is after three years of use and both have gotten shorter over time. The other thing is the size difference, which is really down to personal preference. I enjoyed this review, very informative with no useless information.
@@not_asha.9881 They are very similar. Apart from camera, screen size and battery life there is really little difference when using them. I’d probably recommend the XR, just because it is easier and cheaper to get. It’s probably not worth spending more on the XS, in 2022.

Both phones are ridiculously expensive. The XR is not worth anywhere near 750. Hence the reason apple is offering 300 off if you trade in an old iPhone 7plus. The screen is okish for texting and emailing etc. When you play a hd video YOU will notice just how poor it is. It's a discrace that apple charge flagship prices for this phone and then use 2010 technology for the screen. And the bezels are really thick compared to the X's. To me if you have to have an iPhone, you'd really be better with the iPhone 7 or 8 range. Great phones. Cheaper and gave the old touch button on the front. They are still powerful enough at the moment and can keep their own with the newer models.
I’m still rocking my X. This has been the first year where I wasn’t sold on upgrading my device. But if I had to choose I would go with the XS over the XR.
I had both an iPhone Xs Max and an iPhone Xr for a week. I ran comparisons daily - mostly with the camera and video playback. While I love the form factor and design of the Xr I ended up keeping the Xs Max. Taking photos side by side, at the same time with exact conditions or back to back so the angle and lighting are identical, the Xs Max outperformed the Xr in low light everytime. The Xr always had more noise. And I found when I record in HDR, I’d like to play it back that way. I hardly ever use a computer for viewing any content. Because photography, especially low light, is very important to me and I like HDR playback I’ve returned the Xr.
MyLifeForAuir87 the second telephoto lens is mostly used for the 2x zoom anyway. Also, you produce better portrait shots with the XR because it uses the main sensor letting in more light and has a wider field. The XS and XS max rely on the telephoto and not its main sensor. Facepalm

Jesse Pinkman If OLED is worth 250$ then go for it, the resolution is meaningless when you can’t tell the difference from 1 foot away from the screen and I would argue aluminum will hold off better with scratches and use with time than stainless steel.

I see no reason to donate an extra $500 to Apple. They are the same in basic specifications, but Apple has nothing to offer over other phones other than iOS. Had 6+, which Apple has lied and cover up over its problems. Purchased the Xr fully loaded, hopefully will last a long time.

Remember XS is less likely to break against water, it has stainless steel around it so it’s less likely to damage, 3D Touch and it fits in pocket better. *i’m not calling XR bad. It’s a good phone. I’m just saying which I think better. XD

Truth be told; the XS feels a lot more premium than the XR. The build quality is amazing, whereas the XR feels like a classic iPhone. Not to mention the display, some may say there isn’t much difference but believe me, there is! Watching the XR’s display feels like watching a blown out iPhone 6s, which isn’t bad but the XS’s OLED is straight eye candy.
I have the xr in my hubby xs I see no difference don’t matter no way cuz I got good credit so I got both phones free with at&t in I get a upgrade every year so I’ll be getting the new one soon as it comes out anyways a xr xs be glad you have a phone period we fuss over the dumbest shit!
Ive had iphone 6s, 7plus, iphone x and iphone xs max. I now have the xr and the xr is the best device ive had from iphone. Dont listen to all the negative reviews about the display as ive had the xs max and you can tell a difference unless you hold the phone 1 cm away from your eyes. The bezels are thicker but you dont even notice them after a few minutes. The xr and xs have the same a12 chip and as the xr is lower res the battrey will last 2 days easily were the max lasts 1 day before charging. The only downside is the xr doesnt have 3d touch but this is a very small sacrifice for the better battrey life. I give the phone a 9.5/10 and its half the price of the max
I’ve been using apple since the iPhone 4 and honestly the xr is overall the best yet. I’ve been using it for a month now. I’ll admit coming from the 6 I had to get use to the size but when comparing it to the x, xs and the 6 it’s perfect size. Apple definitely jump ahead when it comes to the xr size. In a year it’s going g to be considered small.

xr display is low-end. i'll notice that any second when using it. no thanks. oled high res, high ppi, hdr support for me. also much better camera.

Ur privacy is protected in Android as well. In Android u have the option to download from browsers so ur security can be compromised. That's it

I have the Xs and love it! Personally I see nothing wrong with the Xr tho. I really like the water resistance with the Xs because it’s quite rainy where I live and I’ve already lost a phone because of the rain causing water damage.
Coming from an XR and trading my mom for her XS which she bought brand new and didn’t like the size I noticed that the battery is significantly better on the XR than the XS but the camera and screen are miles ahead on the XS. XS is hands down more slippery than the XR as well.

I bought the XR and love it. Battery life is f’n awesome! Lasts me at least a day and a half before having to charge again. I like the size of the XR too, I really don’t have any complaints about the display either: I think it looks great. Thought I’d miss the 3D Touch but I really don’t, I like the haptic touch

I have had my iPhone XR for a little over a month. It was an upgrade from an iPhone 6. Generally, the phone is very good, much quicker than the 6 and definitely has a better camera. The 2 downsides, or at least disappointments to me are the size, and the battery life.The size is just too large. I really wanted the XS size, but not it's price. The second is battery life. I was expecting tremendous battery life, but at this point, it won't last as long as my iPhone 6. My 6 had a battery replacement back in January and I was able to use it for 3 days before having to charge it at around 25%. The XR, using the phone exactly the same way, only lasts 2 days before I need to charge. Actually, I find the screen on the XR quite pleasing. Overall, I think it's a pretty good phone.
I tried the XR for a couple weeks and I had amazing battery life. It would routinely last me 3 days. When I checked the battery stats I was at 21% and had a combined total of 7.5 hours of SOT over that 3 day period, and I didn't charge it at all. If you aren't getting SOT like this I would suggest you return it for another one. My 6 and 7 NEVER lasted this long. They would barely last a day. Having said that I couldn't deal with how wide and heavy the phone was so I returned it for the XS.
HALWG51 your 6 lasted 3 days of battery life?? I had the 6s, I had gotten a new battery and within 4 minutes I was loosing 60% in 30 min. I upgraded to the XR and I used 2% in an hour

but the XR hands-down has the best battery right now. I’m glad I made the right choice for me anyway. And I still have $300 extra in my pocket.
The XR and XS Max are very close, but in day to day use I find I still get a little better out of the XR.

The screen is what you look at so it should make you decide on what to buy. 1080p should be the basic bottom line for a display not 720p. Plus no 3D Touch you might as well go back to iPhone X or 8. Why would you upgrade to go backwards. And yes I have the iPhone X’s max. Upgraded from the 7.

I recently upgrade to XR from 6s. believe me, the display is not a big deal. the pictures are sharp and the A12 chip is fast. For regular use the battery runs for almost 2 days.

Shane Monaghan not really lol 😂 the screen is miles ahead on the Xs I’ve had the XR for 8 months before I gave it to my mom and I’ve noticed almost immediately that the screen is more vibrant and the phone is a lot more snappier all around.

I went from a iPhone 7 to XS. I was hesitant because of the price but the XS seems to be a better phone than XR (in my opinion). There has been mix reviews about the XR, the display is not as sharp and it doesn't have an OLED . If you have an iPhone 8Plus at the moment, stick with it and don't upgrade yet !

Switched from S8 to XR white 256gb, love the buttery smoothness and better optimised apps~ a bit draw back from the screen but the screen is actually quite good on XR and less strain on my eyes compared to S8

So I have been to an Apple Store today and spent quite a while comparing the xr and the xs, especially the displays. Of course you notice a difference when you directly compare the two devices, but honestly, in my opinion that difference is not worth the extra money the xs costs (not to mention the insanely expensive xs max). The screen of the xr is very, bright, colours are very accurate (of course black is not as black as at the xs but still good) and it's quite sharp. Can't understand why so many people are hating the display only based on the specs. I will buy the xr and I'm very excited for it!

I prefer the size of the XS as well. The stainless steel is a nice touch too. Just personal preference.

I have an XS, and have for three years now. My brother has an XR. Honestly, in 2022, both phones work pretty much the same. The only thing that I have noticed that is different is the battery life, which it is actually better on my XS but that is after three years of use and both have gotten shorter over time. The other thing is the size difference, which is really down to personal preference. I enjoyed this review, very informative with no useless information.

@@not_asha.9881 They are very similar. Apart from camera, screen size and battery life there is really little difference when using them. I’d probably recommend the XR, just because it is easier and cheaper to get. It’s probably not worth spending more on the XS, in 2022.

Both phones are ridiculously expensive. The XR is not worth anywhere near 750. Hence the reason apple is offering 300 off if you trade in an old iPhone 7plus. The screen is okish for texting and emailing etc. When you play a hd video YOU will notice just how poor it is. It's a discrace that apple charge flagship prices for this phone and then use 2010 technology for the screen. And the bezels are really thick compared to the X's. To me if you have to have an iPhone, you'd really be better with the iPhone 7 or 8 range. Great phones. Cheaper and gave the old touch button on the front. They are still powerful enough at the moment and can keep their own with the newer models.

I had both an iPhone Xs Max and an iPhone Xr for a week. I ran comparisons daily - mostly with the camera and video playback. While I love the form factor and design of the Xr I ended up keeping the Xs Max. Taking photos side by side, at the same time with exact conditions or back to back so the angle and lighting are identical, the Xs Max outperformed the Xr in low light everytime. The Xr always had more noise. And I found when I record in HDR, I’d like to play it back that way. I hardly ever use a computer for viewing any content. Because photography, especially low light, is very important to me and I like HDR playback I’ve returned the Xr.
That's pretty much the only reason to get the XS Max, which I heavily considered myself. Because you prioritise a better camera.

MyLifeForAuir87 the second telephoto lens is mostly used for the 2x zoom anyway. Also, you produce better portrait shots with the XR because it uses the main sensor letting in more light and has a wider field. The XS and XS max rely on the telephoto and not its main sensor. Facepalm

Jesse Pinkman If OLED is worth 250$ then go for it, the resolution is meaningless when you can’t tell the difference from 1 foot away from the screen and I would argue aluminum will hold off better with scratches and use with time than stainless steel.

I see no reason to donate an extra $500 to Apple. They are the same in basic specifications, but Apple has nothing to offer over other phones other than iOS. Had 6+, which Apple has lied and cover up over its problems. Purchased the Xr fully loaded, hopefully will last a long time.

aprosexia they have the same processor so it is not faster it’s probably around the same speed as the xs but the xs display is just a lot better than the xr that has the same ppi as the iPhone 4
Remember XS is less likely to break against water, it has stainless steel around it so it’s less likely to damage, 3D Touch and it fits in pocket better. *i’m not calling XR bad. It’s a good phone. I’m just saying which I think better. XD

Truth be told; the XS feels a lot more premium than the XR. The build quality is amazing, whereas the XR feels like a classic iPhone. Not to mention the display, some may say there isn’t much difference but believe me, there is! Watching the XR’s display feels like watching a blown out iPhone 6s, which isn’t bad but the XS’s OLED is straight eye candy.

Ive had iphone 6s, 7plus, iphone x and iphone xs max. I now have the xr and the xr is the best device ive had from iphone. Dont listen to all the negative reviews about the display as ive had the xs max and you can tell a difference unless you hold the phone 1 cm away from your eyes. The bezels are thicker but you dont even notice them after a few minutes. The xr and xs have the same a12 chip and as the xr is lower res the battrey will last 2 days easily were the max lasts 1 day before charging. The only downside is the xr doesnt have 3d touch but this is a very small sacrifice for the better battrey life. I give the phone a 9.5/10 and its half the price of the max

I’ve been using apple since the iPhone 4 and honestly the xr is overall the best yet. I’ve been using it for a month now. I’ll admit coming from the 6 I had to get use to the size but when comparing it to the x, xs and the 6 it’s perfect size. Apple definitely jump ahead when it comes to the xr size. In a year it’s going g to be considered small.
